    Yellowstone part one

    September 7, 2019 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 8 °C

I explored the upper loop of Yellowstone today. The weather has changed for the worst. Temperatures have dropped and it rained a bit this morning and will rain some more tomorrow. But wasn't an issue today, besides having to wear a warm sweater.

Was originally planning on doing a big hike, but apparently the grizzly bears are very active in September, and it is not advised to hike alone or without bear spray. So I only did the more easy accessable smaller trails. I ended up walking a lot still and seeing a lot.

Arrived at the campground around 19h30 and decided to put my tent back in the van and just sleep in my van instead of being cold in my tent. Really glad I converted my van. My bed in here is actually very comfortable and I don't mind sleeping in the van.

But after writing a lot today, I better get some sleep to do Yellowstone part II tomorrow.

    Yellowstone part two

    September 8, 2019 in the United States ⋅ ☁️ 12 °C

The day started cold and rainy and ended cold and rainy. But besides the weather, I had the possibility to watch a lot of steamy pools. I smelled enough sulphur for the next year! But most of those geysers, hot springs and mud vulcanos were actually really impressive. So I had fun looking and listening to the boiling of water or even mud. I ended the day with the old faithful. I was lucky that I arrived at it in time for it's eruption. Which was a small event on itself. Tomorrow I'm driving to Grand Teton. Hopefully I can find some WiFi there to upload this, or hopefully my very crappy phone service I bought here will finally work. We will see.Read more

    Poranek na Bridge Bay Campground

    July 25, 2019 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 9 °C

Mielismy duzo szczescia z bizonem, przyszedl nas przywitac w pierwszy dzien i wlasciwie towarzyszyl nam do konca spedzajac cala ostatnia noc doslownie na miejscu obok.

Nic! Mis zwabiony zapachem jedzenia, jezeli sie do niego dostanie zostaje bezpowrotnie stracony: staje sie agresywny i musi zostac uspiony.

To jakby wkopana beczka z takim opuszczanym zeliwnym rusztem. Super sprawa! Sniadanie mamy z glowy. Kupilismy drewno, rozpalke, bulki i parowki na hotdogi i puszke chili (con carne). Obudzilem sie wczesnie uszykowac posilek. Z trudem rozpalilem ognisko i zaczalem podgrzewac puszke chili. Zamknieta puszke chili. Nawet my go czulismy a dla misiow musial byc prawdziwym zaproszeniem na uczte! Wyjezdzajac na Old Faithful zglosilismy to obsludze.

    Yellowstone I

    July 11, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

Day nine: This night we slept in our car because there was a huge thunderstorm. But we slept well and hey the car was cleaned again. In the morning we went into the forest where we watched the work of the rangers to look up the grown species of plants. After an hour we went back to our car driving in the direction of Yellowstone. The landscape changed so quickly. Suddenly there were nothing than died plants and the whole landscape turned dry. It was a very beautiful view. When we arrived at Cody right in front of the national park we visited a gun store. It was very impressive 'cause in Germany we don't have public stores like that. Afterwards we wanted to visit the Old Trail Town. But it seems nothing special to us so we didn't want to pay entry for that.
In the Yellowstone we was looking for a campground. On the road we saw about four bisons 🐂 next to the road and the Yellowstone Lake 🏞 Because all campgrounds are full we found some kind Mexican that allowed us to park behind their vehicle on their camping pit. The next camping night for free (actually the third) 🙈
We met a few people who are moving from Oregon to Texas and combine that with a roadtrip. So they travel with a truck with their belongings in it. Pretty cool!
At the end of the day we watched an interesting presentation about the animals which live in the park.

    Transition Day

    September 1, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

Today we drove east across Yellowstone to settle into our new campground, Bridge Bay. It's actually a huge campground, some 450 sites, but each loop is separated and it feels quiet (and private since we are on the furthest loop). The campground sits right across from the lake and has a huge marina where you can take tours or rent boats.

In the evening we took a driving tour around the northwest part of the lake. We saw the famous Lake Hotel (in yellow) and the Lake Lodge (interior shown with log beams). Any of these hotels would be awesome to stay at!
