    National Army Museum - Waiouru

    February 19, 2017 in New Zealand β‹… 🌧 17 Β°C

In December we went all the way down from Hamilton to Masterton and on our way we had seen the National Army Museum of New Zealand. But hadn't enough time to visit it.

So today was the day of visiting the National Army Museum! The weather wasn't the best, but that's not a problem at all. We spend a few ours there and had seen a lot! Everything from 19th century in Africa, to New Zealand war history or the WWI and WWII. And a lot of weapons how they change during time and lots of old stuff like flags, papers, coins, letters, photos, stories ...

Outside of the museum were a few tanks, but of course no real ones! πŸ˜‰πŸ˜Š

After that it was so hard to find some food because the town just got a petrol station, fish n chips, a expensive pizza place and Subway.

But I thing you can guess what we took.😊

On the road again - Whanganui

    February 18, 2017 in New Zealand β‹… β˜€οΈ 21 Β°C

Our destination for the evening was a bigger city called Whanganui. We had driven all day along the Westcoast, through Palmerston North, where we got super delicious sushi 😍🍣🍀, until we arrived at 5pm in Whanganui. It is such a beautiful city, nice houses, big river and a little bit out of town there's the beach.

Sadly we can only stay one night because we want to see a lot in short time. We are planning to go to the South Island in March, so that means we don't have a lot of time left to explore everything from the North Island we haven't seen πŸ™‰

    Rain is always there

    February 17, 2017 in New Zealand β‹… 🌧 18 Β°C

Now as you can read from the title, it was raining again. Ah I am so tired of it! We can't really do much besides driving. 😐🌧

On our way we had seen the 'Twin Lakes' but not as good as we could have seen them, because for a really good view, you had to go on a little hill but with the rain there was no chance to do this. Furthermore it was really foggy, and the view wasn't the best. There were more to see but it was impossible.
But that's not a problem because we can't see everything that's recommended to see. 😁

Oh and the guy in the car on the picture probably hates rain because he walked his dogs with the car! πŸ˜‚ haha incredible idea for not getting wet.πŸ•

    Bye Bye Wee Red Barn

    February 16, 2017 in New Zealand β‹… β˜€οΈ 19 Β°C

We started travelling again but before we said goodbye to Alan and Dot, as well as to Andrea and Jacob!
Our plan was first to drive south, south West to the coast and then all the way up to new Plymouth and Mt. Taranaki. Later we will do the Tongariro Crossing and go back south by driving down the east coast.Read more

    Freedom

    February 15, 2017 in New Zealand β‹… β˜€οΈ 17 Β°C

Oh yes, that feeling to sleep as long as you want is soo good. We slept until 11am and I continued doing the washing. We have some many things to wash. It's unbelievable πŸ˜„ But the washing machine is not big at all.

We went into the city for a new tyre and washing the car. The washing was good and quickly done, but to find a cheap secondhand tyre is so hard. Nobody do sell second hand ones or at least the expensive ones.

Maybe we will find a better mechanic in another town.

In the evening we went again to Lone Star

    Finally!

    February 14, 2017 in New Zealand β‹… πŸŒ™ 13 Β°C

Today was our last day working for Alan and Dot!😍
    Yes, we finally made it!
We didn't do really much today. I painted again the shop and picked strawberries in between and Tim needed to bring Block four (strawberries used to grow there) down.
At 4 o'clock we were done!

We were so lucky about it. But now we need to do other things, like washing, cleaning, packing etc. And of course getting a new tyre πŸ˜„

At seven we met the chech couple at the campground to do our last BBQ together. We had some Hoki fish with baked potatoes. The French/Canadian couple, I didn't tell something about them before, did join us. They are really nice persons and had spend the last two years living in Australia. Now they want to travel New Zealand before he will study and she will work in Canada.

We had a lot of fun, like everytime we met!πŸ‘ŒπŸ˜

Jacob and Andrea did remember more german words they have learned in the Chech Republic. And the French guy did know the German word 'Kartoffel' for Potato! πŸ˜„ Jacob sang again a german song, something about 'ring ring das Telefon ringt' πŸ˜‚

Andrea had made some really good Tiramisu with kiwifruit and banana. Jacob doesn't like Banana. So she did a part for him without it. He is very special about what he likes to eat and what not. Like fresh fruit and vegetables are okay (not everything) but almost nothing cooked.

