      Visite de Rennes pour cette matinée fraîche mais ensoleillée.
      Nous ne pouvions pas quitter la Bretagne sans manger les fameuses galettes. Que nous avons trouvé excellentes 😊

      Art déco Piscine Saint-Georges

      The Saint-Georges swimming pool is a municipal swimming pool built between 1923 and 1926 in Rennes. Emmanuel Le Ray, the city's architect, designed the project in 1911. He designed the exterior elements which were executed by the Parisian ceramists Gentil and Bourdet.

      The decoration of the swimming pool and public baths was carried out during construction by Isidore Odorico (son) in Briare enamels. The decorative program created (pool, promenades, footbaths, bottom of the tanks), represents one of the major achievements of Art Deco in France.

      Designed by Jean Janvier then Alfred Daniel, it was created by Mayor Carle Bahon between 1923 and 1926.      Okumaya devam et

      Hauptstadtfeeling und ein altes Seebad

      Nachdem wir mit dem Gefühl der Erfolglosigkeit gestern einschlafen mussten 😉, war die Freude beim Checken der E-Mails dann doch groß.. ein Haus das wir angefragt hatten, wurde uns bestätigt.. Nach Fotos und Filmchen ein kleines Traumhäuschen.. wir werden morgen mehr wissen.

      Heute waren wir in der Hauptstadt der Bretagne, in Rennes.. eine schöne Studentenstadt.. viele junge attraktive Männer.. und auch schöne Häuser 😄.
      Es war grad Markt, Samstag halt.. und mitten in der Markthalle steht ein junger Mann und verkauft mit einem kleinen Wagen, aus Pumpkannen Kaffee.. herrlich.. nebenbei verstopfte er den Weg, aber egal..
      und wieder diese Patisserien.. wir genehmigten uns das beliebteste Dessert Fronkreisch‘s, ein Kouign Amann. Keine Ahnung wie das ausgesprochen wird, der Finger war wieder eine große Hilfe.
      Das sind Butterkuchen (ohne Butter 🫣)mit diversen Füllungen … Noisette.. Apfel..ganz lecker..
      Diese moderne Stadt, die tatsächlich ihr Repertoire an den Unis in den letzten Jahren erweitert hat und eine enorme Menge an Fachrichtungen bietet, hat im Stadtkern schönes altes Fachwerk, wo man sich auch fragen kann, ob der Bau-TÜV da einfach weg guckt.
      Pünktlich zum einsetzenden Fisselregen sind wir weiter nach Dinard.
      Diese kleine Stadt ist ein altes Seebad das bekannt für seine alten Villen ist , erhaben über dem Meer. Entsprechend ist das Klientel.. und die Auslagen in den Geschäften. Zum Glück war ein Antiquitätenladen zu.. da hätte ich so einiges unter der Tür durchziehen wollen…
      In einem typisch französischen Diner😄, haben wir ein Croque Monsieur gegessen.. was sonst 😅.
      Zurück in St. Malo haben wir noch einen kleinen Gang am Meer gemacht.. die Sonne hatte heute kaum eine Chance, so blieb sie auch beim Untergang einfach weg.. aber die Stimmung hatte auch was… den Hunden hat sogar das kalte Wasser nichts ausgemacht..
      einige Abgänge von der Promenade sind schon besonders..

      Rennes

      So I made it to my first French city. The route I am following doesn't go through the centre (and I was told I wasn't missing much) but it does pass quite a few high-rise buildings. The main photo is Les Horizons which was built in 1970 and has 480 apartments. I think it beats your bog standard block of flats. There are a couple of photos are just views as I walked along the river La Vilaine. The river bank has wide, open paths either side and there were lots of people taking advantage of it; walking, running, cycling, fishing. It had a nice vibe in spite of its urban backdrop.

      Last night I had blister problems. The ball of my right foot was so bad that I was tending to use the outside of my foot instead of the sole. I took advice and finally managed to sort it last night. I'm not going to do many miles today. I want to rest the foot and keep it clean as tomorrow is the start of the path to Nantes.       Rennes, Château du Guildo, Dinan

