      The Shinkansen from Hiroshima to Fukuoka was packed, I think everyone was getting out of Hiroshima before the G7 started. Luckily we had booked a seat this time and the trip was only an hour. Our Hotel is a short five minute walk from the station, It looks a lot classier than the last one, even has a full check in desk instead of a hole in the wall. We left our bags and headed off to find Hakata Old Town. There’s not much to it but it’s a nice quite street with older building and temples.

      It’s warming up the more we go south, you need to be out of the sun in the middle of the afternoon. We headed out again about 5ish to find the Yatai Food stalls. They are street stalls along the canals selling everything from Ramen to Barbecue. Passed through Canal City on the way which is a flash shopping centre, but it does have a musical water fountain display which was pretty entertaining.

      We found the food stalls but it was still pretty early so we wandered around for a while and then decided to have a drink somewhere first. Went into this deserted restaurant overlooking the canal and sat at the bar. So many staff in here and no customers. We sipped our beers watching three chefs get an assortment of food ready. We thought they were a bit premature because there was no one even walking pass this place.

      A gong must have sounded somewhere because suddenly people started appearing from all directions. It’s funny in restaurants because all the staff call out greeting whenever anyone arrives or leaves. So there was a chorus of greetings for the next half hour. We sat at the bar with the best seats in the house watching the chefs put together some amazing dishes. After they’d dished them out to the function we’d ask can we have some of that. They were very surprised at first, then they thought it was funny, then I think they loved that we wanted to try everything.

      Fukuoka meander

      Did a nice tablet work session in the morning while the weather wasn't all that great outside. Then I went meandering through the city which is highly industrious, cosmopolitan, very rich and incredibly well organized and clean, but it doesn't exactly inspire any kind of special vibe. Every big brand that you know from the west is represented in this city with a storefront.

      They do have a radio station that operates on the corner of a building just like they do in Tucson.

      In some backstreets I found a variety of small food shops where the locals were hanging out. Around a corner one has a huge line, it's a hole in the wall and it has to be really good if the young crowd is willing to wait at least 20 minutes out on the windy street. In no time there were an additional 10 youngsters behind me. It must be famous. I think I'll have a double order. I'm the only old person and the only westerner in line. The explanation is that it has become famous on Instagram. Voila, their marketing is all online and the old people have no idea. Well, we don't anyway now do we?

      I find out in my first bite why these dumplings merit such reknown. There is a delicious soup inside the dumpling. The technique is to bite off a small corner and drink/suck the soup out before eating the dumpling. It's insanely good!

      I'm not going to miss a beat in this city, tonight I'm attending a blues duo performance. Oh well. My friends play much better than these two. Lol. I'm still having fun though.      Baca selengkapnya

      Dert hets paar tämplä und hügle. Isch rächt touristisch gsi, dür das hani nid gueti SHOTS chönne mache. Bi när ono ga wandere, respektiv has probiert. Mini fitness isch äuä ATL😅, bi nid wit gange. U het ono afa rägnä😓

      Aber hetsech glohnt.

      Am aabä isch ä ustuschevent gsi wo d schuu organisiert het, zämä mitere gruppe Japaner wo englisch lehrä.

      Si ines irish pub. Ä japanerin het womer diskutiert hei wär was schaffet gseit, dassi game designer isch, da bini liecht häuhörig worde u ha gfragt für weli bude.. si schaffet für From Software 😱😱🤩🤩 bi richtig im hype gsi, wiusi zur zit di beste games produziere wos git 😍😍 Si hets aber gloub nid so chönne nachvouzie, dasi reagiert ha aus hätti dr Messiah troffä 😂

      Nach em Pub simer no witer aber immer meh lüt si abgsprunge, am 3a.m bini när o hei u dr dütsch isch alei no witer ine klub 😂

      D schuu isch immer wi asträngeder wordä, ha jede nami müese repetiere und vorschaffä 😅 Iz bini de froh wens düre isch, wiu z tempo ischmer z höch. Vilech fahri de dehei no witer, tendiere zumne ja.

      Am mänti när Malmö troffä 🤩 Isch eher schnäu eskaliert mit paar japaner wonis Highballs zaut hei 😂 (und si hei food gässä wosnis scho bim zueluege isch schlächt wordä)

      Am dsischti aabä no Spontan ä baseball match ga luege, Fukuoka SeaHawks gägä.. irgend ä angeri mannschaft 😂 super erläbnis gsi, viu besser aus i dä U-S-A.

