      Chinchero Market

      Marianela took us to the Sunday market with her daughter, Emilia. She brought potatoes to trade with women who had driven 6 hours from the jungle (they had fruits). It was a lot of fun, clean and beautiful. Emilia is not yet 4, but her mom sent her off to buy another bag to carry more produce, and she also sent her off to buy some yogurt. It was impressive and adorable! She also paid for the medicinal grass her mom bought. This isn't the biggest market we've been to, but it's the one I enjoyed the most (because it was great to go with the family!).Read more

      Day 25/78 from Cusco ins heilige Tal

      At 9 am we left Cusco with our guide and our driver . We are happy with our individual tour, everything is perfect organised

      Todays destination is the village of urubamba..this is the outgoing station to Mach Picchu.

      What did we see on the way to it?

      At first we stopped at a place, were we saw the terraces of the Inca to do the agriculture. It is amazing their perfection in all thins of life.

      We made a stop with a nice view down to secret Valley.
      Next stop is amazing:

      In a very sheltered place the Inkas made an agricultural test station, adepting plants and fruits used to the climate of Amazonas forests
      To the clima of 3000 m and more of altitude .
      The last stop was a salt factory.
      Out of a mountain comes salty water. It is lead into basins. After filling up about 6 cm, the water flow is stopped, the sun dries the basin and pure salt is left, this proceeded several weeks till the us 30 cm of salt to be harvested.

      Secret valley or holy valley in Spanish. Why this name?
      Nothing to do with any god.
      No the secret of The Valley are 3 god given components.
      The whole valley is covered by high mountains againsedu wind

      The is water by the urubamba river

      There is best soil allowing three harvests a year
      First vegetable
      Than Mais
      At least wheat

      We stay in the hotel tambo del Inka, a first class hotel , which does not really fit in the sourrounding, but nice.

      Salineras de Maras, Moray, Chinch. Ruins

      Jose the taxi driver gave us a great deal (cheap!) and drove us to the Maras Salt Mines and the archaeological site at Moray (and agreed to wait in the car for up to an hour at each). He definitely took "the back way", which meant DIRT roads full of rocks. But I appreciated that he went along with my "despacio" request (most drivers are into going rapido). Dust was flying up through the floorboards, and I wondered if his car could take/make it. I have to admit a thought about Tuco's place from Breaking Bad did cross my mind. Middle of freaking nowhere, and no idea what we'd have done if the car broke down (or apart). But luckily it DID make it and we had a great day and a nice chat with Jose. Thank you Jose!

      The Salineras de Maras is made up of more than 3 thousand natural salt wells near the town of Maras. Each of the wells has a dimension of 5 square meters. The 3,000 pools are fed by an underground hypersaline spring that originated 110 million years ago during the formation of the Andes Mountains. It was cool to watch a family excavating theirs. The salt is sold everywhere - some of it is pink.

      The Moray Incan ruins looks like a Roman amphitheater with it's bowl-shape and concentric terraces. It is thought that this was an agricultural laboratory used by the Incans.      Read more

      Urubamba, nicht weit vom Machu Picchu

      Unsere Spannung stieg, weil wir heute unser Hotel in Cusco für 2 Tage verließen, die Abenteurer pur versprachen. Deshalb starteten wir mit einem vollgepackten Rucksack 🎒 mit dem Wichtigsten für den Inka - Trail.

      Der 1. Stopp führte uns zu einer typisch peruanischen Alpaka - Lama- Wollverarbeitung. Wir hatten zwar schon ausreichend Gelegenheit, die wunderschönen bunten Tücher, Mützen und Poncho‘s zu bestaunen, aber als wir sehr professionell in die Arbeitstechnik eingeführt wurden, wurde uns erst so richtig bewusst, wie aufwendig und trotzdem sehr liebevoll jedes Stück angefertigt wurde. Noch heute wird die Wolle 🧶 per Hand gewaschen 🧼 und nach dem Trocknen gefärbt. Die strahlenden Farben werden aus reinen Naturprodukten hergestellt. Dieses Wissen veränderte unsere Sichtweise auf die vielen Stände am Straßenrand.

