Both bins are full, ours towels need replacing (used a few on the floor because on day 1 when I turned on the shower it came out the holdable nozzle and not the ceiling shower but the nozzle was facing sidewards and it seems our shower is not sealed properly so escaped snd flooded the floor lol.) and we are out of toilet paper so we required room service which means we had to clean our room before we left. Took a minute 😅😅
We then changed our sign to please clean so hopefully they see it.
We headed towards the tube. In theory it is running today but may have delays. All overground is not running.
Caught it to tower hill again and got some subway for lunch. Nothing is universal, what’s available is always different.
Except their macadamia nut cookies ie the best cookies in the world.
Walked to the Jack the Ripper museum.
Overall quick and fun but odd.
Will had to go in first in case they had live actors. They did not thank goodness.
There are 5 rooms all up.
- crime scene
- what the murderers house might look like
- detectives room
- victims bedroom
- morgue
All rooms had info on the wall.
Room one was pretty basic decoration wise as it meant to be a dark alley.
“The scene is set in Mitre Square, where the 6th
victim, Catherine Eddowes was killed. Her horribly
mutilated body was discovered by a policeman, P.C. Edward Watkins, on his regular night patrol.”
I though room 2 was a bit silly. It was the one with the most detail and decoration but in reality they how absolutely no idea who Jack the Ripper is so all speculation. They dressed the room as if he were a surgeon and had books open on scientific working of the body and like medical tools around the place.
Room 3 had letters Jack sent and then typed up version making it easy to read them.
A lot of taunts and a detectives board with string trying to piece it all together.
It also had some artifacts.
“These 4 items all belonged to Police Constable (P.C.) Edward Watkins of the City of London Police. He was carrying them in the early hours of 30 September, 1888, when he discovered the mutilated body of Catherine Eddowes in Mitre
Square, Aldgate. Because of their historic interest, P.C. Watkins kept the items, which passed
down through the generations after his death. They have been in private ownership for over a century and this is the first time they have been put on public display.”
Room 4 had info on most victims. All/most struggling with life and working as prostitutes to get by after family breakdowns.
A song was playing through a speaker - a song Mary Jane Kelly sang the night she was murdered.
Then back down to the bottom level of the building or room 5.
Morgue pictures of all 8 dead woman. Some aren’t too horrendous to look at but 2 are very bad. One horrendous which I remember seeing when doing to the tour with Mum and dad.
Very confronting. This was of Mary Jane Kelly, the youngest and last victim.
On all the stairways they had extracts of newspapers of the time talking about the murders.
His crimes did have a small positive effects on the slums as they were examined by society so closely and deemed unacceptable.
“The playwright George Bernard Shaw commented that Jack the Ripper had done more to throw spotlight on the terrible conditions in the East End than any reformer.”
It was the only thing open today to do - it was different and we enjoyed it.
We then walked across tower bridge and walked along the river until we got to the Globe because Will hadn’t seen it. Told him my fun fact of its the only building in London allowed to have a thatched roof which I have re confirmed is actually true this evening haha. Have to fact check hahah.
Also walked past the HMS Belfast, London Bridge a the bridge in Harry Potter 7.
Walked through markets and found a Starbucks which had a white hot chocolate 🤤🤤
We googled a place for us to go buy Will some socks cause his have died.
Ended up deciding to go to a shopping center because I would like to get a cord for my kindle as we will probably be stuck inside most of tomorrow.
Weird it’s Christmas tomorrow.
There was a Westfields 10km away but on a metro line so we headed to that and hoped trains kept running until we were finished or would have to get a cab.
Walked to the station next to St Paul’s and walked straight onto a tram. Awesome.
Weird ass layout. And huge. Not that busy considering it’s Christmas Eve. Was successful in both our searches.
Trams were still running so caught 2 to get home.
They aren’t that crammed either. I think everyone has made alternate plans rather than risk it.
We are home now.
They cleaned our room 🕺🏻
Went to the Christmas markets for dinner but they were shut.. so popped into shake shack as only fast food available.
Ate it back in our room.
How the Grinch stole Christmas starting soon so that’s our Christmas Eve plans.Read more

Got up and headed to Buckingham Palace to watch the changing of the guard which I’ve never seen.
It was pretty crowded considering it was raining quite heavily. We couldn’t get anywhere near the gates but lined on the road.
Started at 11 and we had left by 11:06 😆
We watched them march in from the side and one group went in and the other went marching away from the palace up the street. We watched them march and then saw nothing. Didn’t know if it was over or not so we left. Google has since told me it goes for 45 mins so still have not seen the changing of the guard hahah
We then headed to Westminster station and caught the tube to tower hill, got off and went to lunch at wagamama. We got Katsu curry which was good but nothing will beat CoCo curry in Japan.
We then bought our tickets to the Tower of London. (No donation tickets, have saved us $24 all up now 😆)
3rd time doing this for me. For whatever reason my brain does not retain this attraction. I’ve had a think and I think it’s because nothing significant happened here. Obviously lots of important things did but not some big shocking thing that makes me take note. It’s just really consistent through history and not that many people died here. Only 22 ever and 12 of them were during the world wars so not medieval. They were shot by the wall but most excexutions took place on tower hill.
Anne Boleyn was executed on tower green.
We went right, climbed up and in and began.
Lots of different rooms and sections built and used by different kings. King Edward I was featured a lot in this section. It had his bedroom and the chapel where he was murdered.
It had thick ceiling beams that King Henry VIII had restored.
We walked over the connection bit which gave great view of tower bridge then entered a bit that use to hold people and had inscriptions on the wall where prisoners had written.
Then a section on the The Yeoman Warders who are guards.
“In 1826, Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington,
became the Constable of the Tower of London.
He thought that the Yeoman Warders were giving
the Tower a bad name and began to reform their
behaviour. Wellington declared that Yeoman Warders would only be recruited from ex-servicemen with long service and good records of conduct. He also reduced their number from around 100 to just 33. Wellington's reforms are still in force today. Today's Yeoman Warders have at least 22 years of military service. Each has reached the rank of warrant officer and been awarded the long service and good conduct medal. Yeoman Warders are now recruited from all three branches of the armed forces: The Royal Navy including The Royal Marines, The British Army, and The Royal Air Force.
“The Yeoman Wardens are the
guardians of many ancient ceremonies. The Ceremony of the Keys has taken place every night
for more than 700 years to lock up the Tower. It begins when the sentry cries out, "Halt, who comes there?" The Yeoman Warder replies, "The Keys." They are questioned: "Whose keys?" and
answer "Queen Elizabeth's Keys." The sentry answers: "Pass then, all's well."
They haven’t updated all the signage to King Charles.
We then went to a section on some Royal Beasts that were kept.
- King Henry IIl's polar bear was tied to a long rope so it could go fishing in the Thames.
- Snakes were wrapped in blankets and kept on a stove to keep them warm.
- King James I designed a nipple so sick lion cubs at the Tower could be bottle-fed.
- Uncaged monkeys lived in a room where visitors could walk among them. It was shut down after
a monkey attacked a boy.
- A Tower ostrich died, after swallowing a large nail. Visitors had fed it the pieces of metal,
believing ostriches ate iron.
- The artist Edwin Landseer, who later
designed the lion sculptures inTrafalgar Square, drew live lions at the Tower.
- The last Royal Beasts left the Tower in 1832 for the new London Zoo.
We then went to see the Crown Jewels.
Finally 😂😂😂
Didn’t bothered to brace the line the last 2 times cause they were a kilometer long but walked straight in today. 🕺🏻
One crown is missing along the conveyer belt past all the crowns in preparation for King Charles coronation.
There was also some ceremonial swords and a cloak thing that I got yelled at for taking pictures of cause I genuinely didn’t see the signs saying you couldn’t.
Then was the converter belt which I thought moved at a great speed. It was very slow but still moved. You could still see them without feeling rushed but it made sure people didn’t stop the traffic. (All crowns and the scepter)
Lots of big gold stuff used for banquets and stuff. I actually think the gold stuff looks really tacky.
Like I know it’s real gold but every other time I’m seen gold in my life it’s been an imitation of wealth which is cringy.
The fact it’s real doesn’t seem to change my opinion on it.
Walked around the corner and saw the Imperial State Crown which I enjoyed because I recognized it.
We then went and saw the ravens. One had escaped and was talking to its friends in the cages almost trying to get back in. 😅
They were very big.
They are fed lots of different things but once a week they are fed a whole rabbit lol.
We then went to the torture section which wasn’t that extensive, just 3 types.
A lot of people making the same joke that they would love a few minutes on the rack for a good back crack.
The other 2 was being folded in thirds and held in a ball called the scavengers daughter and manacles.
Then onto the armory. Will on the same page as me. The French was better and can’t be beaten. I don’t want to see replicas.
It had a king Henry VIII Armor but most were just examples or not old at all.
Then into a beautiful stone chapel and into another room of bits and bobs. Best bit was the executioners block and axe.
One cannons, gun, swords etc.
Finished.
We then caught the tube to Kings Cross.
Found the platform 9 3/4
ITS SO STUPID.
There is a professional photographer there and he literally took 5 minutes per person so the line didn’t move and was 50 people long. So I took a picture of the place but didn’t get the famous picture of running through the wall which is disappointing but wasn’t going to make Will wait lol.
I got Megs a Slytherin Christmas ornament in the shop.
We then went home.
Washed my hair and went out to China Town for dinner to a buffet.
Not great food but passable and a buffet so that’s an automatic extra 30 points.
At home now just watching the Telly.Read more

I was surprised when Will said he had a good sleep, he was tossing and turning all night.
It’s a double bed so a tight fit but i slept well too.
Headed towards the Churchill War rooms because Will hadn’t done them.
It’s very busy out and about.
We walked through the Horse Guards Palace.
Been before but was easier to envision the Queens funeral parade coming though the middle.
Hadn’t seen the Royal guards in their winter stuff before.
I wanted to eat before we went it because we have done this before - entered a museum on an empty stomach and struggled because we become hungry sick because we are in there hours.
But literally nothing around - would have to walk back to Trafalgar Square which isnt actually that far but it’s about the pointless miles and I’m not wearing my walking shoes today 😅 ( In my jeans today and can’t get away with that fashion choice. Wearing tights is bad enough haha)
So we risked it.
The pound is the worstttttttt 😩😩
It’s double.
29.5 to enter or 26.5 without a donation.
We didn’t give the donation so saved $12 hahahah
Still over $100 to go.
The highlights for me were enigma, the flag that covered Churchills coffin and footage from that, a letter from the king to Churchill and just seeing the map room, his bedroom and the cabinet war rooms.
A worker saw me take a picture of the letter from the king to Churchill and got so excited he came over and gave me a history lesson - even pulled up a picture on his phone of the the letter in print incase I couldn’t read the running writing. Wild to think some people actually love their jobs that much.
It was a lot of info and no seats. Why never any seats?
I also felt very pressured to move quickly because of the layout. I was blocking people from info and the audio guides everyone gets for free are good but also so long that it keeps people standing in sections for way too long and it creates major traffic jams.
I remember going with Mum and dad and a line existing. I don’t think we walked straight in.
Today we did and I still felt too many people were inside. Peak season must be mental.
I like all of Churchills quotes. They were everywhere and all very good.
We then went to a pub for lunch.
I saw a roast with gravy and was so keen to order but it’s only available on Sunday’s.
Gutted haha.
Will got bangers and mash.
Came home and tried to write an itinerary for the remainder of our time here.
Everything we want to do requires a train that is not working such as going to Bletchley park to see the code breaking rooms, Cambridge to see Newtons tree, Hampton court where King Henry VIII lived and even though I’ve been twice, Harry Potter world (🤣)
But no.
Also everything closed.
Like everything.
Which is expected but still super annoying.
SO SAD WE CANT GET TO MANCHESTER TO HAVE CHRISTMAS WITH HELEN AND TOM. 😭😭
Might be seeing a play with Bronte though so that hopefully works out.
We then went to TGIFridays.
Got my Jack Daniel glaze. 10/10
Service was crap and they tip in restaurants here
LAMMEEEEEEE
BUT we noticed we weren’t charged for 2 cokes on the bill so instead of telling them that’s the amount we tipped.
Everybody wins hahahahahha.
We then walked through the Christmas markets outside and I bought an obnoxiously expensive Christmas tree ornament.
I ummmmed and ahhhhed about which one to get cause I liked so many of them but ended up getting Harry Potter because it’s actually relevant to the location. It’s hand stitched and I actually really like it.
We then went home and I have watched ‘the Holiday’ on the TV which is one of my top 5 movies of all time so loved that and have tried to find my kindle charging cord but it’s gone walkies.
It’s nearly 1am bed time.Read more

