    Central Market Hall

    December 30, 2019 in Hungary ⋅ 🌙 0 °C

We got to the market hall with about half an hour to go before closing but it was still pretty busy! The enormous building has one main floor where all the grocery type shopping goes on - so many butchers - and then a mezzanine level with souvenir type stuff on one side and cooked food vendors on the other.Read more

    Bye bye, Budapest!

    March 12, 2020 in Hungary ⋅ ⛅ 52 °F

We made it on our bus and are Vienna bound!

Before we headed to the bus depot, we stopped by the Great Market Hall, which was built at the turn of the 20th century to increase the food supply of Budapest and help the city grow.

We had another Langos (seriously they're so good!). This one had cherries, strawberries, and Nutella on top instead of cheese and sour cream.

Budapest was pretty fantastic. The sights were stunning, the history was enriching, and the people were far more friendly than stereotypes of Eastern Europeans imply.

Our favorite activities were visiting the communist statues at Memento Park, relaxing in the warm water of the Szechenyi Baths, and floating down the Danube on our sightseeing cruise. We also really enjoyed the ruin bar and Cafe Gerbaud.

All in all, expectations exceeded—Nächster Halt, Wien!

A minha última refeição de Budapeste 😋

PS.

    Obrigado 😊

    Até já

    Die große Markthalle...

    November 12, 2019 in Hungary ⋅ 🌧 9 °C

    Budapests Great Market

    December 19, 2017 in Hungary ⋅ ⛅ 0 °C

This morning we had a choice of having free time or going on the bus tour of Budapest. As we had already seen most of that which we wanted to see we chose the free time and decided to visit the nearby “Great Market”. This is a permanent market in a huge building. It is principally a good market with sections predominantly or each food type, ie meat, fruit and veg and fish. There are also many souvenir type shops on the upper level much akin to a bazaar, the fish section was down stairs and so was the ALDI store. The meats were surprisingly well fat trimmed and very lean. Probably because the sold the big chunks of fat as a speciality item. An interesting market.
We adeparted from Budapest at 12:15 and we now steam on until midday tomorrow when we arrive in Vienna.

    Auf geht's durch die Stadt.

    July 14, 2017 in Hungary ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

Die Hop-on hop-off Busse fahren heute wegen den Schwimm-Weltmeisterschaften etwas unkoordiniert. Read more

    Budapest Markthalle

    April 5, 2018 in Hungary ⋅ ⛅ 14 °C

Read more
