    Cairns

    Used Cairns mostly as a base and didn't really got to visit the town. Changed hostels so much and took the opportunity to go diving in the great barrier reef (what a beautiful once in a lifetime experience). On our way back from the diving-snorkeling tour stayed in the waterfront with Cass and enjoyed a beautiful aboriginal art representation that made me drop a few tears. Maybe the city itself wasn't my highlight, but the region, the people and the experiences were indeed absolutely worth a trip.

    📍Essentials: dive in the outer reef (great Barrier Reef)
    🏠 Mumma hostel: nice, clean and chill but only stayed here for a night and didn't get to live the place too much. Good location as well. Also stayed in paradise oasis but there was no breakfast, pretty far from the center and zero social but it was a beautiful space     Czytaj więcej

    Queensland overview 🌄🐊🏃🏽‍♀️

    Organise yourself to go during dry season to avoid the crazy high temperatures, the rain, floads and deadly animals. Inform yourself about the dangerous species such as the cone shell, crocodiles and where they are, sharks (when can you swim), jelly fish, snakes, spiders, toads...

    🤤 Best food:
    1. Pasta nights with the girls
    2. Jay's specials (crocodrile cob loaf, linguini or pulled lamb risotto)
    3. La tabella trattoria (the arancini balls are amazing)

    1. Paddy's (Airlie Beach)

    1. Selina Hostel (absolutely amazing in all ways, so chill and inviting to relax with plenty of cool free activities, nice vibe and beautiful instalations)
    2. Crocodylus (inside of the Daintree, completely minimalistic and pure)
    2. Mumma's Hostel (great location, beautiful and chill)

    📝 Must do:
    1. Sailing boat in the whitsundays (Broomstick)
    2. Diving in the Great Barrier Reef
    3. See wildlife (koalas, cassoaries, crocodriles, sharks...)

    Darwin

    Flew to the highest end on the center (what they call the top end) to begin a van roadrip through the outback with Romina (my closest friend since we met in Hobart). I got there a few days earlier to visit the area and sort out everything that was needed. After the relax and confort in the east, the only hostel of the city was a big ugly party hostel that made me have to escape for as long as I couldn't keep my eyes open from the place. So I went market hopping, walked and walked the city, visited the art gallery and museum of Darwin and some other aboriginal galleries. Darwin was a big shock for me, because it wasn't like the clean and white country that you are sold in the east, Darwin was dirty, with a really high population of aboriginals (living in really bad conditions, lots of drug and alcohol problems, mental diseases, commiting a high rate of crime and homeless). It never felt unsafe (at least to the level of other countries outside of happy-safe australia), but it was sad and indeed gave you a lot to think of. On this visit I also met Liam, a realreal australian guy that liked to haunt crocodiles with who I had lots of fun and he took me to a beautiful lookout of the area of Darwin. After that, got all the preparations ready for what it would be the longest short cut existing! Picked up Romina from the airport, and was ready to set off towards the real australian world, the outback.

    Litchfield National Park

    First stop of our roadtrip: Litchfield National Park. With its beautiful grand waterfalls and lovely treks you could mingle around the area for a week. We went for a sundet hike to greenant water hole (yes, there where plenty of green ants on the way), swam in every waterfall we found

    📍Essentials: Wangi falls and Florence falls are absolutely stunning, greenant trek, termite mounds
    🏠 Accommodation: book in advance one of the campsites of the national park (no connection in the park and closest free campsite is an hour drive away)
    🧐 Some facts: if you lick a greenant's ass (yes, the green butt), it tastes like lemon. There's even a gin they make in North Queensland with greenants infused on it because of their citrus taste.     Czytaj więcej

    Nitmiluk National Park

    Second stop of the trip. Beautiful Nitmiluk National Park (also known as Katherine). We first stopped in Edith Falls and did a small and smooth walk around, had some breakfast in town the next day and did the butterfly loop to visit the gorges. Beautiful deep canyon, but also really hot!

