Still on the B81 the Lachlan Valley Way we went through Breakfast Creek and the onto our normal overnight stop at Boorowa, decided to keep on motoring to the Hume Hwy and then onto Canberra as per usual takes a lot of thinking to get onto the bypass, all good punched out the other side and on the lookout for a camp spot, went through Michelago, Bredbo and we stopped at the numeralla free camp at 5:30, good spot tucked off the road with toilets, phone, TV, got the diesel heater on, chicken Kiev and veg for dinner with a couple of drinks, all good 👍Read more

    Day 33

    June 29, 2018 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

Probably our last day of hot weather today here at Barcaldine, a magic 27 degrees, went for a walk this morning around some of the back streets, pretty tidy town with some nice old Queenslander homes. Checked out the Australian heritage workers museum, a big display with lots of history on all things that helped make a Australia the way it is today, did some shopping and picked up some plants to bring home. Walked along the Main Street past all the pubs 6 in total, the big windmill, some sculptures made from barb wire and the good old tree of knowledge which every time we have stopped does not seem to make us any smarter. Filled in the avo by driving out to Lloyd Jones Weir camping area, not very inviting lots of caravans camped on dirt, toilets, dump point and bins can see why they stay there for extended time. Another 15 minutes south towards blackall you turn off to Lara wetlands station camp about 13 kms of sandy road, looks like a great place to stay will put it on the list for next time. Happy hour at the van and beef schnitzel and veg for dinner 🍻👍🥃Read more