Slept better but still hot.
Will requested listening to Harry Potter from the beginning which he asks for all the time but I never agree to, but today I did.
I was wide awake listening along - this is why always listen to the same section - so I DON’T follow along and actually sleep 😅
Went down to reception around 7:15 and checked out. Staff have been great this whole time. It’s the only reception our whole trip I’ve felt comfortable asking for something.
Still tempted to complain about the 2 turtles In reception who are very very very very sick. Will said dead but they blink.
They are turtles, they need water…
Currently being used as cute decor with sparkly green glitter sand 😬😬😬😬
Our taxi was in time and we pre paid at the hotel so a very straight morning.
Can’t get over the pollution. We both agree it’s the worst we have experienced and we have some been some interesting places.
A whole fog over the city this morning too so not great visibility but we have hours for it to lift.
Not a big airport which isn’t surprising haha.
Check in was quick, we then had some terrible banitsa (very odd tasting cheese) then went through customs, bought Craig some duty free smokes, waited around then boarded.
NOT A PROPELLER PLANE 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
A little nervous at take off but not scared and seatbelt sign got taken away quickly so I was fine.
No tears today, what a brave soldier.
I slept on the food table a little bit. I was awake a lot too but so tired I didn’t mind having free time to just lie there trying to sleep if that makes sense.
We landed in Geneva and had the option to stay in the departure lounge or go through customs to get food.
So we got 2 stamps added to our passport today just for getting McDonald’s 😂😂😂😂
It’s a stupid system that we had to do that. Other people transitioning though to London didn’t necessarily have free entry into the Schengen zone so couldn’t eat anything.
We saw at least one man that didn’t have a visa so he had to stay in the lounge.
Confusing airport trying to find our way from arrivals to departures.
Have to scan you boarding pass to get Wi-Fi, no anonymous porn watching for anyone. Lol
Through customs quickly except my bag got chosen for a random search which took a while because so did others bags and they did a thorough job and pulled everything out. She even flipped through my ticket journal to check I wasn’t hiding anything in the pages.
Europes airports are boring.
So stale and small. Turkeys was fabulous. Singapore has a bloody butterfly sanctuary to walk through. Way cooler to pass time there haha.
We are currently at our gate. Should board soon.
Keen to actually get to the hotel but that’s a long way off still.
Have amused self my researching Hogwarts legacy some more, down my facebook update and written this.
Bummed cause I’m feeling quite awake so had planned to read my kindle on the plane but noted when TSA pulled all my stuff out that it’s out of battery.
On the plane. It’s quite empty. We have a spare seat so I’ll move over one after take off.
Both planes have had 5 rows not 6 which I’m sure I nuts have seen at some point before but really can’t remember. I thinks it’s odd just for weight distribution.
Didn’t move over. Listened to a crime/murder podcast which was probably not great for my anxiety when we were circling the airport (really spooky ominous music) which we did for ages and quiet drastically, we were half facing the floor like one of those fancy loop de loop jets.
Thankfully I heard the announcement over my headphones that we had to circle for a bit other wise I would have been very WHAT IS HAPPENING.
Landed.
Customs was surprisingly pain free. We used the automatic stations. I was trying to read a particular sign about passport stamps the whole time. We were moving too fast I couldn’t read it in time as we kept walking past it. I have never had this problem in a customs line before. “We were moving too fast”.
In and out despite hundreds of people. If only it was this seamless last time without the interrogation and subsequent denial of entry 😂😅
We found the same, very confusing sign at the baggage claim that half suggested we weren’t suppose to use the automatic stations and that we needed to get our passports stamped so I went and found someone because I’d definitely rather deal with now while they aren’t striking. When we come back in 8 days the whole nation is on strike so not likely to find someone then to help if we got it wrong today.
I was told we are VIP and don’t need a stamp. Ok.
Will be asking Heathrow to pull up that security footage for the insurance company when I explains why we missed our flight home due to stamp issue. I have evidence it’s not my fault 😂
It took ages for our bags to come. Longer than the customs line by far.
Our bags made it. Yay!
Made our way to the underground and bought Oyster cards. One day I will remember to bring one with me.
7£ per card and we loaded with 30 each because we have no idea how much our journey will cost us but surely will be enough cause it’s just a regular metro line.
Train is so rickety. I’m starving so I’m very pleased I don’t feel sick cause this would be the worst if I did.
It’s 8:52pm at the minute we have been going for 13.5 hours.
Stupid to think we wouldn’t have even gotten off our first flight yet on the way home.
Now that is going to be a looooong day. Even if in business.
Was a 5 minute walk from the station. Only £5.50 for the whole journey so really pleased with that.
Check in went wonderfully. We were worried they were going to ask for a deposit which would put us in a pickle because we need that money now or would come out of Wills work card which I’m sure his boss won’t like.
But they didn’t. Huzzah.
Dumped our bags and went to tgifridays nearby but needed reservations so have booked for tomorrow.
Went for kebabs. Not really kebabs just given a big pile of ingredients but really yum.
Now back. Watching a British comedy show, all hilarious. I don’t know any of them and yet all funny.
Australia needs to improve in this area.
Our shows are always the same people and the only reason i know the people on them is because they are just constantly recycled through the years like Ed Kavalee or Sophie Monk.
None particularly funny.
Bed time now.
Nearly home.Read more

Pristina

No changes overnight to smart traveller so we are gonna make it just in time before the war breaks out . Hazzah! 🕺🏻💃🏻🕺🏻💃🏻🕺🏻🤣
Pushed ourselves to get up this morning. We both slept terribly. The room is too hot. Honestly I’ve had enough of this rubbish, our aircons never work, it’s like they had specifically programmed to only do hot air.
Normally we open the window which we tried doing last night but the pollution is horrendous so we had to shut it.
I think it just smells like woodfire smoke, Will reckons burnt plastic.
Neither good for the lungs.
We went done and had our free breakfast. Basic but will get us to the end of the tour.
Walked up the street a bit to the national theatre and waited for our guide.
I’m so punctual. I don’t understand how if you are the guide and the guide starts at 10 you are not there at least 10 minutes early.
For many reasons but the main one being to confirm to people they are waiting in the right spot.
It ended up being a private tour. Worst nightmare with giving a tip so very thankful this happened here and not Switzerland lol.
Started in the main square.
These 2 dogs were so friendly and jumped up onto us.
I won’t lie. I missed a lot of the tour because of stress regarding these dogs. I know Will did too.
Everyone is disgusting to them. Everyone yells at them and shoos them away. One lady when we were crossing a street with them grabbed me with both her hands and essentially used me as her shield.
I was so worried they were going to get hit by a car. One of them loves chasing them and it’s just isn’t a culture where people are going to swerve out of the way to avoid hitting them.
And then the die a painful death because no one is going to help them. I saw one dog that looks like it has just had surgery because it was shaved but it looked a bit infected. What happened when it is infected? Will any one help? The guide said some people are activists and will take it to the vet but it’s not common.
ACTIVISTS was the word used.
Disgusting.
A lot of statues at the start. And lots of memorials over the duration from different wars.
There was one for 1000+ people missing from a war (not sure which one - honestly there have been too many to keep track)
There was also a big woman monument to represent the 20,000 that were raped during the Kosovo war. I liked this one. It was one pin per womb to create a woman’s head.
We went to old town. Walked past 2 mosques. Will told me to stop encouraging the dogs and I said it wasn’t me. We had a following of 3 now.
We ended up in an Ethnological museum where a lady said to our guide those dogs always follow you.
See, not me.
I wish they would go away.
Can’t concentrate when I can see them. Too worried. Even Will said at the end he was so anxious the entire time.
We entered into the building though which gave us a break. Very cute. Traditional house which got vacated in the 50’s or 60’s I believe. I simultaneously LOVEEE it and would hate to live there. This was a rich house so was set up beautifully. Very cultural to leave food out overnight so that if a random person/traveller needs somewhere to sleep the night they will also how food.
Randomly thoughtful.
We then went walking back to the main square and onto the NEWBORN sign which is one of their main points of interest. It’s just a sign but got a pic there.
Then we went to a library that looks like a weird spaceship thing.
Near by was a half finished church that the Serbians were making the Kosovo people build until they left after the war.
It’s just chilling there.
Our tour ended. I passed Will the coin purse because I knew I’d end up giving here its entire contents out of guilt.
Will gave him 20. He seemed ok with that.
By the end of the tour we had collect 7 dogs.
We then went walking and tried to find the Bill Clinton statue but couldn’t find him and vodaphone doesn’t have a deal with Kosovo so megabucks to use.
We then ate lunch at Hebs friend chicken which seems to be a chain here.
It was under 8€ for both our meals 👏🏼
We then went back to the hotel to pee and ask the hotel to organise us a taxi to the bear sanctuary.
On the way back to the hotel one of the dogs from the tour recognised us and followed us the whole way to our hotel and even tried to enter it 😭😭😭😭
Lucky for the lady in the back office at reception because the 2 receptionist we mentioned the bear sanctuary to had no idea what we were on about. I even showed them a picture of a bear to help - then this lady came out and was like it will cost this much and the driver will wait an hour.
Done.
40 mins later our driver was still not there because he went to the wrong hotel and then got stuck in traffic.
During this time we got into the wrong taxi … then jumped out.
Aye aye ayeeee. 🤦🏼♀️
Eventually he turned up and the receptionist talked to him so we knew it was the right person this time with the pre agreed price of 27.5€.
It’s a 30 min drive there, 30 mins back and he will wait and hour for us.
Very reasonable.
Started driving and eventually went past big signs saying “you are now leaving the protected zone”
And then Serbian flags appeared everywhere 👀 lolz.
We didn’t go north to the danger part in fairness so wasn’t expecting that to happen.
All is fine,we did not die today.
The further we drove the worst the rubbish and just general crapness.
But then we arrived at the sanctuary and the best news ever - they are awake!! 🕺🏻 we weren’t 100% sure they would be.
Only 1.5€ each.
I had the best time.
THE BEST.
11/10.
My only complaint is we only had an hour.
We walked in and up a hill and immediately saw some bears. They were so close to the fence.
The first one was pacing, which is common behavior for bears or any animal who has been kept in inappropriate cages.
She was the only one pacing and it’s likely a habit. She had the smallest of all the enclosures (still plenty big), maybe because she doesn’t use it at much?
We walked up a biiiiiiiiiig hill. Holley Dooley. No bears in this enclosure that we could see but it had lots of potential hiding holes.
I liked the blurbs of each of the bears. It has a photo of the cage they came from and then now.
Also if they are fussy or not for instance one will not eat cucumber 😂
The best bit was one enclosure where we walked around the corner and BANG the bear was right in front and then 2 other bears came over so all 3 of them were just chilling together in front of us.
Some bears are alone and some together. These 3 got recused together as cubs.
The majority have a friend.
Loveddddd this part of the day. A stray dog walked past and they started huffing and puffing at it lol
Another enclosure we watched on found a bit of apple and another was in a burrow. She was so blonde in colour!
I think in total we saw 10-12 of the bears. There are 20 in total so we did great!
We rushed the last bit because I wanted to buy a jumper in the gift shop. The whole of Kosovo doesn’t take card apparently so I only had enough by about 1€ but we got it. Just has a bear on it. I love bears. I wish it said Pristina sanctuary or kosovo but oh well, I know.
Considering maybe having someone embroid it.
Taxi driver didn’t abandoned us woohoo.
He drives like a lunatic but we made it back in one piece. He does not have the patience to be a driver 😅
We have showered. It wasn’t until after I got out did I realize how much mud I have walked through the hotel…
Impossible to pick up too..
My bad.
We went to Sarajeva steak house for dinner.
People complaining online about the prices..
It cost us 40€. Which is suppose is a lot for here but we each got an entree (shopska salad and a steak slither tasting plates, 3 drinks, and 2 steak mains with like a litre of butter they poured on top with vegetables.
Cheap as chips.
The vegetables soaked in butter was incredible.
Expecting our heart attacks any day now.
We had to go via the atm on the way - another disgusting 5€ fee (atm fee not wise fee)
So we were delighted we could pay by card at the Resturant - first place in all of Kosovo so far.
Because otherwise we were going to have to go get money out for the second time this evening.
Went to a convenience store on the way home. We bought a drink each, lollies and 2 packs of Oreos. I was wondering if 10€ would be enough.
It came to 4.00€
How good haha.
Back home. Have packed. Very keen to go to London tomorrow!
Can’t wait to speak English with people!! 😆Read more

We checked out about 10:30. We found a box that said drop keys here so we did. Other place gave us a full on document about our stay with names and passport number etc.
Hope we don’t actually need that from here too. Lol
Walked to the station which felt much quicker today.
Didn’t struggle at all with my bag which surprised me.
I said yesterday it didn’t matter if I struggled today though because if I did, that meant I have a bag.
Once there I bought 3 banitsas for us. Dude in the shop was maybe 19 and spoke perfect English.
A little doggo was wandering around the station. It was so nervous and yet trying to be confident to approach everyone. It was a bit like people have been nice to me and I have also been kicked - what will you do to me?
He just kept wandering around and I could see it’s ribs and I was so sad so I persuaded it to come outside with me and gave it some banitsa.
It came immediately back. 😂 not to me, but around the station so I went back outside and gave a very generous portion.
It didn’t come back.
Better than nothing 💕
Hurts my heart.
We used the toilets at the station.
It’s even more appalling that I have to pay when it’s disgusting.
Your not meant to flush your toilet paper in a lot of places so lots of shit covered paper out and about.
We both ignore this rule 🤣🤣
Got on the bus and the whole journey was very stress free. I remember last time when we got to borders we would give our passport to the bus driver and he gets them stamped, then we get them back. But this time we had to get off the bus at both borders and have someone check our details which i much preferred.
The Macedonian dude was so friendly! Just chatting away and when I left was like “nice to meet you” 😂
If only all customs people were like that haha.
Kosovo stamp is at the front of Wills passport and the back for mine booooooo
Bus was very on time so I guess the baulkan online bus timetable is at least semi reliable. Still wouldn’t trust it with anything super important. Haha
Got off the bus, grabbed our bags from underneath and walked to find a taxi. Normally they swarm but we had to actually go looking for someone.
Eventually someone asked (had good English and knew our hotel) so I asked how much - he said 8€ which I believe to be wicked overpriced but oh well, he can have a good day.
I found about 20€ worth of coins in our passport wallet so have to use anyway because you can’t exchange.
It was only a 3km journey but traffic was a bit hectic. When we arrived the front door was locked. Thankfully some lady walked past and told us to go around the side. I’m sure we would have figured that out but nice to just be told what to do.
Check in was easy.
Our free bottle of wine was waiting for us in our room (1 little one each).
Expedia Gold member 💅🏼💅🏼
Had a shower and finally got to wash my hair.
It’s actual filth, honestly.
I then had a nap.
We went out to dinner for philly cheese steak sandwichs.
Very cheap. Love that for us hahah.
Got some money out for our walking tour tomorrow and then went and got some snacks.
The chip options are so shiiiiiit.
Have spent like 2 hours watching Hogwarts legacy videos and was so inspired I went and delete my old wizarding world account and made another one so I could be sorted again 🤣🤣🤣
This is now the 3rd time I have been given sorted into Gryffindor.
I am a Hufflepuff dammit.
Ok so just spent another 30 minutes deleting and making a new account with all the correct answers ready and so now I’m in hufflepuff hahah yewwww
Will link the account when i eventually buy the game 🤣🤣🤣