      Der 2. Stopp brachte uns zu den Salzterrassen nach Maras. Das sind ca. 3000 Salzbecken. Die Salzgewinnung ist schon aus Inkazeiten bekannt und bis heute noch in Betrieb. Marassalz ist inzwischen ein beliebter Exportschlager Perus. Wir werden das Salz aus Maras nach Deutschland importieren. 😊

      Der letzte Stopp führte uns zur Inkaanlage Moray. Bis heute ist man sich nicht sicher, ob die Terrassen lediglich zum Anbau genutzt wurden oder ob sie als Versuchsfeld für den Anbau verschiedener Früchte gedacht war.

      Auch heute waren die Eindrücke hoch interessant. Mit Vorfreude auf den kommenden Tag gingen wir früh ins Bett. 😴      Read more

      Derrapes en Cusco y visita a Chinchero🧣

      Este ha sido el viaje más largo de autobús pero por suerte ya el último 🤙🏼 Llegamos a Cusco a las 7:30h y teníamos un tour a las 7:50h. Contactamos rápidamente con los guías del tour y, atención, nos ponen un coche privado para que nos recoja en nuestro hotel justo después de dejar las maletas y llevarnos al punto de encuentro del grupo. Justo como nos merecemos 💅🏼

      Conseguimos llegar a toda pastilla en el Uber, dejar las cosas rápidamente en el hotel, más bien las "dejamos caer" en la recepción 😂 y nos vamos in extremis al tour en nuestro taxi privado #BeyonceVibes

      Tras el café reglamentario, nos reunimos con el grupo en el que el guía les pregunta a unos mexicanos hace cuánto tiempo que están en Cusco y parece que han llegado hace varios días a la ciudad para habituarse a la altura. Cuando el guía nos hace la pregunta a nosotros, respondemos que hemos llegado hace una media hora y todos se ríen 🤣🤣🤣

      Nuestra primera parada es Chinchero, un pueblo en el que siguen haciendo uso de las técnicas de tejido incas y preincas. Unas chicas nos explican el proceso de limpieza, coloración y tejido de la lana de Alpaca y después vamos a ver la tienda, en la que Violeta compra una pequeña figura con lana de alpaca bebé 😊🦙      Read more

      Inzwischen steht fest, dass wir in den kommenden Tagen zwei große Wanderung machen werden, auf die wir schon sehr brennen. Bevor es damit los geht, machen wir aber noch einen kurzen Ausflug nach Chinchero. Der Ort ist neben seinen Inca-Ruinen auch für diverse Produkte aus Alpakawolle bekannt. Wir schauen uns die Ruinen an und schlendern etwas durch die Gassen.Read more

      Chinchero & Pisac

      Po snídani jsme dobalili poslední věci a šli na desátou na domluvené místo, odkud nás měl vyzvednout řidič a odvézt nás přes Chinchero do města Pisac.

      Nasedli jsme do auta a nejdříve jsme jeli k archeologickému nalezišti. Normálně bychom tam asi nešli, ale máme desetidenní vstupenku na různé naleziště a muzea, a tak jsme toho využili.

      Ruiny samy o sobě nebyly tak zajímavé, na jedné z teras ale seděla babička a pletla stužky. Ukázala nám, jak probíhá celý proces a my se po pár minutách rozloučili.

      Vrátili jsme se zpět k autu a jeli do muzea textilií. Město Chinchero je právě známé kvůli spoustě místních, kteří tradičním způsobem pletou různé produkty z ovčí vlny a nebo vlny z alpaky. Sami si přírodním způsobem barví vlákno. Ukázali nám všechny potřebné kroky až ke pletení.

      Kolem jedné jsme měli vše v Chincheru hotové a mohli jsme jet dál do Pisacu. Po cestě jsme ještě rychle zastavili na oběd a já konečně ochutnal jedno z nejtypičtějších peruánských jídel - chicharrón. Je to vlastně pečenej bůček a k tomu nějaká příloha. Chutnalo skvěle a my po krátké pauze pokračovali dál.

