      Another stunning weather day, spent the day in the surroundings of the campsite doing necessary chores like laundry, planning, eating and feeding the friendly ducks. The campsite covers 100's of acres with most being forest and scrubland. Started with a game of Pétanque (L1:J0) before moving on to 18 holes of NZ outback golf (L0:J1, overall tie). Ended the afternoon with a swim in the sea and a BBQ dinner with a glass of wine. Once it was dark we went out with the head torch to find the trail that takes you to the glow worms. Didn't think we'd see much but how mistaken we were. There were loads of worms in the top soil that were exposed along the muddy bank which glowed green at one end. It was like looking up at the stars there were that many. They are quite clever as they have sticy 'strings' that hang from them to catch their prey once they have been lured by the bright light. Not the most adventurous day, but very enjoyable nevertheless.Læs mere

      Weather back to being really hot in the sun with the wind backing off at night... All this meant it was perfect weather to go on the giant trampoline and have a game of crazy golf - it would be rude not to! Moving up the coast we stopped near Rabbit Island and had fish and chips for lunch (they were delicious and we aren't big fish eaters) although we had to ask for vinegar as it must be a British thing. Travelling through fruit growing territory so had to stop off and buy avocados and apples from a roadside stall, both much cheaper than the shop prices. Hope they taste as good as the Sicilian lemons we bought from outside someones house the other day. Stopped off at another beach and had fun building stuff with pebbles and tried to improve the skimming technique further after Tom's advice. School report reads, keep trying!Læs mere

      Det storregnede hele natten og formiddagen. Vi sad i fællesrummet og legede med LEGO.
      Tog en tur ned til stranden og bestilte en tur til næste dag. Spiste fish and Chips
      Kørte tilbage til campister og prøvede Water slide.
      Lisa og Pam kom forbi mens drengene sad og så Gru 2 i kirkesalen.

      Kaiteriteri Waka tour

      שלום לכל הקוראים מהעתיד, הקרוב והרחוק.
      היום בבוקר קמנו וכולנו היינו נרגשים לקראת הפעילות היומית, שייט ב Waka. Waka זו ספינה מאורית בעלת שני גופים דמויי קנו המחוברים בשתי קשתות עשויות עץ. המדריך שלנו, תומס, הסביר לנו על התרבות, השפה והתפילות של המאורים. במהלך השייט תומס סיפר לנו סיפורים על האיים והחופים שראינו בדרך, ולימד אותנו את קריאות הקרב המסורתיות שנקראות Haka. קריאות הקרב ממלאות את הלוחמים והלוחמות באנרגיה ומפחידות את האויבים, אנחנו סיפקנו מראה משעשע לתיירים בספינה לידנו.
      בקצה המסלול הגענו לsplit apple rock או בעברית אבן התפוח המפוצל (כן כן זה שראינו שלשום) ואז עצרנו באחד החופים בסביבה לחטיפי פירות מיובשים ומיץ kawakawa התוסס במקצת. את עלי הkawa כבר פגשנו בטיול וקיווי (בחור מקומי) הסביר לנו על כל המעלות של הצמח המופלא הזה. זה כולל ריפוי כאבי בטן, פתרון לעצירות, פתרון לאקזמה בעור, מרחיק את ה sand fly ועוד כל מיני קסמים. אנו שוקלים לייבא אותו לארץ 😀. משם חזרנו בחתירה מתואמת חלקית אבל בקצב כפול מההלוך והגענו חזרה לחוף מבטחים. לסיכום נהננו ולמדנו המון על המאורים, בעיקר שהם אנשים מאוד נחמדים ורוחניים.
      שם המקום בו אנו נמצאים נקרא kaiteriteri, מסתבר שזו שגיאה השתרשה עם השנים.
      השם המקורי הוא Kaiteretere, שהמשמעות שלו לאכול מהר מהר. זה מסיפור על ראש השבט שראה מרחוק אויבים ואמר ללוחמים שלו לאכול מהר מהר כדי לצאת לקרב.
      למדנו בשפה המאורית הדרך להביע רבים או להדגיש זה על ידי חזרה על המילה האחרונה, לכן שמות רבים בו הם עם חזרה על ההברה או מספר הברות אחרונות.

      Wassertaxi

      Mit dem Wassertaxi geht es für uns zum Medlans Beach wo wir unseren Tages Abel Tasman Track beginnen.
      Ich weiß gar nicht ob ich erzählt hatte, das wir das überhaupt machen wollten. Bzw eigentlich am 27. Dezember – nun aber eben am 22.Dezember. Was wahrscheinlich die beschis****** Idee war, die wir überhaupt hier hatten. Um etwas schneller reisen zu können, fand der Track nun eben am Donnerstag statt. Juhu! Denn das Wetter wusste genau, dass wir die letzten Tage viel Glück hatten und auch bei Kepler Track nicht wirklich Regen abbekommen haben. Also war dieser Tag unser Glückstag. Mit dem Boot am Bark Bay angekommen hatten wir gute Laune, das Wetter war zwar schon da nicht mehr das Beste. Aber was kann es besseres geben als einen Track zu machen, bei dem man nicht 10 Kilo Gepäck mit sich rum trägt – sondern nur einen Tagesrucksack.Læs mere

      Die Jungs empfehlen Abel Tasman als nächstes Ziel. Das hatte ihnen besonders gut gefallen. Ala Backpacker haben sie die Möglichkeit mit einer Circle line Neuseeland zu entdecken.