Lots of Hogwarts legacy research when I should have been sleeping.
Just confusing myself more and more.
Do we get a desktop computer so I can play? Or do I buy a Nintendo switch OR do I get an Xbox game and share our console with Will.
As Will is a hog I’m leaning towards PC and because it comes out earlier.
SO EXCITED.
I hope when I read this back in years to come my excitement is justified. They have delayed the release enough. First announce 2018. 100% releasing 2021 as yet did not…
TWENTY TWENTY-THREE LETS GO.
I’m so excited it’s open world 😭😭😭😭
Had a sleep in cause nothing to do, nowhere to go 🤣🤣
We walked to the main bus station and bought our tickets to Pristina for tomorrow.
Was easy enough even though all signs were in Cyrillic. Just picked a counter and asked if she spoke English. She did 🤷🏼♀️
Platform 4 tomorrow at 11:45.
Picked this time because even though I do not trust the online baulkan transport portal…. It reckons this bus is an hour quicker than others (maybe less stops?) so we will see. Hope to arrive 1:30 tomorrow.
Check in has me a little confused. I keep getting messages about an online check in portal.
It’s not a plane, and I’m not there yet, why am I checking in.
So sent them a message to cover my ass if I’m meant to be doing something.
Have also messaged the bear sanctuary to see if they are hibernating or not.
We bought a banitsa for breakfast then went to a shopping center and bought motion sickness tablets from the same pharmacy as last time because we learnt day one last time they don’t drive like they have any will to live. 😅
We walked around the bazaar for a bit. It’s Sunday so very quite then walked back to the main square and got lunch.
Another shopska salad for me 😋😋😋
We are now back at our hostel and anxiously awaiting the arrival of our bags.
15 mins to 4 at the moment and I’m stressssssed haha
4:05 and just got a call on my WhatsApp number sayin 20 mins away.
Don’t care if late - THANK YOU for communicating.
Delighted.
Must have my bag because I didn’t provide my number, just Wills to luggage claim as he has cheaper roaming.
It is, however, printed on my luggage so he must have it.. 🎉
WE GOT THEMMMMMMMM 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
While we were waiting in the cafe place that is the most unclear hostel reception in the world.
We watched Messi score a goal for Argentina.
Pleased by this because our room has a tv but it doesn’t work.
But also huge deal if Argentina finally win with him and that was a big moment.
We are currently showering and peeling of the disgusting crusty clothes we have been wearing for days.
Saaaa guuuuuud.
Went to Burger King for dinner again because not in the mood for kebabs which is the local cuisine.
2-2 all and then became 3-2 then 3-3 in overtime. Stressful couldn’t watch.
So we went to Hurrem shisha bar and have had the best time.
Watched the penalty shoot out and Argentina did win. 🎉
Pleased.
We have a shisha each - double apple and strawberry and have turkish tea. There is music playing and all in all fabulous mood, fabulous place.
Yay Macedonia.
Significantly less beggar Gypsy children this time. We were asked by a 3 year old at dinner though. Her loving parents did bother to put her in a jumper 🥴💕
Will fits our toilet really well.
Just applied for a travel job which I won’t get but worth a try cause it’s part time and not flight center.
We made list of things we want to do to our house when back like making the backyard all grass and making a dog enclosure, we need a new air con unit, shelf in the laundry, pest inspection, want a veggie garden, frame paintings etc
Need that lotto win 😪😪😪🤣
Also a list of things we are going to cook and I AM SO EXCITED FOR
- tacos
- chicken ball wraps
-lamb kebab and tzatziki wraps
-cauliflower and broccoli bake
- candied carrots
- my spag bowl
- smoked pulled pork

We got up at 11:30, checked out, walked quite literally next door and checked in.
They were wicked rude.
Guy was like we thought you weren’t coming and made no move to get up and do anything.
It was a bit, we gave you reservation away sorry not sorry.
(Which they threatened in an email I got before arrival asking for our arrival time saying if we were late they would resell our room - which is why I emailed and WhatsApped them….)
But then I gave him my phone showing him I spoke to someone the day before with our arrival time.
Then he came up with a new story of we were expecting you in the middle of the night.
Text says 12pm today but ok.
Also your reception is not open after 12 which is why we booked the other place for a night in the first place. 🫠
Eventually checked us in and we were taken to our room next door.
Basic but private so that’s a tick.
We then went to the grocery store cause we were dying to brush our teeth. Before we left I sent off an email asking about our bags.
Walked through the main square.
Favourite main square in all the world.
It too has been tarnished by Christmas markets but still love 😭😭
The statues everywhere are equally ridiculous this time.
Overall it’s much dirtier than last time. More rubbish and more graffiti. I’m sure a lot of factors contributing to this. Covid, political unrest ( had a name change since last visit) etc.
But very noticeable.
At the grocery store we just got toiletries.
We got Burger King on the way back. Will had a hankering for it last night at both airports so we scratched that itch today.
We then went home and napped for hours haha.
Got an email saying our bags should be delivered tomorrow at 4.
Tried to organize our transfer to Pristina. An impossible task. Sent the company an email hahahahhaa
Can’t type an address. You have to select it on a map. The map they provide you doesn’t have street names on it.
I couldn’t find Norfolk road on a map of Sydney if no street names on the map let alone do it here.
So we are going to get a bus.
We will need to buy new motion sickness tablets 🥴
Also big talks of Serbia invading soooooooooo
We may buy a return ticket to Skopje and will need to change our flight out of Pristina if that escalates.
At the moment smart traveller says it’s fine. Just the border. Will continue to monitor.
But of course that happening lol.
We have just been to dinner and I had my shopska salad ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Problem with Australia calling French fries, crisps etc all “chips” when something says chips you expect a certain type based on the meal and not the word.
Got served crisps with his wrap haha.
Now at a place in old town - about to have some hookah and tea. No Turkish tea so having mint instead.
The place we wanted to go to is closed but we are right next door.
A kitten has just escaped inside 😆
Saw a dead cat earlier. I like to think it just died/hit by car maybe? and wasn’t kicked in the head.
Back home.
Helen bought another dog today so another chihuahua for Robert to bother until we get him a friend.Read more

Berlin

Will woke up at 9 but I was in no rush cause it’s a looooonnnnnggggg day.
I think we left the hotel around 11:45, right before checkout.
Hate leaving our little bags in the bag room but my back is so sore and tight so imma risk it. 🤓
It was about a 5km walk to the East side gallery.
Man, Berlin is NOT pretty. Totally missed this side of it last time.
This walk was so derelict the whole way!!
We went past some commune thing. Big sign no photos no tourism. Only reason people are taking photos is so they have evidence to show the police.
Holy moley.
Crap everywhere. Broken chairs, rubbish, tyres. Anything and everything.
Tarps.
Wowzers.
The whole walk was graffiti.
Inspired by the gallery, obviously 🥴
So the East side gallery is a huuuuuge section of the Berlin Wall.
It has a lot of famous art pieces on it.
The 2 I knew ahead of time was the men kissing and a car crashing through it. Lots of lovely arts though.
It had one section that was just for what I’ll describe as train station graffiti.
Genuinely genuinely surprised that no knob head has ruined any of the street arts.
We had salad for lunch then walked back via the city.
10-11km round trip I’d say.
On our way back through the city we walked towards some massive incident. Police and fire and just general emergency lights everywhere. Also news channeled everywhere. No panic though so wasn’t sure what went on.
Got closer and wow… we weren’t sure if there had been a gas explosion or terrorist attack. The whole front of the raddison hotel was a mess.
Activated Wills roaming to find out.
The worlds largest fish tank exploded.
Over a million liters of water and 1500 fish.
All fish died and thankfully only 2 people injured. If that happened during a prime time like check in time, lunch or diner etc so many would be dead from glass and just general trauma and drowning.
We then just sat in the foyer for an hour. I did my Facebook update then the hotel called us a taxi because the trains were being stupid and frankly couldn’t be assed.
That’s the main reason in fairness.
Taxi was good.
Drove like a maniac BUT did have the decency to ask if it was ok if he spoke on the phone.
I don’t think I’ve had a driver ask me that before.
He also didn’t ask for a tip so we liked him.
Will felt sick after the journey and was keen to get some food.
We arrived 3.5 hours before our flight.
It is the only time I/we have nearly missed a flight.
BRUHHHH
they didn’t open the check in until 2 hours prior. However, to add to the drama they do not offer early check in so the entire plane is in this line and dropping off bags.
We had only 30 minutes until boarding when we got through but still 2 rows of people to go behind us.
Then TSA took 20 minutes.
SUPER HUNGRY by this stage so we rushed to the food court and got some pizza/salad then rushed to our gate. Boarding started at 8 and it was 8:05.
Up the escalators and what do we find.
Customs CHOKKA BLOCK FULL.
I did feel better because the whole line was our flight so if we missed it, they did too.
Customs was ridiculous. I don’t know why they were so thorough when people are leaving not entering the country.
All workers in a foul mood.
Whole line in a stressed mood.
With 5 minutes before our plane leave we raced to the gate.
And it had been delayed 35 minutes.
Good. Absolutely not fair if people missed the flight because they don’t have enough workers. Even though we chose to get food we were closer to the front than others on our plane who had come straight from check in. We don’t have a long layover though so that may be an issue later on and if I have to be stuck I’d rather be stuck in Berlin than Belgrade.
Flight 1 was fine.
Finding flight 2 was fine
Flight 2 was NOT fine.
I haven’t been that terrified on a plane in a very long time, if ever.
First of all it was a rotary plane held together by actual sticky tape.
So I was nervous before take off.
Will, who usual calms my anxiety kept going on and on about how garbage the plane was and pointing out what was wrong with it and how it’s wasn’t good so I was crying before he even took off which I don’t think has happened before.
Then there was the turbulence.
45 minutes in the dark, in a storm. The flight attendance did not actually get to stand up before we started our decent. They quickly gave out water and sat again again.
I was terrified.
Will was sick.
He wanted a motion sickness tablet BEFORE we got on the plane but everything shut so we were like we will get water once on the plane HA.
That was a disaster.
Arrived and got through customs at lightening speed. 300% faster than Germany and we were entering not exiting..
And our next problem was our bags didn’t make it 😪😪😪😪
The lost baggage lady could at least speak understandable English.
If they are stuck in Belgrade as they should be, we will get them in 2 days. No flight from Belgrade tomorrow 🙃🙃🙃
THANKFULLY our taxi driver was still waiting for us. We were over an hour late.
Once we got onto Wi-Fi at the hotel we had an email saying you driver is still waiting for you…..
So very happy he waited.
Would have tipped if I had the correct currency.
3.30am and we were in our beds.
What a day.Read more

We had a day apart today.
I went back to the murdered Jews memorial and walked through it this time not just past it.
Still very powerful. It swallows you up.
Then back to the Brandenburg gate. Took in the details.
Found a magnet I liked then walked to the cathedral. I was going to go in/up the dome but didn’t seem right Will doing it with me lol.
Then I kept walking to Curry 61 which is where Will had amazing curry wurst sausages last time and I didn’t so I tried this time. Yummy! Probably not worth the 4km walk but I would have felt incomplete if I hadn’t gone.
Walked past a Cold War museum which I considered going in but didn’t for same reason as cathedral. Have since checked google reviews and lucky I didn’t cause it wall in German and need to scan QR codes.
Walked back past the Berlin Wall and considered going to the east side gallery big sun sets at 3:50 today and I’ll get there right at that time so maybe tomorrow if Will is interested. I just want to see the famous men kissing mural but it’s an hour walk one way.
Bought gloves too. Only 5€ crap ones but hands already so much better.
Checked with reception. She didn’t understand late checkout but did say they have a bag holder room which is good because our flight is at 8:40pm.
We are currently at Vapianos which is a Italian chain here. Went to go to a steakhouse but they only accept cash or German debit cards so we have come here instead.
Had to order off a German screen so that was a challenge but we think we are good to go. Currently waiting for our buzzer to buzz.
Food was garbage.
Then when paying I waited in line for 10 minutes. Completely ignored.
Will came over to see what the hell was taking so long and IMMEDIATELY “oh may I help you sir” 😑😑
Twat.
I’m the one with the credit card fuck face.
No tip for you. HA.
Got a a sneaky cheeseburger on the way home because both unsatisfied lol.

