Ban Hua Na

Oggi è il mio ultimo giorno a Pai, un’altra bellissima cittadina del nord della Thailandia.
Qui l’atmosfera è speciale, è pieno di gente un po’ alternativa. Pai era (o forse lo è ancora) famosa per essere una città Hippie, dove la gente veniva per rilassarsi. Oggigiorno con la legalizzazione della marijuana in Thailandia questo aspetto è anche piu marcato.

I dintorni di Pai hanno tantissime bei panorami da mostrare, belle cascate e hot springs e altre belle attività da fare.
Io ho noleggiato insieme ad Eleonora uno scooter e abbiamo girato i dintorni per die giorni.
Il primo giorno siamo andati ad un view point a circa 1h20 da Pai, dove c’era una vista bellissima sulle montagne, e pure la strada per raggiungere io view point era molto bella da guodare, con tanti sali e scendi e belle curve.
Dopodichè abbiamo visto altri panorami e un villaggio cinese, dove abbiamo fatto tiro con l’arco.

Il secondo giorno abbiamo iniziato con una lezione di yoga gratuita e poi ci siamo riempite la pancia con un brunch delizioso.
Siamo poi salite a vedere il Buddah bianco di Pai con la sua vista sulla città.
Dopodichè abbiamo guidato per una mezz’ora per arrivare al famoso bamboo bridge, un pontile fatto di bamboo che sovrasta i campi di riso. Peccato che sia la stagione secca e quindi i campi siano marroni, ma è stato comunque molto bello e rilassante stare in mezzo alla natura.
Per finire la giornata siamo andate al famoso Pai Canyon, a vedere il tramonto. C’era una bellissima atmosfera e una luce bellissima.

Le serate le abbiamo anche passate insieme, bevendoci un qualche cocktail o una birretta, e mangiando per le strade di Pai, che alla sera si animano con il mercato notturno.

Anche qui a Pai sto in un ostello, il letto è duro come il cemento (penso che non ho mai avuto un materasso del genere), ma devo dire che dormo benissimo. Sarà forse anche l’aria fresca di montagna, dove di mattina e di sera la temperatura arriva a toccare i 12-13 gradi.
L’ostello Yor Song è molto carino, e la prima sera ci hanno organizzato una family dinner thailandese che era una bomba!

Today is my last day in Pai, another beautiful town in northern Thailand.
The atmosphere here is special, it is full of slightly alternative people. Pai was (or maybe still is) famous for being a Hippie town, where people came to relax. Nowadays with the legalization of marijuana in Thailand this aspect is even more pronounced.

The surroundings of Pai have lots of beautiful views to show off, beautiful waterfalls and hot springs and other great activities to do.
I rented a scooter with Eleonora and we toured the surrounding area for two days.
The first day we went to a view point about 1h20 from Pai, where there was a beautiful view of the mountains, and the road to reach the view point was also very nice to drive, with many ups and downs and beautiful curves.
Afterwards we saw other views and a Chinese village, where we did archery.

The second day we started with a free yoga class and then filled our bellies with a delicious brunch.
We then went up to see the white Buddha of Pai with its view of the city.
Then we drove for half an hour to get to the famous bamboo bridge, a pier made of bamboo that overlooks the rice fields. Too bad it's the dry season and therefore the fields are brown, but it was still very nice and relaxing to be surrounded by nature.
To end the day we went to the famous Pai Canyon, to see the sunset. There was a beautiful atmosphere and beautiful light.

We also spent the evenings together, drinking some cocktails or a beer, and eating in the streets of Pai, which come alive in the evening with the night market.

Even here in Pai I stay in a hostel, the bed is hard as concrete (I think I've never had a mattress like that), but I have to say that I sleep very well. Perhaps it also due to the fresh mountain air, where in the morning and evening the temperature reaches 12-13 degrees.
The Yor Song hostel is very nice, and on the first evening they organized a Thai family dinner for us which was the bomb!Read more