      Start isch in fukuoka, ä ruhigi Stadt woni 2 wuche ire sprachschuu probiere d basics ufzschnappä. Aus vorbereitig heisi mir 2 basis alphabet und paar pdf gschickt. Die hani iz über öbbe 6 wuche immer wider chli glehrt, und i gloub langsam hani sä intus, z läsä isch aber no chli träg 🤣 u d ussprach, äuä dr horror 🙈

      D schuu startet aber ersch Am mäntig.
      ds wucheend hani gmüetlech wöue nä, u am samsti bini ines Irish pub woni hurti 1-2 bier ha wöue nä u e pizza ässä. No bevori öbis ha chöne bsteue bini aber vo 2 abgfange u überredt worde i sone Karaoke koje z ga, isch ä langi u luschtigi nacht wordä , so loufts wemes nid erwartet 😂

      No zu wiso i die schuu bsueche, mehreri gründ:
      - Näbst dütdsch u englisch isch japanisch
      sicher di sprach woni im alltag am ehnste no konfrontiert wirdä, (ja.. anime 😂)
      - Mis hirn mau wider chli bruche
      - mau lenger amne ort blibe ohni dases längwilig wird (hoffentlich)

      Mit jedem tag schuu, bini weniger drus cho 😂 i ha zwar einigermassä chönne fouge, aber uf när abgänderti fraagä u so hani oft nid gwüsst wie antworte. Finges aber völlig ok, in anbetracht dasi mit abstang am wenigste vorwüsse mitbringe 😂

      Am mittwoch aabä heimer mit 2 "klassä" iz karaoke wöue. Nachdem si lang diskutiert hei woo ga ässä u ner no imne arcade si blibe stecke si plötzlech au hei ussert dr dütsch, hei när no chli witer gamet (hase vermichtet im mario kart und imne tanzspiu 😂)😆

      D stadt säuber isch eher ruhig, miteme riisigä restaurant pro quadratmeter ratio 😂 z ässä dünktmi recht priiswärt, hät denkt dases dütlech türer isch.

      The 7th biggest city in Japan, mostly due to the port I believe, it was fun to explore albeit a bit rainy. We enjoyed a final Japanese meal at a large izakaya, it was busy with locals and had a fun atmosphere while we chowed down on tempura. We had a bit of an explore in the evening, being able to see the city come alive in the night and see just how big it was. We found a weird shopping mall, built around canals, that we were hoping to see an godzilla video or water fountain light show at - instead we think we found a band playing their new music video and having a Q&A afterwards! We obviously didn't know what was going on, so headed back to the hostel for a sleep.Baca selengkapnya

      Chez ma nièce à Fukuoka

      Fukuoka est la plus grande ville de l'île de Kyuchu avec 1,6 millions d'habitants (2.6 en comptant son agglomération). Elle se trouve à 1100km au sud de Tokyo. Sa situation géographique fut d'elle la porte d'entrée aux échanges avec la Chine et la Corée, ainsi que des convoitises...le Grand Mongol Khabilai Khan lança la conquête de Fukuoka en 1281 avec 4000 vaisseaux et 140 000 marins. En face, les Japonais ne faisaient absolument pas le poids. Mais un providentiel typhon a balayé les envahisseurs. Ce typhon avait par la suite été nommé "kamikaze", soit le "ventdivin".
      Nous, on n'a pas été chassés par le kamikaze, mais par une délicieuse brise et nous sentons bienvenus et peu plus culturés.      Baca selengkapnya

      Japon - Début

      Arrivé au Japon à Fukuoka, tout est plutôt bien fait et bien indiqué malgré la barrière de la langue. Gros choc culturel comparé aux autres pays que j’ai pu faire, super propre et les locaux sont super disciplinés et respectueux des règles. Les transports en communs sont propre et calme, c’est super agréable à vivre.
      La nourriture est super bonne et varier (mais les quantités sont plus petites que chez nous) , c’est bien évidemment plus cher que les pays précédents mais les prix restent plus que correct ( 5/6€ le plat en moyenne au resto) .
      Énormément de parc dans les villes/ de temples/ de centres commerciaux
      J’ai eu la chance de passer au bon moment devant un terrain de baseball ou il y avait un match 1h après, j’ai pu voir mon premier match, une super expérience !
      J’ai fais quelques villages aux alentours de Fukuoka, vraiment sympas, facile d’y accéder et calme.

      Unser letzter Stopp in Japan war Fukuoka, die größte Stadt in Kyushu und berühmt für ihre Ramen. Am ersten Abend besuchten wir direkt noch das Museum of Asian Art und den Headstore der berühmten aus Fukuoka stammenden Ramenkette Ichiran. Am nächsten Tag statteten wir den Burgruinen und dem Ohori Park einen Besuch ab, bevor wir in der Canal City Mall ein wenig shoppen gingen.       Wir wollten noch etwas laufen. So sind wir vom Bahnhof durch die Hakata Old Town Area bis zur Canal City gelaufen. Da war ein wunderschöner Schrein, den wir besichtigt haben.