    Mataranka

    The beautiful turquoise water quickly attacks you into these clear hot springs for some hot northern weather. We swam and swam againts the current (always trying to do the opposite as everyone else), Romi fell out of a tree into the river (exacly the same the same thing that had happened to me in Litchfield, yes we need to accept that we are not as stable as the trees we're playing with), walked a bit around, visited the we of the never never (famous australian novel about the aboriginals of the area) and we went on the search fo crocodiles, and we spotted one right under us!! And... crazy thing happened. First Romina bumped into a friend that she had met in the frog (Hobart). And then, minutes later... we bumped into Ricardo and Kayo! This italian guy and japanese girl that we lived with in Hobart as well! Such a magical moment.

    Daily Waters

    Life music, large vafiety of aussie tap beer, lots of random abandoned vehiacles of all kindsz bras and shoes hanging everywhere, and mostly such a good vibe. Came to this town-pub where all roadtrippers stop and had such good fun with all this people that we met, all in different journeys and paths (but all of them, realreal ozs). Sang, danced, shared, laughued (even cried a bit). And the next day... made our way to the next stop not knowing if we'd make it, not only because of pur big hangover, but because there was a bigbig fire in tennants creek that might stop our way and make us change our idea of a trip.

    Devils Marbles

    Drove for 5 hours not knowing if we would be able to pass the city of Tennants Creek and we'd have to go back. Luckily the fire was more controlled when we went through and we managed to continue until Karlu Karlu (Devils Marbles). The rock formations are so refined and neat that it looks like someone put those oval-shaped sandstone there. We went to watch sunset from the lookout and went back to get some food and watch the stars. Next morning I woke up (and Romi tried) to watch the beautiful sunrise and then went for a run around the area.

    Alice Springs

    Everyone warned us of how dangerous this city was. But to be honest, it just felt like another not so pretty city with a high percentage of aboriginals (and its alcohol consequences). We stayed in a nice cozy campsite close to the center, went to an average look out, visited some cute aboriginal art galleries and did some shopping. It was a good stop for a nice warm shower and to get a new phone for me (yeah, they never last).

    MacDonell Ranges

    While visiting one of the galleries, we met a lovely american guy that had been living in Alice Springs for so many years, he recommended us to do this one trek which you had to swim through a river to finish (and there's where he got us). So we drove our way to the end of MacDonell Ranges, stopping in the beautiful Simpson Gap and enjoying the scenic views. Once we arrived to our destination, Ormiston Gorge, we set camp and went for our hike, which was absolutely stunning and yeah, we had to swim to finish. There were a lot of sand flies so we had pur first experience with what I call the condoms, and yes I laugh at everyone that wears them, so we could protect our selves from the thirsty flies that fly around you in hundreds and try to drink the water from your eyes (welcome to the desert friends). Had an uno game before setting to bed and next day woke up for sunrise of the ranges (you can also see that I've been depriving Romina her sleep), and drove to visit some other spots of the ranges such as the ochre pits and Stanley Chasms. This national park is, without a doubt, absolutely stunning. From there, drove as far as we could so we could set base close to our next destination, the red center.

    Kings Canyon

    Drove to the deep red canyon and bumped into some cammels for Romina's happiness. We hike, absolutely stunning, not too challenging and always walking on topnof the canyon so you had views from the landscape, the inside of the canyon and the other sides of the deep rock formation. Such an enjoyable day in such a special and peaceful spot. Qick tip, everyone recommended us to start really early because of the heat, the hike is not as tough as they say so if you start a bit later you skip all the crowds slightly.

    Uluru

    When I was 13 I wrote down on my budget list: watch sunrise from uluru. And clearly, I had no idea what that meant and I had to google it. Somehow it felt so magical to keep showing my kid self of how capable I was of turning all her dreams true and how brave and alive I was. Just on the drive you pass McConnor (Rominancalls it fuluru because it fools you making you believe you are seeing Uluru already), all surrounded by deep red sand. It was already magical. Watched sunset from a cute viewpoint from where we could see Kata Tjuta and stayed in a reallyreally expensive campsite (but guess whatz it was the only one in town). Walked arpund Uluru and joined a super interesting walk about the culture, tradition and history of the site. Later on did so many talks about the bushfood of the area, the tools, the plants, the cooking, even a didgeridoo workshop and an strology movie, and visited a few galleies. Yulara, the town where Uluru is located was so so touristy, but at the same time we made the most of it. Also did the typical sunrise from Uluru (pretty confusing though cause you really dont see it from there so I was so disappointed), and had to run away from crazy William, random japanese guy that kept finding us with sososo much energy.

