Autofahrt nach Ceduna

Wir haben uns ein wenig mit der Zeit verschätzt und sind daher erst um 20 Uhr von Port Lincoln nach Ceduna losgefahren. Die Autofahrt sollte vier Stunden betragen. Wir wollten eigentlich nie wenn es dunkel ist fahren, da hier wirklich sehr viele Tiere nachts unterwegs sind (Leon hat in der Nacht vielleicht auch zwei Tiere umgefahren/angefahren). Da wir aber unseren Campingplatz schon bezahlt hatten, ging es für uns natürlich los😊
Irgendwann wurde unser Benzin knapper und wie ihr kennt haben wir beide ja seeehr viel Glück, wenn es etwas mit unserem Auto zu tun hat😂
Nach drei Tankstellen, die alle zu hatten dachten wir schon geil jetzt können wir bei einer Tankstelle im Auto schlafen, bis diese öffnet (was natürlich auch nicht erlaubt ist😂)
Ich habe dann mal schnell geschaut bis wo wir kommen könnten und habe eine 24 Stunden selfservice Tankstelle in Streaky bay gefunden. Mit 60km/h sind wir dann dorthin gefahren und haben es glücklicherweise auch geschafft 😂
Um Streaky bay herum war sehr viel Qualm in der Luft. Das hat schon echt übel gerochen😂 und aufeinmal haben Leon und ich in den Bäumen am Straßenrand irgendwelche Tiere sehen können😂 also die Form des Baums hat uns an ein Tier erinnert, dass wir dachten wir sind von dem Qualm irgendwie High geworden hahaha zum Glück nicht 😂
Um 1 Uhr nachts sind wir dann endlich am Campingplatz angekommen und haben das Zelt nur noch schnell aufgebaut und sind direkt schlafen gefangen 😂

Mir händ üs scho riesig uf üse camper gfreut und vor 5 täg händ en mir in adelaide chöne go hole. Sofort händ mir üs uf dä weg richtig weste gmacht. Vo adelaide sind mir zerscht e stuck im landesinnere gfahre, bis stross dänn dä küste no gführt hät. Überwältigendi idrück und wunderschöni naturszenarie händ mir dörfe erlebe. Und swetter hät au chli verruckt gspielt, vo 43 grad am einte tag zu 21 grad am nögschte 🙈 Mir händ atemberaubendi klippe gseh, strahlendblaus meer, Delfin und wundervolli ort. 3rd destination reached! Not long

So we left Broken hill early this morning and made our way to SA (Forgot to stop at the sign lol) we then we stopped just outside of Port Augusta to get this cool snap of the massive windfarms! We had maccas for lunch in Port augusta and kept driving, we stopped at a town called Kimba which is the halfway point in Australia. We are now in Ceduna and had awesome fish and chips for dinner. Went through checkpoint this morning- no fruit or veg so sailed through. Stocked up on beer,fuel and food and a little more beer just in case ready for the trip down the Eyre Peninsula. Oyster shack was shut so will have to try tommorrow morning before we leave for Streaky Bay- Don't look Ethel!! Finished the last two holes of the Nullarbor Links at Ceduna and received a certificate for my efforts. The red shirt can now have a rest- for a day or two.Read more

Left Port Augusta early - a cold start but soon 20+.
The country on to Kimba was mostly pastoral with dense stands of saltbush, bluebush and other herbage . Iron Knob with its shades of red and brown stood out with its open faced workings and excavations - won't be a knob one day , it will have vanished.
Wonderful roads straight as your eyes could see past Kimba , leaving the grazing country behind as it changed to expansive cropping land . There were many fallowed paddocks , a few being sown and some with a tinge of green shoots. Looked quite dry.Read more

Day 4 Elliston to Ceduna

Today we were back on the road getting closer to the Nullabor.
We packed up from the Walker's Rock Campground in the morning and said some goodbyes to some people we had met while there.
Once on the road we stopped at a landmark named Murphy's Haystack for some pictures and stopped at Streaky Bay for lunch on the beach while being entertained by a group of friendly seagulls.
At last we arrived at a Big 4 caravan park in Ceduna. Tomorrow we start on the Nullabor.Read more

Got into Ceduna to stay the night. The time zone changed so it was later than expected. Checked into a park and had dinner that night at a nice waterfront club.
Not much here unless you like fishing from the wharf! Would be fantastic if you had a boat.
There were flocks of birds flying around getting ready to roost which put on a good show.Read more
