Read more
Emily Embo 🇬🇧 Lombok Hi everyone, we spent 3 nights in Lombok, an island in Indonesia located east of Bali. Lombok is about the same size as Bali, but is less touristic. To go there, we took a speedboat, the crossing took 2h30. The outward journey was quite nice, we sat on the top deck of the boat, we could enjoy the sun and the view while listening to techno music. The return trip was horrible, the sea was rough, some passengers threw up and it was unbearably hot. In Lombok, we stayed in a small hotel in the south of the island, 20min from the city of Kuta, with a great view on the sea, a small pool and a restaurant. On the first day, we went to see the nearest beach we could see from our hotel, a large beach with very few tourists, with some warungs (local restaurants). The beach seemd very nice from far, but when we got closer we noticed that it was full of garbage. So we didn't stay long, and rented a scooter for the rest of the day. Emily drove us to Kuta, where we had lunch and walked on the beach. The next day, we went to visit 3 small islands in the west of Lombok. First of all Gili Nanggu where we went snorkeling, it was incredible! We saw hundreds of fish of all shapes and colors swimming around us in the middle of colorful coral reefs. We would have liked to show you but unfortunately we could not take pictures underwater. We then went to Gili Sudak, an island with a coconut plantation and a few restaurants, and we had lunch on the beach. The last island of the day was Gili Kedis, a tiny but beautiful sandy island, about 50 meters long, with only a few trees and sunbeds. Pt. 2 in the comments
Emily Embo 🇬🇧Pt.2 At the end of the day, we invited our driver to the restaurant before heading back, and that was already the end of our adventures in Lombok, we had to leave the next morning to go to Canggu in Bali. On the way back to the hotel, we noticed that we were very sunburned, especially on our back. We might as well tell you that it was not easy to carry our 15 kilos backpacks! We are in Canggu now, we will give you news in a few days. See you soon!
