An overnight flight landed in Iceland and then hopped over to Paris. Good flights. Then took the train into the city and got situated in Paris with my family. So far, Eiffel Tower, Montmatre, Sacre Coeur, a fun Kaberet Berliner show with my cousin playing piano in a rented Swingers club(how very Paris!)- and today was Musee de Orsay for impressionists and beautiful views of the city from the clock window. The walk there skirts the park looking at Arc de Triomphe one way and the Louve another way. The Louve will be Friday but tomorrow is Chateau de Versailles with friends from east Coast. 50 is great!Leggi altro

Paris to Chamonix- run and jump!

Took the train from Paris to Geneva. Landed in Swiss Geneva train station and walked through to the other side- France again. Amazing. Dropped off my bag in Switzerland to be shipped to my hotel in Zermatt and went to France to get my transport to Chamonix. While touristy, Chamonix has a lot to offer! I went up in a ski gondola 🚠 and ran and jumped! The video is at the end just for Nicole and Linet! Whalah! And then I walked the town and came back for a midday meal and more map and planning time for my trip. Getting ready!Leggi altro

I’ve been researching this trip with Mount Blanc peeking through lively dancing clouds. Just got word last night that there is a landslide on one part so I will have to take an alternative route. This is the famous ladder section. Climbs straight up- now I will have to climb boulders up a mountain. Should be interesting. I’m the meantime- relaxing and trying to shed weight. Definitely hiking in the Alps

Today was the best weather day- woke up to clear view of all the mountains. Hiking was amazing and even had some entertainment during lunch at Lac Blanc.

Well, this is different! I passed the campground in Lac de Champex and felt guilty- but only for a bit. Pure luxury after some pleasant hiking. Spa, walk around lake and amazing 9 course meal with local wine. Wow!Leggi altro

Viaggiatore Yes! I took a picture of each course and they were all beautiful! I had two spa days so far! Now I go in the mountains and sleep in the huts for 2 nights. Quite different!

I haven’t had much service in the mountains. It’s been great! There is a lot I haven’t posted so I will dump some things here. So- Chamonix to Forclaz to Lac Champex, Lac Champex to Verbier, Verbier to Lac/Cabane Louvie, Cabane Louvie to Cabane Preflurie. Today was the most challenging after 3 cols( 9200 ft)- but tomorrow should be another challenging day. So far so good!Leggi altro

So much beauty!

So I made it out of the mountains and into a small mountain village where I stay tonight. I went to the market and it was pretty sparse. I bought fresh farm carrots and a local beer. Seems like the right thing to do. Like I said- very small mountain village where all I hear is cow bells. It was definitely a bit of a more challenging hike today. I’m feeling it! Luckily tomorrow is a mellow day comparatively. I’m glad I brought my comfy shoes for non technical days. Saw amazing beauty today- glaciers and wildflowers were highlights.Leggi altro

La Sage, here I come

Well, from Arolla to La Sage through Lac Bleu and Les Hauderes. A mellow day of meandering. La Sage is the next entry point to my next Col climb and to Lac Moiry. My accommodation is quite nice. Wonderful view. They definitely connected me to all the top floor view rooms. This one had a huge bathtub which I quickly tried out. It is super hot today! Check out heat wave in France- luckily elevation is helping me out. Supposed to storm ina couple of days. We’ll see!Leggi altro
