      Lima, Peru

      Short trip up the coast to Lima from Pisco. I thought that Lima was up in the mountains far from the coast but no, it's on the Pacific Ocean. Big place with 11 million people.

      Did a combination tour of a bit of the city centre and the posh suburbs along the coast. The city is a bit like Buenos Aires with a lot of old buildings, squares with statues etc. Some of the very old buildings still exist and they are lightweight construction, cane with mud plastered over and painted. Why? Massive earthquakes.

      The city is located in desert and like Pisco it basically never rains here. There are some decent mountains on the outskirts of the city and the suburbs climb up them to a fair degree. Can't get good pix on the phone.
      The coast is very up market and a lot of people at the beaches today. A lot of surfing, a few people fishing and lots of things to do. Saw go kart tracks, an archery park, tandem paramotor flights and a lot of eateries.
      We have been looking a fuel prices as we go around. Diesel here is about 19 new Sol's a litre which is about $8 aud. Ouch!      Read more

      Trotz des regelmäßigen Duschens der letzten Monate konnten wir kurz vor Ende der Zeit in Südamerika nun doch in den Rang der "echten Backpacker" aufsteigen.

      Wir haben im Transfer Bereich des Airports in Lima gepennt. Kurz Zähne putzen und gleich gehts auch schon nach Santiago de Chile.

      Lima: Graffitti & Signs

      Here are a few murals, signs, and graffiti that I saw in Lima, Peru.

      After the recent political unrest, I expected to see more, but there was a noticeable lack of posters and graffiti near the port. Maybe anything put up is quickly taken down?

      I’m curious about the billboard for the tourist town, Castillo de Chancay. Funny how the main feature is a great big hunk of meat!

      I really liked the blue and black mural. I think it depicts a vulture, but I’m not sure. We Cerro saw a lot of black headed and turkey vultures swirling through the skies here.      Read more

      Sind jetzt im Hafen angekommen, es wird ein kleiner lokaler Markt vor dem Schiff aufgebaut.
      Weiter dürfen wir uns dann auch nicht entfernen.

      Lima Day 2

      Still parked in Lima while people do extended excursions to Machu Pichu, Cuzco and the Galapagos Islands. Yes we did look at doing one of those but the prices were, how shall we say, somewhat elevated and not good value.
      We went off today to a couple of museums to see some artefacts from the different early cultures in Peru. Everyone knows about the Incas but there were others such as the Mochicas and Paracas.
      Museums were interesting as was the drive. We saw the up market part of the city while today we saw more ordinary suburbs and some of the shanty towns.
      Traffic here is a bit crazy. A lot of aggressive drivers. Took 40 minutes to get across the city from one museums to the other. So far I rate the Falkland Islands as the most chill drivers, then Chile, Argentina and Peru. Argentina and Peru both rate as iffy places to cross the road.
      Bought a wall hanging to remember the trip by. Probably made in China but it wasn't expensive so I don't care.
      Leaving here tomorrow at 6:30am to head for Manta in Ecuador. Cruise is almost over 😔. Still have the Panama Canal to look forward to.      Read more

      Callao - consignés à bord

      Nous voilà arrivés à Callao, notre dernière étape en Amérique du Sud.
      Malheureusement nous n’aurons pas le plaisir de visiter la ville et encore moins Lima.
      Quelques étals sont installés au pied du bateau pour acheter des souvenirs ou autres.
      Les produits artisanaux étant de qualité, nous y sommes allés, faire des emplettes.
      On passe à la pompe, ou pour être exact la pompe vient à nous.
      Départ à 18h00 pour une longue traversée du pacifique de 2037 Mn et 4 jours, vers l’île de Pâques.      Read more

      Lima is a big city with big city problems, I don't really recommend visiting it. The pictures of the house is a house built 500 years ago and has changed very little over the years. The last picture is a bulk carrier unloading system. The crane unloads the cargo from the ship into the top of the funnels. Then trucks drive under the funnels to load the product onto the trucks.Read more

      I was relatively unimpressed with Lima - just too many crumbling concrete, dirty graffitied buildings for me. In all fairness though, there was an excellent mall (Plaza San Miguel) and the occasional picturesque scene.Read more

