Vacsi a Trasteveren

Kitaláltuk hogy este elmegyünk a Dóri által javasolt sonkazos helyre a Trasteverere. A szallasunkrol azonban nem olyan könnyű sajnos oda jutni, pedig kinéztem h van az FL3-nak egy trasteverei megállója. De mint kiderült az eléggé a végére visz a varosresznek Uh nagyon nehezen ki logisztikaztuk h a 3as villamos egy darabig jó lesz nekünk h ne kelljen 30 percet gyalogolni éhesen. Egészen jól és viszonylag gyorsan el is jutottunk a Sonkazaba, csak hely nem volt. De 10-15 percet kellett csak várnunk felszabaduló helyre, addig pedig ittunk egy-egy pohárka san govese-t, a ház borát. Eleg jó bor volt szó se róla.Read more

Angyalvar es Trastevere

A Vatikán után átsétáltunk az Angyalvarhoz és mivel érvényes volt meg a Roma pass-unk be is mentünk megnezni. Vagyis inkább fel. Vegigmentunk a teteje ig ahonnan nagyon szép kilátás nyílt Rómára. Megérte felküzdeni magunkat annak ellenére h már mindkettőnk lába eléggé fajt az előző napi tulhajtastol. Minden irányba jól ellehetett látni, szerencsére szép napsuteses idő volt. Ezt követően felkereskedtunk h atmegyunk a Trasteverere mert előző nap csak sotetben láttuk... a via del Corso egy részénél már nagyon fajt a lábunk Uh felpattantunk egy buszra ami elvitt a Piazza Veneziaig, onnan pedig mentünk tovább 8as villamossal, ami már ismert járat volt. Szóval atjutottunk a labkimelo móddal a célhoz. Sétáltunk egy kicsit aztán beultunk a terén egy helyre h pihentetjuk a labunkat egy kicsit, iszunk egy jó bort meg kértünk egy-egy bruschettat h ne haljunk éhen vacsiig. Na akkora adagot kaptunk h nem is bírtunk vacsizni Uh jó mergesek voltunk. Ez a nap annyira nem sikerült jól kaja szempontból de megfogadtuk h legközelebb figyelunk jobban 😉 meg sétáltunk egyet a hangulatos kis utcákban aztán hazafele vettük az irányt, immár teljesen tudatosan.Read more

Vacsi ismet a Trasteveren

Az előző nap hibájából kiindulva akármilyen éhesek is voltunk, nem ettünk semmit vagy semmi nagyot vacsi előtt. Így a meccsről ismét irány a Trastevere. Amy kolléganőm javasolt meg egy éttermet, azt akartuk kipróbálni, de nem volt benn senki és aki kijött végül Ő sem volt annyira szimpi Uh TripAdvisoron csekkoltuk a mellette levő éttermet és mivel az jobb értékelést is kapott és szimpibb volt, így oda mentünk be végül. De milyen jól tettük, isteni finomat ettünk. Feleztunk egy eloetelt, grillezett scamorza volt szarvasgombas radicchioval és prosciuttoval, utána én lasagne-t ettem Sanyi pedig Strozzapeti alla Amatriciana-t, majd feleztunk egy cheesecake-et, és egy üveg vorosborral kisertuk le az egészet. Hat isteni vacsora volt, a helyet csak ajánlani tudom. Ditta Trinchetti a hely neve, Tripadvisoron is fent van.Read more

While walking through the Piazza Piscinula where we started our travels on arrival, Nancy stops to look at a menu and the waiter comes and tells her of the pasta special of the day - home made ravioli. Since this is the pasta Nancy would most like to learn to make and the waiter is very polite and not pushy, we decide to try it. It was very good - nice salad and pasta was fantastic. Wonder if I can learn to make it - our host in Sorrento is to teach us how- we will see. We have the wine at home as Doug wanted to try a bottle (the only way to get him to perk up while I looked around the grocery store we finally got to!). Wine in the restaurants has been very good and very cheap, typically €5 for 1/2 litre with dinner. One can not afford not to drink here!Read more

Die Fotos von der Führung muss ich erst sortieren. Insgesamt kann man aber sagen, dass die Führung ihr Geld wert war. Unser Guide war sehr überrascht über unser Wohnviertel Tor Pignatarra, weil das schon Vorstadt ist. "Normalerweise schlafen unsere Kunden in Hotels in der Innenstadt, wo die Zimmer 500 Euro die Nacht kosten." Wahnsinn!!!Read more

From the Tridente to the Aventine

Started with the H bus to Reppublica to catch the Metro, but it was closed weekends for work. The replacement shuttle bus Navette did not run very frequently, but eventually connected us to the Flaminio Metro where we began our morning ramble.

After lunch, we waited for Bus #160 which ran all the way past Circo Massimo. Our afternoon walk ended at home.

Distance: 23,395 steps; 17.7 km
Weather was sunny, then cloudy but no rain developed.

Arch of Constantine

The arch is not a visit so much as a 'view' but is very photogenic. It was erected by the Senate in A.D. 315 to honor Constantine's defeat of the pagan Maxentius at the Battle of the Milvian Bridge (A.D. 312). Many of the reliefs have nothing whatsoever to do with Constantine or his works, but they tell of the victories of earlier Antonine rulers (lifted from other, long-forgotten memorials). Historically, the arch marks a period of great change in the history of Rome. Converted to Christianity by a vision on the eve of battle, Constantine ended the centuries-long persecution of the Christians, during which many followers of the new religion had been put to death in a gruesome manner. Although Constantine didn't ban paganism (which survived officially until the closing of the temples more than half a century later), he espoused Christianity himself and began the inevitable development that culminated in the conquest of Rome by the Christian religion.

Today's theme was Vatican City.

Took a taxi to Vatican at 07:00 and walked back. Home around 18:00.

Distance: 17.061 steps 11.8 km. Another active day.

Weather: Threatening when we went into the museum and some sprinkles as we left St. Peter's, but cleared and ended up 21 degrees.

Dinner at Papa Re

Papa Re is a trattoria (definition of a trattoria is that which serves local/ Italian foods vs a Ristorante which also serves international food, (our foodie guide Riche told us that Rome is not known to do international well but does Italian VERY well so try to stick with that). It is a just a few steps from our apartment and is open all day - many places close at 3 pm and open again about 7:30 which is the very latest that we'd want to start a meal. Good prices and average to above average meal. Doug started with gnocchi followed by pan fried veal scallopini and Nancy had a Roman salad (chicory slices, a bit of anchovy, garlic oil and vinegar - very good!) followed by spaghetti cacio e pepe (spaghetti with pecorino and pepper (this is a sheep cheese - no don't order Parmigiano in Roma! how much of a tourist are you?) - a well known Italian dish. Back to the apartment for hazelnut and almond cookies from the bakery Innocente and some reading to prepare for tomorrow.Read more
