    Kathedrale Notre-Dame de Paris

    July 28, 2020 in France ⋅ ☁️ 24 °C

    Paris - Notre Dame

    September 27, 2018 in France ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

    Notre dame

    September 22, 2018 in France ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

Late start this morning, we woke up at 11:00 am...

We caught bus 82 that took us to "Luxembourg gardens" a beutiful place to relax and just sightseee people.. we stayed here for an hour and then went to the "Pantheon"

A train ride later and we arrived to Notre Dame cathedral, just on time for the rain to start.. we had to buy some umbrellas.. we bought some paints, grabbed some good photos from the "pont de l'archevêche" and headed to "pont neuf" for our river cruise.

Luckily the rain stopped so we moved to the upper deck for good views of Paris. The boat went up to the Eiffel tower and back, along the river there was a noisy "techno parade"

The ride back to the hotel was on a really jumpack full train..

    Food in Paris

    June 29, 2016 in France ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

Some meals I captured in Paris. Unfortunately I did not find any frog legs to eat...

I realised I did not like goose liver, which I ordered by mistake due to the language barrier. I was trying to ask for frog legs, and I realised in the end I should have just screenshot a photo of a frog and its leg.Read more

    Notre Dame

    June 9, 2018 in France ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

I'm glad I went to the cathedral in Laon because Notre Dame de Paris was PACKED and I had no interest in being in those kind of crowds.

So instead of going inside, I stood in the square and watched people let PIGEONS land on them.

Wtf? Do these people not have pigeons where they come from? I just kept thinking "skyrats skyrats skyrats...."

    l'amour toujours

    April 22, 2017 in France ⋅ ☁️ 14 °C

    Rose Windows

    November 7, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

Using my fisheye lens I was able to get both of Notre Dame's rose windows in a single shot. I really love that lens! I'm able to get such unique shots with it, things that aren't possible with a more traditional lens.Read more

    Hooked on a Feeling

    November 7, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

I've always loved visiting churches and cathedrals but the one one I've really felt a holy presence is in St Patrick's Cathedral in New York City. That's changed today. I can feel a very strong holy presence here in Notre Dame. If anything, it's even stronger than what I feel in St. Patrick's. I think that all churches should have that feeling but, sadly, very few of them do. I'm so happy to be getting that feeling here! It makes our visit here extra special!Read more

    The Power of Prayer

    November 7, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 48 °F

I don't really go to church as often as I should, but when I do go I'll usually light a candle or two. As I understand it, when the candle is lit, it's in remembrance of a loved one who passed or when we're praying for someone who is sick. Either way, it acts as an anchor point for the person lighting it. It’s a comfort and gives a sense of unity with those around you. It doesn’t make God listen to you any better or faster though. You could also just as easily light the candle in your own home if you felt the need. It also doesn’t have to be in a church, just as you’re not limited to praying only in church.Read more

    Notre Dame Cathedral Paris

    November 13, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 8 °C

Today was a short day. We moved to the hotel....Hotel Les Rives Des Notre Dame. Wow! The staff are great, very helpful, very friendly, and very informative. We settled in very nicely....it's luxury compared to the apartment we were staying at! And what a view!! We even have wine glasses!

The hotel is in a fantastic location with an abundance of restaurants, cafes, and bakeries all around. We tried one for lunch....and Jay had his favourite....French Onion soup! I had a Croque Madame...which was not good. Morgan had a house vegetable soup...and Aston...well...she just made a mess!

Today we braved the towers of the Notre Dame! We first had to get a time ticket, so we had about an hour and a half to wait before our 30 minute arrival window. We ventured through the gardens and found a couple of springy bouncy cars and a great big sandbox for the girls to play in. As we continued to explore, we ventured past multiple military men carrying rather large guns. Morgan had a few questions...she was very curious as to why men with guns need to patrol the streets....it's a different world at home. I'm assuming security has been increased because it's the second anniversary of the 2015 terror attacks. We feel safe here...but I guess everyone does....until something happens.

Away we went....387 steps up a narrow, winding staircase...and our 5 year old climbed them all, with no complaints! The views were worth every step! There are so many gargoyles too...each one different. We were able to climb right up the bell tower. Some spots were very tight to squeeze through....there's only one way up and one way down. What an adventure! This is definitely a must-do when travelling in Paris!
