We also visited the Romanian Parliament.
Built by Nicolae Ceausescu to show his power. It’s the heaviest building in the world and the second biggest in surface. It’s been built only with Romanian materials: tons and tons of stone, marble, glass, gold, wood…
A whole neighbourhood was destroyed in order to build it and underneath it there’s as many floors as outside.
Only 20% of the building is in use, and most of it is just empty chambers.Läs mer

Bucharest Tour

We did a free tour around Bucharest, visiting the different important spots in the city.
- Coltei church
- Bucharest km 0
- Sfantul George nou (Iglesia de San Jorge) - Here we learned about some orthodox rithuals, like taking the holy water to drink in the morning (only if fasting), and the boxes for the candles for the dead and the living.
- Lupa Capitolina statue: to remind us of the Roman past of the country.
- San Anton church/square burnt during the great fire and only survived a picture from San Anton.
- Old town / medieval town
- Stavropoleos church: it’s actually a monastery with 7 monks living there.
- Romanian state bank, History museum and Savings state bank, all in new French style, built during Carol I and Ferdinand.

Very good food and drinks in this lovely terrace, that we still enjoyed despite the heavy rain at the end of the night.

After over 2h of driving (without the stop) with the great Romanian road works, trucks, aggressive drivers, gypsies crossing the road… we made it to our destination!
The beautiful city of Sibiu.
The old town is full of colour houses with eye winking windows, a dragon like tiled roof gothic church, ancient defensive walls and a bridge that squeaks if you tell a lie when you’re on it (It works very well, Riccardo said I am very smart and there was nothing but absolute quiet)Läs mer
