Australian Native Gardens Port Augusta

Visited the Australian Native Botanical Gardens, beautiful wildflowers throughout the garden. Had a great coffee and a piece of sponge roll with quandong jam, beautiful.
Port Augusta, SA

Arrived Port Augusta, Camped at the Caravan Park at the head of the Spencer Gulf. Beautiful view across the southern end of the Flinders Ranges. Shunting trains kept going all night.

Penong

Fowler's Bay

Stopped at Fowlers Bay, caught sight of our first whale, got a distant picture of the whale blowing water. Had a coffee from the café (not brilliant) whilst sitting on our chairs at the ocean.Leggi altro
Head of the Bight

Head of the Bight, got some great pictures of a mother and her calf just lazing about below us. Beautiful blue colour of the sea, great shots of the waves crashing against the bluff.

Nullarbor

Crossed into the WA border. Had intentions of camping at Eucla, turned out to be a dud, so moved on. Got to Caguina, blowing a gale, so much we would not have been able to put up the tent so stayed inLeggi altro
Murrawijinie Caves (Nullarbor)

Headed west to start our journey across the Nullarbor Plains. Camped the night at the Murrawijinie Caves – very rough track in, when we eventually found it. Saw some aboriginal rock art; a dingoLeggi altro
Dundas

Made it to Norseman, not as big a town as we thought, very basic. Got some salad and other supplies at the IGA, not much available. Had lunch at a picnic spot just on the outskirts of the town. Did aLeggi altro
Esperance

Arrived Esperance, everything closed. Had the first nice coffee since leaving Ceduna from a van parked near the foreshore. Drove to Hopetoun, very beautiful then on to Fitzgerald River National ParkLeggi altro
Fitzgerald River National Park

Spent the morning exploring the eastern side of Fitzgerald National Park. Beautiful wild flowers everywhere. Got some great photos of many different species as well as the fantastic views of theLeggi altro
Ravensthorpe

Spent the day at Ravensthorpe, about 60 klms from Fitzgeral National Park. Went to the Wild Flower Show and got some more photos of wild flowers. Unfortunately, I forgot to use my macro lens so a lotLeggi altro
Orengup

Packed up a very wet tent in the drizzling rain and headed for the Stirling Ranges. All the town names ended in “up” an aboriginal term for “Place”. Stopped at Orengup and went to the MuseumLeggi altro
Stirling Ranges National Park

Travelled the Stirling Range Road today, averaged 8klms an hour, taking 3.5 hours to travel 21 klms – reason? Wild flowers, of course, got a lot more today that we hadn’t seen before. Arrived Mt.Leggi altro
Porongurup

Frenchman's Bay

Went out to Frenchman’s Bay. Stopped at the Natural Bridge then the gap. Mick went out on the over hanging platform but didn’t look down. It was incredible to look down through the grate walkwayLeggi altro
Whaling Station

The whaling museum, incredible stories of the whole process of catching whales and cooking them to extract the oil. The Cheyne IV had been docked and is now a tourist attraction; had a good lookLeggi altro
Amity

Took a look around the Amity – the ship that bought the first convicts to Western Australia from Sydney. There were 23 convicts and about as many crew. A very small ship for so many people. TheLeggi altro
Denmark

Public holiday in WA for the Queen’s birthday, nothing open in Albany. Drove to Denmark, everything open, bought some foam to ease the hardness of the blow up mattress. Bought some lunch from theLeggi altro
Valley of the Giants

Drove to the Valley of the Giants and did the tree top walk. Very proud of Mick, he made it all the way, albeit hanging on tightly to the rails. Walked around the other part of the park, marvelling atLeggi altro
Fernhook Falls

Decided to stay at Fernhook Falls camp ground in the Mt Frankland National Park, incredibly beautiful. Spent some time this afternoon exploring the falls and getting some more pictures of Wild FlowersLeggi altro
Mt Frankland

Headed out early this morning, drove up to Mt Frankland, explored the old spotters hut and went up to the look out, beautiful views out over Mt Frankland National Park.
Shannon National Park

Took the Tall Timbers drive through Shannon National Park, some 40 klms through Kirri forrest – just so majestic. Stopped at Northcliffe for lunch at the Hollowbut Café where Mick had a Steak &Leggi altro
