💚🤍❤️ Rapallo to Portofino
8 giugno 2022, Italia ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C
Sprung out of bed and threw open the shutters on my window (… you can just see me “springing”!? 😝) with the sea 🌊 view…
Just magnificent 🥰 Breakfast consisted of delicious moist Italian cake 🍰 and pastries orange juice and breads with fresh Italian coffee ☕️
Robyn and Mike I can now see why you fell in love with Rapallo. It is such a beautiful and tranquil seaside village. Everyone is just relaxing and enjoying the sun ☀️ The preferred local pace is snail 🐌 Perfect for recuperation after the Jubilee weekend.
There are not many tourists around at the moment in Rapallo. It is so lovely to be surrounded only by locals. As I wandered along the coast to Portofino (8km) I found an amazing private swimming area. In San Michele. The crystal clear water was the perfect temperature, sun was shining and I had to pinch myself as I looked around me to see the cute coloured buildings and pebbly beach 🏖 ☀️
There are lots of closed off purpose-built beach areas with umbrellas and bathing boxes. But why would you use these when you can find secluded and picturesque places with the locals..? Just beautiful 😍 your senses literally explode and your eyes simply cannot take it in. Photos don’t even do this region justice! If there’s a beach in these photos I swam in it! Just took my clothes off…everyone does…and got in! No one cares about body image they just do whatever they want! It’s so refreshing and food for the soul!
Speaking of food the most delicious gnocchi pesto for lunch at the beautiful little cafe in Portofino. If this is gnocchi then I have NEVER eaten it before… The pesto was out of this world! Delicious vino Blanco and I was set for an hour or two just relaxing and watching the world go by! 💚🤍❤️
Poor Richard was ‘dogged’ with yet another disappointment today. A traffic controllers strike @ hideous Stansted and cancelled flight ✈️ I did some research and helped him get on a flight to Pisa…forget the tower…and come directly to the Italian Riviera.
Toot-Sweet! Can’t wait to enjoy this with him! 😍👍🏻☀️🇮🇹
I walked the 8km (and swam) to Portofino but decided to take the boat trip back along the coast…great idea: the views - Spectacular!
This is Living! I want more! ☀️☀️☀️🏖🏖🏖

Richard finally touches down!
8 giugno 2022, Italia ⋅ 🌧 21 °C
6 pm and I was beginning to worry because I have not heard from Richard so to calm my nerves I definitely needed to have a dry martini 🍸 then low and behold I heard from the man himself… Arrival at last! Let the debauchery begin! 🤪
In true shenanigans style we headed straight to a little bar in the back alley to have some pre-dinner drinks… Aperol spritz! They were delicious and much needed for both of us: Me maybe due to too much sun and sea today 🌊 & Richard due to too much travel! ✈️✈️✈️ Not only did we get our Aperol Spritz but we were delivered an exciting and delicious tray of treats! A gorgeous wooden board with many delicacies…such a pleasant surprise 👌
We then headed to a gorgeous little restaurant overlooking the bay in Rapallo… The waiters were so kind and friendly and… Hot 🔥
Richard had the gnocchi with pesto which I recommended after having it for lunch. Thanks to mum and dad for this dinner and drinks which they contributed to… We thank you and love you very much and you can rest assured we enjoyed every sip and mouthful x
There is nowhere in the world where pesto tastes so fresh and vibrant and the gnocchi is way ‘out of the park’ in every way shape and form… The sexy waiter 🙃 also brought over the basil 🌿 plant 🌱 in case Richard wanted even more authentic taste upon his delectable morsels! 😋
Not to mention at the end of the night the waiters brought out a large bottle of lemoncello and shared it with us, complimentary! How could we say no 😝😝
It is so good to have Richard here at last! I really enjoyed being able to chat with a good mate about what’s been going on for both of us and it was so much more enjoyable to have stimulating and controversial chats and discussion! 🙏👌🥰🍸🌈
There were a few showers of rain tonight as you will see the pictures but it did not the perturb us… Good honest genuine tourists like us never get scared off by mother nature l, we embrace it and we move on and continue to experience all of these ‘money can’t buy’ moments!
Welcome to Italy 🇮🇹 Richard 🥰👍🏻🏖☀️Leggi altro

9 giugno 2022, Italia ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C
Amazing breakfast 🍳 of fresh fruit 🍉 with taste. Also egg 🥚sweet bread and apricot jam. All devoured in the beautiful jasmine garden with the popular potted basil 🌿 on each table: typically Italian ❤️🤍💚
On exiting our hotel lobby we were delighted 😁 to discover there was a wonderful market that ran all the way along the foreshore of the beach. Richard and I wandered along the wide and varied merchandise stands. Richard tried his best at haggling and took a considerable amount of time choosing a five euro watch for himself! He also invested in a beautiful signature ring. Both of these items are available for perusal in today’s photos. 💍 ⏰
We then wandered through the alleyways of Rapallo until we found one of the few cafes that were open during Siesta! Unfortunately for us the cafe owner was not very proficient in English, and why should she, being a proud Italian?! Richard was so jet lagged that he thought the English Menu was written in Italian 🤦♂️✏️ Both of these factors created a calamity of indecision…we still greatly enjoyed the fresh ingredients on our meat & cheese 🧀 platter. Oh, and our mojitos & wine 🍷😉 It was a very popular cafe, probably because it was one of the few still open for lunch! You’ve got a love the relaxed and laid-back Italian way of life 💚🤍❤️
Next stop Vernazza! 🚂
It is always a little bit anxiety producing catching Italian trains because they arrive exactly on the dot. If it is arriving at 2:01 pm it will be there and if you are not on the right platform you miss out!
There is always a sense of relief when you reach your destination…
Rapallo. You have lived up to your reputation & then some..! 🥰🥰🥰Leggi altro

I don’t know how I could access this site so easily tonight as I have had difficulty previously. I am so pleased to see the two of you together in cinque terre. Enjoying the weather, the food and wine of Italy. Had dinner with Fiona, Phoebe and Terry tonight and they were keen to hear your story so far. Loving your travels xx Chris [Christina Wilson]

ViaggiatoreFantastic Christina! I’ll pass on your regards to Richard who is tired tonight and gone to bed. I have gone back to Monterroso LOL for more spritzer! 🍋😇😉😜😜😜

