Endlich ist auch hier der Sommer angekommen☀️. Bei knappen 30 Grad cruisen wir entspannt durch die Berge. Es ist so schön nicht mehr frieren zu müssen😊.
Von Shelby aus sind wir in den Glacier Nationalpark gefahren, bis jetzt einer von meinen favorits. Der Name verspricht ein bisschen viel, wir konnten lediglich einen kurzen Blick auf einen Gletscher erhaschen. Die wunderschöne Landschaft hat das aber mehr als wett gemacht.
Im Westen Montanas fühlt man sich wie in Norditalien. Hier haben wir uns einen Tag Zeit genommen und sind um den Flathead Lake gefahren. Dominik hat sich sogar in das kalte Wasser getraut.
Am nächsten Tag ging es für uns dann nach Idaho, den erstmal letzten Staat hier in den USA.Read more

Z kempingu Two Medicines przejechalismy wczesnie rano ok 1.5h na kempingi po zachodniej stronie parku. Naszym pierwszym wyborem byl Fish Creek (tak padlo, bez wyraznego wskazania) ale Susan dodzwonila sie tam dzien wczesniej i okazalo sie, ze "Rybny Potok" wypelnia sie juz okolo 7 rano. Z marszu wiechalismy na oddalony 3mile od wjazdu do parku Apgar Campground. Zasady takie same, tj. kto pierwszy ten lepszy i samodzielny check-in. Miejsca szukalismy pol godziny i znowu dopisalo nam szczescie, bo do godziny 10tej tabliczki przy wjazdach do kempingu zamieniono na full. W pospiechu rozblismy namiot i bez sniadania, zeby jak nam sie zdawalo uniknac tlumow ruszylismy w droge.

Going to the Sun to malownicza trasa widokowa przez przelecz Logan przecinajaca cale pasmo nazwane pezez jej badacza, korona kontynentu. Gory wokol maja po ponad 2.500mnpm, dwukierunkowa trasa pnie sie wawozami caly czas pod gore laczac zachod ze wschodem. Po drodze oszalamiajace widoki i przestrzenie mogace przyprawic o lek. Najbardziej urokliwa czesc trasy moga pokonywac wylacznie pojazdy do 21stop. Nasz suburban spelnia ten warunkek wiec nie skorzystalismy z publicznego autobusu. Liczne punkty widokowe oraz czeste ograniczenia do 25mph sprawiaja, ze choc najbardziej atrakcyjny odcinek liczy ok 50mil, to jego pokonanie zajmuje ponad 3h.

We drove east on Going to the Sun Road for our best hike so far. Logan Pass to Hidden Lake on the Continental Divide, a bit of a grind but well worth the effort. Wildflowers, marmots, mountain goats and gorgeous views.

Maddie & Sarah took the shuttle up to Logan Pass to check out the view while the boys napped and showered. So worth the drive! Love the Going to the Sun Road!

There were clouds, there was rain, and there was snow... but it was still awe inspiring and majestic. When the sun broke through, the lakes' colors appeared and the mountains sang. Ok, maybe it was the radio, but it was awesome! 😁 oh, forgot to mention the momma grizzly and her cub we saw... from a distance.Read more

This morning, Lumpy, Ben, and I picked up Bob at his hotel, then went back to Bozeman to meet Denny. The five of us are riding with Bill, the Rally Coordinator, and Chris, the Regional Manager, just in case Ben, Lumpy, and Bob can't get through the Going to the Sun checkpoint. They weren't able to get a Timed Entry ticket. If some of us get in and some don't, then no one has to ride alone today. I think it's a great plan.

First, we stopped at the state capitol in Helena, which was quite pretty. Then it was onto the park via US Highway 89, a lonely, almost desolate stretch of road.

When we got to the checkpoint, Bill and Chris went ahead of us five. I then pulled up to present my ticket. When the attendant asked if the others also had tickets, I said, "Yes, we're on a Harley rally together along with the two guys just ahead of us." He said okay and we were all allowed in 😁. Yay!!

Off we all went, squiggling up steep, twisty turns and switchbacks to reach the Visitors Center at Logan Pass. Although not very high in elevation, it marks one spot along the western Continental Divide. The sign is Montana's 50 Rides 1 Nation location, and we're getting lots of photos for each other now. Another epic day!!!

Parking can be bear … all spots taken at the visitor center. So off we go for a short jaunt up to Logan’s Pass Visitor Center and then a little hike to Hidden Lake Overlook! Lots of wildlife, wildflowers and falls.Read more
