Next stop for me was Halls Falls.
This walk was a little bit longer, but still nothing bad. Partly step but nothing bad. Really nice rainforest to walk through and what a wonderful river with many smaller falls and the bigger Halls Falls.
I left around 13:30pm to drive to the Bay of Fires, weather is really good now so I am really looking forward to this!

    5. maaliskuuta 2023, Australia ⋅ 🌙 21 °C

I arrived at the Gardens - Bay of Fires at 14:15pm. Amazing weather, still 26 degrees with a nice breeze.
It's had to describe the area, it's simply amazing!!!
There are this smaller beautiful beaches with white sand and then alle the rocks with this grey and red colors.
    Totally amazing.
You can climb/walk around and over the rocks, so the more i was walking around the more small bays with small beaches and even one very big beach i found.
I found a nice rock to sit on and had my lunch break here. Could have stayed here for hours, but so much more to discover!

    5. maaliskuuta 2023, Australia ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

On the way back to St Helens a stopped quite a few times to take a look around at the coast.
Taylors Beach was very nice, but the waves were massive! 😳
At Sloop Rocks Lookout I did the short walk to the rocks and then all over the rocks to get a good look over the area and the surroundings.
I just love the Bay of Fires. So beautiful and I am so happy the weather is so nice today. I wasn't expecting that after last night and this night should be the same bad again..
So I am just enjoying it.
Back at the carpark I started to talk to a sound German girl. She gave me tips and i could also gave her some tips so in the end we were talking like an hour or so.
At 16:30pm i left from there to get to Binalong Bay.

Binalong Bay is a lovely little town with some beautiful beaches and rocks.
Did I said already, that I really love this area?
I think at least once, probably more often 😉
I walked around here from beach to beach, bay to bay.
Wanted to drive to Skeleton Bay as well, but after 3 km the road was closed so I had to turn around.
I will do that one next time!
I left from here around 5:30pm to drive to my last stop for today.

Last stop for today, Beerbarrel Beach. Also a recommendation from the reception staff yesterday.
From here you should have a really good view over the other side of the coast, but unfortunately it was a lot mist in the air so I couldn't see the coastline clearly.
But anyway again a very nice beach. Such a beautiful place.
From here it was only 15 minutes to the campground.
I went to get my wash and also went to shower on the way. When the wash was done it was already 7:30pm and i was throwing all into a dryer and went to cook dinner at the mean time. After dinner i went to pick up my dry wash, folded all in my still very warm cabin and then I was just relaxing for the evening and watching the next thunderstorm coming closer 😬
Tomorrow I will try to leave early, there is much on my schedule for tomorrow. Another long day ahead.
Hope the weather is with me again 🤞

    I woke up at 7:35am.
I did sleep very good this night. Didn't even woke up from the rain.
Got up quite fast and had breakfast as I want to leave as early as possible today. So I packed all my stuff, load all to the car.
Weather is s already really nice, looking forward for an other day nice and warm.
Left the campground around 8:50am and started driving to Bicheno.
First i stopped at the Penguin Beach.
Nice little beach, but of coarse no penguins there on the day. Next stop was at the blowhole, just a few kilometers away from the Penguin Beach.
That was really amazing! The ocean was moving s lot the the blowhole had something to do.

    6. maaliskuuta 2023, Australia ⋅ 🌬 20 °C

First stop in Freycinet was at the Information Center.
Checked ot the walks. Due to the rain last night, they recommend not to got up on Mt Atmos. The track is very challenging and now when it's wet even slippery. So I decided to do the Wineglass Bay Walk.
From the Information Center it was a short drive to the carpark, around 10 minutes. Found a space to park and started the walk at 11:50am.
First up, the Wineglass Bay Lookout, around 400 steps in front of me 💪
Good it's just around 21 degrees at the moment. Had to stop a few times but what a beautiful walk it is and to worth it! The view over the Bay was amazing.

From the Lookout it's a steep walk down the hill to Wineglass Bay, around 900 steps the man at the Visitor Center told me.. 😬
Walking down the super steep part, I started to regard my plan to make it a return trip..
I met a couple on the way and they said, I should go for the Wineglass Bay and Hazards Beach Circuit. That way I skip walking up all the steps again.
It's a 11km walk that should take around 5 hours, but they said, they have done it in unter 4 hours so far with 40 break in between.
That was all I needed to here.
I will go the Circuit. 💪
Exactly 1 hour after i left the carpark I arrived at the Wineglass Bay.
What a beautiful beach! White sand, turquoise water, the grey and red rocks - I love it!
I had a 20 minutes break here, walking through the water. För me, to cold to go for a swim, but many people did!
1:10pm I left to walk over the Isthmus Track.
It was a nice and easy flat walk through some rainforest.
30 minutes late I arrived at Hazards Beach.