Oh Fuck! 🥺😢😩🤬
9 giugno 2022, Italia ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C
So, I’m sitting here at 10pm looking out to sea 🌊 at what should be Paradise and blissful but this afternoon has been the first challenge of negativity of my trip!
Let’s get the obvious out of the way first… Vernazza is, as you can see from the photos, truly beautiful. The proprietors and business owners; not so much!
So, we arrive at picturesque and postcard pretty Vernazza… Everything should be perfect, just like the brochures say it should…
Here is my experience…
Off the train and I am so hot 🥵 that I could almost blow smoke rings out of my arse!
Look carefully they said, there is only one street they said, you will find your accommodation, they said… it’s so easy, they said. So, off we schlepp but we just couldn’t find our accommodation. And there are tourists spatially unaware everywhere!
Already having more than wonderful experiences with beautiful, honest, caring and considerate Italians in Rapallo (and most other Italian cities and towns) I thought the best thing we could do would be to simply ask if I could tap into the Wi-Fi at a bar or shop so that I could phone 📞 my accommodation provider.
The first bar I went into point blank rudely turned me away, being told there is no way I would be able to use their Wi-Fi… I informed Richard and said we probably need to go back to the station to ask tourist information ℹ️, after all, that’s what they are there for. To GIVE tourist information!? So off we went… Through the hordes of tourists! Rudely walking past & through you as you attempt to navigate your way up the main road/pass with heavy bags. 😫
Finally get up to the station to speak to the man in charge of tourism information ℹ️ … Clearly not a position he should be holding down. It seemed to be putting him out and to be the most inconvenient & biggest effort for him and he couldn’t possibly afford to even give us a shred of politeness and care considering our dilemma. ‘Informing’ us, there is only one street, it shouldn’t be hard to find…!?!?🤪😡
Eventuality, after reluctance, he decided that he would call my accommodation provider. ‘Informing’ me (as he is paid to do) that my accommodation provider would meet me at the pharmacy on the main street. Sounded like a reasonable plan to me… So off we went…
On arriving at said Pharmacy I walked in and politely asked the pharmacist if he was aware I was to meet my supplier in his shop. He threw his hands in the air without skipping a beat and said he knew nothing about that & he was “…just the pharmacist!” And walked off! Rude! Arrogant man! Plain. Simple. Rude! 😤
Finally my host did show up and took me up 40 extremely narrow & dangerously steep steps to my room. (I dare not even photograph those steps because, not only would my own Mother pass out with fright for the safety of her only son, but these shiny/slippery steps break all kinds of OH&S protocols & rules.) Remember also, I was already as hot 🥵 as a lobster 🦞 in a boiling pot, had to lug a 17kg bag up said 40 narrow steps and had been treated like shit already by a handful of “tourism providers” (…I use the term loosely!)
Open the door, relief 😮💨…it looked good. She said she was in a hurry and quickly showed me the basics. I asked for the wifi password and she informed me it is not working at the moment! I politely (again) explained to her it’s a shame & inconvenient because it is my only access to the outside world. She shrugged her shoulders and left…☹️😠😣
It took me 20 minutes to try and work out how to lock and unlock the door. Richard may have a different story here, but regardless, it was an extremely anxiety producing for me and I was at breaking point by now! After much twisting and turning of the key I finally worked out how intricate force and ‘safe-like’ precision must be applied at a certain angle carefully for it to be opened 😩
By this stage both Richard and I were in dire need of some water. This should’ve been an extremely simple task but we were greeted by a very gruff & unreasonable convenience store owner who refused to take card payment and insisted on cash 💷 only. In this post Covid world it is completely unreasonable to insist on such a thing. I tried to keep cool but, as you can imagine I was hurting inside. What an arrogant bitch she was. As you may imagine I was at the stage that I felt like telling her to stick her water where the sun don’t shine but I needed it more than I needed air at that point! 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ This entire ‘shit show’ reminds me of my experiences in Paris. This sheer arrogance, self entitlement and dismissive nature of the residents who rely on us to exist simply turns me off! 👎🏻
I composed myself the best I could and reminded myself where I was, how lucky I am and decided to go for a swim. I felt instantly better as I frolicked in the water. Yes! I did use the word frolicking because I need to have some sense of positivity within this blog…😉💪🏻
Richard and I met at seven, as arranged, and looked for a suitable place for dinner… Every single restaurant was discovered to be way overpriced, knowing the captive audience they have. Regardless, we chose one that looked nice; up on a platform overlooking the main street. We ordered the shared seafood platter… It consisted of 5 SMALL PLATES: rubbery octopus, two different kinds of anchovies: one fried and one boiled 🤮🤮 some paste that resembled fish roe dip mixed with grated carrot and some morsels of boiled fish which was passable. Oh! Hang on, I forgot to mention the bag of stale bread that was thrown…yes…THROWN upon our table as we sat down… I’m not exaggerating, it was stale and it was tasteless! Robyn, do you recall the gorgeous bread bag I shared with you and Mike in Lucca? We experienced how wonderful real ‘bread 🥖 in the bag’ should be! 👎🏻 Second course of AVERAGE pasta with what tasted like store bought jar pesto mixed through it 👎🏻 Not a patch on the last couple of nights. Not even fucking close! 🙄😡
Just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse there was a huge thunder clap & lightning ⛈ very, very frightening…🫤 and some rain began to fall. Everyone ran for cover, even though it was really just a passing summer shower. Once again Robyn, you will recall our rain experience in Florence? Where we were able to put up our umbrella and enjoy the moment… We weren’t even given that option in this case. I would’ve happily put up the umbrella and waited the 10 minutes until it passed. ☔️We were ushered into their less than adequate indoor seating space resembling a spare room at grandmas which was also as hot as hell! I kindly asked if the air conditioning could be put on & the owner only saw fit to open the door slightly. 😭 Tight ass! 🤯
By this stage I had an absolute gut full of the whole afternoon and night. The service was crap 💩😩particularly when compared with last night. To try & compose we went and got a gelati which was also average compared to what we had in Rapallo. 🥺
Everything was closed by 9 pm! Richard decided to go up to his room but I sat on a bench by the beautiful waters edge to compose myself and practise some mindfulness to alleviate the burning disappointment that had been generated deep within me… 😢
I suppose, essentially I am just sad and disappointed more than anything else because I had built-up the Cinque Terre so much in my mind & from watching you tube, research & reading that it just wasn’t living up to any of the hype and well below expectations 😥 I have a feeling that the shop owners and proprietors in Vernazza think the immense beauty of the location & landscape will overshadow their arrogance & self entitlement. Newsflash: it doesn’t! 😖 😥
Anyway, I feel better for getting it off my chest but you probably won’t even get to read this in real time until I am (hopefully) feeling better… because it seems we won’t have phone 📱 access until we leave! 🫤
Think it’s important to demonstrate that not every day can be good, even in ‘paradise’. And, may I say this afternoon was about as fucked up as it can get! 😢😠😡
I remain positive and hopeful that things will turn around tomorrow… but once again, you may not know until this leg of trip is over because Richard and I both don’t have wifi in our apartment and none of the restaurants will let us use it…🤨🤯🙄
I don’t quite understand why these places that rely solely on tourism need to be such cunts to the tourists! 🙄🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️Especially after the Pandemic 😷 You’d think they’d be bending over backwards to offer exceptional customer service rather than treat us like nuisances!
As I said, let us hope that tomorrow is another day and a better day… Fingers crossed that this is one bad afternoon and that is all it is…🙏
Also, I hope Richard forgives me for my grumpy and irritable attitude…🥺🥺🥺
PS: this is an update to the above… I have woken up early at 5 am because the ‘double’ bed that was advertised is two beds; shabbily pushed together that have moved apart in the night… The bed is as hard as the floor and the air-conditioner sounds like an aeroplane ✈️ taking off! Oh! And the bracelet I purchased at the market yesterday had broken and fallen off in the bed. 🙁🤦♂️💩
I am going to have to practice calling on my inner strength & summoning my positivity and resilience deep deep deep from within today. Mindfulness will hopefully save me as it often does. I can’t let this experience sour the rest of my trip because there are so many more wonderful things still ahead of me! As the little red caboose said, I think I can, I think I can!🤞🤞🤞🙏
PS: Enjoy the pictures… As you can see it is a beautiful location. But as the old saying goes: not all that glitters is gold. 🙅🏻♂️😢😢Leggi altro

