      Definitivamente un nombre ideal para esta área privada protegida. Recorrimos casi los 10km de sus muy bien diseñados y mantenidos senderos. Es increíble la variedad de plantas que hay, a donde acuden muchas especies de animales que jamás habíamos visto y otros que ya conocíamos, como la deslumbrante morfo azul o los escandalosos oropéndolas, que nos recuerdan otras regiones más al norte; todo bajo el atormentador y constante "canto" de las cigarras, que aquí son aún más ruidosas que en cualquier otro lugar que conozcamos.

      Mientras se recorre la reserva, se nota como siempre cambia el entorno. No se camina por caminar, a cada rato hay que cruzar un río, disfrutar de una vista, subir una loma, pasar un puente colgante, parar para descansar, seguir detrás de un insecto, intentar entender aquella roca, oler una flor o relajarse con la tranquilidad de estar desconectados de todo y a la vez más conectado que nunca, como insinuaba una de las señalizaciones que han colocado para que visitantes como nosotros no nos perdamos en este vasto trozo de selva.

      Al regresar nos espera un agua tan fría, que luego de un par de minutos sumergidos, nos devuelve la energía para caminar otros 10km más. Aún nos tiene intrigados y analizando el qué hace que tenga tan baja temperatura en un lugar de relativa baja altitud.      Read more

      Wer oder was ist Heimweh ?!

      373 Tage... Ist doch schon eine Weile her, dass ich das letzte mal im Land des guten Biers war !

      Wage Erinnerungen an ein paar andere gute Sachen dort ➡ Kartoffeln, Buttermilch, Brot, Käse, Nutella, Schnitzel, Schokolade, Blubb-Spinat, Eis von Dolomiti, das Forsthaus nicht zu vergessen - Emilia,mach dich auf eine riesen Bestellung gefasst&wehe es gibt nicht genug Bratkartoffeln! , Mamas Lasagne, Kartoffelecken, Kartoffelsalat, Crêpe, Kürbissuppe, Nudeln mit Lachs+Sahnesoße.... Ich glaube,ich muss 24/7 essen, wenn ich mal wieder kurz da bin 😆

      Nagut, abgesehen vom Essen gibt's vielleicht noch den ein oder anderen Menschen da drüben, den ich früher oder später gerne mal wiedersehen würde ❤
      Und mit ein/zwei davon dringends auf Konzerte+Festivals gehen muss !

      "Geht dir das Rucksackleben nicht langsam auf'n Keks ?" - "leider" nein ! Ok, ständig packen nervt..
      sehr sogar, vor allem wird das Teil immer voller, also bitte keine Beschwerden, weil's keine Geschenke gibt.
      Abgesehen davon, ziehe ich neue Stempel im Reisepass aber ganz klar Teeservice, Topfset, Gardinenstange und dem Eiche rustikal Schreibtisch vor !

      Ich bin an Linksverkehr + Automatik gewöhnt (deutsche fahren übrigens gar nicht sooo schrecklich Auto!!); mein rechter Arm ist nackig (solltet wissen,was da war); die Haare werden immer heller+der Scheitel geht zur anderen Seite; ich hab "ein Stück Metall in der Fresse"(danke Alex,für die netten Worte).... ABER ich trage nach wie vor Vans, liebe gute Musik (die selbe,wie vor einem Jahr!)+ gutes Bier und kann,wie man an der Textlänge sieht (sorry!) nach wie vor ziemlich viel (Mist) labern ➡ hab mich also nicht allzu viel verändert

      9.1 Lago Yojoa

      We made it again. Almost up to date with the blog, actually it is up to date. Almost, because it is the 17th of January and not the 15th, but actually still, because there is nothing else to post.

      Anyway, the days at Lago Yojoa were super nice, met a friend again with whom I was also at the hot springs. Even more awesome, because after my stay in San Pedro Sula I was already changing my mind about Honduras; It is not a terrible, dangerous place, but rather a country with very nice people who are often very good at speaking English and super helpful. Although the security issue has to be taken a bit more serious as in other Latin countries. But if you stay out of the wrong areas at night (and day) you can go anywhere. Freely walk around the city, nothing alarming here. La Hamaca Hostel, also super cool. And eventually an internet connection that allows me to upload my footage. However, one important thing is still missing and I know I owe you this one for a while. But it only needs to be uploaded ... stay tuned.

