      Aufenthalt in Fukuoka + Abflug Okinawa

      Nach dem Frühstück ging es mit dem Shinkansen nach Fukuoka. Von Fukuoka aus geht es für uns dann am nächsten Tag weiter nach Okinawa.

      In Fukuoka selbst hatten wir diesmal nichts geplant und schauten uns zu Fuß die Stadt an. Nicht weit weg von unserem Hotel war ein Food Market aufgebaut und hier holten wir uns Curry und Spieße.

      Im Hotel planten wir noch Flüge und Hotels der nächsten Tage, bevor es zum Abendessen nochmal in die Stadt ging.

      Am nächsten Morgen geht es für uns dann weiter nach Okinawa. Endlich Sonne und Tauchen!      Lue lisää

      Fukuoka (baseball and surf beach)

      Fukuoka was a perfect place to end my month in japan. Thereve been a lot of times this month where ive gone somewhere to eat or do something only to abort my plans because of a huge queue or the thing being sold out. Not in fukuoka!! ive been able to go around doing anything i want because there arent any tourists here :)). First day i went to a baseball game which was very interesting. I was a little concerned that the atmosphere at the game would suck because it was on at 1pm on a monday arvo but i needntve worried because the stadium was packed and full of energy, goes to show how crazy Japanese people are about baseball. The actual game got off to a slow start, i didnt realise how rare it was for batters to actually hit the ball in baseball but in the first hour i think maybe 3 people managed to do it. The game picked up heaps towards the end tho, the fukuoka hawks had been down by 2 runs for most of the game but ended up winning because a guy hit a home run when two people were already on base. Baseball is so exciting when people get on base, everyone in the crowd was on the edge of their seats whenever it happened (super rarely). Two other things that i thought were cool were the beer girls that walk around with big kegs of beer on their backs and that everyone in the crowd blows up balloons and then lets them loose at the same time when the hawks win. The beer girls pour a super frothy pint but I managed to sneak in two big cans of gin and soda so it was fine.

      The next day i got souffle pancakes again. Id been dreaming about getting more pancakes all trip coz the ones i got in tokyo were soooo good but id completely given up hope because every time i went to a souffle cafe thered be like a 2 hour long queue ... Cheers fukuoka!

      On the last day i took an hour long bus to go check out a beach i thought looked cool and to my surprise there was surf!! The spot was called palm beach and its on the coast that faces korea so it probably never breaks but its been pretty stormy here lately there so there was probably a pretty big swell. The waves were kinda like metams which was nice coz it meant i wasnt bothered that i didnt have a board. I was freezing as soon as i got off the bus because it was windy and rainy but i forced myself to go for a quick swim anyway coz i hadnt been for a swim in japan yet. For my last dinner i got sushi and splurged on some expensive bits of fatty tuna which were so soft it was essentially just paste, idk if i prefer it over normal tuna but it was good.      Lue lisää

      Fukuoka > Busan

      We had an early-ish flight from Fukuoka to Busan, enjoying some original Japanese Starbucks coffee (it's a thing), and flying over the beautiful island of Tsushima - where one of our favourite games is set.❤️

      We landed in Busan where, fun fact: you aren't allowed to take any pictures of the airport, as SK is still under a war footing with NK!

      We saw some absolutely perfect endless cherry blossom roads from the bus, before making our way to downtown Busan. It's a completely different vibe to Japan already. very lively and a lot more chaotic. But our high rise Airbnb directly at Gwangalli beach had some lovely views in store for us. (The names of some of the hotels and shops are also very funny here as they use a lot of english).

      As Korea is renowned for its food, we had to get ourselves some K-BBQ, Beer and Soju, and signed up for a 3 hour waiting list. It was totally worth it!      Lue lisää

      Letzter Stop in Japan - Fukuoka

      Nach 2 Wochen haben wir die letzte Stadt in Japan erreicht.
      Direkt am Hafen gelegen kommen wir vom hier morgen direkt mit der Fähre nach Südkorea.

      Aber erst natürlich die Stadt ein bisschen ablaufen und an den Yatai Straßenständen das Essen probiert.

      In Tokio wurden wir von einem leuchtenden Tower begrüßt und in Fukuoka verabschiedet uns auch wieder einer.