Monterosso: We ❤️ You!
10 giugno 2022, Italia ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C
Let me start off by being extremely positive today! Richard and I woke up, had breakfast and headed off to Monterosso! What an absolutely amazing, enthralling, challenging and beautiful walk it was! We both found it challenging and I was proud that Richard kept pushing on and he was equally proud he did because the end result was everything I had heard about the Cinque Terre and more! More beautiful in scenery, landscape and spaciousness but more importantly, the people were everything I remember Italians to be: friendly, welcoming, kind, generous and innately humorous… What an absolutely beautiful town it was. And how different the inhabitants were! You could feel a difference in the air. Hard to describe but it reminded me of Mykonos with its beautiful alleyways, sloped spaces, hundreds of cute little restaurants and WELCOMING smiles! Thank you Monterosso you have restored my heart and soul and love of Italy! 💚🤍❤️
On returning to Vernazza I had dread in my heart… All I am going to say is this: I actually think even the locals don’t want to be here (obviously not, but seems like it!) I concede that I made a mistake in booking into this town for our specific requirements in a holiday destination. Had I chosen Monterosso things may have started off differently. Who knows? 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️ We live & learn. It is what it is!
My morning started off by heading up to the information counter at the station where I was greeted with the same nonchalant attitude as yesterday. Thankfully a wonderfully beautiful couple from Canada heard my questions and spent 20 minutes telling me all about the walks, the best way to proceed, tips, hints and everything any other tourism bureau would and should offer. It was wonderful and informative and said results for the success to follow. I’m not speaking without experience; I also worked in tourism and if I’d have been as wet & unhelpful as the staff in V I wouldn’t have lasted a week!
💚🤍❤️
It took about 2 1/2 hours on very steep cliff tops and steps. But, I loved every single minute of it! I feel exhilarated and accomplished. Was just such a magical and beautiful day! Restoration of my faith in humanity! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
I desperately tried to convince Richard to stay in Monterosso for dinner but understandably he was plum ‘tuckered out’ and wanted to head back to that place which I shall not speak of in name, just as “V”!
So, please enjoy the wonderful images of the spectacular walk along the path from the place we’re staying at to Monterosso! I’m sure you’ll agree they are out of this world!
As soon as we arrived at the end of the walk there was an instant opportunity to dive straight into the crystal blue sparkling water. I could not resist or get in there quick enough. I just took everything off except my jocks and went straight in. It was like nothing you can imagine after a 2 1/2 hour hike! I felt instantly refreshed. We had lunch atop a magnificent cliff top and then spent the afternoon wandering around looking at the most picturesque of towns. Just so Stunning 🤩😍✊🏻🥰
A friendly local business owner informed us of a bar where we would be able to get reception and Wi-Fi which was also a relief because I could inform my parents that everything was okay. I love them very much and it was distressing to know they were worried. It was such a relief to be offered the use of connection by this bar in town. I thanked them from the bottom of my heart! Incidentally, I had actually started to embrace the fact that I was completely void of technology. I hope to transfer some of this behaviour in my life when I return home 🏡 and asked Richard to keep me in check if I stray! We are FAR too invested in technology these days and I feel I need to start living in the moment more back in Australia 🇦🇺
On arriving back to V I headed straight for the water for another swim. Interestingly the swimming harbour was full of seaweed and rocks which was symbolic of my experience here. Enough of that! I think you get the idea now! 👍🏻😉🙃😂
Richard and I had the most delicious pizza for dinner back in V and was served by the most gorgeous of Italian men who actually made the pizza 🍕 lovingly in his oven. He was as sexy as they come! No photo unfortunately lol 😂 Sorry Mummy! 🤣 Both Richard & I were equally disappointed for us (but happy 😊 for him) when he showed us photos of his cute daughter 🫤🤩😉😉😉
Richard has headed to bed… It is 11 pm and I have taken the Cinque Terre express back to Monterroso for one last lemon spritz in this beautiful little village! It is magnificent! I love it love Love Love love! 🍋🍋🍋❤️❤️❤️Everything I know and love about Italy 🇮🇹 is contained herewith 🥰🥰🥰👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
As I enjoy my Lemoncello Spritz please enjoy magnificent wonderments of our day of hiking 🥾 and delighting. Viva Italiano! 💚🤍❤️Leggi altro

Corniglia 🇮🇹 🍷
11 giugno 2022, Italia ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C
Got up bright & early this morning at 6am and became adventurous! Walked from Vernazza to the spectacularly cute 🥰 town of Corniglia. Coniglia is the only town of the five that is perched high on a cliff with no sea 🌊 access. This makes it extremely unique and different to all of the other towns!
It was not as challenging as the walk yesterday but just as stunning & spectacular with the views and the beautiful little alleyways that meandered throughout the town! It was also wonderful because I was the only person on the track for the entire hour walk. It was as if I was the only person in the world! A truly unique experience in this UNESCO protected National Park region.
Enjoy 😊Leggi altro

Rest & Relax in Riomaggiore
11 giugno 2022, Italia ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C
Sitting on our private balcony overlooking the Riomaggiore with the Italian Vintage Summer 🌺 playlist! Just returned from a meandering wander through the very picturesque streets and tunnels of this beautiful town! And, in case you’re wondering 💭 Yes! The business owners seem friendly & relaxed 😌 It’s so refreshing to experience mutual respect ✊🏻 after V.
It’s just turned 6pm. Wine 🍷 time on the terrace. Sun ☀️ is high in the sky on a 30 degree day. Oh! I dread 😬 coming back to Winter 🥶 after being treated to a second Summer 🌺
If only I could travel indefinitely… I’m really pleased with my thought in packing this time: I have worn everything I have brought which often doesn’t happen. It’s still an extra stress, especially post Covid and flying cheap-ass airlines like RyanAir! You almost have an anxiety 😦 attack hoping your case doesn’t go universal the strict requirements… more than allowance equals big bucks 💰 extra! 🥹
Been for 3 swims 🏊♂️ today and I’m feeling relaxed but I must admit that a week looking a pretty painted houses 🏘 and navigating 🧭 steps and hills and rocks 🪨 is probably enough. Don’t get me wrong: I’ve adored every town except V… well, not true. It was spectacular too. Just the folks needed to attend Tourism 101. 😝😝😝😊
Richard & I went into the local deli and bought some goats 🐐 cheese 🧀 which is yum 😋 and focaccia, strawberries 🍓 (with taste!) and freshly picked olives 🫒 for pre dinner 🍽 platter. Having an actual apartment, as in London last week, certainly adds to the enjoyment of having space and room to move, along with your own space. This apartment is bigger than mine! It’s fabulous 😎😎😎
Enjoy Riomaggiore by day… ☀️🍋🥐🍕🍸🍷🚄

Sounds really good Troy . Love your blogs !! Say hello to Sandro for me !!😍👀😜❤ [Dad and Mum XX]

ViaggiatoreHe was so kind and helpful here. One of his staff came and collected us from the station and took us to the accommodation which was lovely. Complete opposite to most of the people in Vernazza . Haven’t met Sandra but hopefully will today. everyone was really friendly here. It is so nice having an apartment with two bedrooms and a really big balcony! And it was only €500 for both of us which I think is about $350 a night between two of us. The best value accommodation we’ve had so far. The prices are not really cheap here like they were when I went to Tuscany. They probably put them all up for the tourists. Oh well, that’s the way it is so windy in Rome… X

Second last night in the Italian Riviera! As promised, here are some spectacular images of Riomaggiore by night. The vibe in this town is very relaxed and chilled. A very good way to end a week long stay in the Cinque Terre. But! Wait! There’s more!
Tomorrow morning I’ve booked an authentic Pesto Experience at Nessum Dorma in the last of the five towns: Manarola! It’s a very sought after experience and one of the only ways to guarantee a place for lunch at this establishment!

