      Heute erst um 8 Uhr los, war ja alles so nass, aber es hat nicht geregnet in der Früh. Es war heut auch den ganzen Vormittag trüb und nebelig, aber zum Gehen ideal.Erst um 11 Uhr stach die Sonne für 30min voll und dann wieder Nieseln. Und wie soll's anders sein, wir sahen schon die schwarzen Wolken immer näher kommen, die Tropfen würden grösser und hier fährt kein Taxi zum Aufhalten.Also schnelleren Schrittes voran, bis wir ein Bushütterl in Baamonde erreichten zum Unterstehen und liefen dabei sogar an der Herberge vorbei. Ich sag euch diese Stadt ist genauso grausig, wie gestern Vilalbe. Aber wir müssen hier bleiben, denn wir müssen f.heute und morgen Essen kaufen, es gibt sonst keine Möglichkeit bis übermorgen.
      Das einzig Schöne heute in Baamonde, ist ein uralter Kastanienbaum, der v.einem Künstler vor dem Fällen gerettet wurde, indem er sich in dem Höhlen Baumstumpf einschloss und ein Marienbildnis in den Stamm innen schnitzte.
      Bei den Friedhöfen hier in Galicien, sehr ihr eine Unmenge an Steinkreuzen, das rührt v.keltischen Einfluss her und die Angst vor dem Bösen.
      Hier sind auch alle Grundstücke mit Granit- bzw.Schieferplatten eingezäunt und man sieht nur noch wenige Eukalyptusbäume.      Leggi altro

      30. Etappe: Vilalba - Baamonde

      Die Nacht war besser als erwartet. Die zwei Schnarcher (von insgesamt 4 Personen im Zimmer) konnte ich einigermaßen ausblenden und nachdem dann endlich um 22 Uhr Ruhe in der Küche war, bin ich raus, habe dort das Fenster geöffnet und dann unser Fenster, das direkt in die Küche statt nach draußen ging, geöffnet. Beknackte Konstruktion, aber was soll man machen 🤷‍♀️ Dann nervte nur noch eine Mücke, die ich aber mit Autan (damit hat sich auch das Mitschleppen des Autans gelohnt) abwimmeln konnte.
      Der Weg hierher war okay. Keine besonderen Vorkommnisse. Die riesengroße Herberge ist deutlich besser als ich erwartet habe. Heute bin ich zum ersten Mal näher mit Gitte aus DK ins Gespräch gekommen; zunächst auf dem Weg und dann in der Herberge und in der Bar. Wir waren die ersten in der Herberge und konnten uns die besten Plätze aussuchen 😀
      Vorhin liefen uns dann auch noch Jana (Bonn) und Martin (Krücke) über den Weg. Witzig, heute morgen noch habe ich daran gedacht, wann ich die beiden das letzte Mal gesehen habe. Naja und Charlie treffe ich ja neuerdings fast täglich. Ach ja, Daniela habe ich heute auch wieder überholt. Jeden Tag wieder spannend, wen man so trifft 😀      Leggi altro

      We sleep in this morning, this will be our last sleep in on this Camino, we have under 20 km so we aren't in a rush. We get ready and head off, we have the choice of two different routes to get to Miraz today and we choose the complementary, we is a little longer but on more dirt paths.       138. Etappe: Baamonde

      Yeah! Endlich wieder Pilgergesellschaft! 🎉🎉
      Die werde ich aber wohl noch bis Santiago an der Backe haben ... hmmm! 🤔😂
      Ratzefatze waren die heutigen 20 km zum Aufwärmen vorbei. Bestes Wanderwetter bei 10 Grad erwartete uns bis Baamonde. Die heutige Herberge ist einfach, die Duschen nur für Hartgesottene - wie uns - draußen! Genau das Richtige, um das Immunsytem auf die Probe zu stellen. In der Herberge ist es zum Glück mollig warm und da wir bisher die einzigen Pilger hier sind, haben wir uns natürlich das Zimmer mit Heizung gesichert. Zum Abendessen gehts heut wieder in eine Bar, denn um die Küche der Herberge zu nutzen, müssten wir uns erst mal Töpfe und Geschirr kaufen 😅Leggi altro

      Unglaublich Tag 33...so lange bin ich schon unterwegs 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
      Ein Wandertag wie im Bilderbuch ☀️kleine Anhöhen und viele schnuckelige kleine Dörfer in schönster Natur. Heute waren sehr viele schöne zufriedenstellende Gedanken über Veränderungen da! Es wird sich vieles Ändern☀️das Leben ist so bunt wie wirres uns machen und ich möchte es kunterbunt und voller Liebe ❤️Leggi altro

      Nach der Nacht in der eingeschlossenen Herberge, gibts Kaffee und frisch gepressten OSaft. Immerhin. Los geht's auf den Camino. Wieder einmal so um die 20km. Ein Klacks. Gemütlich traben wir dahin, treffen Storch und Pferd und freuen uns auf ein kühles cerveza con Limon. Wir enden in Baarmonde, kurz vor dem Nichts. Noch 100km....Leggi altro

      Unbelievable but true, Santiago is now only 100 km away! I want to be there on monday, so 4 more days of walking. Yesterday, I walked from Castromaior to Vilalba, which wasn't a very long walk, about 13 km..... Great for my feet!