      Flying to Okinawa

      After enjoying breakfast and checking out, I found my friend from Korea already waiting for me in the lobby, so we left together to explore Hakata Station Rooftop again as well as the area around Tenjin, where the final day of the Christmas Market hadn't yet begun. Around Noon, we collected our luggage from our respective Hotels and took the metro to the airport. There we could check in our luggage early, had lunch in the airport, some very greasy but tasty burger and left for Okinawa in time around 4pm. It was a short, but excellent flight with Japan Transoceanic Air. The stewardesses gifted us with beautiful smiles and free drinks. When we landed, we just had to grab our bags, since it was a domestic flight and then we shared the cost of the taxi to our Hotel Grand Consort Naha. Around 8pm we headed out for dinner and found an excellent restaurant nearby where we enjoyed great and tasty food, especially fantastic Sushi and had lots of fun in the cool atmosphere, our seats were right at the counter with the kitchen behind, so you could enjoy watching all the great food being prepared right in front of you and all of our inquiries were answered to the best of the staff's abilities. I just enjoyed the experience to the fullest and didn't photograph, while my friend photographed all the food. He is such a foodie :-) Once again, it's absolutely fantastic to be able to experience the great service at such a restaurant and I am very happy that my friend from Korea is not as shy as myself and asks so many questions, so I can enjoy the interactions and reactions.

Dort konnten wir unser Gepäck früh einchecken, aßen am Flughafen zu Mittag, Ich einen sehr fettigen, aber auch sehr leckeren Burger und machten uns pünktlich gegen 16 Uhr auf den Weg nach Okinawa. Es war ein kurzer, aber ausgezeichneter Flug mit Japan Transoceanic Air. Die Stewardessen beschenkten uns mit einem schönen Lächeln und kostenlosen Getränken. Als wir landeten, mussten wir nur noch unser Gepäck holen, da es sich um einen Inlandsflug handelte, und dann teilten wir uns die Kosten für das Taxi zu unserem Hotel Grand Consort Naha. Gegen 20 Uhr machten wir uns auf den Weg zum Abendessen und fanden ein ausgezeichnetes Restaurant in der Nähe, wo wir großartiges und leckeres Essen genossen, vor allem fantastisches Sushi, und viel Spaß in der kühlen Atmosphäre hatten. Unsere Sitzplätze befanden sich direkt an der Theke mit der Küche dahinter, sodass wir es genießen konnten Wir sahen zu, wie das großartige Essen direkt vor useren Augen zubereitet wurde, und alle unsere Anfragen wurden nach besten Kräften vom Personal beantwortet. Ich habe das Erlebnis einfach in vollen Zügen genossen und nichts fotografiert, während mein Freund das ganze Essen fotografiert hat. Er ist so ein Feinschmecker :-) Es ist wieder einmal absolut fantastisch, den tollen Service in so einem Restaurant erleben zu dürfen und ich bin sehr froh, dass mein Freund aus Korea nicht so schüchtern ist wie ich, und viele Fragen stellt, dadurch kann ich viele unterhaltsame Interaktionen und Reaktionen genießen.       Fukuoka

      The Shinkansen from Hiroshima to Fukuoka was packed, I think everyone was getting out of Hiroshima before the G7 started. Luckily we had booked a seat this time and the trip was only an hour. Our Hotel is a short five minute walk from the station, It looks a lot classier than the last one, even has a full check in desk instead of a hole in the wall. We left our bags and headed off to find Hakata Old Town. There’s not much to it but it’s a nice quite street with older building and temples.

      It’s warming up the more we go south, you need to be out of the sun in the middle of the afternoon. We headed out again about 5ish to find the Yatai Food stalls. They are street stalls along the canals selling everything from Ramen to Barbecue. Passed through Canal City on the way which is a flash shopping centre, but it does have a musical water fountain display which was pretty entertaining.

      We found the food stalls but it was still pretty early so we wandered around for a while and then decided to have a drink somewhere first. Went into this deserted restaurant overlooking the canal and sat at the bar. So many staff in here and no customers. We sipped our beers watching three chefs get an assortment of food ready. We thought they were a bit premature because there was no one even walking pass this place.

      A gong must have sounded somewhere because suddenly people started appearing from all directions. It’s funny in restaurants because all the staff call out greeting whenever anyone arrives or leaves. So there was a chorus of greetings for the next half hour. We sat at the bar with the best seats in the house watching the chefs put together some amazing dishes. After they’d dished them out to the function we’d ask can we have some of that. They were very surprised at first, then they thought it was funny, then I think they loved that we wanted to try everything.