Pesto Impresto 🌿🧀 🍷
12 giugno 2022, Italia ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C
Wow! Wow! Wow! ☀️🤩
What an amazing experience this was!
Nessum Dorma is a renowned restaurant that sits above a cliff top in Manarola. This is one of the few ways you are able to get in without a reservation. It was worth every single euro of the €60 we paid.
Not only was the location absolutely amazing. Gobsmackingly beautiful& stunning but the staff and the presentation of the entire experience was out of this world! Perfect 😍
The owner, Simone, won the piece of land the restaurant is on in a competition. Only three people entered and he won the right to build whatever he wanted overlooking the Manarola Bay. Surprisingly, there were only three people who actually entered the competition in total. Now that he has made an absolute success of it the locals are constantly trying to make it hard for him. It seems he is having similar experiences with some of the locals as Richard and I have had. Many of them begrudge others for being here. What a shame! He has done an amazing job. The pesto experience happens in the morning and then people are lining up down the path to come into the restaurant to eat. Without a reservation it is not going to happen.
Anyway we were given all of the necessary ingredients of quality including local garlic, fresh basil, local cheese and pine nuts. We were told exactly how to perfect the most delicious pesto I have ever eaten. We were never rushed and constantly supported and always in good humour.
Towards the middle of the experience we were each given a glass of local wine 🍷 which was slightly salty due to the region terrace agriculture and wine growing right beside the sae. Then came the most delicious 😋 platter: individually prepared and passed to every single participant. We were allowed to take as long as we like to enjoy and devour the food and the view. And also there was a competition to win a local bottle of wine… Everybody was a winner! 🥳👍🏻🍷
I would put this up with one of the most amazing experiences of my life.
Every single moment was perfectly orchestrated and we felt honoured to be part of the group. W🙃Right down to the moment that we were gently sprayed with mists of water that where perfectly constructed within the balcony frame construction. This is the true meaning of entrepreneurship. He deserves every success and we had the best time enjoying what Simone has created!
The 10 gorgeous young Italian waiters added quite a significant benefit of this experience as well…🥰😝😝
This was a brilliant way to finish our week in the Italian Riviera! 🍸👍🏻🥰
This took place in Manarola, the final of the 5 towns (Cinque Terre)

ViaggiatoreOh what an experience! It sounds absolutely amazing. If I ever get to Cinque Terre I’ll make sure to book this. Bravo Simone! Manarola is the nicest looking imo. It’s iconic and those crystal clear waters?? It made me want fly over and dive in. Like you said Troy this looks like the perfect conclusion to your cinque terre adventure. And this blog was the best thing for us to experience it vicariously through your posts. Mille grazie signore xx

ViaggiatoreThanks Ephie! I have really enjoyed writing my thoughts down like a diary in a way… I hope you shared it with your mum… Funny you should say that about Manarola because I think that and Monterroso were the absolute best. Probably equal first. Although, I absolutely loved Rapallo and the walk down to Portofino on the first day. The towns had less tourists and more locals just living la vida loca! 👍🏻❤️🥰

Your pictures and videos have been just delightful to see, you certainly have done justice to this lovely place the deep blue of the sea looks so inviting. You will certainly have so many marvellous memories to have for years. You certainly didn’t need to take a camera with you. Well done.

Very envious of you and Richard ---What a wonderful time you are having --could almost go the Mussels and all the food you are experiencing !!! [Dad and Mum XX👀😜👍]

Travelling post Covid 😷
13 giugno 2022, Italia ⋅ ☀️ 24 °C
Everything takes longer…
It’s disappointing many have come out the other side seemingly learning nothing… ☹️
You need to allow more time for everything and processes are more time consuming & convoluted and it usually ends up being time that you sit around waiting. Quite frankly, travel 🧳 days are tiring! It’s not a problem when you’ve really got time on your hands but it essentially takes the best part of a day (especially when airports are involved) 🙄 ✈️
Today’s travel arrangements is a classic example: caught the train to Genoa from Riomaggiore at 9: 30 am (3 changes - but very fast 💨) and arrived in Genoa at 11: 30 am. Waited for a shuttle bus for 20 minutes and eventually arrived at the airport at 12:30 pm. We made sure that we arrived at the airport the obligatory three hours requested by Ryanair for check-in. Ryanair finally decided to start check-in at 1:10 pm. If you check out the photos you’ll see the line! There was one service assistant 😫Another passenger turned to me and said it’s completely normal here…! I was led to recall that old saying: ‘…Bad organisation on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine!’ 🙄😬😝
Catching the train this morning from Riomaggiore was slightly stressful because there were three changes and the first train was uncharacteristically running four minutes late which made connections harder to ascertain or understand.
I must say, I am very proud of myself because I booked the train 🚊 & transfer tickets at a ticket machine (mainly because there were no actual staff at station 🚉) i knew exactly where to go and at what times, including the shuttle bus from the final destination in Genoa to the airport! It feels like a accomplishment when you get complicated travel sorted. 👍🏻👏💁🏻♂️
Genoa airport is very basic. The food is well below average & priced very high. A .75 litre bottle of water 💧 costs €5 there compared to €1 for same outside the airport ✈️ Richard made a good point at the discovery of the price of water; It is an essential need, especially on hot days like today so gouging prices for it is not very kind. 🙅🏻♂️ I suppose it is the same the world 🌍 over. Airports rip people off because they can! 🤐
Know what? it is really bad marketing for countries like Italy when your first and last touch points such as airport staff demonstrate rude, arrogant and dismissive behaviour towards tourists. Every procedure at the airport is made more difficult & more stress and anxiety producing by angry, nasty and downright rude service agents, security & customer service. It is simply not necessary! 👎🏻
Things are taking longer and we all have to play our part in making travel after Covid as pleasurable as possible. ✊🏻
One plus: When boarding had completed I realised I had a spare seat next to me! Gold! Win! 🏆 🕺🏼
By the time you eventually reach your seat on the plane ✈️ or arrive at your hotel room you feel like a nervous 😬 wreck and that you need to ‘down’ a bottle of Valium with a whiskey 🥃 with a side of lemon 🍋 Its sad 😔 really.
I honestly thought we would collectively all learn to be more kind, considerate and caring after going through the pandemic. 😳😷🙏
Apparently not…
Italy 🇮🇹 Lift your game! Please 😢
Anyway, enough of that…
I’m literally ‘…laying back and thinking 💭 of England 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧…
London!
I’m baaaaaack! 🕺🏼😝😍Leggi altro

I am absolutely dreading the airport parts of our trip especially on budget airlines but thankfully we only have the flight to and from uk and then one flight from uk to Barcelona and one back from Portugal. The rest of the time we are hiring a car to travel through Spain [Jules]

It’s good to be back! 🇬🇧🥰
13 giugno 2022, Inghilterra ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C
A tiring travel 🧭 day is instantly cured by three simple words:
MIND THE GAP ❤️🤍💙
Staying in Kensington the next couple of days: About 200m from Kensington Palace. Dumped the bag at the Seraphine Olympia on Kensington High Street & headed straight to the “Goat 🐐 Tavern”. It’s the oldest pub in Kensington. It was built in 1695 as an ale house to raise money for education and support for the poor. Love the history! Over 300 years old. Amazing 🍺🍺 But no good to me at the time because stopped serving food so had a pint of cider 🍏 and kept exploring for something to eat after 12 hours travel 🧭😳 Then again…you sorta get beyond food after a certain threshold of tired…maybe another cider 🍺😇😝😝😝
Hopefully 🙏 Richard has successfully navigated his EasyJet flight ✈️ to Belfast! He will be wrecked after his extended journey! 😳✊🏻🧳
Strolled across to Kensington Palace just before sunset. I think it’s the first time I have ever come to the palace at night. It is very reflective for me, I always remember in 1997 (25 years ago 😳) when I came and saw the mountain of flowers 💐 and tributes that extended right through the gardens after Diana died… It was something I have never seen before and probably not again. It was as high as me & as far as you could see to the gates. We all remember where we were when Diana died. It is one of those moments in history that most of us will never forget. What a sad sad loss with repercussions that have lasted a lifetime, especially for William & Harry.
Saw an absolutely amazing full moon 🌕 across the gardens. It was very eerie but beautiful to see. Check out the photos; I couldn’t believe my luck. Photos cannot even capture how amazing and beautiful it is! 🌝 Probably gone a bit ‘Moonstruck’ but it’s just so awesome! I tried to get all ‘Arty farty’ and show Queen Vicki is being bathed in the light of the moon! This holiday is the gift 💝 that just keeps on giving! 😍😇👑
Looking forward to coming back to Kensington Palace during the day for the unique exhibition exploring the royal family‘s relationship with the camera: “life through a royal lens!” 👑
Nice to be in a different area of London the next couple of days. Thinking 🤔 of going to see King Henry VIII’s Hampton Court Palace tomorrow…
Need sleep 😴…always strange to know that when I hit the hay 🛌 everyone back home is just getting up to start ‘tomorrow’

