    day 8 - Gordon dam

    March 8, 2017 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

Today was a real driving day. Fix we wanted to go to a waterfall but it was a 3 hour hike. We needed the time so we went to another cave wat would take only 30 minutes.

Afterwards we went for a 84 km drive to the Gordon dam. It is he highest dam in the southern hemisphere. The dam is 150 meters high. That's really high! Besides the dam there were a lot of lakes an lots of mountains around there. The view was really spectacular!

On the way back we visited the Russell falls. They should be the best falls of tasmania. It was really good. And it where 2 big steps with a lot of smaller waterfalls. Afterwards went to a 'free' campsite' you can donate I'd you want. We spent our last evening together. Afterwards I'll be travelling one day alone with Anna. Yes again the mount amos climb and the n actually look at the wineglass Bay.

    day 9 - Bruny island

    March 9, 2017 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

At the campspot there was a car that probably went off the road. It was standing between the trees. Whoops moment! :-P around 10 am we got the ferry to bruny island. To save costs we went with 5 people in the rental car and only took what we needed. So that was a good idea!

First we went to the other side of the island. Visited a lighthouse and the view was good. On our way there we also saw a island what you can rent, imagine a whole island for yourself. It was $1200 a day for 2 persons, so that's a bit to much for backpacking budget.

Next we went to the neck. That's a small Piece of land that connects the 2 islands from bruny island. That was a really cool view.

Afterwards we had lunch and got the ferry back to the mainland. We had to say goodbye because I probably only see the 2 girls tomorrow for a museum.

In the late afternoon I drove to Coles Bay again to see the actual wineglass Bay. But that steep hike is for tomorrow! Now just chill in the evening.

day 10 - wineglass Bay And MONA

    March 10, 2017 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

We went out of bed a bit earlier than the rest of the trip. After arriving on the bottom of Mount amos we packed our stuff and wrote our names in a hikers registration book. It took us 1 hour to climb all the way to the top of the mountain. Then we enjoyed the amazing view! I filmed the hike down.ill post the video later.

On our way back to Hobart we had lunch and drove over a spiky bride. At the airport we had to say goodbye and our trip was unfortunately finished. At the end she was a real easy and good travelmate!

In the late afternoon I went to the MONA (museum of old and new art) in Hobart. It was a cool museum! Saw a lot of inspiring and weird things.

After my domino's pizza I drove 70 km north to the cheapest fuel station of tasmania. Price was 1,28 compared to 1,37 - 1,46 so thats a lot. Average was around 1,40. After I filled up a bit I drove to a campsite 100km from cradle mountain. Because it was late I had to drive almost 1,5 hour in the dark. I saw a lot of wildlife, 4 walibi's, a deer, a Tasmanian devil a bird and 6 possums, I had unfortunately one roadkill. No idea what it was but I guess a possum.
I drove around 40 km behind a local. Because he drove way to fast for a traveler. And he knew the way. I even had a hard time to keep up with him. But he had special big lights on his car so if I would follow I would hit an animal and can drive as fast as him. At the end I was all in 1 piece on the campspot.

    day 11 - Canyoning @ cradle mountain

    March 11, 2017 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 13 °C

I had to wake up early because I still had to travel more than 100 km. In total it took me another 2 hours to get to cradle mountain.

Once there my Canyoning adventure starts!
We were Total with 10 people so a nice group, first we had to pack all our gear in a back and drive 5 minutes with a bus. Then walk with the bags around a half hour. On the changing rock we got all in our Wetsuits and harnesses. Once done that we had to walk another 5 minutes and finally it begins.

We had to abseil 13 meters into the creek. On the way we had to walk / swim trough the canyon. There were some falls where you had to jump. The highest drop was around 7 meters. So pretty high. It was really cool to do and pretty safe. I expected a bit more adrenaline but the water was low so. If it would be higher than it would be a bit better! But never the less I had a great time!

Afterwards I drove around an hour to get to the nearest campsite next to the Montezuma falls.

day 12 - monzumenta falls and ferry

    March 12, 2017 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

In the morning I had to clean all the cooking stuff. Everything was so Dirty. It took me almost an hour to get everything clean! Damn those Dirty backpackers!

Then I went to the Montezuma falls. These are the highest in tasmania in total 104 meters high. The walk was really easy but it took me around 1 hour each way. In front of the waterfall was a small bridge, you couldn't pass eachother and the bridge moved with every step. So not something for people with fear of heights.

Afterwards I went to the ferry and got on board, this time I wasn't the last one. ;-) on the ferry I went to the cinema, it was smaller than I expected but still, a cinema on board!

It's ti bad my Tassie adventure is over again! But now time for the next trip.