We googled laundromats in Skopje but alas, none.
So we really do have to do the washing today 🥲
3km walk went quick enough.
Weather app says today is -6° but feels like -11° so that’s great.
Wore Wills fleece today because I’m sick of not having a middle layer. 😆
His fleece is doing a lovely job.
3km walk.
Wasted 4.5 euro trying to figure out the machines but we got there eventually.
I think I might have paid for the wrong machine?
Idk. It has an English option but only changed half the words.
Did 2 separate loads and now they are in the dryer together.
Got kebabs while we waited.
Took our stuff back.
Went walking towards Christmas markets.
Found some decorations. Bought them together. Love that we chose them together. 💕
Spent so long deciding 😆
Had some gluwëin but chose not to keep the mug/glass because I didn’t like it. Lol
It didn’t have the year or market name.
Went to beer house.
Spent several hours there talking to two pilots from South Africa visiting for training. They are stuck here for like a month because their first trainer hurt themselves or something.
So now they are missing Christmas and got to tell their significant others the good news. Should have been flying home tomorrow now flying home 30th.
They were really great actually.
Pissed the waiter off something fierce when he said you can tip and I said no, it’s not America.
Went to another market which we had to pay 1€ to go to. Least favorite. All stores in enclosed huts so can’t window shop as you walk past.
Got crepes. Will chatted to a German man in line as we waited.
A veryyyyyyyyyyyy long, cold walk home.Read more

I had 8 hours of dead to the world sleep.
Right when I fell asleep (didn’t think I was asleep yet) Will woke me up to tell me I was snoring too loudly ha.
8am I could have gotten up but Will was still sleeping so laid there for another 2 hours.
Our bathroom makes the most annoying sounds. Like the whistling of a kettle boiling on the stove. I don’t know how or why. It did stop but I couldn’t get back to sleep earlier because of it.
A slow start but we eventually got going and headed towards the Berlin story bunker. Which is in a real WW2 bunker.
Fabulous museum.
“The world's leading documentary about Nazism and Hitler - in a bunker from the Second World War. How a modern, progressive and cultured state can quickly descend into barbarism, culminating in unimaginable brutality and genocide. How it came to be enthusiastic about Hitler, how Germany became radicalized, the Nazis led the world into ruin and what became of the "Führerbunker".
Put my coat in the cloak room.
I absolutely should not have done this.
I enjoyed the first half and the second half we had a Maslow’s hierarchy of needs issue that interfered with my enjoyment.
I was cold.
Unbelievably cold.
Dying from cold.
Is this the end cold.
THEY HAD BLOODY COLD AIR BLOWING OUT OF MACHINES.
Bruv, it’s -2° outside.
We need heating, not air con.
It started with Hitlers childhood. It was incredibly interesting actually. Talks about his family, schooling etc and shows some of his painting cause he was an art student.
They were actually really bloody good.
See, did not know this about him. The museum was very much about the before the war which I know little about. The before he had influence part.
Did not know Hitler fought at Fromelles.
Did my Great Grandfather fight him?
I’m 99% he was at Fromelles.
Low key cool.
43 rooms or something. Veryyyyy large.
And partly why I never went and got my jacket. Kept saying to myself “surely nearly done” then 30 mins past “Surely we are nearly done”
Another 30…
SURELY WE ARE NEARLY DONE
Should have gone and got my coat.
Couldn’t take photos and half my reason for my obsessive photos taking is because my memory is appalling and I can’t remember anything…
So having trouble remembering what I read today 😅
It was almost too much writing. Definitely too much writing for how many seats provided, my back was killing me.
We had been there over an hour and only up to 1933.
Reading the whole time.
Print it all and you have a novel.
Hitler very angry about the ending of WW1.
“Stabbed in the back myth” and basically wanted revenge.
Started small then it was 10000 different ways of saying Hitler is a terrific public speaker.
Lots of woman liked him at the start because he used gender neutral language. He included them.
Lots of lies and propaganda.
Start of WW1 the Germans were very enthusiastic. Going to be an easy victory. Lots of cheering etc.
Witness reports to Hitlers announcement of his invasion of Poland/start of WW2 was met with shock. No cheering.
I’m actually really mad I can’t recall anything on demand.
It will slowly come back and I’ll edit this post as I remember 🥴
The last bit was a replica of his bunker which was my fav bit. Love me a visual aid haha.
At the start of the exhibit it went over the different conspiracy theories relating to his death.
In reality I don’t subscribe to many conspiracies.
I accept he killed himself but if one of the theories were true I wouldn’t be surprised either.
Russians are the worst people to have to trust on this 😅🥴
It makes me so cranky at how many people were not just shot out the back for their involvement.
Proper judicial process blah blah then put them for life in prison. Why are they all released early?
Head dude at triblinka senstenced to life - was released early for medical reasons.
mEdIcAl ReASoNs
Fuck off.
Once we were done took a pic out the front then handed to checkpoint Charlie where we got some food because we didn’t eat breakfast and had not anticipated spending hours there. It was nearly 2pm already.
Didn’t do much at checkpoint Charlie. Saw it last time.
Then went walking to Brandenburg gate.
Freezing. Miserable. Complaining a lot. (So nothing new 😆)
Very cool gate. Happy to see.
Then popped round the corner to see the Reichstag Building just from the outside.
It’s number #1 on trip advisor but I have no need to enter.
Walked back cause I couldn’t take no more 🤣🤣
Went past the war memorial.
Just as wonderful this time. Simple but powerful.
Hung out in our room before going to dinner.
Put on 6 layers.
Still cold.
I need a scarf.
Will didn’t get a full pay. He has run out of annual leave.
He got told verbally before leaving they would pay him for the whole holiday but 😬😬😬😬
We are having a think about it cause pros and cons both ways.
He is planning to leave and it’s less rude if they haven’t done this favor for him.
We think we should be ok by the skin of our teeth.
We sure hope so 😅😅😅😅😅
Watched FIFA.
Put in an application for a dog we won’t get.
That’s about it.
Washing didn’t get done cause closest laundromat is 3km away and frankly we couldn’t be assed.
Maybe a tomorrow problem.
Dad needs to come to Berlin. He would LOVE IT.
It’s not a pretty city but it’s bloody interesting.Read more

Ok so continuing on from the drama of last night
- I had a terrific evening watching it all unfold.
The douche bag in the double bed was SO UPSET another bloke got in the bed with him and I was WHEEZING from my bed. Better than tv omg.
Anyway old mate huffed and puffed and then went and moved all his shit to a top bunk. He was so put out.
Great, he deserves to be inconvenienced.
All his crap took up the entire bed so he couldn’t even get on it.
Eventually the Russians came back and I explained to them there are 2 beds left. Top bunk and double bed.
Neither were acceptable so they left and never came back 😆😆😆😆😆
So good.
Douche bag was much quieter than the last 2 nights but still took a phone call around midnight.
One of the new people opened the window last night so I was so comfy. I didn’t sleep, but It wasnt like sleeping on a fry pan.
Window was open all night. Brilliant.
Being quite is hard of a morning. The zip of our bags is SO LOUD, and pulling our locker out from under our bed was BANG CLUNK THUD.
Anyway. Got on the way. Absolutely delighted about going to a hotel. Will very cranky because he was touching feet with someone all night 🤣
I’m a foot shorter than him and even I reached the bottom of the bed.
Our train was early so that was great so we didn’t have to wait on the platform in the freezing cold.
Germany on fire, was 10 minutes late to leave and about 25 mins late to arrive in Munich.
I had troubles booking this route. I wanted to buy from Salzburg to Berlin but no tickets available so i bought 2 separate train tickets and connected them myself. Salzburg to Munich, Munich to Berlin. Gave us an hour stop over to get food.
Lucky. Or else we could have missed our connecting train as they only ever give 5 minutes for a transfer.
So that worked out well in the long run lol.
This second train is delayed too.
Left 10 minutes late and is now running 40 mins behind and we are only halfway.
Good job Germany.
This train is basically empty but all the seats have reservations recorded on the seats. I reckon people have seen the delay and bought different tickets or called it a day.
Just went past a baby deer in a field. No mummy on daddy deer. Little thing is lost.
Will rolled his eyes when he took his headphones off for me to tell him this important information.
Long day.
Left Salzburg at 8am. Arrived 4:10. 40 mins late in the end.
We had a few options on how to get to our hotel. Walk 4 km.
Get a direct bus.
Or catch 2 trains.
We got the 2 trains. Buses are an only if I must option.
Had to catch an S and a U train.
U was easy.
The S was more complicated. The station we wanted wasn’t an option on the machine but was appearing on the board so we picked a short journey ticket option and hoped that was ok.
Got on and then it was only a 180m to the hotel.
Easy check in and ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTED to have our own space.
Went to dinner early around 5. Had Indian. Average but cheap.
Naan was awful though. We think it was goats cheese which I don’t mind in a salad with nuts and toast but Will hates at all times.
Went to Lidl on the way home and bought some milk, cereal and biscuits.
Alcohol is so cheap here it’s insane.
Back at hotel. Have showered and got our laundry ready for tomorrow.
Not near a laundromat. 3km to the closest one which is a pain in the bum and will waste a good chunk of a day. Thinking we will go once sun has set so at least not waste any sun light as it doesn’t hang around for long.
Sun was only starting to rise when we left Salzburg this morning and it was pitch black when we arrived this afternoon.
Just watched sky news. British report differently. Man has been found guilty of murder - her name was Megan.
She was strangled then her throat cut 14 times to make sure shewas dead.
He then dumped her using her car. He came home researched serial killers and watched porn.
They showed footage of him changing clothes afterwards, the police finding her saying she is over here, audio recordings of him pretending to be concerned and so on.
Bro it’s the 7:30 news.
That was so full on holy hell.
Reminded me of my train from Wales to England “Sorry for the delay we just have to collect the body parts.”
Beds are the stupid movable mattresses but not penguin on an ice slab sheets so I’m happy.
Really in the mood for a coke.Read more

Holy crap on a cracker. This guy is the biggest turd face. Talking on the phone until midnight and then both me and Will were both woken up by what sounded like a bubble popping game on his phone and then he answered a phone call.
Bro. It’s 4 am. Shut the fuck up.
He sighs and moans all day too. Such a loud human with no consideration for others. It amazes me.
Will told him to take his phone call outside and he pretended not to understand (he is German)
despite his perfect English yesterday morning when conning people out of money. Weird how he forgot an entire language overnight.
And then at 8am back on the phone.
We left around 9:30.
Again how weird that yesterday he was like oh nooo my money is gone i just wanted to stay one more day.
He has 30 minutes to check out to keep to this supposed timeline. HA.
Wanker.
🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃
Headed towards Mozarts birth house and museum. It’s about a 25 minute walk to town.
Annoyed cause it’s literally 50 meters away from where we have walked every day. 😅 We normally turn left to head to the markets, fortress etc
It’s 50 meters to the right.
A big yellow house.
He lived on the 3rd floor.
I really like museums like this.
Will doesn’t give me enough time though 😩
His impatience stressed me out so I rush and miss so much.
Especially at the end of trips.
Museum number 1 of a trip he is actually pretty good haha
I thought the info they provided was excellent - especially describing his mother, father and sister as people. Their personalities were mentioned.
I feel bad for his sister. Apparently a prodigy in her own right but no one knows who she Is because of her brother. She was also a truly remarkable musician.
Thing like this make me think of Alison and Andrew Hammond.
Andrew, the stupid brother who only got 99% instead of 100.
Pfft what a looser. 😆
Poor Andrew. Poor Mozarts sister.
She also had family/home expectations when older that meant she couldn’t travel/tour anymore. He didn’t have the same restrictions.
Mozarts parents marriage was a love marriage, they had 7 children but only 2 survived.
Mozart had 6 and only 2 survived.
How all the parents of this time period weren’t all in the looney bin I swear.
It has some cool stuff.
A letter from his father to someone announcing his birth.
His childhood violin.
His half finished final piece.
A bit of his hair (what everyone wants)
And just other relics and bits and bobs.
The kitchen was the only room that was how it would have looked. The birth room was where his childhood violin was on display.
We then walked to where our tour was leaving from - lots of little stones have been thrown on the floor all over the city to give you grip when you walk.
We were thinking maybe a car full for our tour but it ended being an entire double decker bus.
We had good seats except for the big black line across the window which was annoying for my neck.
On our way leaving we drove past what is now a school but where Einstein first presented his theory of relativity 1909. Had a plaque on the wall.
Our guide was Steve and Steve was very funny.
We drove past a beautiful area and he was like celebrity’s stay here, it’s about €7000 a night.
Breakfast is included.
His delivery was excellent.
TH MOST AMAZING WINTER WONDERLAND VIEWS THE WHOLE JOURNEY OMG.
Incredible. I got emotional about it 🤣
Just incredible.
We stopped at a nice viewpoint on the way which was half clouded but ok. Will threw a massive snow ball at my head and so as compensation he allowed a group picture 💃🏻
Kept driving and the mountains were so good 😭
We were asked if we wanted to do the skywalk when there. A gamble because of the weather but if we arrived and it’s crap he would give our money back.
So we paid as the bone church is shut during the winter period.
Weather was looking good until maybe the last 3km where we drove into a cloud.
We decided to go up anyway because nothing else to do 😅
Most of the bus chose to go.
Was a lift up.
Could not see shit 🤣
Nada, nothing.
It was snowing so heavily so that was fun.
We hung around up there for a long while really considering. Will was in a fabulous mood and asked for a selfie and then for me to take a pic of him….. the weirdest place we have been to ask, nothing to see behind you but yea absolutely we can get photos!!!! 💕💕💕
It cleared a little bit so we did see an outline of the massive beautiful mountains surrounding us.
Would be sensational in good weather.
It is a UNESCO village.
Disappointing but is what it is.
Caught the train lift back down. I threw a snow ball at Will so my hands where FREEZING and turned bright red immediately.
It’s the lovely powder snow rather than hard ice at least.
We were hungry by now (had another banitsa for breakfast but hours ago) most places closed. Not sure if because Winter or a Sunday or both.
Found a crappy pizza place but did the job.
We then just went walking through the town. Lovely. Lots of colours and you could at least see some of the mountain backdrop down here.
We got some nice village/lake shots. No mountain shots but we have still had a really good day.
Popped my head into the church. Nothing special.
Lots of swans. Love swans.
Obviously very well fed swans. They make a straight line swim to you if you acknowledge them.
Do you have food for me? 👀
Felt bad for one because a couple was throwing snow in and he was trying to find the food 😭😭🥲
Particularly like all the snow that got stuck in Wills eyebrows.
Glad we chose to come.
Had to be back at the bus by 4.
Just as beautiful on the way home.
Had a small nap. The bus motion sends me off to sleep like a toddler.
Back in the city and it’s colddddddddd
We got some crap sausage on the walk home cause ceebs walking aimlessly in the snow and didn’t want to have to come back out later.
Old mate still here. He is in the foyer.
WHO HERE IS SHOCKED
*searches and finds no one*
The hot chocolate machine in the foyer makes the BEST HOT CHOCOLATE ITS AMAZING.
Have showered and packed.
Big day on the train tomorrow but keen for Berlin.
I already posted this but I am editing with an exciting new update:
2 Russian men entered (members 7 and 8 of the room) then left presumably to complain.
They never came back but another person entered and CHOSE THE DOUBLE BED. There is a top bunk available.
And I am so excited.
Report will come with tomorrows journal.
In a great mood hahahahahahahRead more