Marvellous Mayfair 💰💰💰
14 giugno 2022, Inghilterra ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C
Realising I only have 10 days left and so much I still want to do! I started to panic but I reflected on how much I have done; so many amazing memories made, so decided today would be a relaxing day to take another walking 🚶🏻♂️ tour and go to another brand new West End Theatre 🎭 Show! Glorious 28 degrees ☀️☀️☀️
Full buffet breakfast 🍳 included in hotel 🏨 room cost today so a great start to the Lovely London day! I forgot how London is not really built for hot weather.: The tube is stifling on a hot day. 🥵 I made another observation on the tube this morning also: All of the handrails in each train correspond to the colours of each line. I don’t know why I haven’t noticed this before 🤷🏻♂️for example, blue handrails are on the Victoria line, purple handrails are on the Elizabeth line! 🚊 Bit of useless information for you! 😝
Went on a walking tour through Mayfair this morning. The area was developed late 1700’s for the rich: old money 💰 and new money 💵 during the Regency and Edwardia periods in London. It is still very opulent and rich as you will see from the photos. Claridge’s posh hotel 🏨 is here and we also visited the former apartment of Jimi Hendrix and the classical composer, Handel. Apparently Jimi Hendrix loved Handel and was proud to live in the apartment next door (obviously in different periods in history!). Even though he was a rock legend he loved the classical music. Jimi only lived there for a year but has been quoted as saying it was the happiest period of his life! 🙂
We visited Berkeley Square. Apparently it is famous for a song about nightingales which I have no idea about. Maybe someone can enlighten me!? The walking group broke out into song 🎶 Richard would’ve loved 🥰 it!
Second photo looks like a small terrace house but it is completely palatial inside.! A lot of the terrace houses are like this: opulent, chandeliers, dripping with Gilded features. 💰👑💰👑
Essentially, Mayfair is just chock full of wealth! In 2017 Qatar 🇶🇦 bought up about 70% of the property in Mayfair! Not only are they the worlds best airline (…which I can now attest to!) but the richest too!
Went by Selfridges also and I took a look inside. So much history & wonderment 😍😍😍 it’s very high end and full of pretentious wankers to be honest. Couldn’t get outta there quick enough. In fact, the entire shopping Oxford Street, Regent Street and New Bond Street has really never been my bag!🤪
These London walks are probably my favourite attraction in London, apart from Big Ben obviously. You walk with such passionate guides and find out so much hidden information and secrets. They are amazing and make me fall in love with London even more! 😍
After the walk I found a little pub called “The Spread Eagle 🦅 (“keep it nice “Mummy”!🫣😝) and relaxed 😎 with a couple of ciders and traditional fish and chips with mushy peas! Yum 😋 Although, just quietly, we do it better: taste 👅 and value! Sorry. Not sorry 😝
I walked over the Waterloo Bridge this afternoon, as I used to many times when living here, and thought I would see if my Barber 💈 was still in the same place… he was! Had a quick buzz cut to freshen up for the next few days! 💇🏻♂️
As a special treat, for those of us that need a daily fix of the iconic tube I’ve included a circle ⭕️ line train 🚊 via Victoria 😍 from Embankment. Unfortunately the best part: that combined smell of grease & hot 🔥 steel is not available. 😉
Advance Warning ⚠️ ⚠️
When I return back to cold 🥶 dreary wintery Melbourne my friends are going to have to check in because it is going to be unbearable LOL 😝😫⚠️⚠️Leggi altro

ViaggiatoreWhat a time you are having, Mayfair is a very plush area and you are so right so much was sold off to rich overseas family. I think you will find The British Royal families still own a lot of land there. A Nightingale sung in Berkeley Square was a love song written for the First World War although it was also sung in the Second World War by artists like Vera Lynn. People like Rod Steward, Harry Connick Jr, Michael Buble, Manhattan Transfer I play it for you when you get home.

Such a beautiful song, always reminds me of watching war films as a child in good old blighty [Jules]

ViaggiatoreI absolutely love your blog about London it makes me feel like I would know my way around.

& Juliet
14 giugno 2022, Inghilterra ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C
So! This week I wasn’t so lucky 🍀 to be walking distance to West End…consequently I nearly got crushed in the peak hour foot traffic. On the plus side: I got to use the sparkling new Elizabeth Line! Clean, mean tube machine! You could eat off the floors!
Anyway, off to see the latest West End Smash 💥 Hit. There was a way different vibe at this one: all ages: very young to the die-hard oldies! My C26 ticket 🎟 had me in second row this time…I’ll probably be able to smell the cast
‘…treading the boards…’
It’s the story of Romeo & Juliet… if the actual ending of the original had Juliet live to fight another day… I am skeptical but open minded when it comes to creative stage productions and, with half price tickets there’s not much to lose really!
It’s made up of modern day songs from artists such as Katy Perry, Britney, Celine Dion, Justin Timberlake, Backstreet Boys etc. so, if nothing else, the soundtrack should be a winner!
The audience was going crazy from the first minute!
Verdict: Hmmmm very very PC: non binary characters, gay, bi, trans… very progressive & trying to be all things to all people all at once. It was good. The music was great. It’s probably just a bit too progressive for my personal preference. It will be a big hit with the teens & twenty somethings. Us older theatre 🎭 Queens may be more comfortable with a repeat performance of Phantom or Wicked! 😉Don’t get me wrong, it was very enjoyable…
🕺🏼🕺🏼2 Romeo’s
Update: i’ve slept on it… And it deserves three Romeos… 🕺🏼🕺🏼🕺🏼think I was just a bit tired yesterday and didn’t enjoy it as much as I maybe could… It was fun, joyous and well constructed… Fantastic music 🎶Leggi altro

ViaggiatoreYes, the more I think about it the more I like it… It is coming to Melbourne I just sent you a link… It is very progressive and would be perfect to talk about on Joy! X

Diana: 25 years on…
15 giugno 2022, Inghilterra ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C
It is always a reflective time when I visit Kensington Palace. Sure, I love all the history, particularly related to Queen Victoria and Princess Margaret who both lived here. But, obviously my biggest reflection is Diana. Everybody remembers where they were when they heard the news. I was living in London that year and remember feeling devastated as I travelled around France and Spain at that moment in time. I watched the funeral in Spain and the normally busy streets were completely void of people. It was eerie. Such a waste… Such an outpouring of grief. Can’t believe that it is 25 years this year. I couldn’t wait to get back to London. I lined up to sign the book of condolence at Kensington Palace and I saw the amazing floral tributes in front of Kensington Palace. They were as high as me and as far as you could see…💐🌹🌺🌸🌼
Today all I had to do was walk out of my hotel room and cross the road to be at the palace. How fantastic is that? ❤️👑 I have visited and toured the palace many times but I get just as excited 😆 when I am doing it again. Today is no different! Last visit I saw Diana‘s dresses 👗 exhibition and this time the exhibition is ‘…life through the Royal lens…’📸
And, what an exhibition it is! So many wonderful photographs… some never before seen. Queen Victoria started the photographic craze mid 1850’s with her reign. There is one photograph that shows her face smudged. Queen Victoria did this to the negative because she did not approve of the way she looked. It was with her children and they all are untouched. I simply devoured all the information around the photography and how it completely changed the public perception of the Royal family… as expected, the Queen calls all the shots when ever she has a photography session.✊🏻👑
There was another story about Queen Mary crying for three days when she was to marry William. But, it became a true love story because William would not leave her side for weeks, even setting up a bed right next to her when she was sick and eventually died of smallpox.😢
I am now standing in a quiet alcove admiring the serenity of Diana‘s statue. You are no longer allowed to walk around in the sunken garden which I was at first disappointed about, but then I spoke to the gardener who explained that a sunken garden is supposed to be appreciated from a distance, as a whole… It made complete sense and made it much more serene and respectful ❤️❤️❤️🪴🌸🌹🌳🙏
This was indeed another highlight of this trip! There were not too many people so you had to complete silence to just admire and reflect. Beautiful moment 😢❤️🌹
PS: I went a little bit crazy in the gift shop! Whoops! Rule Britannia! 🤪👑 🇬🇧 🇬🇧Leggi altro

ViaggiatoreA amazing place filled with such history good times bad time sad times. Lovely photos of Diana especially with her boys and then the lovely picture of the boys together it would be so nice if they could make up, life is far too short.

