Well last full day in Budapest, we went back to the markets and did our last minute shopping. Them I had to buy a new bag :) We wandered around the shops that hadn't had a chance to see yet, mostly out of our price range but great window shopping. Had a lovely lunch and then back to the hotel for a Nana nap. We went out to a French restaurant for dinner, which was amazing but pricey and then to the hotels rooftop cocktail bar to watch the sunset.Read more
Today we got up around 7.00 and had breakfast in the dining room downstairs. We then walked over to Buda where the palace is and got the Funicular up to the palace. It is like a small city on on top of the hill, we walked from one end to the other. Then we had a coffee and then got the Funicular back down. We then walked back to Pest where the hotel is and had lovely lunch at restaurants near the hotel, I had Hungarian tasting plate which is like ploughmans lunch Hungarian style and Jen had chips. We decided to have a quiet afternoon having a nap and watching TV before going out for dinner at an Italian restaurant just down the road.Read more
We got off the boat at 10.00 and arrived at the Marriott Hotel in Pest around 10.30, for a very short trip it took a long time. We wandered around till, had a great lunch at a burger place and then got an early check in around 1.00. We chilled for a while and then decided to go for another walk and scope out where we would go for dinner. We found the street our guide had shown us the previous day that had great restaurants and then went back with friends later for dinner at a lovely little Bistro.Read more
Today we arrived in Budapest, we had the morning at the local Markets which were amazing. Our tour started at 1.30 and we got to see both sides of the city, Buda & Pest and them we went to a piano recital at the institute for the blind. This was not my sort of music but it is nice that scenic supports the institute. Back on the boat we had a Hungarian folk band and dances, it was very entertaining. Then after dinner we sat on the sundeck as we cruised around Budapest and enjoyed the lights of the city. Tomorrow is an early start as we need to have our bags outside our doors by 8.30 and our shuttle to the hotel is at 10.00.Read more
TravelerNot long till we get you home, enjoy your last few days Ma
Today we chose different tours, Jen went to Palace in Vienna and I did at trip to Bratislava which is the capital of Slovakia. The old town in Bratislava was beautiful, we may have taken a wrong turn in our free time and nearly missed the bus back to the ship. We had lunch when we got back to boat and then took a bus back into Vienna and did our horse drawn carriage ride, which was lovely. Then we had the Captains cocktail party and then a Gala dinner. We are both exhausted and looking forward to a couple of days in Budapest just doing what every we want.Read more
Today we arrived in Vienna, we had a bus tour around Vienna and then we wandered around window shopping. The shops weren't open as it is a Sunday but we will go back into town tomorrow afternoon after our tours, do some shopping and hopefully do a horse drawn carriage ride. Tonight we went to a private concert at Liechtenstein palace and it was truly amazing, we had 2 ballerinas from the Austrian ballet dance to the Blue Danube.Read more
TravelerThe concert sounds amazing! So jealous! Lovely photo of you both in front of the carriage. Xx
We docked in Melk and the tour today was of an Abbey and then a walk through town and then back to the boat. Its seems the sports car are following us, from the Abbey we could see about 20 sports car stopped in the main street, Lamborghinis, Ferraris and Porsches, then they turned around and sped of in the opposite direction. The abbey was beautiful and the video is of the water feature as you walk in. Some crazy people did a 35k bike ride from Melk to Durnstein, we sailed on the boat at 12.30 and docked at Durnstein at 2.30. While we waiting for the bike riders to get to the boat we wandered around the town. It poured rain and we got soaked but we didn't really care, it is the first time it has rained so we have been lucky. We had our invite to the Portabello restaurant tonight, it was a beautiful Italian dinner of 8 courses. Way too much food.Read more
TravelerTrace I'm loving doing the trip again ( virtually) with you. So beautiful 😍
Today was a big day, we had to get a coach to Salzburg which took 2hrs and then I did the Sound of Music tour and Jen did the Mozart tour. We both ditch the tours early and just wandered around the shops, you get a bit over the tours after a while as they are too slow. The shops were amazing and I found some cute little Garden Gnomes in a shop window. We then got back on the coaches to go to the top of Goat Mountain to have a Bavarian lunch and a Sound of Music show. The road to the top of the mountain was closed as they were having sports car rally, so we had a permit to get through and after lunch we got watch the rally finish. The cars were amazing and so was the view from up there, the pictures don't do the veiw justice.Read more
TravelerWow! I love the look of the food, cars, and especially the views! Sounds like Salzburg may have been one of the highlights of the trip so far.
Today was Regensburg, we did a tour of a Palace and the wandered around the town. We had a Bavarian lunch with all the trimmings, the food is amazing but way too much of it.
TravelerI’m putting on weight just looking at all these food pics lol