How did our night go?
We have cancelled our hostel accommodation in Berlin and Kosovo and booked hotels 😆😆😆
I was dying of heat and had an absolute hissyfit around 1am and took my doona out of the cover and just used the cover. Would have slept without anything If not for the suspicious characters in the room - am the only woman in the room too,
so kept the cover on as a sense of security.
Was much better after that.
Getting pretty sick of places with heating you cant turn off.
Will in a terrible mood because he is so tired.
The carry on this morning from the drunk men didn’t bother me but did everyone else.
Old mate crazy pulled off a conn we think. He has calmed the drunk men stole €20 out of his wallet by his bed. And went on a big “ I was going to stay one more night but now I have no money and I have to check out by 10 what am I going to do” blah blah and then some guy offered to give him 20.
I am unconvinced. He has been here a looooong time. His food and shit is everywhere.
Apparently his wife is coming and will pay him back. Idk. Couldn’t hear everything as I was pretending to be asleep so I didn’t awkwardly NOT offer him money…
Also he is complaining the drunk men woke him up. If you are awake you would notice someone going through your stuff. Especially these very drink people NOT in stealth mode.
Also Will said they didn’t go anywhere near him.
I think he played a good game.
And is here another night 🙄
Went to the Baulkan bakery and got some Banitsa .
AMAZING 😭😭😭 we have driven 1.5 hours one way to buy banitsa in Brisbane
And it was so hot 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤
Will swapped with me cause my piece was older and therefor not as steaming.
What a good husband.
Someone asked us for directions to the Markets while we were walking towards the fortress so we ended up walking together. They were a British couple in their 60’s who were visiting just to see the Christmas markets.
Walked with them for about 2.5km just chit chatting before parting ways.
Walked through a lovely cemetery to get to the ticket booth - it was beautiful covered in the snow. 💕
Bought tickets to the fortress - got the all inclusive ones for 3€ extra but in all honestly I dont know what that got us.
The map was terrible.
Got the lift thing up which was fun.
From there it was boring. 🤷🏼♀️
I think it has such potential. The bones of the fortress are amazing but the displays are shocking.
Went to the “armory” and it’s a white painted room with 2 generic pieces of armor and a bunch of interactive displays for kids like digitally uploading your face to a knights body.
Terrible.
This is the armory of an impressive fortress and this is the best you can do?
In the center were Christmas markets which were not relevant to the fortress and yet still the highlight.
Went exploring. A lot of aimless walking around because no signage and map just has Points A,B,C & D but doesn’t say what those points are…
The ONLY really awesome part we found was what I believe was the bakery turned into a tavern and the vibe was incredible. It was like every medieval show ever. But didn’t stay as it was packed and didn’t get a pic either cause small and cramped it was too personal to point my camera at a group of people at a table eating. 😅
Walked and entered an area that had marionette doll displays. In fairness they were very well done it’s just not something that interests me. I can imagine how fabulous it would have been back in its day with story telling. I think my problem with them is they didn’t look particularly old and if they aren’t original I think they are stupid. If original then I liked it.
Essentially, depends if used or not. 🤷🏼♀️
Went into a museum section.
Pff rubbish.
I don’t think it’s cause I’ve been spoilt in other places, even though I have.
I still think this is terrible in its own right.
It was big empty rooms with shit displays?
Idk. I think the French army museum has ruined me for everything else.
I’ve seen proper Napoleon outfits. Your singular replica in your empty room is crap.
Terrible signage so don’t know importance of what I’m looking at.
Complain complain complain 😅
I still had a good time doing it. I just though it was rubbish 🤣
Was really keen for the dungeon.
Used language in the minimal amount of displays appropriate for 6 year olds. No talk of torture or the terribleness that would have happened. Just a hole in the floor really.
“They would have been hungry in the dungeon” was about as gruesome as it got..
Went up to a view point and can’t see a thing.
It’s so bad it’s funny.
THE HILLS ARE ALIVE WITH SOUND OF MUSICCCCCCCC.
Not here they aren’t.
And that concluded the whole thing.
Found a ledge where everyone had made snowmen so we made some too. Mine was crap but Will did a self portrait of me. The nose is less than desirable however accurate it may be 🙄😂
Got some gluwëin at the market then got the lift back down. Got a good spot so got nice views as we came back under the fog.
We then went and got Will his haircut. They didn’t speak a lick of English but I was allowed in today without a fuss and only cost 13€.
We then walked home past the panorama tours booth and bought tickets to Hallstatt tomorrow.
Might as well. It was in my original itinerary but weather isn’t great so could go either way. I’ll regret not going I think so glad we booked it.
When walking the most perfect star shaped snowflake landed on us. Took a pic ☺️
Got some subway for lunch which was fab then hung out in the foyer with the Wi-Fi as I reorganized our lives. I booked Berlin this morning but cancelled and booked Pristina then.
Cancelled our hostels which mean in reality on 2 more nights in a hostel dorm ever 🥲🥲
What a ride.
Hung out in the room for a bit. Old mate has restocked all his food.
It always German people who are the rudest turds in hostels. ALWAYS.
I don’t think our room is going to completely fill tonight unfortunately. Hahaha
Went to an Asian buffet for dinner. I forget how much I love buffets. They are the best. Even when food is average, they are the best.
They had deep fried banana and I had about 20.
I normally only get when I go Brazilian bbq.
Loovvveeeeeee.
It’s snowing so heavily!!!
If he wasn’t such a loon I would ask old mate to shut the fuck up and stop gaming in a public space but don’t want to be murdered in my sleep.
Keen for our tour tomorrow and very excited for Berlin now we have a hotel.Read more

Transit

Off to Salzburg today.
Slept like poo which was surprising cause my body was in pain. Have woken up with majority of aches gone though. I find it very weird whenever my knee does this BS, it’s impossible to walk on and then the next day it’s basically better. If it was as injured as the pain suggested yesterday it should still hurt today. Not complaining though hah.
Had a shower and washed my hair - my hair is disgusting and dead.
I always think of grumpy old woman when I say that and their skit.
“Dead. Of course it’s dead, imagine getting a hair cut if it wasn’t dead. *screams as hair is cut*
Anyway.. Had to wash because we are in hostel dorms for the next week. Yay..
And it wasn’t going to make it..
It’s still a bit wet. I tried to use the hotel hairdryer but it just smelt like burning and didn’t want to have it burst into flames on me so gave that a skip.
Currently on the train.
No reservation seats. Crap train really but at least I know it’s the right train. Switzerland really letting down the team with its lack of train numbers on the departure boards. Good job Germany.
1h 42m journey. We are going to go get Will a haircut when we arrive because we believe there is an hour before we are allowed to check in.
It will be his 2/2 allocated travel haircuts hahah.
His ankles are fucked. Considering doing another walk day 2 in Salzburg but may need to have a look at other options.
I would like to see some mountains.
Will continue to amaze me with his packing skills. We had 1 hour until the train and the room was atrocious. And yet somehow he is ready in 5 minutes. Impressive and impossible.
Hostel was close to the station and I already knew it was going to be disastrous so went in with a good outlook of lets see how bad it really is.
Oh man.
What an ordeal.
Couldn’t check in for a while but that was fine. In fairness everything that related to us was fine. But for others..
Many rooms not ready by 3pm.
Line is 30 people long, one worker on reception who has no sense of urgency good lord.
Have to pay 3.5€ for bed linen.
Odd characters everywhere.
Some screaming babies…
For one odd lady Will goes I hope she is on the phone and not just taking to herself.
She was not on the phone… 😅
But the best thing of all.
Our room had a double bed and the weirdest man has claimed one side.
So if we get an 8th person in the dorm they must share.
*gets popcorn ready*
Under no circumstance is this ok 😆😆😆😆
Especially with this man.
He is bat shit crazy.
I’m on a top bunk which I don’t enjoy but this seems like a win really considering my options.
The bunks are terrible. Bottom bunk is fine but top bunk has a square frame you have to squeeze through to get onto your bed. Wills shoulders are too wide.
Went to a haircut place. They were very rude and couldn’t speak English and we got told no reservation no haircut so we left. (Could DEFINITELY fit in a haircut)
Not sad about it, no business for you then - They were incredibly put out when I entered the barber with him. I was uncomfortable by all the unhappy looks my way.
Relax buds, not here to destroy your man space. Crickey.
Outside was a weed related vending machine. You can get 3 joints for 2€. Tempted to buy just to see if it comes with the weed in it? Cause surely not. Far too cheap. Maybe you have to still stuff it with your own supply?
But put plainly - Surely you can’t buy weed at a vending machine 😆
Went for a walk to the center of town, feeling ripped off by the clouds. Always cloudy wherever we go 🙄🙄🙄
Found some Christmas markets with an ice rink, a Mozart statue and then it lead into other markets which I really liked the feeling of. There was a good distance between opposite shops. Roundabout way of saying a big walkway.
I think Germans still better but only because they have way more food.
It’s both a complaint and not - we have found in many cities we can’t see the main squares/buildings cause they have been overtaken my the markets.
Got a donut pretzel which was nice but not hot like donut king which is what I was craving cause it’s freezinggggg
Wills back is killing him so we went home to rest it. It’s what not wearing proper shoes will get you.
He just needed to sit. So he got a beer and I got gluwëin in reception.
Literally 50 people in line to check in 😆😆😆
Crazy lady still there talking to herself…
Tickled pink. We got refunded. $500 is a lot so. VERY relieved.
Still giving a terrible review. Mainly because at no point during check in was a deposit mentioned and have been so stressed with no clear answer.
Talked with EBC Helen. Have pulled the plug on Christmas with them because now an official train and airline strike.
Just can’t get to them 😔 really disappointed.
But may also get delayed flying home too cause workers want Christmas AND New Years off.
We shall see.
Tried to book a walking tour but all booked out which has never happened before. Normally just register and turn up or simply turn up.
So need new plans.
Went walking to Italian for dinner. Cheap. Yay.
It’s snowing quite heavily. Its collddddddd. Its mainly my hands that aren’t doing so well with it haha.
Back in dorm now.
Dude in the double is crazy for sure.
We have 7 in the room. Awaiting our 8th member to realize they have to share a double bed 👀🍿☕️
Can’t wait hahahah
Still no one 😔
But two men off their heads have joined the room lol.
One has gone to bed and the other is going back out.
His friend asked “do you know the address?”
“No”
“You won’t be able to find your way back”
“But isn’t that the best way.”
Best of luck to him. He will die in a snowstorm.
Crazy dude been on the phone for the last 2 hours. Lights are off bud. Stop being a rude douche.

Munich - Hike day.

Getting up was the worst hahah.
Took some time deciding what we were going to bring. I’ve got extra layers and a snickers bar. Important.
Train came In 30 mins and they don’t run that often and as this is such a stupidly long walk, running out of daylight needs to be considered so I was keen to make that one.
We picked up the pace. Having caught an S train yesterday we at least knew what to do today to save some time. S6 to get there S8 to get home.
We had to pick a time today when buying the ticket so selected the train in 15 mins, the option after that was a train in an hour.
A train going to where we needed came in 4 minutes. This train is not one of the selectable options… but we got on it.
Had my argument ready for ticket people if they said anything.
Our tickets weren’t checked anyway so all is well.
Got off at Starnberg.
Prioritized food as needed fuel for the day.
Also found an ATM to get out cash out in case the monastery we are walking to doesn’t take card.
Have discovered later that the ATM itself has a $8.50 fee 🙃
And then the $1.50 from wise cause we have gone over our ATM withdrawal allowance.
So that was a touch expensive. I’m not overly mad though cause once I figured out why my transaction didn’t match the amount I got out - I would much prefer the reason be fees rather than someone else stole our card details again lol.
Got kebabs and they were terrific.
And on we walked.
Will on map duty bless him.
Started in a town.
Started walking though grass fields with people walking dogs and stayed close to a field.
Started to follow a beautiful stream, everything crisp and moss covered. Beautiful.
Then all of a sudden Wills phone starts making some loud, unknown alarm sound.
Pulled out his phone and in quick succession we received several “emergency alarm”messages.
All in German obviously, but that made it scary.
I immediately went to omg, what if it’s Putin related.
Will though natural disaster related.
Bless the copy/paste feature.
I photographed Wills screen, he hotspotted me and I translated it to say NO DANGER TODAY.
Then why are you messaging me with your NEE NAWW🙃🙃🙃
Felt much more relaxed after we translated haha.
Walk walk walk then through a town for a little bit before we reached farmland.
And in the distance we see this thing.
Wills comments:
“Is that a cat or a dog?”
“…is that a bobcat?”
No. Just a regular cat who was the biggest loaf of bread.
He came over for pats.
He wasn’t as ginormous up close but I think he blended with the grass colour to look double the size.
Kept walking and this little dog was so happy and sped past us to chase the cat. 😂😂
He chased it for a long while too until his owner called him. He didn’t recall to his name but did hesitate which gave fat cat time to gain some distance. Haha
Lots of horses and rolling fields. 💕
A horny boy horse was annoying a girl horse. We could here her warnings and then she kicked him. 😆.
Walked past some either llamas or alpacas but 90% sure alpacas.
Saw a red squirrel too.
This walk had everything honestly. All different terrain and wildlife haha.
Came to a near frozen lake. Just the edges not quite solid yet.
The forest parts where my favourite.
Will did a sneaky wee because he has a convenient, transportable utensil.
I needed to go too but too many runners/dog walkers I had to wait for a better time.
The sun came out for a bit which was lovely but glad it didn’t beat down on us because we would have overheated.
Lots of what we think are mole hills.
Walk walk walk.
Another little town. The whole town spelt like cow but no cows?
Found a good section with some coverage for my bush wee.
This section of wood had little red riding hood vibes.
I don’t know what animals Germany has but very glad all animals are hibernating. Not in the mood to be eaten by a bear today. 😅
The direction signs were frustrating.
They changed a lot.
And did not go down despite walking an hour.
8km to go
8.7km to go
7.9km to go
8.1km to go.
What.
To get to the monastery it is 15km on one map but I think our route was about 20km because we went scenic route.
More fields 💕
Finally could see the monastery in the distance.
Golly. It took its time getting closer to us. Walk walk walk and still just as far away.
The stations of the cross where positioned the last 800m or so as we walked towards it.
Will chose this activity (and has done a bang up job) because he learnt the monks make their own beer 🍻
So, we went into the tavern which was a hot mess just like the hofbrauhaus but he managed to get a beer and really enjoyed it. Just the one though as we still had the final 5km of the journey.
First popped into the church - stunning! Even Will took photos which is how you tell if something is good or not.
We decided not to eat at the tavern because we didn’t know what to do or how to do it …
So we ate my snickers bar and carried on.
Sitting was bad. My knee had cooled and was gone. 💀
Hobbled down the hill but if I can do it for 2 x 25 km days for Everest I can do it for a pissy 5km.
This side not as nice but still lovely.
I considered doing this route there and back but glad we picked the long route as it had the better stuff for sure.
Walked through another town with the most lovely cottage.
Stone and wood, flower pots and a smoking chimney.
Something out of a children book.
Walk walk walk. More towns to the station.
50 minute ride back.
Our stop this morning was zone 2, this was zone 3. Wasn’t sure so didn’t buy a zone day ticket but glad they are different cause otherwise it would have been wasteful like yesterday not getting a day ticket hah.
Body is sore.
Wills ankles are killing him. I at least have hiking shoes. He has dead Adidas shoes due for a trip to the bin.
We had to go immediately home to shower and rest for a bit. Couldn’t walk no more hahaha
Pitch black but only 4:30.
My toes has been hurting half the day. Pleased to see blood through my sock and between my toes. Not in my head lol.
Markets too far away even if its the cheaper option. We just can’t. 😂
We have found an American diner 300m away.
Sitting at the bar writing this.
Keen for bed omg.
At least checkout tomorrow is 12.
My job for the train tomorrow is to draft a passive aggressive email to Zurich Ibis demanding our money back now it’s been 5 business days.
Joy.Read more