ViaggiatoreAbsolutely 🥰 I thought 💭exactly the same while looking. Diana would be devastated at the rift! 😢😢😢 tyey would know this and will make up one day! she'd also be proud Harry has made a different life for himself too! so, there would be conflicts in her mind too. But she would want her boys to be friends. pS: youre up ⏰ late!

Not a hitch catching the train 🚆 from Kings Cross International station 🚉 So glad I wasn’t heading to Paris on Eurostar: the lines were so long and there were a lot of angry 😤 Parisians …karma I say! 😜😇🐌 Sorry 😞 Not sorry 🐸
I had a reserved seat 💺 which was a pleasant surprise because I didn’t do that when booking 🤷🏻♂️ Obviously not complaining though…
You know what? This trip took a shitload of reading, researching & revision. I spent hours comparing & mapping, googling and clarifying. I enjoyed every minute of it and it has paid off in spades ♠️ rewarding me with probably the best and most comprehensive, enjoyable and exciting holiday I have EVER had! I’m really chuffed it has been so full & fun. Not just jam-packed with fun activities but plenty of downtime & mindfulness too! 🕺🏼
Probably the only aspect I may have missed could be the “Queer” element. Yes, I could’ve spent more time on gay 🌈 apps or hanging around bars, but my life experience has shown me that often (not always) leads to time wasted and hollow emptiness so I don’t regret that for a minute! The couple of times I did partake was on my own terms and with a joyful, inclusive heart ❤️ 🧡💛💚💙💜 Many friends have questioned this aspect and I remain firm in my belief that my holiday has been no less enjoyable without it! To quote a bigger Diva than me: “…I am what I am…I bang my own drum 🥁 some think it’s noise, I think it’s pretty!” ✊🏻✊🏻✊🏻
The train 🚂 ride up to the Peak District was so comfortable and relaxing. Not crowded and no screaming kids or annoying people. I’d recommend it to anyone. Thanks 🙏 so much to Steven for introducing me to the App TRAINLINE. It has been invaluable in not only booking but extremely easy and efficient to organise refunds or changes also. It even organises the absolute best value ticket 🎫 Sometimes that may be a split ticket and you don’t need to understand what it means you need only be grateful for the internal program that works it out for you! I’ve used it in Italy as well and worked just as well there when actual station 🚉 staff were either not available or just assholes! 😜🐷
Steven was waiting for me at the railway station when I arrived which was lovely. It was so nice to catch up with him and Richard again. I was so excited to see the English countryside. It was so cute and beautiful. The landscape, the buildings, the history in everything was amazing. I could feel another element of this adventure building just by looking at the bunting and the flags all hanging out to celebrate the Jubilee! 🥰🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Just look at the knitted 🧶 ‘caps’ for the post boxes the locals have made 🧶for the Jubilee celebrations! How cute is the one representing the Queen and all the corgis? Reminded me of my grandmother and how she used to knit the nativity scenes and jumpers for us. So country, so cute ❤️❤️❤️
Ashbourne was instantly welcoming & adorable! We had dinner in one of the local pubs (George & the Dragon 🐉) which is at least 300 years old, as are most of the buildings, or older. I tried many local beers 🍻 and I finally tried scampi 🍤 with mushy peas and home-made chips 🍟 So delicious! The people in the three pubs we went to were very friendly and I instantly felt ‘homely’🍺🥰 and at home 🏠
Richard and Steven’s house is lovely and extremely comfortable. It is like a little slice of luxury in the country! I’ve always loved the English countryside and this afternoon confirmed that! 🐄🌳🌻⛰🏠🇬🇧
They hold a football game where the shops and businesses board up their windows and hundreds of people come from all around to play this game within the entire town. To be honest, I still don’t quite understand it but it sounds very intriguing! I’ll learn more tomorrow!
Very grateful 😇 for this opportunity to discover more of the UK 🇬🇧 through the very fortunate coincidence of making friends with Steven a few years back through the social group I ran prior to Covid has come full circle to allow me this exciting new experience 🕺🏼❤️🇬🇧🥰🙏💪🏻✊🏻Leggi altro

Charming Chatsworth & Bakewell
16 giugno 2022, Inghilterra ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C
Leisurely road trip today… 🚗
We went to the beautiful & historic Chatsworth Manor Home. Well, it’s really a Palace. It has been in Pride and Prejudice series and movies. It is also featured in the Crown 👑 for the inside shots representing Buckingham Palace. We could see, feel, hear & breath the atmosphere. 🥰
The gardens around it were spectacular and the inside was so opulent and palatial. It was a really hot 🥵 day today and walking around made us all extremely tired. It was actually uncharacteristically hot, so I was told. Unlike what I’ve heard and dread 😬 about Melbourne currently 😢😢
We threw down a rug and had a lovely picnic in the gardens ☀️🌸 overlooking the house which was extremely relaxing and enjoyable. We collected delicious treats from Marks and Spencer and a homemade pork pie with chutney before heading to Chatsworth. Some facts: Diana Spencer’s Great, great, great, great aunt was a former Duchess of Devonshire and the current Duke and Duchess still live in this home. There is an eclectic mix of furniture within the house; period pieces are mixed with very modern Art and Bespoke features… Check out the amazing bed in one shot! They had to remove a window to get it inside the bedroom.
Queen Victoria stayed in this Manor home twice, once when she was 13 and once when she was queen. Queen Mary has also stayed in the house. It was such a chilled out and relaxing day 🇬🇧🦆☀️
On the way home we stopped at Bakewell which is famous for the Bakewell tart… I bought some to try tonight. I really enjoyed the flaky pastry tart with jam in the bottom of it. I also bought a treacle tart 😋 Bakewell is another historic town which is very cute but not as cute as Ashbourne in my opinion.
I loved the ducks coming up to us while we were having a picnic and cheekily eating the sandwiches from my knees! 🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆Leggi altro

Queer As Folk 🌈🕺🏼💃🏼🎉
17 giugno 2022, Inghilterra ⋅ 🌧 17 °C
Lovely relaxing and leisurely morning walking into Ashbourne town for a ‘alf English breakfast. The UK is experiencing a heat wave 🥵 at the moment! How lucky can a guy get? ☀️It’s the top news 📰 story today! And, yes, it’s extremely hot 🔥 Because I have slowed down a bit I have noticed I’m quite exhausted 😴 The heat is very different here in the UK 🇬🇧 than back home so I’m just slowly trying to adjust.
Called into Buxton this afternoon: it’s an old spa town in the Peak District: Quaint shops and historic buildings. Bunting still up for the Jubilee! Love how patriotic & Proud the UK 🇬🇧 is!
Too many people have been telling me how cold 🥶 it is in Melbourne so I’ve called Qatar ✈️ and extended my Summer by a few more days! Thought it may be a long time between visits so I’d make the most of this while I’m able! You only live once I say ✊🏻
To celebrate 🎉 we hightailed it to Manchester for a night out on the Queer As Folk famed Canal Street… and oh ! What a night! ✔️
K-Y Kelly put on a fantastic show. And! What a fabulous drag name! 💃🏼
I was feeling very tired and melancholy this evening but it was very refreshing to be able to talk to Steven and Richard about this and discover they had similar feelings at different times. I am so often comforted to know other people are not 100% jubilant and happy 100% of the time! Social Media & facades represent a different view but I so much admire those who are strong enough to admit things can be hard sometimes. Those are MY people & I’m proud to be around them. Honest, real & open 🙏✊🏻
Regardless of the way I feel I am generally very able to pick myself up, take a look at the BIG picture and simply enjoy the moment. This is most certainly the way it was tonight 🕺🏼🙏🥰🎉There have only been a couple of these moments during this trip and I think it’s important to let people know that is okay & valid and it is human to feel this way. I handle my mental health very well as evidenced by the amazing experiences I’ve had this trip… ✊🏻👍🏻
I had an absolutely fantastic and joyous night. What an amazing place Manchester and Canal Street is… I have never in my world 🌎 travels found anything that matches the scope and complexity of this amazing GLBTIQA street! People were widely diverse, truly exclusive & honestly friendly, kind and welcoming. It was a pleasure to see and participate in that type of inclusive and honest behaviour.
As much as people may try and pretend that getting older isn’t a factor in the real world it actually is. There comes a time in the evening where crowds and loud music and extremely cramped environment become an effort rather than a pleasure. If you know when to draw the line you have a skill that is worth acknowledging and being proud of. 😝😍😇
An amazing 👏 night, and amazing street; amazing friends that made so much of an effort to help and create a wonderful evening of pure energy and effervescent fun!
It is been an absolute privilege to reacquaint myself with Richard and Steven. They have welcomed me into their home and lives and have been more than generous with their time and efforts in ensuring I have the best time… And, I certainly have! Thank you from the bottom of my heart to both of them! 👍🏻✊🏻🥰❤️🕺🏼😘 🇬🇧☀️❤️🧡💛💚💙💜Leggi altro

ViaggiatoreHi what a very colourful place to have a night out and how nice to see drags singing with their own voices. I think that is so good and something that I haven’t seen since Patches in Sydney years ago and then only a few. It’s very very natural that you are going to have ups and downs and that you could feel quite low at times. You have been and are on such a roller coaster you really have and it’s bound to shake your emotions quite a bit. I can’t believe that you have managed to post what you have for us all to enjoy, that my friend is incredible give yourselves a bit of credit you so deserve it. And please don’t beat yourself up, your doing alright you really are.

ViaggiatoreAwwwww thanks 🙏 Rod! I’m glad to be brightening your day and hopefully a few others… I like to tell it how it is and I never pretend things are better than they are… Some people make their life save like a fairytale… Sometimes it does seem like that I’m in the real world we certainly do have ups and downs and that’s just called living life! 🕺🏼✊🏻☀️🥰

ViaggiatoreI’ve never known you to be anything than honest and sincere it’s why I liked you the moment you stepped into my home. Allowing us to share your journey with you has been a honour and so much joy to be seeing what you are seeing through your lens has been amazing and I can’t thank you enough what you have written has been skilfully done and very interesting and I’m not just saying that, thanks.

For me, today was another big travel day, Again… But, I am very happy to be back in London after an extremely relaxing short break up north. Thanks 🙏 again to Richard and Steven for such a wonderful stay in the beautiful English countryside. I felt so privileged. What an amazing location… It was so quaint: today when we arrived back from Manchester there was a typical English fair happening within their town. Just like you see in your typical good English Rom-Coms. 😍🇬🇧 we went to the local gingerbread shop and had a delicious sausage roll which was home-made followed by a gingerbread man… Whoops! I mean gingerbread person…🤫😂🤦♂️
It was lovely to see Richard again. We went out to a very lovely wine 🍷 bar, just 4 doors down from our hotel in Maida Vale! It seems like a very nice area and it’s about half an hour tube ride from the centre of London. I look at it this way: I’m discovering a brand-new area and from what I have seen it looks really nice. It has Tesco and Sainsbury as well as Marks & Spencer. New discoveries in London is always great by me! 🕺🏼
I know what it is like when you first arrive in London… You need to see something that is familiar to you (…for me, it’s Big Ben) so I suggested to Richard that we head straight for old Compton Street… As tired as I was so pleased to see Richard loving every minute of it… 😝😇😍
Oh, I meant to mention how the entire UK 🇬🇧 went into panic mode because it was hot 🥵 for two days! The news was on every paper and on every TV news report! It was so funny… 😂 You would’ve thought a bomb 💣 had dropped… It was big news 📰 I suppose it doesn’t happen that much… But it was funny to see how it played out. 😝☀️🔥
…anyway, not much else to report… Only that I am so happy to have an extra few days in this amazing and effervescent city!
Enjoy the few pics from today & over the past 24 hours…🕺🏼🇬🇧❤️🍷🥰Leggi altro

Happy UK 🇬🇧 Father’s Day!
19 giugno 2022, Inghilterra ⋅ ☁️ 11 °C
Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful dads out there! A big hello to my own Dad! He deserves two Father’s Days in my book. I’m just getting up while Australia is at the end of the Sunday… Looking forward to the next two jam-packed ABBA experience days! Tonight Mamma Mia, the party 🎉 And tomorrow night, at last… The ABBA Voyage concert which is getting absolute rave reviews!
This is the Platinum Jubilee trip so it would be remiss of me to not post a brand-new image of William, Charlotte, George and cheeky Louis to celebrate and reflect on all our own Fathers mean to us! ❤️❤️❤️Leggi altro

Beneath the Heath 🌳 & Camden Market
19 giugno 2022, Inghilterra ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C
Busy! Seems to be tourists everywhere today. Journeyed on the Northern Line to Hampstead: the deepest tube station in the underground system. It has lifts because there are over 320 steps to the platforms!
I intended to do a walking tour around Hamstead but decided to go alone and just have a wander around today! It is such a pretty village which is so close to Central London. The Hamstead Heath is also part of this area. George Michael used to frequent that often. Say no more 😝
On my way back I stopped off at the Camden markets. They were insanely busy which was probably more annoying than fun. I dodged the crowds the best I could and enjoyed a toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream… It was delicious 😋
I started to feel a little flat today due to the fact that our hotel is not really that nice and I felt a bit angry 😠 again that the Airbnb had cancelled at Kensington which would have been a much nicer area. Don’t get me wrong, I am trying to turn lemons 🍋 into lemonade and I’m sure that will override this feeling. 🤞
There is also a full week of train 🚊 strikes to occur from Tuesday in London which is kinda annoying as well… 😕👎🏻💩
I never quite understand public transport strikes because it really affects the general public more than anyone else. In a city like London where there are international travellers trying to enjoy their long overdue holiday after the pandemic it seems pretty selfish to me. 🙅🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
Oh well… Them‘s the breaks! Mamma Mia: Tge Party 🎉 tonight should lift our spirits!