    6. maaliskuuta 2023, Australia ⋅ 🌬 21 °C

It was super windy at Hazards Beach. Hade to moved my planned lunch break a little bit until I reached the end of the beach where the track continues in the forest to find some shelter to eat. Hat just like a 15 minutes break, climbed a little bit over the rocks to see the small bays behind it, so beautiful!
And then I left from here, ready for the last part of the trip, the walk up the hill but slowly, not step, just part by part.
Really nice walk, not so challenging, but it got warm as the trees block the wind but are still to small to block the sun. So the heat was not so nice, and it's not even so warm! Just like 22-23 degrees.
I arrived at the carpark at 3:25pm, so I took me 3 hours and 35 minutes for the 11km walk, included the 35 minutes breaks. And not counting on all the times i stopped to catch my breath, drink something or apply sunscreen again.
    I think I did pretty good! 💪😉
From here I went to Triabunna. A 1 1/2 hour drive south.

Easy evening for me. Went to "bed" early, as I have to get up early tomorrow to catch the first Ferry to Maria Island.

Got some rain over night, around 2-4am and unfortunately also a lot of wind. And my tent was leaking in water 😬 Probably because of the wind, but anyway not nice. I was staying dry at least, it was leaking in from the entrance down on the floor.

After being awake between 2 and 4 am due to the rain, I woke up again shortly before 6 am due to the wind, that has become pretty bad. Got up at 6:30 and packed up some stuff and tried to dry up my tent from the inside. It's not really bad, but there was coming in water.
I had breakfast and was just happy, that I prepared my bag for Maria Island already yesterday, even the wraps for lunch was already done!
Looked up an accomodation for to night at the Tasman Peninsula, as it's supposed to rain a lot and still blow.
Hard to find something, all seems to be booked out. But luckily I found one hotel room and booked it straight away.
Went to the wharf at 7:50am.
Was no problem at all to get a ferry ticket. 8:30 am we left Triabunna to go to Maria Island.
The ride was bumpy. It was really "interesting"
It took us around 45 minutes to Darlington, Maria Island.
Leaving the boat i started directly with the Fossil Cliffs walk.
First part was going basically up hill almost all the time. Did see a Cape Barren Goose straight away.
And shortly after that some kangaroos chilling out. And then I was kangaroos everywhere. Amazing to see so many of them around. Probably some Wallabies as well, but hard to tell from a distance.
Unfortunately the walk down to the Fossil Cliffs is closed due to a landslide.
I get fighting my way up a steeper hill and even fighting the string wind.
Und the returning walk to Darlington I decided to continue on the Reservoir Circuit straight away as I am passing it in the way.

As I was super early in Darlington, the town on Maria Island, I was wondering around looking for some Wombats.
Didn't find any Wombat but found some Tasmania Pademelon. Super cute tiny little Wallabies.
They are easily scared so I had to move very slowly around them to get some nice pictures.
Did then walk to the Painted Cliffs. Took the longer part through the forest and saw some more Pademelon. They are so cute and always hiding under som bushes. So you need to have the eyes open to see them.
Arrived at the Painted Cliffs around 12:30pm. Ist still 3 hours until low-tide. You can enter them best at low-tide. I was hoping it might be possible earlier but the wind is bushing in the waves towards the coast. And the wind is just getting worst. I decided to wait one more hour and kept on walking on the track. Lucky me, there was another Wombat.
Arrived back at the Painted Cliffs shortly past 1 pm. Had a lunch break.
Then I walked a little bit on the cliffs, as far as it was possible and decided not to book on to the last ferry at 4:15pm just leave this one for the next time.
The wind is horrible and it will be even a time problem with the last ferry, as you are supposed to be there 15 minutes before departure and it takes at least 30 minutes to walk to the ferry.

Many people haven't seen a Wombat at all today, so I am happy with the two I saw.
The ferry ride was even worst than this morning. It's really big waves and not so pleasant. But we made it back safe.
Back in Triabunna the wind was horrible as well. I went to buy some fish and chips. Have been feeling for it for a while and this once are supposed to be really good!
I ate them in my car, because I wanted to be out of the wind.
I am tired of the wind. Very tired!
The fish and chips were really good!

