    Day 2 Competition

    May 6, 2023 in Australia ⋅ 🌧 9 °C

The forecast was right it rained most of the night up at 6:30 to a few on and off showers, had a quick breakfast and then off to walk through the obstacle course at 7:30 and quick look at the cattle challenge and they got underway at 8, Teresa, Locky and staffy did a great job as first team out and completed all tasks in the challenge in a good time, can’t see the same about the obstacle course, they got a lot of the tasks done but run out of time to complete all 3 riders running through, was still showers on and off. Ollie and Archie had a great time in the kids activities that run over lunch, we grabbed a quick bite from the food van then it was into team penning for the afternoon and into the night under lights, the arena was fairly soggy and all of our teams managed penning 3 but not consistently and it was hard work to see some of the colours under the lights, pizza for tea with all the team around the fire and the penning finished around 9 and then they did a top cut out which ran for an hour and presentations got under way around 10, was a crazy busy day but everything went off well, into bed around 11.Read more

Had a little sleep in today, no riding for most of the crew, was a 9 o’clock start and it was a very grand affair, all the teams got presented and we stood for the national anthem, black cattle today which were better, some ripping times were set, but Bron, Snake, Kristy had a tuff time and managed to pen only 2 for the day, was done by 10:30 had presentations and they got 9th overall, a great result for the weekend to have a team in the top ten and take out the best presented team as well, decided to pack up and hit the road as we were finished early, said our goodbyes to everyone and hit the at 12:30, stopped at Maccas Glenrowan for lunch and continued our way down the Hume, had a great run through the city another short stop at officer, back on the road picked up pizza at Heyfield for tea and home at 8:30, a big run for the ponies but all good.

    Day 11 Tallangatta

    April 1, 2023 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 14 °C

Day 2 of competition and a beautiful morning with a slight breeze, everyone was saddled up for another day of fun, the cattle were still the same and it was hard work for all but we had a couple of our teams pen 3 for the day, a great effort, during the afternoon we had a beast clear the fence and run off, a few riders rounded him up and got it back in and it jumped out again straight away, fun and games, watched most of the runs again and there was not many who penned 9 over the 2 days of the competition.
The day was done and all of our teams had done well but no one got all 9, tea was over at the sheds tonight and was a great feed and then it was time for presentations, to no surprise the girls took out best presented for the weekend and then Bron, Snake, Kristy got 8th place with 7 cattle a big surprise for a finals run tomorrow, only one team penned 9 for the top spot, back to camp for drinks around the fire, lots of fun and antics, into bed around midnight, a great effort from all our teams, good luck for our team in tomorrows finals.

    March 31, 2023 in Australia ⋅ ☁️ 10 °C

First day of competition today, cloudy morning with a fresh breeze, the girls looked awesome in their get up, the arena was still wet but had good grip, the cattle came from feedlots and where pretty feral, lots of jumping into the panels and fair few teams got cracked off for no fault of their own, all our teams had a tuff day with only 1’s and 2’s getting penned, the trend continued on with the cattle all day, sat and watched most of the day, there was only handful of teams penning 3 some in good time others right on the buzzer.
Was a lot of talk back at camp about the cattle over a few drinks, a lot of our crew headed off to the pub for tea, we just cranked up the fire pots had leftovers for tea and was in bed by 11.
