      Malaga, Gibilterra e Jerez de la Fronte

      Dopo esserci preparati e aver fatto il check out, andiamo a fare il "Giro di Meli" per Malaga, visto che aveva piacere nel farci vedere la città che l'aveva ospitata per 2 settimane. Abbiamo visto la Cattedrale di Malaga e, dopo un giretto veloce, siamo andati a pranzo da "Illary". Riprendendo la macchina Meli ci ha portati a vedere la sua scuola EF, che si trova fuori città. Dato che era di strada, ci siamo fermati a Gibilterra, abbiamo fatto una passeggiata sulla "main street" e abbiamo preso del the a "Gibraltar tea company". Sulla strada del ritorno, abbiamo raggiunto anche lo "Europe point", il punto più vicino all' altro continente. Infine, siamo andati a Jerez de la Frontera, dove avremmo dormito e, dopo il check in, abbiamo cercato dove mangiare, capitando alristorante "Pedro Nolasco".Read more

      Gibraltar (11. - 12.2.)

      Gibraltar, Grossbritannien

      Nach einer etwas längeren Fahrt erreichten wir unseren Stellplatz direkt im Hafen von La Linea de la Concepcion, einen Katzensprung von Gibraltar entfernt. Man sah vom Stellplatz aus den Flughafen und den berühmten Fels von Gibraltar.

      Da es Samstagabend war und wir wieder einmal Lust hatten auszugehen, warfen wir uns in Schale und liefen über den Grenzübergang nach Gibraltar. Dabei läuft man direkt über die einzige Landepiste des Flughafens. Ganz britisch gingen wir in ein Pub und genehmigten uns einen Burger und Fish&Chips mit einem Bier und Cocktail. Da direkt neben dem Pub noch ein Casino war, versuchten wir anschliessend unser Glück im Roulette. Schnell packte uns das Spielfieber und lies uns erst gegen 3 Uhr morgens wieder los. Immerhin war der Besuch von Erfolg gekrönt. Der Rückweg führte wieder über den Flugplatz und im Camper angekommen, fielen wir erschöpft ins Bett.

      Deshalb schliefen wir am Sonntag auch etwas länger, bevor wir in ein Fitnessstudio gingen. Marion hatte eines gefunden, in welchem man einen Tag gratis trainieren durfte. Die Sporteinheit tat uns beiden sehr gut und wir konnten auch die warme Dusche des Studios nutzen, doch das Training würden wir später noch bereuen.
      Frisch geduscht machten wir uns auf die Stadt zu besichtigen, da es jedoch schon spät war, standen wir etwas unter Zeitdruck. Deshalb gingen wir direkt zu den Siege Tunnels. Wir hatten uns aber nicht über die Lage der Tunnels informiert, welche sich auf dem Fels von Gibraltar befinden. Dies bedeutete ca. 30min treppenlaufen, hier bereuten wir den einstündigen Besuch des Fitnessstudios zum ersten Mal😃. Die Aussicht vom Felsen und die Tunnels selbst waren aber grossartig und die Mühe wert, zudem konnten wir den Abflug eines Flugzeugs von der Poleposition aus beobachten.

      Anschliessend ging es zurück zum Camper, um die Sportsachen auszulüften und sich fit für den anstehenden Super Bowl zu machen. Diesen wollten wir in einer Sportsbar in Gibraltar schauen, welche mit einer Super Bowl Party Werbung gemacht hatte. Ein weiteres Mal den Flughafen überquerend ging es zum Abendessen und als wir kurz vor Mitternacht die Sportsbar ansteuerten, mussten wir mit Schrecken feststellen, dass diese geschlossen hatte (wahrscheinlich wollte doch niemand in Gibraltar das Spiel schauen). Also wurde nichts aus dem Super Bowl und wir liefen wieder zurück zum Camper, hier bereuten wir die Fitnesseinheit zum zweiten Mal 😃.

      Im Camper angekommen stellte ich (Jonas) den Super Bowl ein, war aber bereits vor der Halbzeitshow eingeschlafen. Somit konnte ich (Jonas) am Montagmorgen nochmals das Spiel im Re-Live verfolgen.

      Nun geht es nach Madrid, da wir ja noch eine Heizung zu reparieren haben.      Read more

      Gibraltar 🇬🇮

      Wir starteten gegen um 9 nach Gibraltar. Nach ca. 2h Fahrt hatten wir auch schon unser Ziel erreicht. Ein schöner Parkplatz, direkt im Hafen. Von dort aus starteten wir unsere Tour nach Gibraltar. Schauten uns den Affenfelsen an, waren bummeln in der Innenstadt und gönnten uns dann einen leckeren Cocktail am Hafen. Spektakulär war übrigens der Hin- und Rückweg..Da wir vor der Grenze parkten, gingen wir als Fußgänger über die Grenze. Das heißt man läuft einmal über die Start- und Landebahn des Flughafens von Gibraltar. Auf dem Hinweg mussten wir an den Schranken warten, da gerade ein Flugzeug startete, auf dem Rückweg konnten wir aber leider keinen Start oder eine Landung beobachten. Es war unerträglich warm und das obwohl nur 22 Grad gewesen sein sollen, aber es ging kein Lüftchen. Es war ein schöner Ausflug! ☀️Read more

