      Sightseeing in London

      29 augusti 2019, England ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

      London Town

      31 juli 2023, England ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

First day out in the big smoke. The tube was hot, the legs are sore…loved it. Started with a walk around the standard spots: Southbank, Parliament, Downing St, Trafalgar, Piccadilly, Horse Guards, The Mall, Westminster. Explored the Natural History Museum though with some rain and with school holidays it got very busy. The Pliosaur, and the minerals a highlight for me (H). We had our first British pint in South Ken; a Brixton Lager and one “Level Head Session IPA” an ode to St Edmund beheaded by Vikings in 869 (and miraculously re-joined to his body hence the sainthood); appreciated the design for both flavour and the pint glass. Lunch was a cash only buffet in Chinatown, a rushed choice after getting a little too hangry (H again)…we attempted to use old £ notes Mum and Dad gave us from their last trip, but was not accepted hehe. A trip to the bank will be next. Thank goodness for Issy and Livvy who navigated, had extra cash and generally were lovely tour guides!Läs mer

    • Party 🎉at the Palace 👑

      4 juni 2022, England ⋅ ☁️ 13 °C

What an absolute honour to be among hundreds of thousands of people, joined together with the common goal of honouring our monarch who has spent 70 years in service to her people! I have never been part of such a well managed, respectable, proud, loving and emotional gathering! It was such a personal emotional and beautiful tribute to Her Majesty! You could feel everybody with open hearts and respect for their Queen 👑

The entire crowd was full of enthusiasm and so happy! Every single person had a British flag and was waving it madly the entire concert. There were different age groups from people in wheelchairs, on walking sticks to babies and families altogether just happily dancing and enjoying the spectacular event. There were showers during the day but it was like someone had ordered perfect still and calm weather just for the two hour concert. As soon as everyone was home there was rain again! Even the heavens were respectful of our Queen ☀️☀️☀️🌈🌈🌈

All ages and all races coming together with one common goal… Almost everybody arrived with a bag full of alcohol and food but not once did anybody need to be kept in check or have their bags checked. The Brits 🇬🇧 certainly know how to party without getting messy when it’s called for! The crowd dispersed respectfully and calmly back out into London.

The crowd went wild for Queen (the band, not the Monarch) who opened the entire concert and other highlights were definitely the theatre tribute, Rod Stewart, Elton and when Charles and William spoke the crowd went wild! When Charles asked everyone to cheer for “Mummy” the roar of the crowd was deafening and wonderful 🥰🎉🇬🇧

The most poignant moment was when the concert opened with Lizzie & Paddington comparing marmalade sandwiches 🥪 Apparently Her Maj kept this under wraps from even the closest family members! It was beautiful 😍

Photos simply can’t do the experience justice and it’s hard to convey just how many people were all through St James’s Park and the Mall leading down to Buckingham Palace. All I can say is that it was a dream come true for me and being a part of history is something I will remember forever!

God save our gracious Queen 👑

      A Dog and His Stick

      3 maj 2022, England ⋅ ☁️ 55 °F

This German Shepherd was walking through St. James Park with his huge stick. As we passed him, I asked his owner if he just found it. With a long-suffering tone he replied, "Oh no. He takes it with him EVERYWHERE."Läs mer

      Wildlife🐿️

      5 december 2023, England ⋅ ☁️ 7 °C

      London Day 4

      20 augusti 2023, England ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

Soo I texted Julia to hang out again today because it really broke my heart to think that I’d never see her again!! So I had planned to do a bunch of touristy London things which is funny bc she’s a local. So we went early to Buckingham Palace to watch the changing of the guards or something. But I was so confused because it was actually SOOOO busy and packed but I didn’t see the guards change anywhere. I saw the dudes in the big black fluffy hats parade and play music but that’s kind of it. We were trying to look for the ceremony but it was just so busy everywhere, that I couldn’t even tell where it was happening. So we gave up after a while, and decided to just sit and chat in the park. We talked about the cute animals that roamed the park 😇. Then we walked around and saw Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, and then walked along the other side of South Bank for a bit. We grabbed some hoisin duck wraps from Pret-a-Manger and then took the metro to Brick Lane. Our time here was short, but I was wanting to meet up and see Benita- one of my roommates and friends from Amsterdam. We just went into the vintage market area of Brick Lane because that’s all I had time for :( the area was super cool and had like graffiti and stuff. After, me and Julia headed back to the metro, where I had to say yet another very sad and very tearful goodbye. It’s the same thing, where I really don’t know when I’ll see her again :( and that’s what makes this so difficult. But, I’m no stranger to goodbyes at this point.
And so, on to the last chapter of my trip- PARIS!! I hopped on the Eurostar and made my way to the city of love. Slept through the whole ride, and made it at night. I went to grab some asian food for dinner and then metro’d over to my hostel. Embarrassingly, I bought only a zone 1 ticket, but I needed 2 zones because I didn’t realize that my hostel is just outside of the city of Paris. So then the gate wouldn’t open to let me exit, and I was like trying to crawl under the gate, but I was actually stuck because I had my huge backpack on. And it was just a really embarrassing picture, if you can picture it 😅😅😅 but someone helped me open the gate and get through🤣

      St Jame's Park

      14 augusti 2023, England ⋅ ☁️ 21 °C

St James's Park is a 23-hectare (57-acre) urban park in the City of Westminster, central London. A Royal Park, it is at the southernmost end of the St James's area, which was named after a once isolated medieval hospital dedicated to St James the Less, now the site of St James's Palace. The area was initially enclosed for a deer park near the Palace of Whitehall for King Henry VIII in the 1530's. It is the most easterly of a near-continuous chain of parks that includes (moving westward) Green Park, Hyde Park, and Kensington Gardens.

      So beautiful.

      St. James’s Park

      26 februari 2023, England ⋅ ☁️ 7 °C

After strolling through the bustling city it was time for a little break in one of London‘s many green little oases - St. James’s Park. 🌳 Located right behind the Buckingham Palace, it’s an amazing spot to just lay back and relax for a bit. As always there were lots of squirrels out and about, so I convinced myself to leave the park to walk the 15 minutes to the nearest Tesco after all so I could purchase some peanuts. 🥜 And what should I say? It was absolutely worth it. I was hunted by lots of different birds 🐦 and especially the geese 🪿 were quite eager to tear the bag of peanuts out of my hands, but the adorable little squirrels 🐿️ who from time to time even dared to eat the nuts right out of my hands made it worth while haha.Läs mer

Shopping auf dem Weg ins Mandarin Orient

      11 september 2022, England ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C