      But ever since I have turned land inward towards Santiago I have been having mixed feelings. The question, should I continue or not keeps popping in my head......
      I keep thinking, maybe I should use the time I have left in Spain to go to the coast, which I love so much....

      However, now that I have hit the 100 KM mark, I have made up my mind. I will make it to Santiago, and I want to get there on monday.
      That means I will have to walk 25 km the coming 4 days! Gaat helemaal lukken 😂

      I loved today's walk! Again in doubt, I started walking, the trail was really nice and all of a sudden we walked by a house and a doggy was sitting outside... And when I passed she came running to me tail wagging..... So cute, she wanted me to pet her, so ofcourse I did 😁.

      After that another dog, and another...... The first dog just made my day, soooo cute.....
      Hmmm, I think I miss my pets 😂😂😂.

      I am now in Baamonde, in an albergue that has beds for +90 pilgrims. I think we are about 40 and tonight is an ear plug night for sure. I guess, I will have to get used to it, because the last 2 days of my camino will be on the camino frances, which is much busier than the one I am on (+500 pilgrims a day).      Leggi altro

      Gontan to Baamonde
      Distance 41km (9 hours)
      Total ascent 320m

      Andrea, my Italian friend, was suffering from tendinitis and initially planned to take a day off. Claudia, my German peregrino, set off early this morning.
      I set off from the Albergue at 5.45am alone. It was pitch black. It was easy to follow the Camino signs and very quickly I was into the countryside and sunken lanes. I had to use my head torch a few times in woods but otherwise just relied on my night vision.
      Dawn came a few hours later. It was cool and very pleasant walking. I eventually switched on my iPod and rocked away the kilometers. I walked 2km with a Spanish guy who was out for a short walk. We conversed in Spanish. I was delighted that he spoke slowly so I could understand him and I could reply. He was puffing by the time I left him. I passed Claudia and carried on alone. At 9.30am, I stopped for some breakfast of bread and chorizo.
      The day was warming up quickly. I got to the city of Vilalba at 10am and stopped for breakfast. I waited for Claudia to catch up so we could walk the next 20kms together.
      Vilalba was not a particularly inspiring city so we passed through it quickly.
      Walking in Galicia is wonderful. The Camino winds its way through quiet roads/lanes and paths. They are very well marked and maintained. The only problem is the lack of water sources so you have to carry a lot of water.
      We stopped several times for breaks. One of the highlights was seeing huge storks flying over our heads.
      The heat built up so that the road was red hot. The Tarmac was bubbling up. We arrived at our Albergue exhausted but delighted that we had walked 41kms.

      I am 100kms from Santiago!

      Today has been one of those low days. First the three German boys in my lovely albergue room got up at 5. I couldn't go back to sleep so at 5:45 I got up, made some coffee and was walking by 6:45. It was actually not a bad start time since I had 35 km to go today. Not much elevation, so I thought I'd be fine. But by the time I got here, I was dragging.

      Leaving the lovely Albergue, I turned the corner to find that what had clearly once been a narrow grassy green tunnel had been bulldozed and filled with crushed rock. Gripe#1. Then a few hours later I arrived in Vilalba, a little less than halfway. It is an UGLY town. Gripe# 2. The guy at my coffee stop put fake crab, melted cheese, and ham in my tortilla sandwich. Gripe#3. From there, it was 18 more km with a lot of asphalt and sun, and nowhere to rest. Gripe#4. Then I told myself to stop griping and enjoy the day. And there were some gorgeous chestnut trees, one of which had a little plaque saying it was 700 years old!

      Finally, on the outskirts of town, a Spanish couple passed me and seemed pretty unfriendly. A Portuguese couple came up (you can see I am dragging if everyone is passing me) and I walked with them into the Albergue and the explosion started. The Portuguese guy took one look at the unfriendly Spanish lady and started cursing her out. There must have been a big conflict of some sort that triggered his outburst. It was a bit tense but luckily the woman checking all of us in put them at opposite ends of the Albergue.

      All in all it was not a 5***** day but that happens. I also think my body is running out of gas slowly. But after a shower and the therapeutic hand washing of clothes, all seemed much better. And imagine my delight when I learned that in the bunk next to me is my Australian friend Ann. We had split up a few days ago when she had foot problems. She is walking again and is feeling good.      Leggi altro

      Kilometerstein bei 100km. Wer ab hier läuft, bekommt in SdC seine Compostela.
      Deshalb sind auch so viele Leute hier. Sie fahren mit dem Zug bis hierher und laufen von hier aus. Sind jede Menge von den scheiß Franzosen hier.Leggi altro