      Eerste cijfer, tattoo & tentoonstelling

      Dinsdag 》De eerste ochtend dat ik wakker werd in mijn nieuwe kamer. Ik besefte me dat ik nu dichtbij alles woon (behalve school), maar nu wel met de bus naar school kan. Dat besloot ik maar te doen en blijkbaar was ik de eerste. Normaal zijn de bussen hier propvol, maar vanaf waar ik ga dus blijkbaar niet. Na school zouden andre en ik weer naar de sportschool gaan. Maar in plaats daarvan hebben we pasta bolognese gemaakt als lunch. Vervolgens ben ik naar Larcomar gegaan om boodschappen te doen bij wong, maar het bleek nog heel ingewikkeld om op -1 te komen in het winkelcentrum omdat er een roltrap kapot was en de lift niet verder ging dan de eerste verdieping.

      Woensdag 》 Eerst de hele dag naar school geweest. En bij Spaans kregen we ons cijfer terug van de toets. Ik bleek een 18 te hebben (de cijfers gaan hier van 0 tot 20), dus dat was heel goed. Na school gingen we vandaag wel echt naar de sportschool.

      Donderdag 》 Vandaag hadden we weer fotografie. Dit keer was het thema armoede en hadden heel wat modellen geregeld voor onze foto's. Wel een keer leuk om foto's te maken van mensen in plaats van producten, maar ook lastiger. Volgende week gaan we alle fotos van de afgelopen 3 weken editen voor ons midterm exam.

      Vrijdag 》 Gisteren middag had ik een afspraak gemaakt om een tattoo laten zetten. Mijn huisgenoot vertelde dat het in Peru ook heel goedkoop was en wist een goede plek om heen te gaan. Dus dat heb ik vanmorgen gedaan. Na die tijd heb ik voor school gedaan voor mijn tourism les. Mijn huisgenoten hadden brownies gemaakt wat ook niet heel vervelend was.

      Zaterdag 》 Vandaag ging ik naar een fotografie tentoonstelling in monumental Callao in Callao, een stad die aan Lima vast zit. Het waren verschillende tentoonstellingen van fotografen, schilders, kunstenaars etc. Verdeeld over heel veel kleine kamertjes in een heel groot mooi maar oud gebouw. Op de bovenste verdieping was een rooftop party met een heel mooi uitzicht. We gingen alleen alweer vroeg weg. Want mijn huisgenootjes zijn allebei jarig volgende week en vierden het vandaag bij ons thuis. Dus daar moest ik natuurlijk bij zijn. We hebben een heel leuk feestje gehad en zijn daarna ook naar een club, genaamd Bizarro gegaan.

      Zondag 》 Vanmorgen heb ik lekker uitgeslapen en daarna mijn groepswerk afgemaakt voor tourism product development. Wat nog lastiger bleek te zijn dan gedacht, want ons project gaat over de provincie amazonas over Kuélap, in het noorden van Peru. Het onderwerp is heel specifiek en de informatie is bijna alleen in het Spaans.      Read more

      Zurück in Nienburg.

      Eine lange Reise.
      Mehr als 11.000 km für eine Strecke
      Und 42 Stunden (eine Übernachtung war in Lima notwendig)

      In Lima wird sehr vor Kriminalität gewarnt. Das Hotel hatte extra eine sichere Eingangstür.
      Flug über den Atlantik mit 900 km/h in 12 km Höhe bei -50° Außentemperatur.
      Ausstieg in Madrid dauerte ca. eine Stunde., über Treppen, und zu wenig Busse am Boden. ICE Frankfurt Hannover gefällt mir viel besser als Fernbusse in Peru. Hannover - Nienburg mit der S-Bahn und Halt an jeder Milchkanne.
      Unterwegs freue ich mich über Bäume mit buntem Herbstlaub in Norddeutschland.
      Wundere mich über die Ruhe hier und über wenig Menschen und wenig Verkehr auf in unserem kleinen Nienburg.
      Viele Erlebnisse, gute Menschen, beeindruckende Landschaften, chaotische Städte erlebt.
      Bin müde. Aber es ist auch schön, wieder zu Haus zu sein.
