旅行者It's a long day indeed! I hope the closure of the albergue in Rioja is only temporary. My darling won't be able to walk all the way to Santa Fe de Mondujar from Almería.
Debi BrockReplying from Granada, I would say shorter days are best for enjoying the experience. Either that, or begin walking at dawn and take a good long break mid way!

We also walked alongside many orange groves, and sampled a few. We were impressed by how well we are already adapting to the altitude and climbs. Another good day. Not sure why G chose to focus on food, other than we didn’t have much to eat today and arrived at our destination pretty hungry.🤤

Debi BrockLots of solo women do walk here. However, It is an ugly stage and not worth your day, and hard on the feet as well. I now get on a bus or in a taxi when faced with many km of pavement as it took years to recover from plantar fasciitis and I don’t want a reoccurrence. The tourist office can show you where to get the bus.

Laurie ReynoldsAlbergue in Villaharta! Great news. When I was there, the couple running the bar/pilgrim rooms place were very eager to retire. I showed up at the last minute and was very lucky that they put me in a bed in their garage! Is the albergue a municipal one?
旅行者Yep, it is a municipal one. Reservation before 14.00 hours as the ayuntamiento then closes.
旅行者You call before 2pm that you want to reserve a spot, and then tell that you will arrive after 2 pm. Then they will give you another telephone number that you can call when you arrive at the albergue. They then either will give you the keybox code or in this case she came over to hand us the key.