      V Pisacu jsme akorát vyskočili z auta a šli se ubytovat. Jen jsme vybalili, dali si večeři a šli na hostel si lehnout.      Read more

      Vallée sacrée : sur les traces des Incas

      Cusco ayant été la capitale des Incas, la région regorge de sites archéologiques, ici appelée la Vallée Sacrée. Nous avons décidé d'en faire le tour (en tous cas, une partie) aujourd'hui.

      Hier, sur Facebook, nous avons sympathisé avec 3 Françaises, qui avaient le même projet que nous. Nous avons donc réservé un taxi privé pour la journée.

      Petite mésaventure du matin : Chloé, Jeanne et Mélissa - nos covoyageuses - ont un gros sac. Quiproquo : elles restent dormir à Ollantaytambo, la dernière étape de la journée. Nous ne l'avions pas compris et n'avons pas d'affaires. Tant pis, on se débrouillera sans pour une nuit !

      Nous partons donc vers notre première étape : Chinchero. Il s'agit d'un village réputé pour ses textiles 👕. Nous commençons d'ailleurs notre visite par le marché artisanal, où la cheffe de la communauté nous explique comment ils fabriquent leur textile manuellement, et avec des colorants naturels 🧶.
      Nous découvrons ensuite les ruines des bâtiments Incas. C'est ici que l'empereur et la noblesse venaient se reposer.

      Nous reprenons la route, vers les salineras de Maras. Il s'agit de marais salants 🧂, perdus au milieu des montagnes. C'est surprenant de découvrir ces carrés blancs ici ⛰️ !

      Nous découvrons ensuite le site de Moray, où nous admirons de grands cercles de terrasses d'agriculture. Vu du dessus, c'est magnifique ! Il s'agissait en fait d'expérimentation d'agriculture 🌾, qui permettait aux Incas de tester les rendements selon l'altitude.

      Enfin, nous arrivons à Ollantaytambo, dernière étape de la journée. Le village est réputé pour avoir conservé sa structure du temps des Incas.
      Avant le coucher du soleil 🌄, nous visitons les ruines, grand village Inca d'où l'on distingue la zone militaire, les fontaines, et la zone religieuse avec notamment son temple du soleil ☀️.

      Le soir, nous mangeons avec Chloé, Jeanne et Mélissa et passons la nuit dans le même hôtel qu'elles, sans brosse à dents et sans pyjama.      Read more

      Valle sagrado

      Organisierte Bustour, Abholung um 06:30 Uhr.
      Der Guide ist mir unsympatisch. Machte gerne Zeitstress, war aber selbst unpünktlich. Wollte als Bayern München Fan punkten
      6 Orte, als erstes eine Verkaufsveranstaltung für handgemachtes und Andenken in Chinchero. Ein Vortrag darüber wie viel Arbeit und wie wenig Geld die Frauen dafür bekommen. Baby auf dem Rücken, Fotoalpaka dabei. Ein schlechtes Gewissen, wer nichts kauft ?
      Dann in Chinchero Inka Terrassen. Viele Verkaufsstände auf dem Weg dorthin.
      In Moray das Inka Kartoffellabor von oberhalb angesehen.
      Salzverkauf und Schokolade.
      Salzterrassen von Marras von oberhalb angesehen.
      Auf der Fahrt zum Essen Werbung für Anislikör im Bus, war lecker.
      Das Essen war ok.
      Ollaytsntambo ? Eine sehr große Anlage und noch mehr Touristen und Shops.

      Fahrt im großen Mercedes Sprinter, ca. 1/3 Chinesen aus Kanada. Ein paar Peruaner.

      Les Incas étaient passionnés par l'astronomie. 

      Leurs constellations étaient différentes des nôtres. Elles étaient faites de nébuleuses et non d'étoiles. Elles avaient des noms comme le lama, le serpent...

      Ils observaient les éclipses en étudiant le reflet du soleil dans l'eau. Ils faisaient des grandes fêtes au moment des équinoxes et des solstices.
