The Port of Lavrio

Bogdan, Beata, their sons Kuba and Michael, and about 13 other Poles met us at the airport in Athens. We had just turned in our car and they all arrived from Wroclaw. We'll be in 2 sailboats for 10 nights and everyone is excited.

Michael booked a bus to take us all to the port of Lavrio, SE of Athens. It's where charter sailboats harbor. Our boat will be ready at 5pm, so today is mostly about preparing to leave in the morning.

A few of us will buy provisions while the rest of us kick back . This will probably be the easiest day of our trip! I'm so glad we rented the car, but I'm also glad to be done driving.

We will have an easy sailing day tomorrow. Maybe we will go to Kythnos first.

Da Sunio verso Est

Percorso verso la costa a est di Capo Sunio. Si incontra il sito archeologico di Thoriko risalente a 2000 anni prima di Cristo. In questa zona vi erano miniere di argento. Purtroppo non resta molto se non i resti del magnifico teatro a forma semiovoidale dal quale si intravede quella che era l' Acropoli. La sensazione di essere comunque in un luogo rimasto per parecchi anni una zona ricca e fiorente. Bagno di fine giornata a Kaki Thalassa, dove il fondale è sassoso e profondo, ricco di pesci e con acqua super trasparente!!Baca lagi

So meine Lieben, die Reise neigt sich dem Ende zu, morgen vor 10 Tagen bestiegen wir die Rhea. Wie schnell doch die Zeit vergeht. Ich nehme viele Eindrücke mit, die Szenen, die Menschen die Emotionen. Ich höre gerade Sade, sie setzt mich in der Zeit zurück und lässt mich die Eindrücke fühlen, dank KI von Spotify, ist nach dem best of Album noch nicht Schluss und es geht weiter mit Chris Rea, Delegation usw. Mit Reisen ist auch noch nicht Schluss, wir sehen uns ab nächster Woche wieder wenn ich australischen Boden betrete. Zuerst werde ich ein Monat australische Wildtiere retten. I keep updatet.Baca lagi

Cap saunion

Nous sommes arrivés au cap-saunion sous un soleil paradisiaque, on est descendu dans une petite crique à l'écart des touristes, on a l'impression que la crique nous appartient. Le paysage est tellement beau que aujourd'hui on décide de sauter le repas pour pouvoir profiter au maximum de la vue de l'eau du soleil. Il manque juste un mojito et ça serait le paradisBaca lagi

Tempelj Pozejdonu stoji na strateškem rtu Sounion in je poleg svetišča služil tudi za nadzor morskega dostopa do Aten.

Tale je že druga verzija, prvo je dal porušiti Perzijec Xerex I (jup, taisti, ki nastopa v zgodbi s 300 Spartanci v Termopilah).

Obiskala sva ga v popoldanskem soncu brez oblačka, so pa moja pričakovanja o romantičnem večeru z vinčkom v roki in sončnem zahodu med tempeljskimi stebri izpuhtela v trenutku, ko sva začela iskat parkplac med avtobusi, turističnimi kombiji, taxiji in najetimi avti. Sva imela srečo z najinim velikim kamperjem in se spustila med množico turistov pogledat vseeno, kar je od romantike ostalo.

V glavnem, zdaj ga gledava s sosednjega zaliva, kjer bova prespala. Sončni zahod je bil spet lep, unega iz guide booka sva zamudila, imava pa miren plac direkt ob morju s čudovitim pogledom :)Baca lagi

Poseidon Temple, Sunset tour

Today we had a quiet morning because Mama was still not feeling well. In the afternoon we had a sunset tour to the Temple Of Poseidon.

Poseidon is the god of the sea. He was given this temple because of its location next to the sea.

At 4pm we met with our tour guide, Iria and the bus driver was called Sotiris. We stopped at a viewing point. It was at a waterfall, where the water was really dirty but people were still swimming in it.

We stopped at a beach. I had a swim and the water was so salty, you could easily float. After the swim we had dinner there. I had a nice burger with pineapple sauce.

