    Pool-Breakfast with a view!!!

June 23, 2017 in Costa Rica

Read more

    Day 3, Arenal Hot Springs

December 24, 2017 in Costa Rica

In Fortuna, under the view of the Arenal volcano, we visited the Baldi hotel and spa. Different level pools run down the mountain. The hottest water comes from the top "waterfall" and cools as it moves down. There are also cold spas where you can sit to cool off before heading back to the hot water.

This water has a high concentration of minerals and is naturally heated by the nearby volcano. Our skin felt very soft when we were done. Look at those big smiles!Read more

    Hiking around Arenal Volcano

    February 28 in Costa Rica

Another hot and sunny day in Costa Rica (31). Today we are hiking two volcanos and going to hot springs. This is the first park of our hike. We are now stopping to eat lunch and the afternoon hike will be more strenous. We hiked around Arenal Volcano and were introduced to lots if plants, saw bird of paradise, citronella, banannas and lime trees. We stopped at a waterfall midpoint.

    Arenal

July 7, 2017 in Costa Rica

Arenal (La Fortuna - but we were way out of town) was loads of fun. For starters we were staying in a spa hotel that was really nice.

The first day we went to see the hanging bridges in the rainforest. The suspension bridges themselves were cool (very high and moved around a lot) and the wildlife was more of the same we've seen elsewhere in CR - sloths, monkeys, snakes, etc which is always good to see!

We also did a walk around the volcano which was good. The first time it erupted was in 1968 and last time in 2010, making it pretty active! You aren't allowed to climb the volcano but you can walk around it.

After a lot of walking we then went to Tabacon hot springs which are the nicest hot springs I think I've ever been to. We also had a buffet dinner which was to die for, but I filled my plate to the brim and ended up having four different types of meat and lots of the little desserts. I went to bed at 8.30pm with the biggest food coma.

The next day we had a chilled day of no activities so spent the day by the pool and also at the gym. It was nice to have a day where we just enjoyed the hotel because it's so fancy and even has a pool bar where you can eat sushi in the swimming pool.

We're off on a boat to Monteverde tomorrow. Already halfway through Mum and Rosy's holiday, and two weeks into my time in Costa Rica - time goes way too quickly but it's been great so far and we've got more good stuff to look forward to including the cloud rainforest and five days on the beach in Guancaste.

    Hot Springs

    April 21 in Costa Rica

    Wellness pur!

    Ecogarden Tour

July 6, 2016 in Costa Rica

Had a lovely tour this evening. Ecogarden was built be a man named Jose. He bought the property 5 years ago and developed a garden with native plants to attract native animals. And it worked! We saw a crazy number of frogs and insects, as well as 2 sloths. We held poison dart frogs in our hands and on our noses. Jose was very knowledgable about all the animals and plants. Afterward his wife served us some tea made of sugarcane and ginger and some local snacks. An adorable family run operation.Read more

Arenal Volcano - Canyoning & Hotsprings

October 21, 2016 in Costa Rica

    Abschied vom Arenal

March 22, 2015 in Costa Rica

Read more
