Located in Manhattan's NoMad district, The Evelyn Hotel celebrates the heritage of one of NYC's most historic neighborhoods. In 1903, when our hotel was originally designed by William H. Birkmire, the area known as Tin Pan Alley was the epicenter of the American music industry. During its heyday in the early 20th century, Tin Pan Alley was buzzing with Broadway and vaudeville performers, musicians, and songwriters, including George Gershwin, coming and going to the music houses.

Built in the Beaux Arts style, our historic hotel opened in 1905 as Hotel Broztell. In 1992 it was the Gershwin Hotel. Following a multi-million-dollar renovation and a name change as a tribute to Evelyn Nesbit, the original it girl, The Evelyn Hotel was reintroduced in 2017. A transformation of the hotel's spaces, rooms, and dining concepts in summer 2018 showcases the Art Nouveau style of the early 1900's and design nods to the building's music and art heritage.Read more

Dancing at broadway dance centre

Anouk found a great place for some breakfast pancakes. Because who is going to America with having pancakes at breakfast right? So we decided to walk there, it was only a 30 min walk.

The plan of the day was follow some dance classes and soho. Since the others didn’t want to follow the same classes as I wanted we decided to split up again. I walked back because it was a 40/45 min walk and I had some time to kill. I love walking through a city alone. And I had some trust issues with the subway because that was the reason I couldn’t make it yesterday.

I stopped to grabbed a fresh smoothie because I was craving something ‘healthy’. But damn. That was not fun, it was nearly $10!? How is soda $1 and something good for your body $10???? I still can’t believe it.

Yesterday I already saw where bdc was located because it was next to the theatre of moulin rouge. I got in and waited for the class to begin. I was planning on doing theater jazz and jazz funk. Jazz funk was really something we in the Netherlands call commercial, but it was suuuuper fun. I really enjoyed the 3 hours of dancing. After that I grabbed a subway back to the Airbnb and grabbed a quick lunch (dunking donuts). To find that the others were already back and waiting for me. So I showered super quick, got dressed and we went straight to SOHO.Read more

Rokefellera centrs

Ar Rokefellera centru arī šoreiz viss negāja tik gludi. Izrādās, ka es biju nopircis biļetes uz Top of the Rock vienu dienu par ātru. Par laimi kamēr vēl Santjago barojām parkā putnus paralēli ar e-pastiem izdevās sabīdīt lietas un iedeva jaunas biļetes uz mums vajadzīgo datumu un laiku bez nekādām papildus maksām.
Sākumā atgriezušies Lielajā ābolā dodamies uz Centrālparku, kur apskatām dažas vietas, kur pagaišajā reizē nepaguvām. Piemēram Bethesda Fountain, kuru zinu no Džona Vika filmām un noteikti vēl daudzām citām. Interesanti. Palīkumojām vēl pa mazajām taciņām un Strawberry Fields klajumiem. Uz Bow Bridge notika masīva kāzinieku foto sesija. Arī šoreiz satikām daudz vāveres, kuras katra risina kaut kādas savas problēmas un nemaz neliekas cilvēku traucētas. Aizgājām arī līdz Belverde Castle un Cleopatra's Needle. Brīžiem grūti saprast, kāpēc tik ļoti dažādi no konteksta izrauti objekti šeit atrodas. Ko Ņujorkas Centrālajā parkā dara kaut kāds Ēģiptes Kleopatras obelisks?
Pēc pastaigas sagribas nedaudz ēst. Piestājam Centrālparka Zoo kafejnīcā, lai lieki nesarežģītu šo procesu ieejot atpakaļ pilsētas ielās. Es apēdu čīzburgeri, Madarai vēl iekšiņa nav līdz galam atdzīvojusies, tāpēc apēda tikai jogurtu ar musli.
Šī atdzīvojās, kad paspīdēja iespēja aiziet līdz Maicy veikalam. Kāda stunda laika mums šim pasākumam bija, ko Madara arī lietderīgi realizēja. Viena MK somiņa kabatā. Cilvēks priecīgs.
Laiks doties uz galveno šodienas objektu - Top of the Rock. Nedaudz līņā lietus, bet cik izskatās no ielas līmeņa baigi tam nevajadzētu traucēt skatam. Mums biļetes bija uz 16:50, bet bijām krietni ātrāk. Tā kā bija maz cilvēku, tad mūs uzreiz arī ielaida. Oktobrī gan iekšā, gan uz ielas bija bezgalīga rinda. Šoreiz kā VIP bosi pa tukšiem gaiteņiem ejam uz liftu.
Uzbraukuši augšā uzreiz acu priekšā visā krāšņumā Empire State building. Fonā tālumā redzam arī One World trade center milzi. Pa visu terasi ir tikai daži cilvēki tāpēc brīvi varam staigāt apkārt. Otrā pusē redzams praktiski viss Centrālparks. Starp lietus mākoņiem ik pa brīdim izlaužas kāds saules stars, kas parka zaļos kokus iekrāso spilgtos toņos. Viegli līņā lietus, bet nekad neesam bijuši tik gatavi lietum kā šajā ceļojumā, tāpēc neliekamies traucēti.
Tā kā pēc šī objekta jādodas atpakaļ uz lidostu, tad steigties negribam, pasēžam un vienkārši pabaudām Ņujorkas panorāmu. Skats tomēr ir diezgan unikāls, kuram pielīdzināt varbūt var tikai kādu no Āzijas megapolēm. Patīk mums Ņujorka! Lai arī šoreiz šo skatu redzam krietni ātrāk nekā varējām iedomāties oktobrī, kad pirmo reizi bijām NY, bet jāsaka tāpat kā toreiz - jāskatās, kamēr ir, jo nezini kad nākošreiz ko tādu redzēsi.Read more

230 Fifth Rooftop Bar

Als Abschluss unseres New York Aufenthalts haben wir noch eine Rooftop Bar besucht. Die Auswahl war gar nicht so leicht. Rooftop Bars gibt es wie “Sand am Meer” in New York. Schlussendlich haben wir uns für eine, laut Google, Szene Bar entschieden. Die Rooftop Bar war auf zwei Ebenen aufgeteilt. Die eine Ebene war mit einem DJ ausgestattet und war vergleichbar mit einem klassischen Club. Die zweite Ebene war die klassische Rooftop bar mit einem direkten Blick aufs Empire State Building.Read more

Vi så en reklame for dette museum i metroen og tænkte det kunne være en sjovt ide. Vi tig derhen efter arbejde en onsdag for at se os omkring. Vi kom derhen og fik billetter og komplimentere champagnedrinks med candyfloss i 💁🏽‍♀️ der var rigtig mange bizarre ting som den første sexdukke, et kondom fra WWII osv. 😂 en hel etage var også bare dedikeret til dyr. På første etage var der så en hoppeborg man kunne gå ind i som var udsmykket indeni med bryster. Billederne er hentet fra nettet og gemt, da vi begge havde lagt vores mobiler nede i garderoben.Read more
