    Portland Head Lighthouse

    September 10, 2019 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

On our last trip, the weather was rainy, windy and moody. Today we enjoyed the lighthouse in a crisp, sunny day. Both were wonderful.

Portland Head Light, is a historic lighthouse in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. The light station sits on a head of land at the entrance of the primary shipping channel into Portland Harbor, which is within Casco Bay in the Gulf of Maine. Completed in 1791, it is the oldest lighthouse in the state of Maine.Read more

    Headlights (Portland)

    August 12, 2018 in the United States ⋅ 🌧 19 °C

    Portland Head Lighthouse

    September 2, 2019 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

We headed to the Portland Head Lighthouse. We enjoyed our first look, but of course as soon as Talon could he was finding a way down. Most of us followed and spent a good hour playing on the rocks. I also looked out at the rocks and thought once again about how important these lighthouses are.Read more

    Portland Head Lighthouse

    September 2, 2019 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

After checking around the top and following Talon to the bottom, we walked among the rocks. It was so amazing how much like wood that the granite looked. Sometimes you had to pick it up to tell the difference. Then all the pyrite in it, you had to busy it open. We eventually made our way to the top again before going to check out the rest of the park.

*If you look close at the last picture, you can see another lighthouse in the background. Supposedly you can see 4 lighthouses from this one, buuutt, I forgot to check...

    Fort Williams

    September 2, 2019 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

After looking at the abandoned Fort on both sides, looking at more wood looking rocks and making everyone wait on us, we checked out an abandoned powerhouse. It supplied power to the fort, but was set 1/4 mile inland to keep it safe. As we climbed on top of the building and walked around we could see blacktop near the roof. It looked like it used to be a parking lot or something but we were too hungry to spend too much time solving the puzzle. Mystery parking lot if anyone wants to solve it... Talon took a sweet pic of us. (I think Doug looks 20 in this pic) We were sitting on a cool tree.Read more