We then went to the Temple of Poseidon and our tour guides gave us the challenge of finding Lord Byron's name carved into the temple. Lots of people had already carved their name in. This is now banned, but not before the whole thing was covered in names.

I found the Lord Byron name at the temple of Poseidon. To be honest I did not find it. Someone else showed it to me. It was on one of the columns on a white bit.

We headed back before it closed and everyone went out after the sunset.

We headed back home and went to sleep. It was really late when we went to sleep.Baca lagi

Raus aus der Stadt ans Kap

Weil Athen einen guten Anschluss ans Meer bietet, beschließen wir, diesem einen Besuch abzustatten. 😊 Im Reiseführer lesen wir, dass die Athener Strände nicht zu den Topstränden der Welt zählen. Klar. Das knapp 70 km entfernte Kap Sounion soll mit seinem gut 2500 Jahre altem Poseidon-Tempel jedoch ein reizvolles Ziel sein. 🤓 Also auf zur Rent-a-car-Station und los!
Die hektische Stadt hinter sich gelassen, kommt man schnell auf die Küstenstraße. Die Sonne strahlt auf das türkisfarbene Meer und so viel saftiges Grün! 😍 Aus der grauen Jahreszeit in Deutschland kommend eine pure Wohltat!

Am Kap angekommen ergatterten wir noch einen freien Parkplatz und erkundeten die historische Stätte. Interessante Infos dazu findet man schnell im www ⤵️

Auf dem Rückweg finden wir eine Taverne, die allerlei griechische Leckereien anbietet - mit Meerblick, im Windschatten, in der Sonne... 😎

The Temple of Poseidon

As our unforgettable time aboard the Celestyal Olympia drew to a close, we set sail from the stunning island of Santorini, heading for the port of Lavrion. Despite the adventures behind us and the fatigue setting in, we were ready for more. Not a lot more, but a little wouldn’t hurt. 😉

Our next stop was Sounio, where we were to visit the majestic Temple of Poseidon. Erected in the middle of the 5th century BC, this ancient structure stands proudly on a hilltop, overlooking the bay and commanding awe-inspiring views of the Aegean Sea.

Even after days filled with exploration and sightseeing, the sight of the Temple of Poseidon, silhouetted against the sea impressed us. It was a reminder of the rich history and mythology of this beautiful country.Baca lagi

Wettertechnisch war gestern der schönste Tag. Hab schön ausgeschlafen und bin dann erstmal rumgeschlendert.
Weil ich noch das Special-Ticket hatte, habe ich mir die Hadriansbibliothek, die römische Agora und den Turm der Winde angesehen.
Nachmittags stand ein Ausflug zum Kap Sounion an, den ich mir am Vortag gebucht hatte. Weil das Wetter so schön war, habe ich mir auch einen wunderbaren Sonnenuntergang erhofft und wurde nicht enttäuscht. Die Fahrt ging mit einem Bus von der Metro-Station Halandri ab. Keine 20 Minuten haben wir aber den Bus gewechselt, da die Klimaanlage streikte und wir im Bus wortwörtlich „gegrillt“ wurden. Nach einem Stop beim Ancient Theatre of Thorikos - Archaeological Site of Thorikos, ging es weiter zu unserem Ziel. In der Wintersaison kostet der Eintritt 5 Euro und schon stehst du vorm Poseidontempel.
(Es wird vermutet, dass er von dem Architekten Kallikrates entworfen wurde, nach dessen Plänen auch der Tempel des Hephaistos in Athen, der Nemesis-Tempel in Rhamnous und der Ares-Tempel in Acharnes gebaut wurde.)
Danach ging’s auf der Küstenstraße zurück zur Metro-Station Syntagma.
Von dort bin ich mit einem Halt bei der „schwarzen Katze“ bei Oktupus und Saganaki weiter nach Hause.

Frisch geduscht habe ich den Handballern die Daumen gedrückt und mitgefiebert.Baca lagi