    🔎Some facts: girls can't play didgeridoos because its against their culture (the story I got its that some dude from a tribe got all the ladies pregnant and then they cut his penis and turned it into the instrument, so if a girl plays it she'll get pregnant from him as well). Such a pity. Also didgeridoos are only from a certain small part of the northern territory, not all Australia. And they are used to invoque the spirits.

    Coober Pedy ⛏️

    Deep desert in our first stop in south australia. Coober Peddy is an interesting mining town full of interesting scrap every side of the road and underground homes, churches and museums. It was really really hot in here, lots of sand flies, and as dry as you could imagine with no water supplies. But it had its charm. We went for a quick visit to the opal museum, an art gallery, an underground serbian church visited the interesting croc harry home , a bizarre cave full of weird furniture, art and woman's underwear. We also went for an opal hunt in the area, and Romingot some opal! Then before setting off stopped for some waffles from a lovely funny scottish old men. And began our trip back to society.

    Bumbunga Lake

    Driving in south australia was a bit less fun because the speed limit was a bit lower and there were more cars on the road. Still stopped in a cute little town called crystal creek, had a lovely sweet breakfast and went down through bumbunga lake, a pink lake created from the combination of salt, seaweed and bacteria , towards the wine region near Adelaide.

    Barrossa Valley

    Plan of the day was to go to as many wine tastings of the region as we could in a day. Reality, we went to the first one, had such a blast that left with two bottles on wine and left the day as it was. We went to this cute small winery where we got attended by this lovely guy with whom we exchanged so many travelling tips and ideas (he pretty much built the rest of our trip in the south). After that we drove through Adelaide hills to find somewhere to spend the night, and suffered the cold weather outside and the hard cooking conditions (Romi was a bit upset cause she couldn't manage to make a nice fried rice because the pot wouldn't heat enough because of the wind).

    Fleurieu Peninsula

    Followed our wine tasting tour guide directions and drove to the coast of the McLaren Vale. We drove from Second Valley, to Rapid Bay and spent the night in Deep Creek, surrounded by kangaroos and beautiful fields. At night we made a fire (fun moment of the day) and enjoyed the warmth of our home bushfire. Next day, failed to go on the hike we were planning to because we needed a rest day to just write in our notebooks and enjoy some peace and quiet.

    Adelaide, 4500 km later

    Last stop of our scoobydoo roadtrip across Australia. The feeling was such fulfilment and pride. We had driven across Australia, from top to bottom on a rusty van, just ourselves, and proved our self determination and strength. For me arriving to Adelaide was stressful, so many people, cars, buildings... i instantly missed the emptiness of the desert. But Adelaide is a beautiful city, felt like the most elegant and safe city in Australia (and imagine how high the standards were). We cleaned and reorganised to get ready to give the mystery machine back and went out to get a few drinks back in society. I think we were tired, mostly mentally and emotionally, it had been an intense 20 days with limited space and lots and lots of kilometers. We gave back the car the next morning, went to visit the central market, and let Romina go. After that I walked and walked around the city, visited the botanical garden and headed back to the airport. To my surprise, poor Romina had mixed up the flights and lost her flight, and we got to say goodbye one last time one more see you soon. And from there, it was time to say goodbye to Australia after so long. Until when, that's a completely different question.

    Set up your van for absolute nothingless. Get a jerry can full of gas, a couple full of water, if you're gonna get really off road get a satelyte phone, tools kit for the car and everything you need for survival

    3. Our so cute breakfast always different and slow

    3. Hop on wine tastings in the wine areas in Adelaide

    1. Deep Creek Campground (big and beautiful sites in the middle of nature)
    2. Karlu Karlu Campground (right in the national park, amazing views and sunrise and sunset)
    2. G'day Caravan Park (very safe for Alice (not ideal to go out at night), very nice instalations)

    1. Mala walk in Uluru
    2. Kings Canyon Rim Walk

    1. Driving through roads full of nothing and singing as loud as we could the songs we loved for hours

    3. Going to the lookout from the electrical tower with Liam

    My capacity of surviving and overcomming situations that most people wouldn't there to even try