      It was a great night, like being invited onto the set of iron chef.      Lue lisää

      Final Day in Hakata / Fukuoka

      Today I visited Uminokamichi Seaside Park, a kind of large outdoor playground with a variety of things to enjoy, yet all a bit jumbled together. A car museum, water park, animal park, some rides, camping grounds, and many more. I wanted to see the Capibara, because they are cute, they also had Mara. The Animal Park was better than I expected, similar to ours in enclosure size. It was raining and I luckily found a raincoat in the park store, because I forgot to bring my own umbrella. I relaxed and drank coffee, but left early due to the bad weather. Afterwards I returned to Hakata and walked to Canal City from the train station. Canal City is a stylish and cool shopping area consisting of 4 buildings with a canal between them. The atmosphere was really cool and there were lots of people. I browsed a little and witnessed a cool Santa clause Christmas disco light show. Later that evening I met up with my friend from Korea that I originally met on Sofia. His plane got delayed and he arrived after 10pm, but we made the best out of the evening and went to canal city again for a drink and refreshments. The rest of the late evening I packed up for tomorrow and then called it a day. Onwards to Okinawa Soon.

Es regnete und ich fand glücklicherweise einen Regenmantel im Parkladen, weil ich vergessen hatte, meinen eigenen Regenschirm mitzubringen. Ich entspannte mich und trank Kaffee, reiste aber aufgrund des schlechten Wetters früher ab. Danach kehrte ich nach Hakata zurück und ging vom Bahnhof zu Fuß nach Canal City. Canal City ist ein stilvolles und cooles Einkaufsviertel, das aus 4 Gebäuden besteht, zwischen denen sich ein Kanal befindet. Die Atmosphäre war wirklich cool und es waren viele Leute da. Ich habe ein wenig gestöbert und war Zeuge einer coolen Weihnachts-Disco-Lichtshow mit dem Weihnachtsmann. Später am Abend traf ich meinen Freund aus Korea, den ich ursprünglich in Sofia getroffen hatte. Sein Flugzeug hatte Verspätung und er kam erst nach 22 Uhr an, aber wir machten das Beste aus dem Abend und fuhren noch einmal nach Canal City, um etwas zu trinken und uns zu erfrischen. Den Rest des späten Abends packte ich für morgen zusammen und machte dann Feierabend. Morgen geht es nach Okinawa :-)      Lue lisää

      Hakata; Japanischer Garten und Abschied

      Dann besuchen wir den angeschlossenen wunderschönen Japanischen Garten, in dem sogar halbstündlich künstlicher Nebel erzeugt wird. Einen besseren Abschluss unseres Japanaufenthaltes können wir uns nicht wünschen!!!
      Wir fahren entspannt zurück, schauen noch kurz am Hafen vorbei und mit Betreten des Schiffes sind wir aus Japan ausgereist 🙄.
      Am Abend genießen wir noch die Abba-Show, mehr geht nicht. Urlaub ist ganz schön anstrengend 😉.      Lue lisää

      Hakata (Fukuoka)

      A calm day at sea provides relaxation and recovery after an intense schedule of ports in Tokyo and Kobe. The Seto Inland Sea is sheltered from ocean swells, so the only movement is when we are dodging local fisherman. We take on a pilot at 10:45 to help navigate the high currents and winding course through Kanmon Strait. This significant transportation corridor, which connects to the Sea of Japan, is a narrow separation between the main islands of Honshu and Kyushu. I enjoy a fabulous traditional Hakata meal with friends and observing of Doll’s Day (Hinamatsuri) decorations still out from March 3. Back on the ship, Jorge caught the plaque ceremony since this is also the maiden port call for Zuiderdam in Fukuoka.Lue lisää

      Nach einer gemütlichen Nachtüberfahrt auf der Fähre erreichen wir zum Morgengrauen Fukuoka ⛴️. Die einfache Kabine (Matratzen am Boden) teilen wir mit den einzigen weiteren westlichen Touristen auf dem Schiff, einem französischem Pärchen. Fukuoka gilt auch als Hauptstadt des Essens in Japan, besonders Ramen, die Nudelsuppe, wird hier in diversen Variationen geschätzt und gerne gekocht. Das probieren wir natürlich aus und die erfahrene und leidenschaftliche Gastro-Kritikerin Patty sucht uns die Ramen-Restaurant-Kette Nummer 1 des Landes raus 👌😁. Geschmacklich einwandfrei, aber das Konzept des Restaurants sagt uns nicht ganz so zu. Beim Essen starrt man hier nämlich an eine Wand und links und rechts sind auch kleine Wände, alles sehr unpersönlich. Konversationen mit dem Nachbarn sind nicht erwünscht. Man ist hier zum Essen und dies soll anscheinend möglichst rasch geschehen. Geselliger geht es beim Abendessen zu und her. Entlang des Flussufers im Zentrum gibt es diverse Foodstände wo man sich durch die lokale Küche probieren kann, was wir gerne tun. Es wird aber nicht nur gegessen in Fukuoka, wir schauen uns auch einige Tempel, Schreine und Parks an, davon gibt es hier nämlich zur Genüge.Lue lisää
