    Es geht los!

    April 4, 2021 in France ⋅ ☀️ 3 °C

    Transit time

    January 1 in France ⋅ ⛅ 12 °C

Our transit stop is but a mere hour later in Paris. Thanks Covid🙄 We have roughly four hours to pass until we continue our trip to San José. However, once we pass through passport control and arrive at our gate, the first hour is almost over already. Time for some sandwich and rice bowl, yum!😋Read more

    Boring room

    May 22 in France ⋅ ☁️ 70 °F

So here we are in our second day of isolation in the most boring room in Paris. There is literally a village of modern hotels built near the Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris. Two things make it bearable, the BBC which is the only English language game in town and the fact that I’m so miserable with this sinus infection that rest is all I want to do. I spoke with a Viking representative this afternoon and to boil down all that she said is that we are in the Bastille until they say otherwise. So we wait until Tuesday to be tested again to learn our fate. Joseph is hanging in there reading mostly and trying not to say that his wife is an idiot for getting Covid. If he tests negative on Tuesday and I don’t he will head home. I truly hope he doesn’t get this worthless omicron. I received many concerning messages and thank you all. Please keep us in your prayers and I’ll keep you posted.Read more

Of the 2 sets of neighbors that did not complete their trip, the unaffected one went home right away. based on these sad experiences, that is what we plan to do if we get bit by the bug..

Nancy and I have been walking back and forth between the door and the window. Not at the same time. Yesterday I had 5,500 steps and Nancy exceeded 8,000 (according to Fitbit).

    Still in Paris lockdown

    May 23 in France ⋅ 🌧 63 °F

Got a call this morning saying they will be here tomorrow morning between 8:00am and 9:00am to do a throat swab. Supposedly within an hour or so we should have the verdict. Dum de de dum…Our immediate future hangs on the tip of a Q-tip. I am still battling my sinus infection but pressure and pain has lessened but still going through a box of tissues and taking some interesting cough syrup they bought for me. We should have been visiting Versailles today. Boo hoo. But as it turns out being sick has changed my perspective on my trip. Except for 2007 when I had a collapsed vertebra, I have always been very healthy during all my travels. So I shan’t weep and realize how blessed I’ve been and continue to be and look forward to going home and getting well.
I decided to explore my view and discovered a nice little shrub rose bush outside my window. I’ve been watching the BBC’s coverage of the Chelsea Flower Show so even though this little bush wouldn’t make it into that august event, it is appreciated by me. So until tomorrow, prisoner 174 (room number) signing off.

    Amsterdam - Paris

    April 25 in France ⋅ ⛅ 11 °C

Yesterday we traveld from Amsterdam Schiphol toward Paris airport.

We stayed at the Mercure hotel in the airport where at least I (Nina) passed out straight..😴

The alarm went off way to fast for our early breakfast and transfer back to the terminal. In Paris the airport is so big you need metro/trains to get to the right terminal/gate etc. At least we are traveling sky priority so it saved us a lot of time in both airports and less stress.

Now we are waiting for the plane to take off, 8 hour flight to Havana. ✈️🌞

    2. Tag Disneyland

    July 21 in France ⋅ ⛅ 25 °C

    Flying to Genoa

    August 22, 2019 in France ⋅ ☀️ 16 °C

Transfer bus arrived at 7am for Charles De Gaulle. Flight at 10.30am to Genoa.

Whilst enjoying our pastries, I encouraged Athena to face time her mother on FB messenger. Angela was so happy to see her daughter. She kept saying,'I love you Sandra', as she knew full well the coaxing that was required. Beautiful.

Called Jules and chatted away. Hi Lee. Sunny afternoon in Eumundi. So good to see happy smiling faces of people we love xx

We wander toward our gate and Athena turns to me and says 'They are calling out our names!'
    SHIT! 'RUN!!!'
We ran down the glass corridor to gate 33. Phew, just made it.
    So 1hr 20mins to Genoa.
And here we go from 'Bonjour' to 'Bonjourno' ☺

Landed and caught the Volubus to Station Principle.
At a little outside wine and beer bar at the station, I asked for a piece of spinach pie. The woman serving was confused and yelled out 'American, American'. A guy came over to serve me. Of course I said 'No American, Australian 🇦🇺 with a big smile' they laughed and all said ohh Australian!

I just love interacting with everyone I come across. A cheeky grin 😁 spreads across my face and another wonderful haphazard attempt at speaking foreign flows out of my mouth. It is so great.

I get our tickets to Monterosso for 11 euro each. And head to platform 20. Athena says she is not sure this is our train. I ask what do you want to do? She said she will go check.

Our train was leaving in 12 mins though. Our train time came and no Athena. I messaged her to say our train is due now. I thought good god where is she? She turned up in the nick of time. I was ready to leave without her. 😡

Dritter Advent im Durchflug in Paris

    December 12, 2021 in France ⋅ ☁️ 6 °C

    Christian

On our way to Portugal on Monday

    September 6, 2021 in France ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

Today will be another day of travel. We are up for breakfast at 8 and will cab to the airport for our flight at 1pm. The check in was smooth as well security and we were settled in the waiting room by 10.30.
An uneventful short flight and we were in Faro by 3pm as we lost an hour. The Sunline transfer van was there to meet us right on time for the one hour ride to the condos in Lagos.
Of the 2 condos I think ours is the poorer set up. But it will function for 2 weeks. Pretty sparse of furniture. We are in separate buildings and each cluster has a small pool in the middle. Very hot here, even at 4pm.
The lady (Theresa) showed us the units and then drove us to a grocery store to pick up a few essentials. We also got some to go items for our dinner- chicken and rice. Unfortunately the pool was closed by the time we were ready to swim.
We had a short visit with the others and then off for bed and some wash.