    Ubud (Bali)

    After a long while year living in Australia, I was due to Bali. And why Bali? It doesn't sound like my lind of poace as you could imagine... For Yoga! Came to do a training in Aerial Yogam arrived a few days earlier that I used to go to some nice yoga classes in town, work on my masters, create some content for the red cross, relax and enjoy doing nothing for a few days (and yes, get balinese massages). Out of the crouds of tourists its a cute island, very green and full of smiley and kind people. After that, my training was a really nice experiencez it wasn't up to my expectations to be honest im educational matter, but I still enjoyed the people I was learning with, being surrounded by yoga and slowing down and letting go. It was a pretty emotional and spiritual journey for me, to my surprise, that allowed me to enjoy being there in the moment and question myself in different aspects, allowing me to grief and express and share. On my lost path, I bumped into an opportunity to teach mat yoga and aerial in India, that I took with great excitement.

    📍Essentials: yoga barn and radiantly alive yoga classes, specifically handstand class of Dr Han, get a balinese massage, balinese traditional dance (I watched a Ramayana Ballet in the Sarawasti temple that was really interesting), shopping in the center, water purification ceremony, walk through the paddy fields
    🏠 Accommodation: Bamboo Jungle Huts (pretty far from the center but lovely owners (Sri and BumBum), breakfast included, all day coffee and pretty chill), WWbackpackers (a bit cold but nice instalations without them loosing Bali escense, breakfast and great location)
    🍴Food: Siboghana Warung (amazing, super cheap and veggie food), Udara (expensive but really nice indonesian ayurbedic food), Umami (this one is really expensive, but amazing sushi), Dicarik warung (really good food, diversity, quick, calm and amzing landscape), Plant Bistro (If you want real fancy western vegan)

    1. Yoga in one of the multiple yoga places (I personally liked radiantly alive, but yoga barn has aome interesting classes, but very full of "perfect yogis"
    2. Get a balinese massage

    👁️Top attractions:
    1. Water Purification Temple
    2. Have a coconut or juice in a hidden cafe in the paddy fields
    3. Have a fancy vegan meal in one of the bougie restaurants with a view

    ✨Magical moments:
    1. Deep conversations with the cool people from the training
    2. Going for a walk with a dog that loved me and followed me around for two weeks for some reason (didn't even know her name)
    3. Finding a birthday gift under my pillow from Alda

    To be more open to things that can't be explained through science

    Kochi

    Soooooo... How to begin? I think from the very moment I stepped out of the plane I felt relaxed and at home (which is weird cause it was 3 am, no data, mo money, no atms, no idea of where I was going...) My taxi driver overwhelmed me with new malayalam words and random facts about kochi, which gave some warmth to my heart, and later on I arrived to this empty, smelly ajd dirty place that was (probably) my new home. Teaching at loving earth has been my favorite place to teach yoga so far, the community and the students were beautiful, and I got to try, explore, experiment and do and redo. I was teaching around 12 classes a week (which for a yoga teacher is a pretty crazy amount), and basically hanging out in the cafe, getting to know the loving earth crew, working on my masters, and having some social times with Bree and Edgar, their friends and family and my students. It was a shortsgort month that felt like a lifetime, and when time came to leave, well, I wasn't ready. But from some places you never are, right? Some of my magical small adventures were arriving to have three puppies, one of them, ting, died, which upset me a lot. Bree and Edgar got married (which was the wedding of the year, cause Edgar is a wealthy businessman from Kochi who owns the most renowned places) to which I contributed a lot (and yeah, set up the bar and made the cocktail menu), went to a festival with Anna and danced and laughed and felt love by indian mamas for a night long, went exploring with Farhan (pretty much the only times I would leave Fort Kochi), got really spoiled by the staff who always had some chocolate, cold beers or porottas when I needed them the most had some cute girly coffees with Poppy, had a failed attempt to try to be a tourist and did a tour to the backwaters (did not like it at all), and never stopped loving and thanking yoga. After that, decided to have a wild attempt and loose my flight to the Phillipines (where I was meeting Mario until he got sick and cancelled the trip) and headed to Mysore to learn from the gurus of Asthanga (but yeah, I don't even really like ashtanga). Best luck to my last stage of this part of the adventure!!