      Other hitchhikers and moving to the camp

      On the second day i wanted to look for another accommodation. So i went to the campsite outside of the city and asked there for a place to stay. The problem was that i only had a hammock with a tarp and no tent. The campsite only accept people with a tent and didn't let me stay. I decided to go back to the hostel and continue my search at the marina. At the marina in La Línea i met the first other boat hitchhiker. His name is Przemek and he is from Poland. He told me that there are about 10 other hitchhikers looking for a boat to the canaries and they have a small camp outside of the city. In the afternoon i met the others from the camp and decided to join them on the next day. The days at the marine i spent with talking to the people at the peers and looking for new boats arriving. The people at the marina are really open and friendly and i had some great conversations.
      In the camp with the other hitchhikers were also a very nice atmosphere and all of them were really sympathic. We dumpster dived our food, cooked together and had a nice time. With the time we were about 13 or more hitchhikers at the marina and most of them stayed in the camp. What i really appreciated, that there weren't any fights between hitchhikers and everybody was happy for the others. Although, there haven't been much boats going to the canaries.
      The time in La Línea passed by so fast. I stayed there for nearly one week and nevertheless, it felt like only few days.      Read more

      British Gibraltar

      Heute waren wir im britischen Städtchen Gibraltar an der spanischen Küste. Ich wollte eigentlich auf den Ape Rock hoch aber die Schlange an der Seilbahn war soo lang, dass ich das in meiner freien Zeit nicht geschafft hätte. Ich war dann im botanischen Garten und einem Wildlife Center und habe mir die Stadt angeschaut. Als Trost habe ich mir dann ein neues Pandora’s Charm mit einer Kompassnadel gekauft, symbolisch für meine Schiffs-Abenteuer. Die Kombi von britischem und spanischem Flair in der Stadt ist gewöhnungsbedürftig aber witzig. Auf jeden Fall ein Must See!Read more

      Delfintour I

      Die Tickets für die Delfintour haben pro Person 27 Pfund gekostet. Sie waren auch inklusive Seilbahnticket.

      Mit den Tickets zusammen hat man eine Karte bekommen mit einer Übersicht der Tiere, die man theoretisch sehen kann.

      Auf dem Boot waren etwa 30 Leute. Ich habe einen Sonnenplatz an der Reling ergattert. Schatz saß gegenüber im Schatten.

      Als unser Boot pünktilich um 12:30 Uhr ablegte hatten wir noch das Glück, einen Airbus von Easyjet starten zu sehen.      Read more

      Delfintour II

      Die Tour wurde von einer Frau begleitet, die live kommentiert hat. Natürlich auf Englisch, aber sehr gut zu verstehen.

      Unser Boot fuhr langsam aus dem Hafengebiet, vorbei an der Start- und Landebahn hinaus aufs offene Meer!

      Der Blick auf Gibraltar war sehr beeindruckend. Wir haben auch das Kreuzfahrschiff "Queen Elizabeth" gesehen.      Read more

      Landung auf Gibraltar I

      Leider saß ich auf der falschen Seite bei der Landung, sodass ich The Rock nicht sehen konnte, erst als der Flieger dann sich zur Parkposition gedreht hat.

      Die Landung war cool! Die Landebahn ist wirklich sehr kurz und der Flieger muss ganz schön stark bremsen damit man nicht am anderen Ende wieder im Meer landet.Read more

      Gibraltar

      I've been to Gibraltar 🇬🇮 many many times and I love the place, but this time I decided to give the old town a miss.
      On the walk along North Mole Rd, which takes you from the ship right in to the old town, I turned right at the first traffic island, that's the one with the statue commemorating the evacuation of the civilian population of the rock in WWII.
      There is nothing of any historical interest down there, but it was nice to get away from the tourist magnet of the old town.
      It is basically just a residential area, where I passed, the local Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall, and the local swimming pool, this as well as the indoor pool, has two outdoor pools fed directly from the sea.
      Further along the road is the very British Morrisons supermarket along with the obligatory McDonald's.
      Next came St Bernard's hospital which looks very new and modern.
      Finally I came across a lovely little park with views of the cruise ship and part of the port, quite an industrial view but nice all the same.
      On the way back to the ship I crossed over to the other side of North Mole Rd, to another residential area which overlooks the other side of the harbour and the end of the airport runway.
      It was quite exciting to see the planes takeoff, but it must be very noisy for the residents.
      So that was about it for my stroll around this part of Gibraltar, it did make a nice change from the old town, and was interesting in its own way.      Read more

      We could feel the ship docking this morning at about 6am. Can't really feel ocean movement at night but we can feel slight motor vibrations.

      Walked into the town which took about 25 minutes. Very quaint. Cobblestoned and very British influenced. Interesting place. Cool that everything is dutyfree so I got my new fav perfume for almost NZD50 cheaper! Yeah. Robin got a pair of white shorts - very Europeans 😉

      We had a tour booked for 1.30pm but we missed it. We were going to see the monkeys and look through some WW2 caves. We were soo disappointed. It wasn't entirely our fault. We went to the meet up point 15 mins early, but there were just a bunch of guys smoking; no tour signs. So we moved on a bit, waited, nothing, back to ship, nothing, back to pick up point 5mins late, he was gone! Phoned the tour company and they credited us. Learned to just trust our gut and stay put.

      Oh, well, more pool time.