Munich

2 am and still wide awake.
I changed my alarm and plan at this moment. 😆
We were going to go on an 11am tour.
Now going to the 1pm tour. 😅
So we got up at 10:30 instead haha.
Walked to the station and needed the S section.
Like I know what that means.
But found an S and figured it all out without too much trouble.
My only issue was we bought single journey tickets rather than whole days tickets (which costs us later 😒🙃)
Had a Dunkin’ donut for breakfast and Will bought a chicken schnitzel sandwich but threw it away because he is the most ridiculous person i have ever met when it comes to chicken. If it’s 0.00001% pink it’s no from him.
The train was about 30 minutes followed by a 10 minute bus. (which once again was conveniently already waiting for us at the station - also completely full so they didn’t check tickets which is good because we aren’t 100% sure if our ticket also covered the bus)
Arrived at Dachau concentration camp.
Immediately signed up for the guided tour because it only has 30 spots.
Success.
Sensational price of 4€ each. Big statement of we need to pay our guide but are not profiting from this.
Had about 45 mins to kill so she recommended the museum and gave us directions. Neither of us listened and the museum is not on the map so we went to the food hall instead and planned to ask the guide at the end of the tour where it is rather than face the woman again and looks stupid. 😆
Canteen was quite cheap actually. Cafeteria vibes.
Lots of school classes.
Had pumpkin soup but very mass produced pumpkin soup haha.
Went to the gift shop to pass time and it was predominately books. Considered buying dad one cause I knows it’s right up his alley but he reads a lot so a real chance he has already read what I would have picked lol.
Tour began.
Fabulous guide.
To save myself a lot of time typing I shall be copy pasting from pictures of signs I took.
“The Dachau Concentration Camp.
In March 1933, a concentration camp for political prisoners was establisned on this site. It served as a model for all subsequent concentration camps and was under the command of the SS. In the 12 years of its existence, over 200.000 person:
from throughout Europe were incarcerated here and in the numerous subcamps. More than 43,000 died. On April 29, 1945, U.S. troops liberated the survivors. The former prisoner camp became a Memorial Site in 1965.”
Stop 1.
Showed us an aerial view of the site from a picture taken shortly before liberation. Talked about where we were going to go and what she would talk about.
The S.S headquarters are not accessible to the public. The Police riot squad use them today. We did see some of the buildings from a fence though at stop 2.
Stop 2.
She showed us train tracks. A lot of people assume they arrived by these tracks but they didn’t, they are from what was here before.
She did talk about the location being why it was chosen though. 5km from station which is both close but not so close you stumble across it.
“Arrival at the camp.
The road that formerly connected the SS area with the prisoner camp was uncovered in 2004. This road was how the prisoners reached the camp. Arriving prisoners had to march from the railway station to the camp, while other transports
used trucks to bring the Prisoners to Dachau..
The final months before the end of the war were characterized as a catastrophic overfilling of the camp, due to the SS deporting several thousand prisoners from other camps to Dachau on the evacuation transports. Thousands died in the course of these final transports”
We turned around to see the entrance with the famous sign from a lot of camp signs that’s says
“Arbeit macht frei” which means “work sets you free”
Lies.
She says while considered a labor camp and not an extermination one that 1 in 5 people who came here died.
And no one was freed because of good work.
The original gate was stolen in 2014 in the middle of the night so they made a replacement.
About 2 years ago it was found in Norway in a rubbish tip they chose to keep the copy erected and put the original inside in the museum.
What an adventure it went on.
Stop 3.
We entered into the role call ground where twice daily role call would be taken.
You must attend. If someone was missing because they had died other prisons must bring them out. If someone was missing they had to all stand there for hours until the person was found. Many people died during role call from exhaustion or the elements.
It’s was a huge space. At one point 50,000 people lined up in military lines per day for role call.
On liberation day there was 33,000.
Originally built for 6,000
Stop 4.
We walked passed the bunkers - 17 on each side originally.
There are 2 complete rebuilds at the front and then the rest just have reconstructed foundation outlines to show where they stood.
I thought it was a fabulous way to do it actually.
Stopped by patch of grass and we talked about security. There were watch towers and an electric fence but also acting as a buffer before the fence was a grass section and a ditch. You were not allowed to touch the grass. If you did you were shot immediately. The guards were given 20 days holiday but an extra day per prisoner they killed so they had motivation.
They also played games with the prisoners such as by taking there hat and throwing it on the grass. Your choices are retrieve it and get shot. Ignore command from officer to retrieve it and get shot. 😬
There are a lot of “killed while trying to escape” documentations and she posed the question.
When you look at this can you escape? Is there a way?
The answer is no.
“Trying to escape” is propaganda. These people killed themselves. There is a huge memorial in the middle erected by survivors that depicts their fellow prisoners mangled in the fence.
Stop 5.
Was the crematorium.
Workers in the crematorium only lived some weeks - they either died from exhaustion or were murdered so they didn’t talk about it.
It’s the one area with no real eye witness accounts.
There were 2 crematoriums.
The older one cremated about 11,000 but death rate increased so the prisoners had to build a new one.
“Large crematorium.
The large crematorium was erected between
May 1942 and April 1943. It was to serve both
as a killing facility and to remove the dead.
But the gas chamber in the middle of the building was not used for mass murder. Survivors
have testified that the SS did, however, murder
individual prisoners and small groups here”
- Room 1 was for disinfecting of clothing.
- Room 2 was the waiting room where you were informed on the use of the “showers”
Room 3 was the gas chamber
“Gas chamber.
This was the center of potential mass murder.
The room was disguised as "showers" and
equipped with fake shower spouts to mislead
the victims and prevent them from refusing
to enter the room. During a period of 15 to
20 minutes up to 150 people at a time could
be suffocated to death through prussic acid
poison gas (Zyklon B).”
Guide said there is no real documentation or evidence on the extent.
The purpose is unclear. The truth is they don’t know for sure why there is a gas chamber.
- Room 4
Was death chamber 1. Where they were brought before cremation.
- Room 5 was the crematorium/where the ovens are.
Also
“Execution site
Most hangings were carried out here. The victims were hanged directly in front of the burning ovens.”
- Room 6 was where they stored the dead bodies from the prisoner camp.
Outside was a mass grave woodland cemetery section which wasn’t part of the tour but i wizzed through.
Beautiful really. Quite and calm.
“Graves of Ashes and Execution Site.
The ashes of the bodies cremated in the ovens
were shoveled into pits. After liberation these
places were marked as graves and memorial
plaques erected later.”
Stop 6 was in the middle of the road between all the barracks - she pointed out different religious memorials.
Only 25% of those in Dachau were Jewish.
It was a very pretty area, one that was photographed often by the SS for propaganda.
We went into one of the barracks that has been set up to show how they lived through 3 different sections of time. 1933 is “bearable” - you get your own bed. 1945 is fucked. Originally built for 200 people but housed 2000 each.
We sat inside and this was our last stop on tour. She talked about daily routine, disease and daily life.
They had a big rabbit farm that prisons would try get jobs at because the rabbits were given more food than the prisoners and they would try steal it.
Rabbits were skinned for the guards jackets.
Hygiene was bad.
“The sanitary facilities were entirely insufficient for the growing number of prisoners. Especially in the mornings, they had only a few minutes' time, and this was not enough for several hundred prisoners to crowd into the washrooms and toilets all at once. Like all procedures in the concentration camp, the SS also found ways to use the hygienic facilities to harass, humiliate, and punish the prisoners.
The tour ended. I really enjoyed it!
We then closely inspected the prisoners in the fence memorial before going into the exhibition/museum.
Too much writing tbh.
Wizzed through it reading some and focusing on pictures.
The best sections were the medial experiments, liberation and Dachau trial sections.
Saw the original front gate and fav pic overall was right before one of the bad dudes got hung.
Not enough ended up hung if you ask me.
Should have shot them all on the spot.
I enjoy the terrible dead body photos the most. It makes it more real. It reminds me I need to pay attention.
We then went to the prison inside the prison which was use to remind people “it could always be worse”
One particular torture technique was making one cell into 4 cells. Not big enough to lie or even sit.
The prison had a dark feel to it. A corridor with doors.
Most were empty but a few had signs or displays.
One cell was for a prisoner who tried to blow up Hitler in 1939.
“Georg Elser’s assassination attempt, November 1939:
Growing danger of war made Georg Elser resolve to eliminate hitler. In the Bürgerbräukeller in Munich, a traditional meeting place of the Nazi Party, Elser’s bomb exploded on November 8th 1939,killing eight people and injuring
over 60 in the ruins of the building.
But Hitler had unexpectedly left the hall shortly before.
Georg Elser was arrests the same night.”
Can you imagine if he had been successful.
Another display was
“At around two in the morning the key jangles in the first cell door at the other end of the passageway. Immediately everyone is awake.
With a metallic thud the loosened shackle falls to the floor.
The prisoner from number one takes the first steps to the bunker courtyard.
A shot rings out. A life is extinguished."
Walter Buzengeiger, July 1, 1934.
And so concluded our trip to Dachau.
I loved it. I don’t think your meant to love it but I did.
I love the importance of it.
Bought a ticket back to the station then bought more train tickets.
Terrific maths by 2 separate machines.
5.30€ each.
That will be 15.70€
Ermmmmmm???????
We paid it cause we had to put something is a bit fishy here 🤔🤔🤔
We though maybe higher prices for peak hour but it literally had the math on the screen and it was wrong.
Figured out what train we needed but no new trains appeared on the arrivals board after ours so maybe we got very lucky today not getting stranded.
An easy trip back followed by a lovely stroll through the markets.
Have been freezing out tits off all day but absolutely dying now haha.
We both got curry wurst sausages. I got more fruit covered strawberries and Will got a crepe.
There was a choir singing up high in the main square. Loveeeeeed it.
Lovely vibes 💕💕💕💕💕
Back home now. Writing this has taken me like 1.5 hours haha.
Forgot to write Dachau was the second last camp to be liberated.Read more

