    Idaho Falls, ID

May 28 in the United States

It’s always good to get on our bikes and we’re amazed at how many comments and questions we get from people, it’s a bit like having a cute dog, people always stop to talk.
The Riverwalk loop along the Snake River is also a great biking trail. Although the Falls are man made for hydro electricity, there are still picturesque especially with the river being so high. Canada geese and their young, ducks and grebes are just some of the birds we saw. Interesting animal statutes and benches on the route.Read more

    Tourist Park - Idaho Falls

June 2 in the United States

Parked on the banks of the Snake River which is in flood. We’re waiting on the 3rd controller for the step to be delivered, the first 2 were faulty and closed the step whenever the door closed. Fingers crossed 🤞 the third one will be good.
Lots of interesting birds and we have Canada geese families in our back garden. Saw an osprey nest with 2 chicks on our bike ride along the river today.

    Dinner on the Deck

June 3 in the United States

Back at Dan and Janice’s house for dinner on their deck overlooking the city of Idaho Falls. Also joining the party were their friends John and Anne. Interesting people John originally from Mississippi met Anne originally from Dublin in Germany. Excellent food and company, shame we took photos after all the plates were cleared !! Great sunset over the city tonight.

    Beer Tasting

May 27 in the United States

Abandoned trip to Grand Teton NP as it was raining and chilly when we drove there last Tuesday, we couldn’t even see the mountains !! We also were going to be boondocking with no electric and when we started the diesel Aquahot heating it was spitting out black smoke.
So we drove down in elevation and found a RV service place in Idaho Falls. Our step decided to stop working and they needed to order a part and of course it’s Memorial Day Monday so the part will not be here till Tuesday. Or Wednesday.
So we find ourselves parked in Snake River RV Park drinking beer on a Sunday evening. Life throws spanners in the works, but it’s still good.

    Shirley House BBQ

May 28 in the United States

Funny how things work out, if we hadn’t had a couple of problems, we’d never have been in Idaho Falls this Memorial Day and we’d never have met the lovely Shirley family, who kindly invited us to their house for a BBQ.
They live in the foothills to the east of the city with great views. Dan and Janice made us feel very welcome and we had a wonderful evening chatting with their family and friends. Great food and the odd drink or few. Stew and Dan also had a common interest..... Malt Whisky 🥃.Read more

    Memorial Day

May 28 in the United States

After the loop we ride our bikes to Freeman Park where there is a ‘Field of Honor’ and an event for Memorial Day. On our way in Stew asked a guy on his bike (Dan Shirley) if we were going the right way and another chance meeting leads to a memorable afternoon and evening.
We walk through the flags representing local military personnel who lost their lives in war, it is very moving. Good to hear the pipes and drums of the Teton and District Pipe Band and see some Scottish dancing.
Finished off the afternoon with a pint of Caber Toss a Scottish style ale at the Tap-n-Fill as recommended by the Shirley family (Dan, Janice, Elise, Josh & Austin) who we joined on the patio.

    Another set of falls.

August 22, 2017 in the United States

We rolled up at our motel to find things we'd begun to take for granted weren't necessarily so. No microwave & fridge. No free wifi. But there was a pool - that pacified me but Liz was hungry. Bit the bullet & had a burger at McDonalds - no chips - almost 4 weeks in the states & still no chips. Walked to the museum past the town's namesake falls - not quite as impressive as yesterdays. The town however was more pleasant. Headed to the museum which had an exhibition on space to tie in with the eclipse - for Idaho Falls was in the path of totality. Some interesting stuff - a camera that went to the moon, a number of samples of moon rock & some fun interactive stuff. Some info on the new innovative Orion capsule NASA are developing that looks uncannily like a Saturn V Apollo. Cutting-edge. Some local history which was curious. Came back via the Japanese garden on an island in the middle of the Snake River. Peaceful considering it was by a main road. Impressively it was all created by volunteers.Read more

    Yellowstone < Idaho Falls

July 8 in the United States

Also ist nen Tag Chillen ganz gut.

    Idaho Falls

July 9 in the United States
