Travel Tip:
It is useful to buy your Water bus pass in advance. The best place to get this is in the arrivals baggage claim area of the airport.
There are two machines one is for the Water bus which is also called the vaporetto. This is operated by ACTV. You can buy the pass from these machines which also gives you access to discounts on certain visitor attractions. I bought a pass for seven days and found it very useful. I I was able to avoid queueing for certain attractions like St Marks and Dogges Palace. Once you get the card, you then have to validate it using the machines at one of the vaporetto stops. The machines are not at every location just so you are aware..

The other Machine is for à la Laguna which is the Water bus that takes you from the airport directly to Venice and stops via Marano. This is a very handy service and buying a return in advance is very helpful as it’s not as easy to get return ticket as you would think when you’re in the city as there are a limited amount of offices that sell the passes so it’s always good to have your travel organised in advance before you go on the Water bus system. When I was here, the average cost of a single journey is €9 so it certainly pays to get the pass. I saved about €70 by getting the pass so it is well worth considering it. Czytaj więcej

This hotel has excellent staff and is very reasonably priced. The restaurant menu is quite limited and a little bit expensive but you get amazing views at dinner and also at breakfast as the windows look out directly onto the lagoon. The garden bar and the surroundings are fantastic. I couldn’t fall this hotel and the location is perfect if you want a quieter evening away from the hustle and bustle of the main city. Czytaj więcej

Murano Glass Museum, Rio della Misericordia, Jewish Ghetto, Rialto Bridge, Campiello S. Vidal, Rialto Mercato and then concert at S Vidal

Near Marano Colonna vaporetto stop is a church hidden off the main street which hosts Glass blowing demonstrations. It cost me €10 to watch this fascinating craft and was well worth the money. It lasts about 45 minutes.
I didn’t get to spend as much time at Rio Della Misericordia as I would’ve liked and will definitely go back but it’s a great little district which is full of little Trattoria’s and also crafts and local shops. It’s very relaxed and very chi-chi ! Czytaj więcej

...and she's found a cat. She literally said I hope we see a cat here and before she even finish the sentence this cat just popped around the corner like it was summoned.

Murano is a series of islands linked by bridges in the Venetian Lagoon, northern Italy. It lies about 1.5 km ( north of Venice and measures about 1.5 km across with a population of just over 5,000 in 2004. It is famous for its glass making. It was once an independent comune, but is now a frazione of the comune of Venice.
At first, the island prospered as a fishing port and through its production of salt.
In 1291, all the glassmakers in Venice were required to move to Murano. In the following century, exports began, and the island became famous, initially for glass beads and mirrors. Aventurine glass was invented on the island, and for a while Murano was the main producer of glass in Europe. The island later became known for chandeliers. Although decline set in during the eighteenth century, glassmaking is still the island's main industry. Czytaj więcej

Übernachtet wird aus Geldgründen auf dem Festland und dann gibt's nochmal einen Ausflug mit der Fähre nach Murano. In Italien geht vieles spät los hat aber auf jeden Fall den Vorteil das man als Frühaufsteher seine Ruhe hat und es noch angenehm leer und kühl ist. Czytaj więcej

We took a water taxi through the Venetian canals and across the sea to Murano Island which has been famous for centuries for its fine glassware. After a glass blowing demonstration where the crafter made a vase and a glass horse, we visited the showrooms which were filled with chandeliers, statues, wine glasses and jewelry. All colours and designs sparkled at us from their mirrored shelves, and I fell in love with a black and gold sea turtle. I did not love the price tag though so it stayed on its shelf.
Our trip back to Venice brought us past beautiful buildings and bridges rising above the blue waves and it felt like living in a fairytale. Czytaj więcej

Mit dem Schiff fuhren wir nach Murano, einer Insel bei Venedig. Das alleine war schon eine Tortur, da das erste Boot uns nicht mitnehmen wollte.
In Murano haben wir uns die Stadt und deren viele, und ich meine wirklich viele, Läden mit dem berühmten Glas, angesehen.
Das Museum hatte leider gerade Mittagspause. Wurde dann Eis und Espresso. War niemand wirklich traurig darüber. Czytaj więcej

Did you know there is no fire allowed on the main islands of Venice? To prevent a fire taking out the whole island. That’s why they say Venice doesn’t have good pizza - you can’t find fire cooked pizza in Venice.

Since 1291, Venetian glassmaking moved to the island of Murano. The craft of glassmaking here is passed down from generation to generation. I couldn’t believe the smallest details some had. Murano was v pretty. Czytaj więcej

Photo tour 2.0, and Murano

Today we woke up early again and went to have our photos taken.

We met up with our photographer Cris. She was from Brazil, but she had been living in Venice for 6 years.

She took lots of photos on bridges and stuff like that. We did lots of posing, but not as much as the first photos.

We ended the tour by getting onto a gondola. She took photos of us getting in the gondola.

Our gondolier was called Tomas. He had been doing it for 16 years. It was very relaxing and calm. We encountered no other gondolas.

About halfway through the ride, he showed us the gondola factory. Every year it only made 1 new one because it mainly focused on restoring and painting gondolas. It is a very historic site. There is a stable number of 440 gondolas in Venice. Each year when they make the new one it is because one has died and gone to gondola heaven.

We finished the ride and went to have breakfast. Unfortunately there was nothing Mama and I liked, so we just gave up on breakfast.

We then were going to do a rooftop terrace but Papa was not feeling very well because of the heat. It was very gloomy and over cast but REALLY hot.
Because of the heat and Papa, we stayed home for a while.

We then went to the island Murano by the water bus. Murano is famous for glass making. They make all sorts of cool stuff. They started doing that in 1219. They make animals, glasses and magnets.

We then had lunch. It was a very nice experience. They had Hawaiian pizza there. That is funny because the Italians think that pineapple on pizza is disgusting, and they only had it for the tourists. The even funnier thing is that it is the best Hawaiian pizza I've ever had!

We then explored Murano a bit more. We did a Pokémon Go route around Murano. What I found really cool is that there were like 50 Magikarp on Murano. Magikarp are usually uncommon, so this was really weird.

It was around 5:00 so we headed home and went to sleep.