Was waiting for a while as I still had time before I needed to leave the campground. Luckily it was just a short shower so I in the end went to the carpark and started the Fluted Cape Walk.
Decided to first to the easy walk to the Grass Point and then see how the weather is and if I am feeling for keep on going.
As it was so easy and the weather still dry, i went on for the whole Fluted Cape Walk.
If I would have know what was in front of me, I think I would have turned around.
It started first to go up hill nice and easy but after e while it got steeper and steeper. Holy moly that was not a nice walk anymore. Had to be super careful to not miss the track or step wrong. The track is closed to the cliff and not really a track, more a path over rocks and roots. Totally crazy.
Had to stop quite a few times on the way up, but finally made it to the top! The view was awesome, even withe the clouds. As I was a little bit confused about where the Alonnah Sheepwash Bay Track is starting. I stopped the car outside a public toilet and tried to figure it out. As I looked out of the left window I sa an Echidna walking out from a bush and over the grass. So I grabbed my phone and got out of the car as some motorcycles where passing on the many road. As I come around my car, the Echidna s gone. And I was just like: Oh no nat again.
But then I saw it coming out of the bush again. Walking some steps towards me and then deciding to walk over the gravel road to the high green grass on the other side. How amazing to see this. So fantastic. What a cute little fella.
I then just followed the gravel road for a few hundred meters to the carpark and the start of the track.
It was a lovely easy walk. Just what I was looking after.
At a picnic area I had a short lunch break and then went back to the car as the clouds are getting darker again.
So I went to the harbour and had just to wait a couple of minutes for the ferry to arrive. And then I was already back on the mainland again.
From here I went to Dodges Ferry where I will spent my last night in Tassie. So sad to leave this beautiful part of Australia but looking forward for some warmer weather. 😅
The small campkitchen was really busy in the evening but i managed to squeeze in and cook dinner. Many people from France and Italy are here so it's a loud mix of all different languages. A little bit to much for me as tired as I am.

Went to bed early as I have to get up in time tomorrow.
Didn't work out so well, as some people closed to my tent had a long night. And they haven been pretty loud too. Smashing the doors from the cars all the time talking and laughing loud, listening to music. And I am not over sensitive no, I used earplugs and could still here and even understand them!
Around 3 o'clock they finally went to sleep too.

After a night with to less sleep thanks to the people around me, I got up around 6:45am to have breakfast and pack the rest of my stuff and see what equipment i bought here I can push into my bag as well.

Didn't got so much with me unfortunately, but i really wanted to take the warm and cosy blanket with me, as it's a good blanket and it was expensive too. So I left the tent, airbed and the other stuff behind. Maybe someone will be happy about it. I left he campground around 8:30am, went to a fuel station to fuel up and after that drove to the airport. I checked the car one more time, but seems like I got it all with me. Awesome.
So I went to drop off the keys and after that I went to drop off my bag and after that straight to the security check. So I have some time left to relax and of course also this flight is a few minutes delayed. Nothing new to me.
The flight was going fast again so wie arrived in Melbourne around 12:10pm.

Unfortunately we had to wait quite long for our bags. Again.. so it was almost 2 pm until I picked up my new friend for the next three weeks. The red lady! 😉

I was spending almost an hour, still in the carpark at the airport, trying to find a campground on Philip Island, that has still a spot free. Unfortunately I didn't know, that it's a long weekend here and everything ist booked out since weeks or even months. So I gave up in the end, changed my plans and was booking a campground in Rockbank. Other side of Melbourne. just away from the all the others.
Next nightmare, leaving Melbourne in this horrible traffic.
And an other number nightmare, trying to find a tent, camping gas cooker, airbed, pump...
Impossible! Especially the tent and camping gas cooker. Kmart hast nothing, nothing at all in all stores around Melbourne. I was really getting stressed, didn't know what to do, where to go. And then I found the "Big W" !!
A store similar to Kmart and they have everything! Finally!
God I was totally finished after trying to find equipment for over two hours. All that was left now was to buy some food and after that I went straight to the campground.
Noticing that I bought the wrong airpump I had to blow up my airbed by myself. What a day...
After a hot shower and some dinner, (I didn't had lunch) and some good talks with some french people I went to bed around 9:30pm.

    What a day...
