Day 0.5 the long awaited encounter

    July 28, 2022 in Latvia ⋅ 🌧 17 °C

Another: I almost started the trip day (and hopefully the last) finished yesterday. I finally picked up the bike @simplebikestoreriga getting to know the lovely mechanic and creator of @bungibungibikes who was accompanying me faithfully through the last month of waiting. We had a lovely chat about how he became the bike specialist he is today. The most annoying part of the day was the lost of a screw of the innerbarends during the test drive. Incredible that I still found it :) only tasks for today: get groceries, the stickers I ordered yesterday and manage to do the live stream!

I’m so exited: haven’t figured out my first days route yet :)

    Day 1 unexpectedly adventurous

    July 29, 2022 in Latvia ⋅ 🌙 15 °C

    Day 1
what an incredible start: i woke up energised and motivated after enough hours of valuable sleep (Which was more than necessary after 5 days of 3-6 hours of sleep the last days) awesome weather, smooth packing and a tasty breakfast from a real bakery (that I was missing a lot in Tallinn) set the mood for a good start.

I was super exited before the start and the stream, but the packing took too much time. Soo it was rather a packing than a cycling stream. I really want to stream for you during riding aswell. I’m thinking about doing one on Sunday :) I was so happy to finally be in the saddle riding. All my detailed planning paid off: the setup worked perfectly and the riding was surprisingly easy although I was carrying 50 kilos of bass and equipment. The end of the day was spiced up by an adventurous search for a place to sleep. A sandy road forced me to stop. I found a small asphalt path into the forest who brought me to a steep hill which was hiding in the darkness. The exploration of the top brought me to an abandoned beach over which the sky was still coloured in red. When I was planning the ride I always imagined this kind of adventure: cycling through a forest and sleeping next to the beach. #

I can’t believe it turned into reality the very first day!
Today I checked the distance I cycled! 45km although I started at 19.00 in the evening.

Day 2 the calming of myself

    July 30, 2022 in Latvia ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

    Day 2
All the pressure from the preparation dropped and I needed to completly reenergise mentally and physically. So why not make a break the the second day? I ended up enjoying the first part of the day fully. But felt super exhausted and down after a 3 hours nap in the afternoon. I felt like someone puts pressure on me to keep on with my productivity mindset from the last days. I couldn’t really convince myself to let it go. I guess it still needs some time. Missing the sunset also made me kinda angry, but the calming of the evening atmosphere with a nice audiobook from my childhood let me find peace for the evening. It seems that I really needed this break for myself. But the bass is still waiting to be played, the resistance is not gone just because im in the forest :)

Let’s see how I can convince my critic to be a bit more supportive the next days ;)

Day 07 Keep balance by starting

    August 5, 2022 in Latvia ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

    Day 07
Starting such a big journey is really tough. I didn’t realised it last week, but it really seemed that I wasn’t ready. not from the planning side, although you could always find something to optimise still, but from the emotional part. I finally overcame the fear of really starting alone hitting the road fully and embrace myself to the pure loneliness and rough unknowing of being out there. But when I finally made it yesterday it blew all the lethargic excuses for not finally starting really away. And ones your rolling, you’re rolling and it seems like nothing can stop you. I found this quote of Albert Einstein for the last video I made (check it if you haven’t yet, link to my YouTube channel in my bio): life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you need to start moving.
Yesterday it was a tough start. It began with taking a risky path into the forest which ended in the middle of nowhere. But ones on the road my mood got better and better. After a break near a lake I decided to go all in to take the mild evening to finally do the 70km I set for myself as a daily goal. I found an ok place to sleep, but instead of just falling to bed, which was very tempting, I decided to properly care for myself and make a nice candlelight dinner. It would have been just perfect, when I wouldn’t have checked the weather before going to bed. I thought It wouldn’t be raining for sure, since there was a pure sky with trillions of stars. Putting up the roof for my hammock was not very nice in the middle of the night without being able to see anything, but it was definitely worth it since the alternative would have been to wake up soaked at 7.

The first week is over and there is a lot to come! I’m super exited, specially to announce, that I will do a little live stream concert from the forest on Sunday (tomorrow) at 18pm (Latvian time) I will answer all questions concerning my trip and hope to get the first donations. You can find the link to my twitch in my bio. So save the date and put some beers cold, so we can have a cosy concert tomorrow.