      One more thing: If you look at the location of this footprint, it is a little misleading. The green area around the wood walk is actually water/swamp, not meadows, as it might look like.      Read more

      Lago de Yojoa

      Am Lago de Yojoa haben wir drei wunderbare Tage verbracht. In dem kleinen Örtchen Los Naranjos lag unsere Unterkunft und von hieraus unternahmen wir diverse Ausflüge zum Wandern und Kayak fahren (inklusive Einsammeln von Plastikmüll auf dem See). Im Ort selbst haben wir Manuel kennengelernt, der hier vor kurzem seinen Smoothie Laden "Super Juice" eröffnet hat. Durch unsere regelmäßigen Besuche an der Saftbar sind wir mehr und mehr mit ihm ins Gespräch gekommen, sodass er uns am Tag unserer Abreise am frühen Morgen um 7 Uhr zu seiner Familie nach Hause eingeladen hat, um uns zu zeigen, wie man das lokale Getränk "Pinol" zubereitet - eine Art sämiger Kakao. Dieser Einladung sind wir gerne gefolgt und so standen wir am frühen Morgen zusammen mit ihm und seiner Schwiegermama am Herd und bereiteten Pinol zu. Zum Abschied erhielten wir sogar noch eine Packung des Pinol-Pulvers als Geschenk. Ein unvergessliches Erlebnis mit liebevollen Menschen.Read more

      Cataratas Pulhapanzak

      Not much to do in Honduras one would think.

      Bueno, this statement isn’t utterly wrong. Poverty in Honduras is exacerbated by a consistent threat of natural disasters, such as floods, hurricanes and land erosion. In Honduras, 60 percent of the population lives below the national poverty line and the country has one of the lowest per capita incomes in Latin America. All this makes it hard for the country to attract tourism in the first place.

      Honduras has truly spectacular Mayan ruins at Copan, some of the best/cheapest scuba diving in the Northern Hemisphere in the Bay Islands, and a fascinating mix of different cultures, food, and traditions. But for all that I decided to skip Utila and Roatán (the Bay Islands) to save money for Caye Caulker, an island which belongs to Belize and has one of the most incredible snorkel reefs in the Caribbean Sea.

      Until now it is not quite sure if I can even enter Belize since they have very strict covid precautions. The country per se is about three times more expensive than Honduras but that can’t be applied for the touristy Bay Islands which might be in a similar price range like Belizes’ Caye Caulker. But all that will be taken into consideration in about a month.

      My Honduras adventures in a nutshell are, 1 night in Choluteca, 2 nights in Copan, 1 in San Pedro Sula, 2 nights in Peña Blanca (Cataratas Pulhapanzak) and the following day will be in Puerto Cortés so I have spent a full week in Honduras.      Read more

      Los Naranjos, Lago de Yojoa

      Per Schiff und Bus ging es von Roatan zum Lago de Yojoa. Die Reise dauerte ganze 11 Stunden und war ziemlich abenteuerlich. Polizeikontrolle, keine Sitzplätze für einige Stunden und dann übergab sich auch noch jemand auf Eli‘s Fuss…🤮🙃
      Drei Nächte wollten wir eigentlich in der D&D Brewery bleiben. Es hat uns jedoch so gut gefallen und es gab so viele Sachen zu machen, dass daraus dann sechs Nächte wurden. Das war unser Programm:
      Tag 1: Ausflug mit Kayaks auf dem Lago de Yojoa, dem grössten See in Honduras.
      Tag 2: Kleine Wanderung auf einen Hügel in der Nähe und Besichtigung einer Öko-Finca, inklusive Bad im eiskalten Fluss.
      Tag 3: Ausflug zum Wasserfall Pulhapanzak, wo wir mit einem Guide hinter den Wasserfall gingen. War sehr cool!💦
      Tag 4: Grössere, wunderschöne Wanderung im Nationalpark Cerro Azul.
      Tag 5: Besichtigung einer archäologischen Stätte.

      Morgen geht es weiter nach Guatemala. 🇬🇹

      Pronounced pool-ah-pahn-ZAHK. The name means "big falling water place" in the Lenica dialect. This is the dry season. So the flow is low. During the wet, the water flows over the full width, I'm told. Sorry for the spray on the lens. The mist got it
