August 24, 2018 Anchorage to Valdez

Steve and I flew up to Anchorage yesterday. Today we drove to Valdez, a 7 hour trip. Lots of trees, mountains and waterfalls.
We tried doing a selfie. After 4 tries, this is what we got.

Drove to Solomon Gulch fish hatchery. Thousands of salmon swimming upstream and thousands dying along the way.
What a fantastic way to spend my birthday. The morning is absolutely gorgeous. Lies of wild bunnies in Valdez.
Ended the day with Alaskan King Crab at The Fat Mermaid. Took a selfie just to show I could . The ice is the really thick stuff the boat pushed through. I dont think I've ever been this close.

The town is Hoonah, but you dock at Icy Strait Point. Quaint little town. Red buildings are an old canning facility that is now a museum and gift shop.
Spent the morning in Juneau, where we bought this beautiful piece of artwork. It's being shipped to the office. Of course, we saw the famous Red Dog Saloon. The afternoon we sailed up Tracy Arm to theLes mer
One of my favorite little towns in Alaska. It was cold and rainy when we got here, but turned into a beautiful day. We just walked the town and went to a vaudeville type show on the history ofLes mer
Just walked around the town. Found a yarn shop and a quilt shop. Dad bought a new jacket. It was a rainy day. We came back to the ship early.
Quick trip from ship to hotel. We went to Granville Island and spent several hours.
