And home again!
A day trip to the Emperors' Summer Palace rounded out our trip. A very serene and beautiful place.
The obligatory Rickshaw ride took us through "the Hutons" which are a group of narrow streets and alleyways dating back to 256BC. We were invited into a local's house for a traditional chinese lunch.
The Forbidden Palace was really cool! I remembered watching a movie, The Last Emperor, years before and to see the Palace in real was pretty special!
The excess is unbelievable!
The infamous Tiananmen Square. Could not believe how many people were queued up to see the square. Quite a sobering presence to the place.
Next stop was the beautiful Temple of Heaven back in Beijing.
Our first visit was to see the Great Wall of China. It was bitterly cold, but the skies were clear. Still some snow on the ground.
An amazing piece of engineering and well worth the drive to see it.
Off to China!
We'd focussed our visit around Beijing as we thought we'd get to jam more into the time we had available to us.
Beijing traffic! Interesting :) Road Lanes appear to be completelyOkumaya devam et
We also did a day tour which included the awesome Stanley Markets!
We had a couple of visits to the world-renowned Ladies Night Market in Monkok. It lived up to the hype, a truly enjoyable and memorable place.