    Munnar and surroundings

    Left on a quick field trip with Basil after my last day of work. Basil promised me he would take me to hug his cow, so he took me to his beutiful home in the mountains where they selfprovided as much as it was in their hands. Their aunt and uncle welcomed me with some food and chai and we got to explore the area around, visiting one of the longest hanging bridges in the world and driving around in Basil's motorbike. Afterwards, I wanted to see elephants (of course my only motivation where the animals), so we drove in the heavy rain (with plenty of techical stops), till a spot where elephants tended to go drink water every night. We waited there for almost five hours, until eventually the elephants arrived right before it got dark, a gorgeous family with two baby elephants and two adults. It gelt so magical. Afterwards we decided to drive to munnar to spend the night in a hostel, which I didn't lke cause we got woken up in the middle of the night to be told that they put us in the wrong room. Because of that and because I was feeling wxcited about going to Mysore and work on my asana practice, I decided to come back the next day with Basil and not stay longer and explore the area as I originally had planned. We drove around the area and did a bit of sightseeing of the beautiful tea plantations and green landscapes, and with a lot lot lot of water made it back to Kochi, where I would briefly stay to settle a few things I left open and find my way to Mysore.

    Mysore, ashtanga world 🧘‍♀️

    After traching and giving for longer than a month, I felt like it was time for me to recieve and learn. So I decided to go to the meca of Ashtanga, where Mysore style comes from and the best teachers in the world welcome you early in the morning in their crowded shallas for an outrageous price to prove their prestige. My first impression of Mysore was mixed, felt like it didn't really have much and a bit like a bubble of yogud who just wake up early, go to ashtanga and spend their days chatting in cafes. Took me a bit to adjust to this very slow like and a bit meaningless to me. I had to finish my masters thesis, which helped a lot with this, and started going to some aerial classes in the evenings every now and then, to explore some surroundings, some alternative activities or doing a bit of socializing. It was quite special cause in my desperation to find a place to stay I bumped into a hostel that was just opening, so I managed to stay having a private 8 bed dorm, where I became friends with Rishikesh, the owner of the hostel, and I met lovely bubbly Fran from Chile and Elli from Ukraine, who became some of my closest people during my stay. My Asthanga practice was tough, not mentally but mostly phisically, with sharp pain and a thin line between my limits, my exigencies and my self love. Still, it was an interesting experiment that I sometimes loved and sometimes detested. Hung out with Adrianna at the beginning, one of Verena's friends who showed me around initially. And afterwards I had a nice blend of space and other lovely people around me. I got a few massages and medical consultations of different sorts, worked in the livingroom for hours and hours on my thesis (even though Ellie was always there to give me a small break), went to a lot of yogi events (we even did a cacao ceremony), played with Acroyoga with Eugene, and also had some amazing times with Niklas, a sweet german guy with the most interesting conversations and an inmense love for cacao.

    📍Essentials: Ashtanga (I practiced in Sachidananda), massage with Ravi, Chamundi Hills Sunset, NagarHole safari (Kabini gate is the closest point), Ecstatic dance, Ice Batch with Rikesh, Kirtan Night, meet yogis from all around the world and share, go for a yoga photoshoot at some point, flower market, Mysore Palace
    🍴Food: Old Green House (amazing north indian food and lovely family running it), Dosa Point, BK Iyengar, Chakra House, Aunt Lilly's (beautiful adn fancy but affordable space), Loco (chocolate factory, the owner is so cool), CoCoVault (good chocolate deserts), Zen Kitchen (good food but usually pretty full), Govinda (energy balls and icecream are amazing)

    Kochi for a day

    Decided to fly from Kochi, because it was cheaper and because for me it felt necessary to come back to close the cycle, to say goodbye when I felt ready. After a long bus journey of 12 hours I reached Ernakulam. Went to get one last reflexology with Sree and had lunch with Bree and Lolly. After that, got the last details I needed to buy, spent a nice chill afternoon with Bree and Ezra, said goodbye to the staff, had a quick drink with Poppy and some girls, and headed to the airport.
