    Bidvest Lounge you beauty

    September 21, 2017 in South Africa ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

What a privilege to be traveling again, only 6 months and 2 days ago we arrived back in SA, did not think we would be this lucky to travel again so soon after.

I must say after doing a six month trip, this one feels like a long weekend away. Maybe it just because we are experienced travelers now.

We are enjoying the task of trying to eat and drink enough in the lounge to make back bank charges 😜

  • Lughawe emosie

    September 21, 2017 in South Africa ⋅ 🌙 22 °C

Ek sien my mense sommer gou weer. Prinsloo reunie in Parys ek kannie wag nie.

  • Trein van Charles de Gaulles

    September 22, 2017 in France ⋅ ☁️ 13 °C

Read more

  • Notre Dame

    September 22, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

We arrived at the hotel way to early for check in. So we hopped on the hop on hop off bus but with in minutes we were so board we had to get of to stay awake.

The Notre Dame was the closest attraction and we thought if Quasimodo lived there it had to be less boring 😜.

It was one of the most amazing churches i have ever been in. The art in the church is unbelievable, a specially the sculptures depicting the appearance of Jesus to several people after he rose from the dead and the depiction of His birth story.

  • Hop on hop off bus Paris

    September 22, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

After a typical french lunch on the side of the street the second half of the hop on hop off bus trip was more informative and we managed to stay awake long enough to see all the attractions and get a good idea where everything was before getting back to the hotel to get some much needed R&R before LaReine and Francios arrived.

  • View from the top

    September 23, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 16 °C

    September 23, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

We were happy to find those rental bikes in Paris, we started the day with a cycle to the Sucre Coeur for breakfast. We cycled to the different cites all day with plenty of refreshment stops along the way. It is more challenging to find bikes at the docking stations in Paris, at some stage me and Roedolf were on the same bike, It was a bit nerve recking... but we managed to get to the next docking station where there were plenty of bikes.

Nothing beats exploring the beautiful city by vélo( bicycle).

  • Picnique á la Tour Eiffel

    September 23, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

Du vin , du pain et le boursin. In a true French spirit we picked up baquettes, cheese, cold meats and wine and found a perfect spot on the grass. We shared lots of fun laughter in the shades of this iconic monument with the two Londoners. I am grateful that Lareine and Francois could join us for the weekend. It is Roedolf and Francois's first time in Paris and that itself is a treat with the radio raps banter flying around

  • Seine river cruise

    September 24, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

Bucket list item ✔️. Amazing to be on the Seine and see everyday life happening with the amazing, mesmerizing historic sites as the backdrop. Pont neuf, Museé d'Orsay, the Notre Dame, la tour Eiffel, les Invalides, place de la Concorde and then to top it all the sunseeking Parisiennes. We sipped on some Provence rosé and enjoyed the sun and the buzz of the city on this Sunday afternoon.

Francois also loves being on the water, so it was a win win. The boat trip was the only thing I really wanted to do this time around in Paris. We had such a fun weekend and it was wonderful to share the joys of Paris with Francois and Lareine!

    C'est la bonne vie!

  • Seine piekniek

    September 24, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

Dankie julle dit was ongelooflik lekker saam julle in Parys!

  • People watching

    September 26, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 17 °C

Instead of a day trip to the Castle of Versailles we decided to have a relaxing day, sitting on street corners and people watch.

Our first little Boulangerie was a beautiful little cafe on a street corner that seemed quiet at first but little did we know how many people walk by and grab an espresso from this Boulangerie.

A story unfolds right next to us that would probably stay with me way longer than some old Castle would.
The old lady in the red hat next to us came and sat down with her cup of expresso and a pastry for breakfast, the poor sole clearly has Parkinson's and her hand shook so much when se put the tray with the coffee down that the little cup fell over and spilled her coffee. She did not notice it at first as she was to busy shifting her chair to the right spot.
When she looked down to enjoy her expresso she saw there was nothing left and she outed the word "Merte!!!", without asking Isabel what that meant I instantly knew what the poor lady said. She salvaged what was left of the expresso in the tray and went back inside to get another one, just to come back outside sit down for about 40 seconds to finish cup number 2 and walk off. She's probably better off just drinking it at the counter like so many french people do.

  • Église de la Madeleine

    September 26, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

Yet another unbelievable church. This one took over a 100 years to complete. Just the main statue took the artist 22 years to complete.

Crazy to think most people who planned these old buildings never saw it completed. I can't even imagine in this day and age to tackle a project that I know will out life me and I will have to pass down to the next generation.

This church building project not only out lived its architects but also 5 different French leaders who each wanted to change the building plans for their own benefit.

These old buildings are constantly under restoration, this is a sign of a first world country, doesn't matter how old something is they try to keep it in good working condition. In the 3rd world we just don't give a damn if things goes into disrepair. They wind up to be tourist attractions anyway right, just not as buildings but as ruins like in Mexico, Cambodia etc.

  • Liberty flame

    September 26, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

The exact replica of the Statue of Liberty flame was a gift from the USA. Underneath this monument runs the tunnel in which Princess Diana passed away in the famous car crash. Thus people also pay tribute to her on this monument.

    September 26, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

When in doubt get "un vélo"!!

  • Piekniek by die Sacré Coeur

    September 26, 2017 in France ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C

  • Italian market

    September 28, 2017 in Italy ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

Happiness is strolling through a market.... at least for some us is. We drove to a beautiful little town, San Pantaleo is situated right on top of a hill in Sardenië. The market has loads of local handmade goods, I expected more leather goods. The coffee was fantastic here and the people watching next level, a great experience to soak up the atmosphere .
