Our northernmost destination. We felt we were standing at the top of the world, and truly we almost were. Standing on the beach we were looking directly out to the arctic circle. Almost by accident we discovered a chocolatier offering the "world's best hot chocolate." I think Gordon agreed.
Speaking of the arctic circle, even though it is not solstice yet, we think it does not get dark up here. Because it is so close to the circle, there is a glow that lasts hours both after sunset and before sunrise. The darkest we've seen has been around 2:30 when there was a faint pre-dawn glow.