We had a morning. 😬
My phone rang in the middle of the night for the second day in a day in a row and maybe 5th overall which makes no sense cause it’s on airplane mode. But that was at 5 and we had to wake up early. Took me at least an hour to get back to sleep. 😒 Will has complained this morning I need to put my phone on silence which i will because it keeps happening but he said it as if it was a real inconvenience for him.
15 seconds and he was snoring again. I wish I had such skills 😫🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️
Alarm was for 7:15 - Not enough time for my liking but I got scoffed at last night when I set the alarm earlier.
So it was very rush rush for me this morning.
Will asked if I have everything. I said yep and we checked out.
Walked a long while towards the station when i realized I didn’t have my wedding ring. 😬😬
2 days in a row. On fire. 🔥
I knew where it was. It’s on the top shelf which I can’t actually see into so didn’t see. I had put it inside Wills ring.
So I SPRINTED.
Started running at 8:01 and arrived 8:02.
A solid effort but I do now have bleeding in my lungs. 🥴 It has a lovely taste.
The air is too cold.
Got our key, went up, couldn’t open the door, panicked and went to run downstairs but it then worked. Got my ring and the lift arrived so I think i my have left the door open because when I first called the lift downstairs I was too slow and missed the lift because someone else called it. So didn’t want someone to jump in infront of me again.
Time is of the essence.
Jogged back. I was ok for time.
Will in a feral mood because he says he specifically asked me about my ring.
I heard “have everything” not “have your ring”
Anyways.
Found our platform and captain cranky puss rejected my offer to get some sandwiches so i went to a vending machine because he will regret that decision in 4 hours time and we still haven’t arrived/eaten.
Had $10 worth of coins to get rid of anyway.
Got some Oreos and a snickers. Options were a bit scarce.
Train 1 was a mood.
Train 2 improved.
People are in our reserved seats which i mentioned to them but didn’t care about. We sat a row in front.
They have now specifically moved for us.
We moved to our assigned seat but both have window seats and there is a big table in the way so Will can’t fit … so we moved back to our original spot. Which I’m sure they have the shits about after having made the effort.
Total kerfuffel. Everyone changing seats all the time.
Once we went over the German border we had to our masks on.
Went through a tiny bit of Austria on the way and it was beautiful. Glad I saw some mountains😅
A group of 4 German woman didn’t put masks on because they were “eating” which is code for drinking wine and holy hell they were loud.
They were having the best time, but so inconsiderate of everyone.
They were totally pissed though so they didn’t notice or care lol.
Had a wee sleep on the train table which was lovely.
Arrived and just a quick walk from the station. Questionable area but still nothing compared to Marseilles.
We think there is a heroine shoot up clinic on the corner which would account for the cliental.
Needle outside our hotel lol.
Checked in, our room is quite small but our last private for a while so I’ll enjoy it while it lasts.
On our walk to old town we believe someone to be overdosing where we think the clinic is. Paramedics helping. Our theory is strengthening by the second. Lol
Didn’t recognize a thing for a while then suddenly ah ha! We recongnised a particular Christmas market which means our hostel from last time is that way and everything else is this way.
Without the market/any other time of year we would not have had a clue.
Soooo much better than last time.
We disagreed on this by I have since been proven right by pulling up my old journal - the Christmas markets shut Christmas Eve last time so they weren’t open for most of our time and we couldn’t go. (Ones in the big min square)
Very jolly this time.
Main square is lovely.
We went to the Hofbrauhaus which was a hot mess. We did laps for a while til we finally flagged someone - do we find somewhere to sit? If so how do you know we are new, there is 1000 people in here… or do we wait for you to sit us?
We seat ourselves.
Went to sit at a table and a worker yelled UH UH UH at us. Ok not there then. Will made comment about how outrageously rude he was.
The language was a bit more colourful actually. 😂
25 minutes pass and our order still hadn’t been taken. Flagged someone.
Still nothing.
Eventually got seen. I took a gamble and got the beef goulash which I was expecting in a bread roll because what the picture showed. But no and meat was chunks of fat. Wills order didn’t match his expectations either.
We enjoyed our pretzel and his beer though!
When leaving the worker was like you can leave a tip if you like.
“No”
Hahahahahah
So proud of myself.
I will not be guilted.
Walked back through the markets and I got fruit covered chocolate 🤤🤤🤤
And Will got a crepe.
Organizing how our transportation tomorrow is going to work.
Watched the Morocco Vs Spain match then went to dinner.
Now back watching the Portugal Vs Switzerland match.
Last trip we watched a lot of Pewdiepie this trip we are watching a lot of Charlotte Dobre.
Very much enjoy.Read more

Ready to leaveeeeee.
First went to find an ATM because we needed coins for the washing machine. Naturally the only atm we could find has a minimum withdrawal of 50.
Found my magnet. Lots of super cute magnets with bears but as I didn’t see a bear it wasn’t relevant to my experience so ended up with a magnet of the clock and fountains.
Then went to Aldi to make salad.
Ha.
An excellent stock of lettuce. That’s about it. No onions, no cucumber, no chicken.
So we scrapped that plan and only got washing detergent, soap and deodorant.
Then went across the street and got pumpkin soup again for lunch.
Very reasonable at 7francs each.
Have been doing laundry. Had a small domestic while trying to figure out the machines. 😆
Washing is on.
And now in the dryer.
Have to have 5 1franc coins which was difficult to come by so asked a cleaner who went and found a worker.
He was like oh? You need to do laundry?
I said we just need to dry as we have already washed.
He was very put out by this.
“Oh you should have got me and I would have loaded the machine for you.”
Well buddy that would have been terrific if you didn’t close reception for 5 hours in the middle of the day with big notices saying do not disturb unless an emergency.
Laundry didn’t seem like an emergency but ok sure.
1h 48m til dryer is done.
Hung out in our room.
I packed.
Will finally cleaned the mud volcano mud off his shoes.
Went to dinner at a Thai place next door. AMAZING.
Have already reviewed them online. 😆
First Massaman curry I’ve seen in Europe.
Finished my book.
Thought I lost my wedding ring/left in shower.
I didn’t. All is well.
Onto Munich tomorrow thank goodness.Read more

Spelt in until 12.
Magic.
Went out with intent to buy salad for lunch at Aldi and some other staples.
Expect city is closed cause it’s Sunday.
Walked around and found nothing except Christmas markets which we wandered through.
They had little fire lit for people to stand around which I liked. Could smell the hot wine. Can’t wait for Germany to have some 🤤🤤
McDonald’s was open near our hotel and I was 80 % sure a sandwich shop was too so we headed back home and best news ever was sandwich shop was open and sold salad and pumpkin soup!
So we very happily ate that in the common room at the hostel even if it was more expensive than our make your own salad plan.
Will added me to his Spotify account so I have spent the aftenoon adding songs and snacking on salami.
He cancelled his commonwealth bank card before coming so he could get out of paying $50 a week for a boxing class membership lol.
He put all his other bills linked to his account/card on our account for the time being. I think Spotify will be staying permanently now I’m using too. Boooo. Haha
I’m totally fine doing nothing but I think Will is a wee bored haha.
Yeah he bored hahahah. Has been asking if we can change itinerary. Had a look and it’s a no. Where we are located it isn’t possible. Or thousands of dollars.
I haven’t liked this trip as much having it pre planned. Not the trip part but the lack of flexibility and the domino effect of lost money if we miss a flight or train or something. Causes me more stress.
Definitely in bern too long. At least we have a private.
I re looked at day trip options for tomorrow and it’s just too much money, shit weather or just unclear websites that don’t translate properly.
We have gone out for cheese fondue for dinner which surprisingly was open so I’m pleased by that. Expensive but delicious. This is our Swiss experience haha. 🇨🇭
We are now smoking some sheesha. The place is so funny. Half built and they heat the coles with a hair dryer in front of you but having a good time doing something lol.
A man just walked into a glass door, everyone remained silent until he left rubbing his heads.
Everyone sharing smiles - Very funny.
No photos as we did nothing.

New Plan: Robert and Helen having a jolly time together so until we organize a friend he will stay there.
It’s 11am and so far we have told house keeping to go away, eaten cereal with our lovely cold milk from outside, showered and that’s about it hey. Hahah
Swapped lunch and dinner plans around so went to spaghetti house next door for lunch.
Excellent food. Still shit prices but semi acceptable. Carbonara was amazing
We then went to Einsteins house where he lived for 2 years and developed his theory of relativity - E=MC2
He lived there with wife and son.
Had the families sitting room on the 2nd floor and then info walls on 3rd floor.
Fun to read about. Divorced his wife and married his cousin. So that’s cute.
Also had a daughter (first child with wife) that he has never met and no one knows what happened to. 👏🏼
We then went walking to the bear pits - bears are the symbol of bern. They got a revamped living space in 2009.
Unfortunately all in hibernation though so didn’t see anything other than the holes they would be sleeping in.
Walked along the river. A lovely walk. The water is crystal clear.
A dude was practicing his opera scales as he was running which was a bit funny.
Could hear him coming LAAAAAAAAAAA
and hear him leaving LAAAAAAAAAA
Bless.
Had to walk a long way to find a bridge to cross over the river to a place we knew where a lift was to get us back up the valley.
Naturally it wasn’t free to take the lift 🙄
It’s bloody cold ok. Even with my beanie and gloves. 70% of snow in about an hour 🤞🏼🤞🏼
Went and got Starbucks hot chocolate and it was literally less than half full. 60% whipped cream.
Back at hostel where we will stay. Going to have a read once done writing this and then World Cup later tonight which will hopefully be on the Telly.
Literally me for the last month “I have glass stuck in my head.”
Will *scoffs*
He has just tried to pop the pimple on side of head that’s been there since Grand Canyon.
“I think you might be right, something’s in there”
🫠
Didn’t read. Watched Graham Norton and Miriam Margolyes videos.
Watching the Argentina V Australia FIFA game. Will was positive until the 2nd goal scored then became a real cranky puss 😆
Shouldn’t have come here for so long. Don’t have the money to actually do anything. 😂
3 more sleeps 🥴
We have no plans for tomorrow or day after. Have exhausted all of Berns attractions 😅
I had a day trip to Thun on our originally itinerary but even though it’s 18mins away - the train is $150 soooooooo not going because all we were going to do there is walk around anyway.
Could do day trips to other places to like interlaken or Lauterbrunnen which is the inspiration for Rivendell for LOTR. And I could/would justify the travel expenses if you could guarantee blue skies. But it’s so grey and gloomy. So nope.
Switzerland is a place you can only come if it’s your entire holiday.

Had a crappy night cause at about 1 am breeder messaged me which I replied to and knew the next message I got would be telling me if I was getting Summer or not. So didn’t sleep for the next 2 hours.
Not Summer - got told new dogs name we get in January. This is a story in progress so might not take her but he name is RhiRhi and she is pretty cute. She would need to have 2 litters but Is apparently a better fit for Robert as she is playful.
Timing might not work out though so we will see how it pans out.
A very slow morning as our train didn’t come until 1. We checked out at around 11 and spoke with reception about being charged for the room twice. I showed our 2 separate bank accounts.
He says it will come back to our account but there is a translation barrier still and I’m not feeling confident he understood completely. I have taken an email address in case. I just want my $500 back. 😭
McDonalds for breakfast/lunch because cheapest thing in entire country and still $50.
Waited inside the station because it was at least a degree warmer in there.
Train ride was about an hour 15.
Check in was a bit dodge. Could see someone in the office but had to wait until 3 before he opened the shutters. I happen to be constructing a message to the breeder at the time denying her offer to take summer for a week if RhiRhi is in heat start of January when we need to pick her up.
I said I can’t take her if I have to give her back again. So I was crying and of course that’s when the shutters open. Awkwarddd hahah.
Had to take the lift up one at a time cause it’s teeny tiny.
We are very happy with our room. It’s got a tv, table, shelving and a sink and some space.
Beds are 2 singles rather than a double so feels bigger too. Only bummer is toilet is in the corridor but hostel isn’t busy so we are only sharing in theory. Am yet to see anyone on our level.
Went out exploring for the 40 minutes before the sun set.
100000000 times cooler than Zurich. Have seen a couple streets and no comparison. An absolute slaughter lol.
There is an awesome astrological clock archway - UNESCO.
Unfortunately only walking tour available is on our last day here so I’ve booked it but might not go. Will have probably seen everything by then. 🤷🏼♀️
I’d like to have more info on all the cool stuff.
SO MANY FOUNTAINS I LOVE THEM. They are colorful 😍
Found a sort of lookout section and some Christmas markets which we strolled through. Not nearly as jolly as when you aren’t freezing and it’s daytime.
Went to the supermarket and bought some bread, spread, sausage and milk for us to eat breakfast and lunch at home tomorrow cause prices are genuinely ridiculous here.
We don’t have a fridge but have put the milk outside our window in a nice 1° environment. Lol
The view from our room is LOVELY. Even got the camera out to capture it better.
Will wanted Mexican so we went to papa joes and I’m OBSESSED with the Resturant. It is rainbow and as if someone has gone to a garage sale and bought the most random things they could possible find and put them all together. There was a bridge, fairy lights a little fountain thing.
LOVE.
I really enjoyed my chicken salad - Will not fussed by his enchiladas because it had too many vegetables 😆😆
$140 🫠🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃
Forgot to say yestsrday the army dudes are really chill here. Bloke just walking around the train station with his automatic weapon slung over his back. Not even holding it. Wicked dangerous bug comical.
Went to supermarket again and added some snacks to our pile. We are having a rest day tomorrow so I can cry about Summer in peace and keep getting better. Still dizzy at times but definitely better.
Went through another Christmas markets. Didn’t even try shopping just like the vibe.
Currently watching the World Cup. Room is cold and I’m snug in my blanket I love it.Read more

