      Last of Florence

      June 1, 2022 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

We stayed with very sweet hostel friends. One was from Argentina and one from Toulouse in France where I am going in July! We stayed up late talking and then had to go to sleep because Sara and I had an early train to Venice.
Next is a view of our hostel roof where we had a coffee, then a FaceTime with Scout where I am clearly getting some good gossip from home (kidding ) and then a gelato and then we had butter chicken for dinner which was so so good. Don’t judge this cuisine choice I know we are in Italy xx
I have also captured a replica of David at his fountain and Sara and I have definitely learnt that he got his glute muscles purely from the amount of stairs in Italy. There was also a water fountain that had sparkling water but it was quite acidic.
There is more photos from the Uffizi too. I like the disco move.

Read more

      Étape 8 : Borgo a Mozzano - Firenze

      May 22, 2022 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

      Distance : 101 km

      Ciao,
      À demain

      Roaming the Steets

      September 11, 2022 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

Walk walk walk! Florence is such a walkable city and so cute! The streets are all very small and narrow and the canal down the center is fabulous. I didn't even have to use Google maps to find all the ancient buildings. They say Florence is the city of art and I believe it! Many statues and the outside of the building are so detailed with various designs. You also can't walk around the streets without being surrounded by markets. And leather galore! It's hard not to just go "oh maybe just this one".Read more

      Chill Day

      September 12, 2022 in Italy ⋅ 🌙 25 °C

After a lot of go go go action packed a couple of days/weeks, I took a more laid back day, exploring the less touristy side of Florence (basically the other side of the canal. I wandered through some gardens, Sat under a tree and read my book (book review coming soon!) 😁 I went to a lunch spot recommended by some fellow travellers and it was DELICIOUS! The panini was so good and the woman working was so friendly and kind. I found Florence to be very touristy and there were SO many places to eat so having this good recommendation really helped me navigate through the tourist traps! Finished off the day chilling out on the roof top Terrance of the hostel, sipping on a glass of wine. Classy ✨ insider: I find after some time, a little alone time is good. So this day was a perfect buffer :)Read more

      Florence Day 4

      July 10, 2023 in Italy ⋅ ☀️ 37 °C

I did not mean to walk this much today 😭 this is the most steps that I’ve taken yet! And the longest day out. Each day I usually stop back at the hostel to get a shower and A/C refresh, but idk it didnt make sense based on the things that I wanted (?) to do. So it started with the plan to go to the market and try the handmade pasta downstairs. It was lemon olive oil ravioli and it was delicious! After, I headed out on the same route as Day 2- past the duomo and the goal was to go to the same gelato place cuz it was so good, but then i forgot about siesta time and it was already closed :( so then I went back around to the statue gallery loggia dei lanzi because I didnt have food this time- so i could go walk around and look at each statue. After I kind of just kept walking and decided that it was better to stay on this side of Florence because I was wanting to come back around sunset anyways. So i went to the boboli gardens- stupidly during the hottest time of the day and i was SWEATINGGG. It was cute though, and was nice to see some plants and botany. After that, i headed over to the infamous Piazzale Michelangeo for sunset, but more for pre-sunset. It was very beautiful, and overlooked the entire city! As i was walking back I caught the sunset while walking the ponte alle grazie. Later, I went to a karaoke bar with friends and took some photobooth photos!

      BYE FLORENCE 💗💗💗💗

      Florence Day 3

      July 9, 2023 in Italy ⋅ 🌙 31 °C

It was a very relaxed day. It was soooo hot so I couldn’t really bear to walk around and do sightseeing. I met up with Cole and he was with 3 girls from Cincinnatti- Emily, Maddie, and Rheme, who are graphic design students taking a trip together. We went to the market where we got some food. I went for asian food LOL because I’m just missing it so so badly. It was alright, and of course would not live up to the Vancouver standard. It was reeeeeally hot today, got up to 38°C….. to make matters worse, the pool from our hostel was closed. We went to another hostel to use their pool which was much nicer anyways, and was on the rooftop. We hung out there for a while and cooled down in the pool which was much needed. After that, we had to bid Cole farewell because he’s heading off to Rome. We dropped him off at the train station and then hung out in the pool area and rooftop terrace of our hostel. After a little while, I said goodbye and went back to my room where I met my new hostelmate. After, I was going to watch the sunset at the famous lookout, but there was no way that I would make it in time, because it’s a 45 minute walk, and there was 20 minutes to sunset. So instead, I stepped outside and followed the sunset to see where it would take me, and I found myself in this lovely little park that had a pond in the middle. They also had a small fair kind of thing going on, with Italian comedians(?), drinks, and food. I grabbed some delicious gelato (which was only €2.80 for 3 flavours!!) and watched the show, which I completely did not understand because it was in Italian. After that, I went back to the hostel where I went to heat up my leftover sandwich from yesterday. While I was doing that I met some of the sweetest Aussie girls- Madi and Carys (pictured), who I hung out with for the night, meeting some other friends- Georgie, Saran, and Rosie, who I ended the night chatting with.

Feeling grateful and happy about how kind and open so many of the people that i’ve met on this trip have been!! 💗
