Blue-Green Highways... 2023.

had a lovely, lovely walk through the woods on the other side of the lake this morning. a number of very interesting issues emerged in the woods. the South Dakota department of forestry really seems to have taken an in-depth look at the health of the forest. my natural traveling partner Connie showed me where trees had been filled and now the sunlight came pouring through to allow for grass and other species to have a chance at at growing. we also saw a spruce sapling with a ponderosa right next to it the aspen. All three and that according to Connie was a very, very good the sign of a recovering forest and a healthy one at that. all this was due to to the greed of clear cutting and cutting out the species of tree that didn't would not produce a dollar. I'm hoping that clear cutting is now a thing of the past.
I interviewed on camera a woman Denise by name who I said on camera that her husband and herself have been coming here for the past 15 years. she said that when they had first started coming here the slope on the other side of the lake had been decimated by a pine beetle. she I said on camera that the state of South Dakota and their forestry department had certainly come to the help of the Pineville to eradicate the pine beetle. as the clip shows the forest now is truly very healthy looking toto my amateur eye.
one of the joys of not being chained to a schedule and having to get somewhere with by a certain date is that we was supposed to go down to the Badlands park today then we decided to hang ten and create art so we'll go down to the Badlands tomorrow and possibly stay another day.
and if I do not get on with editing the dailies I am going to be stuck with too many clips to identify and edit. I certainly haven't given up on the blue highways and the effect of the video of the climate crisis on nature and how to describe that in on the video. I really think I have something going here. the thing I'm almost convinced of unless I receive an option, a real live studio option, I have given up on movie making and all the rest of that crap.
We should be off to the Badlands tomorrow, that is going to be a long day There might be an entry on Penguins tomorrow, then again there might be multiple if we find ourselves in contact with a Wi-Fi connection, if not stay tuned.
