July 26 in Switzerland ⋅ ☁️ 63 °FTolkien walked to the back of this valley at the age of 19. Coming around the corner to this view, it is not hard to imagine how these waterfalls at the end of the valley inspired the Elven kingdom. Just magical!

Char SeawellLois, I had looked that up as a possibility. Once we settled into this peaceful valley, though, we find that even the 2,500 people living in Laiterbrunnen feel like Seattle. So we are sticking to the mountains and waterfalls this time. Every time we head towards a city, my heart starts to hurt.

Neither of us were inclined to torture ourselves. We made our way to breakfast at 9:30, then decided to walk on a trail to Lauterbrunnen.
