    Die ersten Tage

    September 8, 2018 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

    Arrive in Calgary

    June 15, 2019 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

Lisa and I had an afternoon Delta flight from MYR to ATL, then caught a WestJet flight to Calgary. We arrived in the Calgary airport around 8 PM local time (PST). The airport was very new and nice. The customs process was much faster here than what we have previously seen in Mexico and Aruba.

The Tauck agent met us outside of baggage claim and drove us to the Westin in downtown Calgary. Overall, very impressed with Calgary. It looks like a very clean and modern city. The driver said that it has a population of 1,250,000. The top industry in Calgary is energy (oil companies). The second biggest industry is cattle/beef. There is a big rodeo in Calgary every July that is one of the biggest in North America.

We got to the hotel around 9 PM. Due to the northern latitude sunset wasn't until around 10:15 PM. We ate dinner at a really nice restaurant called Joey Eau Claire's. We both had BBQ Salmon Budda Bowls. Delicious and healthy! Time to sleep.

    Calgary rib fest

    August 26, 2016 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

One thing canadians seem to be really into is: BBQ pork ribs with all kinds of super mega special sauces. And accidentally we stumbled into one of those fests as we walked through the city core just past china town. A very interesting but also unknown appearance for us...Read more

    Exploring Calgary downtown

    August 26, 2016 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

Starting with finding a parking space. Since a day parking fee of 20 to 30CAD inside the city seemed for us a bit to much riboff we just drove over one bridge to the north and did not only got free parking for the day inside a residential area, but also a great first few onto the city skyline.Read more

    Calgary, end of the day

    August 26, 2016 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

From the city centee we headed first a little east, to a historic forr which we couldn't enter due to the to high entrance fees, but therefor explore rhe outer flower garden.

Looking back on the Eastside of the city center we walked back north, through a park with some pokemen Go groups as well pretty rhythmic sport gymnastic ladies and ending up with another nice overview of the town before he hit the road again, driving towars the 'Three sisters campground' half way back to Banff.

In the end we took a little detour of about 450km just to see Calgary! :)

    Calgary Tower

    April 22, 2016 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 13 °C

Our hotel is across the street from the Calgary Tower - of course we went up for a gander and a drink at the revolving restaurant! Wasn't game enough to step out onto the glass though...