We are thinking about to meet this guys again on the south Island, because their ferry will go on Saturday and we probably will stay on the north island for one more month.

Tomorrow we don't need to get up early! Yes!

    Rainy days are annoying days

    February 13, 2017 in New Zealand β‹… 🌧 16 Β°C

It was like the heaviest rain we had here in Masterton. And of course everyone needs to work. But after two hours everyone who wants could finish ( because they were completely wet). And at eleven everyone except me, Laura and Michelle could finish.
Yes, we needed to pack Strawberries.
My only wish was to go back in bed and cuddle with Tim. It was like the perfect 'sunday'.

    But only one day left!

    Minigolf with the Chech

    February 12, 2017 in New Zealand β‹… β˜€οΈ 15 Β°C

Our work today was about three and a half hours long. Simply, there is nothing to do then picking the strawberries every two to three days. On the one side we were very happy about the short work day, because it was getting really hot again, but on the other side we wanted to work to get more money for travelling on. And the fact that we are leaving on tuesday FINALLY!!! means that i am not going into the packhouse and shop anymore. They will train a new girl who will do the things i did. Her name is Michelle, i dont wonder why she becames the new shopgirl. Almost the same name makes the things easier for Dot and Alan (they need ages to remember names!).

We went to the city to do some shopping like Pak n save, Countdown and have a look at the shop Farmers. Manon told me about it and was absolutly in love with this place and of course the make up there. And yes, she is right, i could spend a whole day in that shop! :D

At 3 o'clock we meet the chech Andrea and Jakob. We played Minigolf and it was a lot of fun! They are so nice and we always have so much fun together. The boys were much better than Andrea and me. I knew from the beginning i will loose. But that's okay, it is just a game. What matters is that we had fun! :)

Later we had some bread with cream cheese, pastrami and salat. I normally do not like sausage on my bread, because it tastes awful but pastrami with cream cheese is soooo good!

For the rest of the day/evening we will play minecraft and watch Famly Guy before we will go to bed.

    Day off for everyone, but...

    February 11, 2017 in New Zealand β‹… β˜€οΈ 18 Β°C

But not for me. Yes, i worked the whole day. None of them told me that i would work that long. Tim and I wanted to do some stuff like getting a new tyre, maybe clean the car etc. but that wasnt possible. Alan told me that he had the idea that i can work today, because we will leave next week. I think, that this is a nice thought but sometimes you need to relax and have a day off. In the morning I needed to pack everything like always. Apricots, corn, nectarines, red and brown onins and potatoes for the first time. In New Zealand all people are asking you which potatoes you are selling. They always want to know the name of them. In Germany no one would give a f*uck about the name or the variety.
However, my next job, and the job for the rest of the day, was painting again. It is so boring.πŸ˜₯πŸ–Œ

At 5:30 pm i could finish. Yeah. What a good day. And the weather wasn't good, too. NO it was such the perfect weather. Not too hot, not too cold, the sun was shinning the whole day and i was inside, painting the shop.

Tim slept until 1 pm and played after that minecraft. He was waiting for me the whole day.

For dinner we had made fishburgers. πŸ”πŸŸ They tasted really good. And for dessert we had brought ice cream, but I think it wasn't the best idea, because we had stomach pain after eating it.

And like always we finished the day with two episodes of Family Guy. πŸ’»

Not Pita Pit but Selfmade Pita

    February 10, 2017 in New Zealand β‹… β˜€οΈ 16 Β°C

Today was just a normal day. Alan wasnt there and that means I needed to watch after the shop and pick strawberries at the same time. It is way better than doing something in the shop, because I am outside, see the sun and you don't need to hurry up.

In the evening, I don't really want to eat some fastfood or take away, so Tim drove me to Pak n save to do some grocery shopping, because I was planning to do some filled Pita. He wanted to get some Pizza, but 5 minuted later, he called me that it was so overfilled that he would need ages to even make an order. So I shopped for two and we made a very delicious Pita!
