Poor weather did nothing to dampen my spirits. Made enjoyable by quiet country lanes and quaint villages.
Am hoping tomorrow to follow a canal from here till it reaches the river Thames, then followLäs mer
Can see now why the Brits go to Spain for their beach holidays. Plenty to see in the Historic Dockyard of Portsmouth.
Bags packed for next leg back to London.
Gloomy day to be setting sail from Santander, 24 hour back to the UK. Worst part of the journey so far. Did not take well to the rough seas. Cycling back would have been more enjoyable.
2,000 km covered now in 4 weeks :)
Time to bid farewell to Spain. Wish I could keep going but alas, there are no more ferries back to the UK if I continue any further.
Last night's campsite was but a stones throw from the beach. Was great being able to hear the ocean all night.
Not a long ride today but good to get into Santander early to do some exploring of theLäs mer
Bilbao yesterday was a large city but very much industrial. Not much going for it, even in the "old city" which are normally quite interesting. Back now on the coast, far more enjoyable.

The fishing villages only awaken after 5 pm. The harbours become the local swimming pool and meeting place and and are a hive of activity.

Was given some good advice by a local last evening. Him speaking no english, and my Spanish limited to "Hola", "Cerveja", "Gracias". So with hand gestures and facial expressions, was told to stay onLäs mer
Another sweltering day from sunrise to sunset (21:20). After two nights in a hostel dormitory, the campsite tonight is going to seem quite peaceful. Not a bad view either :)
Simon Knuppel Awesome pictures Pat. I reckon your photography might surpass your pedalling!! Just kidding mate... stop making us jealous now! See you soon!
Chandre de Jager ... and no marauding goats! I still don't believe that story from Coffee Bay. 😁😊😄
What a load to pedal daily - well done Pat this does not look pleasant and so narrow.
