Maritime Museum and PerthNovember 2 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 18 °C
After lunch we take a quick visit to the Maritime Museum. It's quite interesting but we both preferred the museum earlier which just seemed more focussed. Or maybe we're museumed out for the day.
Then it's into the car to move to a place just down the road from Susan. This new place is quite basic but clean and functional. It's so much better than the last place.
Susan comes round and we all head for the packed Wembley Hotel, two minutes walk away, where everyone is watching England v South Africa in the rugby final. Susan and I find a table round the back and start putting the world to rights whilst John watches the rugby. Unfortunately it's South Africa's game from the start, with the final score being 32 : 12.
For dinner Susan takes us into Northbridge to her favourite Chinese, Ming's BBQ. Of course, this is nothing like an English Chinese but is full of clean flavours. We have a lovely clear chicken broth to start, followed by chicken, pork and duck which are all marinaded and served as chunks of meat with various dipping sauces. There's a crisp green veg dish simply flavoured with soy, not swimming in sauce like our's. Then lots of rice and Singapore noodles. It's delicious. And it hit the table unbelievably quickly. Today must be our day for exceptional food service.
Before we head back, there is time for Susan to walk us round this buzzing part of Perth to experience a bit of the night life vibe and see a bit of the cultural centre. It's not that I feel like a country bumpkin at all but all the young people are dressed up, both for Saturday night and Halloween events, and I'm in the same stuff I was wearing in the Outback to keep warm... Best put the old lady to bed, methinks!!Read more
