Our Cross Country Trip

We spent today at Yellowstone National Park. We entered through the west entrance after spending the previous night at the KOA in West Yellowstone. First on the agenda was to find a campground which we did within the park at Indian Creek Campground. It's dry camping so no perks like electricity for the next couple of days. Next we visited the Mammoth Springs and did the hour walk to see them all up close. The land formations were very different from the forest and meadows in other parts of the park. Taking the recommendation of last night's camping neighbors, we ventured to Boiling River which is a place where the hot springs empty into a cold river. We were able to wade and sit in the stream once we found the spot that wasn't too hot or too cold. After our soak in the river, we traveled to a picnic area and had a picnic dinner which ended with a red fox coming to visit. All other picnicers gathered by our table to watch the fox which came very close...I retreated to the camper, Robert throw a rock and off it went. We almost got pinned into the area though, because as cars approached and saw a group of people looking in the same direction, everyone stopped to join. This was the case a few miles down the road where there were lots and lots of bison. Some were close to the road, some were peppering the meadows and one was walking down the road. Their massive size made them fun to watch. After this we called it a day and headed back to our campground but not before we saw more buffalo, prong-horns (antelope) and elk. Czytaj więcej