Mamma Mia: The Party 🎉🕺🏼🌺☀️🥗
19 giugno 2022, Inghilterra ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C
A balmy 23 glorious degrees as you enter the island 🏝 of Skopelos. Crickets 🦗 chirp & Greek music 🎵 plays as you are strategically and well organised taken to your table under the pergola entwined with vines 🍃and flowers 🌺 Authentic & welcoming… served delicious Mezze 🫒 of olives, dips, breads & tangy Greek salad 🥗. Musicians circle, chat and mingle. And, then…
The hits begin!
What an amazing interactive performance it becomes… All of the actors & musicians circle the entire venue and make everybody feel part of the action! 🕺🏼💃🏼🕺🏼💃🏼 The waiters become actors and enthusiastically embrace the surroundings.
You are reminded how many amazing songs ABBA actually have. It is hit after hit after hit! Even some of the lesser known songs from the back catalogue are used to perfection in the performance. Everybody in the audience/tables feel like they are on the stage and the emotion is palpable. I honestly had a tear (…actually quite a few) in my eye just thinking how lucky I am to be here! 🥰
By the way: the food is superb. Everything is cooked to perfection & really delicious and fantastic quality. Extremely clever and appropriate menu of Greek delights! Tender lamb and beef with tantalising lemon potatoes & zucchini. Speaking of delights…the boys in the show are beautiful too 😝😍 😝
Benny and Bjorn are Masters in manipulative marketing! I mean that in a really good way: Even if you were not an ABBA fan (unlikely in this room) you would still be completely and utterly transported away to the island they are representing here. It is absolutely amazing and beautiful. What a truly wonderful experience. This will allow ABBA’s astonishing music 🎼 to continue on for generations to come. The most amazing part of the experience is that you actually feel like you are on an island in Greece (even down to temperature of the room!) and this is all happening around you; literally & naturally. Who can do that?
Only ABBA! ❤️❤️❤️
You never have to wait for anything; food, drinks, service: there are enough waiters and waitresses who double as performers to cater for your every need. Yes! I am gushing but I am so glad that I was not disappointed. It is pure magic! 👍🏻🌺
The next 24 hours will have me an emotional ABBAwreck! 😜
There are 3 acts which are skilfully and purposefully wrapped around each deliciously prepared course! It’s a whole lotta bang for your buck! Well worth every cent. The ticket 🎟 price is high but we were upgraded as well: to a table right inside the action…no value or price can be associated with such a privileged ‘experience’ 🕺🏼
Not only do you get this thoughtful & well produced show (slightly resembling the original Mamma Mia) but the entire room becomes a gigantic glitter ball ABBA disco! Everybody goes joyously crazy, as they should!
I can only imagine what future generations will think of this amazing band and a legacy they have left! The absolute beauty of this is that we have people from all ages and all walks of life enjoying every moment!
ABBASOLUTELY Brilliant!
🕺🏼💃🏼💃🏼🕺🏼🥰❤️🎉Leggi altro

ViaggiatoreIt is well worth every cent… It was quite expensive but it is basically a three act show, a concert, a disco and a meal all in one!

wow Troy it looks great what amazing start to the next step of your ABBA experience the concert to morrow night will be great too xx [us]

ViaggiatoreIt was fantastic! They do such a fantastic job… I am really looking forward to the voyage concert tomorrow… x

After discovering the most delicious little French bakery for breakfast (Brekky plate with soft boiled egg 🥚croissant 🥐 fresh bread 🥖 juice 🧃 & coffee ☕️ £10) we headed to Skygarden in the building known as the ‘Cheese Grater” for obvious reasons! London likes to give nicknames to all their buildings: such as Gherkin or Shard.
It was beautiful within the gardens. Perfect place to relax & unwind post Mamma Mia & pre-Voyage…Got an ice cold Cider 🍺 and just sat on the comfy sofas.
We visited the impressive Superbloom moat of colour around the Tower of London. It was absolutely stunning. Planted to commemorate the 70th Jubilee celebrations. It will now be an ever-changing permanent living artwork! 🌺🌸🌼🌻🌷☀️ The flowers chosen were all part of Queen Elizabeth‘s coronation dress 👗
We wandered along the Thames until we found a riverside pub. Guinness 🍺 and Scampi 🍤 with mushy peas 😋
Weather heating up again! Big news 📰 is, unfortunately, biggest rail 🚊 strike for rest of week! Thanks a bunch of Superblooms you fu##ing Unions! 😵💫💩😤Leggi altro

ABBA Voyage 🌖
20 giugno 2022, Inghilterra ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C
5.11pm: On MY voyage to see a ABBA on their Voyage. To say I am excited is does not even cover it! Not only did fans ever think we would get another ABBA song after 40 years but we get an entire new album 💿 last year AND we also got this concert experience! I am leaving early to absorb all the atmosphere around the stadium! 🕺🏼I was always too young to get to go to their Australian shows so this is the best anyone in my situation will ever get. Reviews are in and they all all extremely positive. My expectations are high.
…Night is young & the music’s high..!
6.02pm: Arrival! Wow! Someone yells out “Welcome to ABBA..!” Cheers 🥂 exploded 💥
You could just tell how excited 😜 the crowd were! It felt like I was the only person attending alone…but, trust me, unless I was with someone who “gets” this concert 🎶 (…Ian!!!!) then on my own, to Abbasolutely absorb everything is just fine with me and my Passionfruit Spritz! 🍹
After 50+ years waiting and travelling 🧭 half way around the world 🌍 for this I’m feeling 100% selfishly excited for this moment that will never happen again (…again, Ian…😝)
This is my own personal Jubilee treat & I’m gonna relish every second 🎉👍🏻💋
…Tonight I’m loose & fancy-free ah-ah..!
7.21pm: So, I’m inside and the auditorium is huge! Everyone is so excited. This is when it comes in handy to be by yourself. You can go where ever you want to go! Best seats in the house. No compromise…
…Now I hear them moving, muffled noises coming through the door…!
Show starts at 7.45pm…
…Lay all your love ❤️ on me..!
9.55pm
…You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life…
And everyone did! 🎉🕺🏼💃🏼💃🏼🕺🏼❤️
Now, you know that Benny, Bjorn, Frida & Agnetha are not actually on stage but the ABBAtars are so realistic that you have to question your own thoughts and judgments. The four members actually speak to the audience who cheer, applaud 👏 and whistle in adoration constantly. They even introduce the live band and each other. They joke with each other and the audience and tell stories. But, it’s more than just the concert. It’s also a laser and light show which is just perfection. Sometimes the audience singing almost overshadows ABBA’s vocals. You can feel the love ❤️ in the air! The costumes are just beautiful too!
Now…the photos definitely don’t do the show justice. There was an extremely strict NO photos or video policy which actually was a great idea because you were not constantly watching through a phone 📱 like most other events. Trust me, they were really enforcing it too! I got a tap on the shoulder at one point. Sorry. Not sorry 😣
So, if you want to experience it you’ll have to check out the many clips on YouTube (…most not great…probably why they made this new rule!) or get to enjoy it somewhere in the future! But! I was flying the flag 🇦🇺 for all my mates that can’t make it yet, so I took some sneaky shots! 😝😱🫣
A really lovely final touch was when all 4 current day members walked out and took a bow 🙇♂️
It truly was an amazing experience which surpassed my expectations…👏👏👏💋
They certainly do have it in them. Everyone still has faith in them! ✊🏻
…See that girl, watch that scene, digging the Dancing Queen…
🕺🏼💃🏼💃🏼🕺🏼
7.42am
The day AFTER they came 😝
I slept with my ABBA voyage wristband on… And when I woke up I was just still buzzing from the amazing experience. I have been watching so many YouTube clips and re-living every special moment… It is extremely difficult to explain to people if they are not sure about this technology. But all you really need to know is that it is groundbreaking and ABBA have always been the first with innovation… I think the most beautiful part of the concert was when each member had their personal moment to speak through their digital avatars to tell the audience how much they love and appreciate us and all the support over the last 50 years… Truly magical… 🥰🥰🥰

I just begrudgingly took my ABBA Voyage wristband off. Thinking of going again Sunday prior to going home Monday 🥰
…Thank you for the music…for giving it to me…!Leggi altro