Slept like rocks. I was worried Will was going to wake up cranky and sick cause he was snoring unbelievably loud cause his nose is blocked but he said he slept amazingly. Yay.
We gained 3 hours so our 8am leaving of the house in actually an 11am leaving. Feeling good.
My bites are so bad 😩 I’ve put bandaids on my back of the leg ones.
My knuckle ones suck because for whatever reason my jacket has a stupid design for the pockets and the spikey part of the zip rubs my hand every time I put them in.
Walked to the station and it’s the biggest station ever holy crap. Impossible to find anything.
So confusing we went to find an info place. Impossible to find but did eventually find a board and we think we found our train. These particular boards aren’t overly helpful because they don’t say the exact train number just location which is fine unless you have to be on a specific train number as we do because we bought the cheap tickets haha. 😆 but it’s the right time and place so probably is our train.
Went and got Will a croissant, only item thus far that is reasonably priced at 1.9 francs. Would have got a drink but not in the mood or desperate enough to pay $8.
Got some cash out because we think we have to buy tickets on the bus once we change trains.
There money is cool! The 20’s are fire engine red. There 10 is bright yellow.
Got a big coin back when buying the croissant which is 5 franc. That’s a $7.80 coin 😅
Can’t exchange so must use haha.
On the train now. It’s a very gloomy day but not raining.
Just had our tickets checked with no issue. Always a relief we are headed in correct direction.
She asked for our passports - first person to do so.
Lucky because I only have because we are wanting a stamp in Liechtenstein. 😂
Once we got off finding the bus was amazingly simple.
It’s fluro yellow and happened to be the one already waiting at the station.
Got on and asked the driver do we pay here or somewhere else? Paid him and sat. He then drove us to Liechtenstein. #country52
Liechtenstein was very quite. We first went to the tourist information center and got our passports stamped for 3 francs each haha. ✔️
We got Will a coffee then went climbing a big hill to get to a viewpoint and to the castle.
The castle is closed because it’s a private residence.
The Prince here has such power. Nothing passed through parliament without his final approval. Or that how it reads on the info boards as we walked up the hill. The castle was cool. Love the old school toilet hole on the side of the building and the dragon heads for drainage.
Will in a good mood so got some photos yewwww haha.
I also liked the view point. Disappointing it’s so cloudy so the mountains in the background were covered. Still really lovely. I’m happy the fields are still green and not white.
Walked back down and went to lunch. Really good quality. Got some tomato soup. Have been dying for soup. Still cost a fortune but have definitely seen worse prices.
Will tried a Liechtenstein beer.
We then bought my magnet and went walking to the Post Museum (Liechtenstein’s a hoot and a half 🤪🤪)
Post museum is free entry and so we did a quick wizz around. Had to go there anyway to buy tickets to the Princes treasury. Bought a double ticket to get access to national museum too because why not.
Just a lot of stamps at the post museum. Wild to think some people would be absolutely beside themselves with excitement here.
The Princes treasury was embarrassing to say the least.
You have to go in one at a time with a token. I went first - one door opened and I walked into a tiny black room and the door shut on me and I had a rather large panic and was very loud about it yelling omg what do I do, I’m trapped, why did you make me go first etc etc and then another door magically opened and their was another person on the other side… mortifying 🤣🤣
Hello 🫠
Will got confused and startled by the lady too which made me feel less stupid.
Couldn’t take photos inside but basically had a crown, A LOT of decorative eggs and some weapons - the coolest bit was a bit of moon stone from an Apollo mission.
Leaving was just as stupid. One door into a dark cupboard followed by another magical opening.one door won’t open until the other one is shut so you can’t have a sticky beak inside.
Walked next door to national museum. Whole country has English next to the German except their national museum where foreigners are likely to visit.. ?
So not sure what we looked at but a lot of taxidermy stuff, old flowers, it had a FIFA World Cup section (not really sure why because it featured everyone BUT Liechtenstein lol)
Then some Napoleon stuff we think, paintings of all past kings, a religious relics section, and other old stuff. More stamps and eggs here too haha.
Finished up and walked to the cathedral. Door was closed but let ourselves in. ✌🏼
Stain glass was very geometric. Bit funky.
Royal crypt next door which was more a single coffin thing on a boring white veranda building.
They did have a metal mural of Jesus commanding Lazarus to come out. So I presume that’s the tomb/crypt.
Then walked back to our bus. Got a different one but it took us to the right place.
Our train was only 5 minutes away. All very convenient.
Currently on the train back to Zurich.
It’s not the train I booked but did originally pay more so we didn’t have to get the specific train/time because we don’t know when we would finished.
Lady has just scanned tickets - everyone came up as green on her device and ours came up as orange but we weren’t kicked off so yay.
Walked through Zurich old town and got some nice views of the city. (Added to yesterdays entry)
Went home. Felt sick again - shouldn’t google symptoms. Never ends well. 10 terminal diseases per search.
Went for Chinese for dinner.
Worst country for a service tip to be added to the bill. 😩
BUT I still like that it’s added for you and is 7% not 20%
Home now and packed.
Keen for a rest day in Bern.Read more

Woke up to bed bug saga #2. Thankfully it’s me more affected than Will. I’ve got bites all over my knuckles which is annoying because it’s a difficult place to keep from accidentally touching and therefor scratching.
Thankful we leave today otherwise getting to sleep tonight would be a challenge for the mind haha.
Got a reply from our driver he would arrive in one minute so we raced out the door as he was 10 mins early.
Waited for him on the street and a car stopped in front of us. It was our guide from yesterday.
Put all our stuff in the boot and got in the car.
Then said to Will “wait, I don’t think it’s the same man”
And he agreed so we asked “are you our driver?”
He didn’t speak English so that’s a no.
Out we got and got our bags 😆😆😆😆😆
Could be brothers. It’s hard to see in the dark hahahah
Pleased he let us get back out and we weren’t kidnapped hahaha.
Oh dear.
Our driver, Ramin arrived 2 mins later. 😅
Drive was quicker cause limited cars at 5:40am.
He drove us past the F1 pit stop garages.
We saw them yesterday but was pleased for another look.
Gave him a tip because he has been so helpful and because to convert to money back at the airport I’ll only get $3 anyway so he can have it.
Our check in line was straight through the front door so loved that. Line wasn’t too big either.
Check in lady asked us if we needed a visa for Switzerland and we said no. But she did her job well and checked which was a bit nerve wracking cause it took her a while and a few people to determine we didn’t, all the while I’m thinking omg what if I made an incorrect assumption. 😅
Got our tickets and went through customs. Got another stamp - had to take my shoes off and everyone was looking at my stripy pink socks 😂
No food in the departures section. Booooooo.
Will be fed on plane, hopefully it’s nice and not gross microwaved egg. (It was gross egg)
Found a very large, expensive carpet magnet. 👀
Ok so one of the worst flights I’ve ever had. Medically the worst.
Graphic stories coming up:
I needed to both poop, vomit and faint. It was the fainting part that I wasn’t coping with very well.
But I did explode in the toilet. Do airplane toilets have water? No. Just suction. Didn’t work. Had to wipe it clean which was just the worst.
THANK GOD there was an empty seat next to Will so I moved him over and curled in a ball for the next 1.5 hours.
Gagging into the bag felt good.
I skulled water. I thought maybe my blood sugar was down because I was okay lying down but when I sat up I needed to faint.
Had little cries. Not enough space just needed to lie down but couldn’t.
Did manage to walk off the plane but naturally it was like a kilometer walk and then because we came from a “dodgy” country we had to go through customs again. Didn’t have to do this on the way through when arriving from France.
It was very obviously target groups of people lol.
The alarm kept going off every 5 seconds. Potentially first time through and airport cause MAN.
Singapore couple had a museli bar on their tray and the TSA guy took it and was like thank you.
They were like uh??
And he goes “problem or no problem? “
And then he ate it………..
Wanted to find motion sickness tablets but they didn’t t have a pharmacy.
I found some fruit covered in chocolate. I only wanted fruit but the chocolate gave me a sugar hit in case that’s what I needed.
Will bought ONE subway sandwich.
FIFTY FOUR DOLLARS.
EXCUSE ME WHAT?????????
So that was terrific 🙃
Went to our gate. I’ve drunk so much water trying to combat my dizziness I had to pee.
Boarded and as soon as the seatbelt sign came off I had to pee again. I was so close to peeing myself. 4L wee honestly.
This flight was better. I had moments of nausea and pretty soon after was dying for a wee again but had a window seat and didn’t want to bother the guy in the isle.
Made it to the end - had a sleep - was trying to pass time cause I was BUSTING again.
Near state of emergency had to find bathroom.
Best 2 wee’s of my life today omg.
Customs dude was great, liked his job. No fuss getting in.
Caught the train to their main station. Bit of a hassle buying tickets - card declined a few times the worked fine on another machine.
Options were confusing asking do we want 3 zones, direct route blah blah. Took a stab at it. No one checked our tickets so no arrests today.
Walked to hotel. It’s much colder here.
Zurich is a bit grey thus far.
Paid.
Paid twice actually.
Have to ask for help tomorrow. I asked today as soon as I noticed so went downstairs and got told it’s a deposit but it’s on my two separate cards and both are the exact amount for the room.
So $450 missing from account for the moment 🙃
Will wait to talk to the worker who actually checked us in cause his English was excellent.
Otherwise too hard. They don’t know what I’m showing them.
Went for salad for dinner because it was the cheapest we could find. Still nearly $60 for 2 plates of salad. 🫠
Switzerland is going to hurt. Bought cereal and milk (that we hope stays cold) for tomorrow morning.
It’s 7:15 bed time thank goodness.
Last 3 pics are walking Zurich’s old town tomorrow.Read more

Baku day excursion part 2

Things I forgot to add yesterday.
- There was this cool rock at Gobustan that when you hit with another rock it makes music sounds.
- when we went to lunch we got stuck in a lift which is a mild fear of mine. More the getting stuck part and no one knowing I’m stuck but we were with our driver and he can speak Azerbaijani so I was less stressed. He pressed 30 buttons and it worked again. We tried to take the stairs on the way back but had to do half half cause one of the doors to the street was locked.
- we saw the first oil rigs on our drive. They are incased by glass to protect.
- to get married in Azerbijan you have to take. blood test so both parties have all info haha
Jet lag is such a problem for me this trip. Can’t sync in time.
This morning was a struggle but there was hot water so I did manage a quick rinse in before getting ready.
Traffic was bonkers so driver was a bit late but did come. 🎉
We scrambled in so we didn’t piss off every else behind us. They do like their horn here.
It’s raining so even more chaotic.
Still significantly more organized that other cities. They follow the rules for the most part.
It took us about 30 minutes to get to the fire temple. Didn’t open for 10 mins so we looked around the gift shop. Found this ornament vase thing which I LOVED but only from one side. It was also expensive( 100 Manat ) so we didn’t buy it but maybe old town has some things. 👀 We’d like a souvenir from here because it is so bloody random.
Paid 10 Manat less than quoted so that makes up for yesterdays extra 10 for the mud volcanoes. I had assumed we underpaid because we didn’t buy the guide option but we did. Nice girl showed us around.
It’s called Atashgah temple or fire temple. It has 3 religions attached the building. First fire people who did have a proper name… Hindus and Seiks.
It was originally used by the fire people with natural occurring fire but they mucked it up when they stated digging for oil so now fire is not from the land.
It has 26 rooms and she showed us many of them.
Different things found at the sight and figurines depicting scenes. The usual. They had a punishment room and it’s self inflicted to remove sin and get to heaven. Only for top level people. Took us a few rooms to realize they actual kill themselves, not just hurt themselves with the fire. They lie on a slab and differs methods but the stone Is hot so it’s probably even more painful to half simmer your body for who know how long until you die, rather than an also horrendous, but quicker few minutes on full burn 🥴🥴
They also starved themselves/ didn’t drink and became paralyzed half bodied etc.
Sounds fun.
They had a cremation spot for these people. Other people went on top of building in the center and fed animals essentially.
One scene was of someone looking after animals-the sight had a specific sacrifice stone for the animals.
another scene was someone paying someone to pray for them because they didn’t have time.
Pomegranates are a big deal here but the fact they are red helps with the ongoing fire theme. Lol
Will nearly took his head off entering each door. I had to bend so he had to BEND.
Got through it all quite quickly then headed to fire mountain. It was quite built us cities/villages along the way but with a much bigger trash and graffiti problem. A lot of butchers doors wide open. One had a truck of sheep next to it 😔
Only good thing was they didn’t appear stressed waiting so at least it’s not unnecessarily drawn out for them.
Arrived at Yanardag. Super basic but super cool. The mountain has been burning for either hundreds of years … or 70 ( depends who you ask 😆😆) because of the gas in the soil.
Got some pics. It was raining so we didn’t linger but pleased we saw.
On our way back now.
Going to give our driver a decent tip simply for offering us a solution because I was so sick yesterday.
I will then message original driver to see if he can drop us to the airport haha.
I think we was pleased with his tip.
I don’t mind at all. He really did us a favor and did it with a smile. I would have eternally been disappointed if we had missed it because of me.
We are currently in a Resturant called Shakespeare. Had an English menu out front but we weren’t given one inside so are winging it by pictures.
Best food. First food in ages where every flavor was what I wanted. Love me some chicken fingers and lettuce haha.
We then went to Maiden tower. Due to the price I climbed it and Will didn’t. He wasn’t particularly interested but I wanted to do.
Lots of stairs.
It’s the symbol of the city. Gotta get involved. The view from the top would have been better if it wasn’t raining. The glass had water drops so hard to see out.
The glass exists because a few suicides because of the tale of the tower, people took inspiration.
So they put a stop to that.
Personally not how I’d want to go but moreover I’d pick somewhere higher. Not a 100% guarantee ..
We then went looking in some shops. I over paid for a few things but i don’t mind. What’s an extra dollar to me. These people sit in these shops day in day out. He had a good day today. 🤷🏼♀️
Bought a new coin purse cause I broke my other one yesterday.
And a magnet. Not satisfied with the magnet but it will do if I can’t find a better one at the airport tomorrow.
I loved a carpet one at the temple this morning. Should have bought it.
We then went to the Palace of The Shirvanshahs. It’s the old royal palace. Really needed your imagination but I liked the throne room, bathhouse, crypt and courtyards. There were a few little pray rooms too. Would have bought a jumper but they didn’t have my size.
I really want something from country 50 so I settled on a mug. Everything else I wanted will likely break along the journey 😔
Have organized an airport transfers and have spent an hour cleaning my shoes. Made an absolute mess and clogged the shower. It was already clogged but now it’s in a bit of a state. Ha.
Very impressed with how progressive it is here. Even Will commented they have statues of Women. How good and unexpected. One was featured on the literacy building as one of the country’s most recognized contributors.
Like a minute later we walked past a statue of a girl in a tube top on the phone in the shopping district. She even has boobs.
For a Muslim country this is considered butt naked. And yet there she was.
We then walked past a lingerie store.
Good job Azerbijan 👏🏼👏🏼
Packed. Went out for dinner. CHEAP. Had to use our remaining Manats and now going to bed cause very early morning tomorrow!!Read more