      Nachdem ich neben einer Schaafswiese aufgewacht bin (eines hat morgens sogar sehr interessiert an meinem Auto geschnuppert 😅). Habe ich die Hauptstadt der Bretagne Rennes erkundet. Und ich muss sagen, diese Stadt hat mir wirklich gut gefallen. Der Parlamentsgebäude, der Große Park, die Stadtmauern, der Fluss und vor allem die schönen Häuserfassaden sind wirklich sehr sehenswert! Ich hätte nicht gedacht, dass diese Stadt so viel zu bieten hat. Weiter ging es zur Fort La Latte und zum Château du Guildo, beide am Meer und beide mit interessanter Geschichte. Vom Château du Guildo sind noch mehr Überreste übrig, was dem Ganzen einen authentischen Eindruck verleiht… So und dann kommen wir mal zu Dinan, die kleine Stadt hat eigentlich nur ein paar tausend Einwohner, aber genau an diesem Wochenende (daher war es gut, dass ich nicht schon einen Tag vorher da war) ist ein riesiges Mittelalter Festival. Schon auf der Straße kommen mir lauter verkleidete Leute entgegen und man, diese Stadt ist auch voll! Aber diesmal stört es mich irgendwie nicht, im Gegenteil, viele sind so toll mittelalterlich angezogen, dass ich fast ein schlechtes Gewissen habe „normal“ rumzulaufen. Die Stadt sieht auch so sehr mittelalterlich aus und so wird diese Stadt durch das Fest zum tollen Erlebnis. Ich füttere mich durch, genieße das Flair, die Kostüme und abends eine tolle Party, die Nacht wird dann von einem starken Regenfall begleitet, aber irgendwie passt es zum mittelalterlichen Feeling 😅. Glücklich falle ich bei meinem Schlafplatz in die Traumwelt, was für ein Glück habe ich bisher, dass ich anscheinend immer zur richtigen Zeit an den Orten war 🤗.Okumaya devam et

      Rennes (Breton: Roazhon) is a city in the east of Brittany in northwestern France at the confluence of the rivers Ille and Vilaine. In 2017, the urban area had a population of 358 327 inhabitants.

      It has a nice little historic center but also some quite interesting new architecture.

      Rennes's history goes back more than 2 000 years to a time when it was a small Gallic village named Condate. Together with Vannes and Nantes, it was one of the major cities of the ancient Duchy of Brittany. From the early sixteenth century until the French Revolution, Rennes was a parliamentary, administrative and garrison city of the historic province of Brittany in the Kingdom of France.

      After the destructive fire of 1720, the medieval wooden center of the city was partially rebuilt in stone. Remaining mostly rural until the Second World War, Rennes underwent significant development in the twentieth century.

      In 2018, L'Express named Rennes as "the most liveable city in France" and I can definitely understand that.      Okumaya devam et

      Leclerc Cleunay

      Gelukkig is de hypermarché van Leclerc wel open. Wat een aangename en grote supermarkt (34 kassa’s)! Heerlijk om in rond te dwalen en bijzondere boodschappen te kunnen doen… ook de bestelling van Mark is “in the pocket”.

      La Criée Marché Central

      First things first... when I arrived in Rennes - yeah, arrived in Brittany - I went straight to the central market to buy some great local food.

      The central halls are a commercial building, designed by the architect Emmanuel Le Ray between 1912 and 1926.

      Since 1986, the Municipal Criée has hosted a contemporary art center: La Criée.

      So I found some good looking local specialties and now I will start looking for a nice coffee in the sun 🌞.      Okumaya devam et

      Così forte che abbiamo interrotto il nostro giretto precocemente, siamo venuti nell'ostello e ci siamo messi ad organizzare tutto ciò che dobbiamo.
      Prossimo treno ore 17.50 circa, abbiamo un sacco di tempo.

      Eve of the city visit

      Rennes, the capital of Brittany - like the whole of Brittany itself - will always be a rainy place in my memory after today's visit. I have rarely experienced such wet weather, and for so many days in a row. I know that's unfair to the region because the last week of September was wet all over France but it fits the narrative and life isn't always fair. 😃

      In the evening I found a refuge in the forest where I made myself comfortable. There I built myself a cheap second cooker.
      My actual cooker works with petrol and it's a bit complicated to get pure petrol here (or it's expensive). After a few attempts, I was finally able to prepare my dinner and now have a cheap burner variant that has low consumption and also gives me some heat. 🔥

      28 September

      It rains cats and dogs all night and I am glad that the tent is watertight. It will stay like this all morning so there is no reason to get up early.
      In the morning I am woken by a few approaching voices, but I stay in the tent as it is still raining outside and I have no reason to leave the warmth of my sleeping bag.
      I have my breakfast in the shelter and notice that the forest is teeming with young people. Talking to their teacher, I learn that they are learning to orientate and navigate in the forest.

      The actual visit to the city is briefly summarised, as I am in Rennes for quite banal reasons:
      1. buy and change an inner tube, my current one has to be pumped up every few hours. I do this at 'Le Citron 🍋', a bike shop that also offers a café.
      2. I have to do some laundry.
      After that, I roll through the old town and admire the half-timbered houses and street art, then I roll off into the sunset.      Okumaya devam et
